These guys are so personable and genuine. My son loved his experience. We are definitely going back.
I’ve been attending this gym for almost a month now and I have nothing negative to say. Their team is absolutely amazing. Family vibes and positivity surrounds you. I love how hard everyone pushes each other to succeed. This is the gym I’ll forever be a member of.
Incredibly fun boxing class
Visited Six Gun while I was in town for work. Very cool gym and atmosphere. Its one of the more unique gyms I have visited. Every one there was extremely welcoming, couldnt find a group of nicer people. Thanks for having me!
The coaches and other students at the gym have become like a second family to me. I like having the resources that Six Gun provides me by being associated with 6 other gyms in East Texas.Everyone is always willing to help and give constructive feedback.Ive been with the guys that opened the gym for 2 years now and theyve done nothing but treat me with respect and kindness. Theyve supported and encouraged me through all my competitions, and all of my promotions.I highly recommend Six Gun if youre looking for a martial arts family to join. The BEST in Lufkin.
Fun Times
Attended jiu jitsu, Muay Thai and mma for 6 months and trained jiu jitsu for around 2 years at this gym. Amazing family atmosphere, great people. Couldn’t recommend it any more highly for anyone whether they are looking to test themselves or just want a fun way to get into better shape
My son loves the kids classes, the instructors are absolutely amazing! I also have taken the kick boxing an it is an amazing workout! All the staff are very knowledgeable! We definitely will not be training anywhere else!
If you are looking for a good place to take you kids to train look no further. My little boy takes a class here is loves it. The instructor really takes his time with him and thats hard to find anywhere else. They have a place for the parents to sit and watch class . It is very inviting and everybody is very friendly.
This is the best local mma gym around. The amount of equipment rivals top level gyms in big cities. Top level instructors who where previous national champions. The membership price is very cheap. With tons of training partners. The gym is like a big family everyone is so nice and easy going.
Great environment for all ages; our whole family loves going to hit the mat! Super inviting, friendly staff with great facilities.
I love this gym! I have felt fully welcome by everyone in the gym and have had an awesome time learning Jiu Jitsu here! I only wish I had more time to go and practice. I have had lots of instruction the several times I have been and felt very safe practicing here.
We are fairly new to Six Gun Acadmy. My three grandsons recently started Jiu Jitsu lessons in the Mini Guns class. They love the class and cannot wait to come on Monday and Wednesday. The whole staff is extremely polite, professional and knowledgeable about various Martial Arts. Great place! Great atmosphere! Great instructors! I give them ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️s!
I have been attending Six Gun Martial Arts since May 2015.From the moment I walked in the gym the coaches have made me feel welcomed, and have always gone out of their way to help out in anyway they can. I had no martial arts back ground when I started, and with their coaching I have won 3 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal in NAGA, GPG, and AGF grappling tournaments. On top of being outstanding coaches, they are great people that love to teach and really enjoy watching their students excel.
Ive been coming to Six Gun since late last year and I absolutely love it. This type of thing is way outside my comfort zone but the atmosphere at Six Gun makes it difficult for even me to be uncomfortable. From the moment I walked in Ive felt welcomed and encouraged to learn new things.I take Tae Kwon Do and the Cardio Kickboxing classes and theyre the highlight of my week. Its always a great workout and I learn something new every class. Plus its really fun so, win-win.Basically with staff as helpful, friendly and knowledgeable as these guys I dont know why anyone would go elsewhere.
I have been going to Six Gun since October, and it has been the best gym Ive ever been to-hands down. The coaches always treated me with respect, and never made me feel less than, even though I am one of the newest at the gym. Being one of the few females that go to the gym, I can say with complete confidence that no one there (coaches or other students) has EVER made me feel uncomfortable or out of place. The classes are very structured, and dont know why anyone would say otherwise. Every class we warm up, circle up for a demonstration, and then pair up to practice. The coaches always give me helpful feedback.I didnt expect for jiu jitsu to become such a passion for me, but the love and dedication that all of the coaches have for this sport has seemed to rub off on me. Jiu jitsu and the coaches at Six Gun have taught me more than just a sport, but have also taught me the value of self respect by teaching me safe ways to defend myself from harm. Theyve taught me that even though I might be used to the classes now, everyone starts somewhere and we should always welcome new members with respect and gracious attitudes. Theyve taught me to respect my coaches, because even though they arent black belts, they still have worked extremely hard to get to where they are today and are excited to give me some of their knowledge, which I should be thankful for.As far as gym safety, I was made to sign a liability waiver before I ever even stepped onto a mat. I have always been taught the safe way to practice with others, and how to protect myself from injury. I have NEVER been made to feel unsafe, even though this sport is a high contact sport and you can easily be injured-its pretty natural.Ask anyone who attends class at Six Gun currently, and I am 100% positive they will agree with everything Ive said.I love Six Gun!
This place is amazing! I trained here for 2 months (my current post requires me to move a lot). There are different classes but the three I attended are cardio kickboxing, muy thai, and Brazilian jiu jitsu (bjj). Don’t worry if you’ve never tried these classes before and/or if youre not in-shape; these guys and gals will work with you and you WILL see yourself improve!Cardio kickboxing: 30 minutes of ongoing cardio on the bag. Talk about working up a sweat! The instructor (mainly Hunter) is great. He takes time to show you the basic moves and lets you punch your heart out. If you have any questions or want to improve, he’s always willing to take some time and teach you. There’s gloves to rent there so no need to invest in a pair until you’re ready to commit. Cardio kickboxing is not about technique but more about cardio (as the name suggests lol), so if you want to get technical and improve, try muy thai.Muy thai: I have never tried muy thai before (all I’ve experienced were the insane fights I would flip through on TV), but after this introduction, I think I’ve found a new love. Kevin is a patient, motivating instructor. Kevin emphasizes good technique so you’ll build a solid foundation. He will push you, but he will do so at your pace. If you’ve never tried this class before, don’t be intimidated; first, you need to learn how to move like a muy thai fighter, so it’s about the basic steps and punches the first few classes. Slowly but steadily, you’ll start to learn the movements and progress to technical sparring with others; it’s a very safe learning environment. The muy thai regulars are like co-instructors; they will guide you and encourage you as well. I made a fool of myself so many times, but they were nothing but motivating.Brazilian jiu jitsu (bjj): This class is about repetition and making the moves almost instinctual. I had no idea what I was doing the first few classes but eventually started catching on. Tom and Dan are passionate about bjj and patient instructors; I tend to ask many questions and am grateful these guys took the time to breakdown the lesson. This is bjj so if youre wearing shorts, make sure you have tights underneath. This art is lifelong. I am a mere beginner but have discovered a new hobby thanks to the 6gun bjj community.Final notes: Bring water, lots of water; maybe even a towel to catch the sweat (and excess weight and stress) that’s leaving your body. You are learning defense skills which will help increase your confidence. Learn to love sweat and in turn watch your body grow stronger. Regarding cost, it is very affordable (prices on website). The first week is free so stop by and try it out; youre under no pressure to commit.6gun gym is more than a place to work out; it’s a community of encouragement and motivation. The 6gun crew have created an environment of self-improvement and joy; there’s really no place like this. Can’t wait until the day I return to Lufkin and workout/train/have fun with 6gun again!
This gym is fantastic. The instructors really care about their students, and there are a multitude of disciplines to engage in. Their Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and Judo programs are my favorites. With BJJ they offer both beginner and advanced classes. Theres even a competition program that runs parallel to the advanced classes for those that would like to test their skills in a bigger format. If BJJ isnt your thing, I know that there are Muay Thai and boxing classes, as well as MMA and Tae Kwon Do.Theres a lot of mat space for rolling and training, and theres a ring for the boxers and Muay Thai folks. They also have a lot of square footage dedicated to heavy bags and other striking tools, as well as a nice bathroom and changing area. Theyve recently added a beverage station and a check-in area which gives the whole operation a very organized, professional feel.My one complaint would be about the parking; sometimes it gets a bit crowded in the lot, especially with some of the more popular classes (kids BJJ, for instance, tends to bring a lot of parents in cars) going on. That being said, its just a testament to how great this place is and how many people are taking advantage. I would encourage anyone interested to drop in and take a look around, you wont regret it.
