We came in a few weeks back to get our brakes fixed, their receptionist was very professional and polite and he was able to give us an accurate and fair price in no time at all. I was very impressed with the timely work done here and this will definitely be the only shop I’ll be taking my car to if i could give 6 stars I would! We had an issue with the RV A/C in the truck where it was sometimes blowing air but also seemed to turn off -the whole family sweating in Texas July heat and had a long trip ahead on July 4th weekend. The RV place we rented at, if we ever got through to call, indicated it was likely a “sticky” unit? And to try turning to cold then hot then cold and see if it would help (and then they left as we waited on hold).. it did not and we were on our own. We stopped for Freon but Freon was full. My father found HUD’s and they were a lifesaver; God is good. I barely had any money in my wallet so I gave him what I had. We cannot say enough good things about this place, the employees, and highly recommend if you are in or around the Lubbock area to go here if needed! To the mechanic and team at HUD’s-Thank you for all you do- we appreciate you and wish there were more places like this everywhere and closer to our house. We would be lifelong customers.

Called them about replacing my injectors on my truck and he could not because I was supplying my own parts. In other words they want me to buy their overpriced parts so they can stick me with a higher price. He said insurance did not allow them. What a joke…

We were from out of state and we had Issues with our diesel truck late in the afternoon. We looked for a close diesel repair place, and they answered the phone immediately as several put us on lengthy holds. We asked them for help on short notice, and they enthusiastically told us the would clear a bay and start as soon as we could get there.They recommend a towing company for us very fairly priced. We arrived there at 5pm and they told us the 2 scenarios and they were able to fix it and even stayed a little past 6pm so we could be on the road.Their kind demeanor and professionalism throughout a very frustrating ordeal was above and beyond what I have ever received from any repair shop or dealership. The service manager even offered to give us a ride to a nearby restaurant. Would recommend to anyone who needed car repairs.

Our alternator went out on a road trip. We detoured to Lubbock and HUD’s Automotive took care of us right away even on a Friday afternoon. They had the replacement part we needed on hand and completed all the work in under 2 hours. The price was more than reasonable and their professionalism was much appreciated.

The staff here are amazing. Even with the current environment and having to run their business with no contact they exceeded my expectations. My repairs were done the same day and they called to explain everything that was wrong and get my consent before they repaired anything. Nathan was even so kind as to recommend that I file a claim with my insurance once I realized what must have caused the damages. He offered to keep the damaged pieces for me at the shop so the adjuster could see them. The next day, Cameron took the time to send me pictures of the damaged wheel hubs that I could send to my insurance company. Their level of service is above and beyond and I would highly recommend them to anyone!

I think I may have reviewed Huds before, because they always do good, honest work. But I just wanted to add that they were there for me during the COVID-19 crisis and I really appreciate that! They really are the best people!

They did not even try to fix or diagnose the main problem I am having with my trucks fuel system. They just adjusted the idle.And fixed the oil leak. So when I picked up my truck I only made it two blocks before it began to lose power and try to die on me. When I returned to the shop and informed them it was still doing the same thing it did when I brought it in I was told,we dont work on older model vehicles we only did this as a favor for a friend. So I paid almost $1,000 and I still cant drive my truck.

Huds Auto is FANTASTIC. Ive taken my car to Huds for years for minor issues so when something major went wrong with the engine, I had it towed to Huds. Cameron called often to update me on the progress while they figured out the issue and they had it resolved within a day. Huds is honest, straightforward, and I 100% recommend them.

The employees here are very friendly. My car had some damage so I was looking for a place to get it fixed. They did not do the kind of repairs that I need but the employee was kind about it. He also referred me to someone that he said had decent prices and good quality service. It was greatly appreciated.

If I could give this business 6 STARS I would! The level of professionalism and response is unmatched. They spent 3 days going over my daughters VW Jetta trying to diagnose the problem of why it wouldnt start. They gave updates along the way and were so helpful. Being new in town, finding a new place to get our cars serviced can be challenging. From the first phone call we made to Huds to when we picked up our car after service, they were AWESOME. Nathan in the front office was incredibly friendly and helpful. They gave us a free inspection and diagnosed the problem quickly. The quote they gave us was half the price of the quote we received from a place out of town and lower than the quotes we received from a few places in Lubbock. We will definitely be going back to Huds. Highly, highly recommend!

My lemon of a Ford Escape (thanks Pollard) has brought me tremendous trouble for the last 3 years and it is sooo comforting to have finally found an honest, fair and timely mechanic/auto shop. I wish I would have let Huds fix it the first three times this same issue came up. Finally went to the right person. HUDs is beyond wonderful. They never pressured me about what needed to be done. They dont fix anything until you confirm and they are very open about what they are doing and how much it will be, which wasnt absolutely absurd, like with what Ive been told and paid elsewhere. I truly appreciate how these guys took car of me and my vehicle. Like I said my vehicle has had this repair done multiple times, supposedly, and it always took anywhere from 7-15 days. I had my car back in 2. TWO!!..and that was after I was relieved to know I wouldnt have to sell a kidney for the repair, so I asked them to also do a brake service, bc they had been squeaking. Which they also called and discussed service & pricing before doing. I can not believe I didnt find Huds sooner. I will NEVER go anywhere else for auto service again. I highly recommend Huds to anyone needing honest, quality, inexpensive auto service! Thank you Huds for being so great! Especially Nathan, Cameron and Mr. Hud himself. As someone with ZERO mechanical knowledge, its comforting to know that Im not being taken advantage of when I take my car to Huds. Their staff is knowledgeable and willing to work with you when you cant afford to do everything they are suggesting. I often have to ask what is the minimum I can do and still have a safe car? and they are quick to suggest what has to be done vs. what can wait. They are honest and fair and as much as it stinks having to have work done on your car, you can rest assured that youre getting fair work at a fair price when you trust your vehicle to Hud.

Car drives noticeably better after the alignment. I could tell a difference as soon as I turned out onto 82nd. Street. Even the joints in the pavement are smoother and quieter. Thank you for a good job.

Had the engine and transmission mounts replaced without my consent. The work was good though. Engine shield underneath broke after picking up the car and took it back for a replacement. Good work combined with wasted time and unnecessary frustrations made me want to not come back.I simply cant come back to this 2 years later. Wish you the best.

I took my Toyota Corolla to Huds because I was having issues with the car hesitating on starting. They checked it over and found a faulty starter. Before starting the repair they contacted me, and gave me an estimate for the parts and labor. I gave my approval and within a couple of hours I was contacted again and told that it was ready. The final cost was actually a little below the estimate. This makes the second time that I have taken my Corolla to Huds for mechanical work. Both times the work was done quickly, and at a fair price. I also have had no issues with the quality of work done.

This is the only automotive repair shop for me. I have been taking my cars to them for years and always receive great service and fair pricing.

I had several people look at my car no one could tell me exactly what was wrong. As a single mother money was tight and my car was having trouble I went here and not only were they able to fix my car but did it at no cost to me. They said it was a very simple fix just needed to add a bolt and refused to take payment from me. The staff was super friendly and even help to entertain my son while the repair was being made I wish more businesses had the report and demeanor of this establishment. A huge thank you to HUDs, I would recommend their service to anyone!

Very CROOKED/DISHONEST people. I took it in there a week prior and asked about my timing belt, they said it was fine and then 6 days later my car stalls on me. They had it towed the next day and said they would look at it. Told me it was the timing belt. Didnt even acknowledge that they told me not to worry about it 6 days prior. He then did in authorized work on my vehicle and was going to charge me $300 even though I told him to have it towed back. Then, my dad called and said that it was only fair I was charged for the tow that I authorized. When I got there to get my car they had it in the shop with the hood up even though they said it was done. Then, sent me on my way home and my engine blew. So, essentially they sabatoged my car and have been lying the whole time. Now, I need a new vehicle.

Received great service, I had tried to go to another mechanic the day before hand that tried to charge me $225 for a part that didn’t seem necessary, came into huds and they were able to fix it with a $2 part instead of selling me on things I didn’t need. Will definitely use again

Been using Hud’s for repair work for well over a decade now. Honestly can’t imagine going anywhere else as I’ve really appreciated all my encounters with the owners and staff, which isn’t something I thought I’d ever say out loud about a repair shop! I’ve had both expensive and trivial visits and always felt I was being dealt with fairly and truthfully.

Had some major strut repair done. Great job at a fair price. They were up-front and easy to work with.

The clutch cable broke on my car. I paid, 85 for a tow, and it took them a little over a week to fix it. I paid 100 for labor. I drive it home and it the cable breaks on the way home. It wasnt replaced. I call to make arrangements for them to order the parts, a week goes by. I finally call today and he said he forgot to order them. Going on 3 weeks with no vehicle, and 185 dollars thrown away. I do not recommend

Spent $200 for rotors on my car. Still squeaking. Went back twice nothing got accomplished. Took it to get inspected and my rotors feel like sand paper.Maybe rotors just arent their thing but I probably wont go back.

They even have a FREE shuttle that can take you where you need to go while your vehicle is being worked on. I totally recommend. The price can seem a little high but youre getting what you pay for. Ive never had to have any mechanical work done before, but i knew most Shops are like used car dealerships; trying to squeeze very dollar out of you for the least amount of work. This is not that kind of place.I paid 45 for Angies list just to make sure I didnt get screwed my first time going to a mechanic, and these guys where top of there list for a reason.after looking over my car they gave me the price for each repair and asked which ones i wanted as well and which ones I needed. the shuttle service was fantastic and they even accepted a 25% off coupon from Angies list as well as one they have on their website for brakes. these guys are amazing people. From the sounds of the one star reviews, I think they have this place confused with another shop because nothing they say lines up with the service at this place.

I brought it in & they said there was nothing wrong with it & a few days later it broke down and it is beyond repair....now I am without a vehicle, I am a struggling college student & left without transportation....I have no idea what I am going to do at this point & they have totally lied about what they did...

I drove my suv across the country when I moved to Lubbock. When I got here though, my brakes were wrecked. I called Huds asking how long and how much it cost to get them repaired. They told me they could do it the same day and then gave me a very reasonable price. I dropped my suv off around 10am and they were done by 2. The man at the deck was very friendly and went over the price again. I will go here again if my car ever needs it, because I know they dont try to rip you off and have very good customer service.

Cannot say enough about Huds. My TTU daughter had a very bad experience with another vendor (closer to campus). We decided to try Huds based on the positive reviews. They diagnosed the issue as a problem with the gas cap not sealing properly, cleaned the seal and did not charge her for the service. THANKS SO MUCH!

Awesome experience I was told it be a few hours and my car was fixed up with new breaks and tire rotation all in about 1 hour 45 minutes. Thanks guys will be back when I have another issue.

Hud did great work on my Focus. That poor thing was in trouble when I brought it in. Him and his crew fixed it up quickly and it works fantastic! My car had a recurring problem which was a pain in the butt being a college student away from home and home being six hours away didn’t help, of course I needed my car. Searching for a mechanic that would help me I came across Huds. It seemed to be ran by a trustworthy little family that were very nice. To get to the point I was fooled by these guys and ripped off of my money. Being as popular as they are, I would think their work would be great but I always had to go back for something else. Once I got back home after they finished fixing my girl up one last time, the problems occurred yet once again on my way home. I was angry, I put at least one grand of money I barely had into the car. While at home I could finally try to fix my car myself when I wasn’t on limited time to drive up to Lubbock. It took a week of searching but I finally found the source of the problems and after that it ran as it should with no problems. Either Huds Auto Service wasn’t great at diagnosing the problem or they just loved taking my money. I don’t recommend you going to Huds unless your hobby is giving thieves your hard earned money.

They replaced a universal joint right before a long road trip. The joint blew out a hundred miles from town, and Hud paid the tow bill to bring the car back to Lubbock.Thanks for being honest, Hud! Im recommending you to everyone who asks.

I am a broke ass Tech student. Huds treated me with respect, understanding, and got my car dependably back on the road very quickly. They charge reasonably. Where all the other automotive shops inside the loop are looking to take your money and dish you out shoddy repairs, Huds looks to make you a repeat customer and keep you running smooth. I was so well treated by these guys that I take as many opportunities as I can to recommend them to my friends, family, hell Id tell anyone to go there just to give that great man some more business. Quality business, quality mechanics, just quality all around. If theres a bad word out there about Hud I can guarantee that the person speaking it isnt telling the whole story. I recommend you see for yourself why this shop has so many five star reviews because youll be writing one yourself if you do.

Its hard to give such a yucky day 5 stars, but Huds made a terrible situation bearable. We were in Lubbock for a school function for a couple of days when my car starting making a strange noise. I wanted to get it checked out before we drove 5 hours home with kids in the car, and Im glad we did. Robert was extremely nice and helpful over the phone and told us to come on over and theyd fit us in. It didnt take Hud 5 minutes to determine that my alternator was about to quit on me. Not only did they fit in the repair, Huds wife, Lisa (I think?!) gave us a ride to a neighboring shopping center so we could grab a bite to eat and hang out while it was being fixed. They also replaced a couple of pulleys for only the cost of the parts and not labor since that part was already in pieces. Aaron, another tech, was also super nice and helpful when we returned to pick up the car. All in all, it is never fun when your car breaks down (especially when you are out of town!), but Huds took great care of us and I would recommend them to anyone.

Brought my car in on a Thursday morning. They inspected it while I waited, but told me they didnt know what was wrong with it so Id have to drop it back off. I was told that the problem could probably be fixed if I left it there for a whole day.I made an appointment to drop it off the following Monday, but my circumstances changed, so I called them to move my appointment to Thursday. Appointments apparently mean nothing to this place, because when I went to drop off my car on Thursday, they did not remember who I was, and when they found the sheet with my name on it, it still had appointment Monday @ 8:30AM written at the top.When I dropped the car off, I confirmed with my mechanics that they would call me as soon as they found out what was wrong with my car. I dont know if other people had appointments for that day or not, but when I finally called them at 3:00PM, they told me they hadnt taken a look at it yet. I had been told it would take one day total, not one day to even look at it! What a waste of time!They finally did take a look and called me back an hour later, saying that a part would need to be ordered and that theyd have it the following day. I asked if they would have it completed before 4:00PM the following day, because I needed my car to go to work. They said yes, it should certainly be done by then. I told them to go ahead and go for it.The next day came (Friday) and they still hadnt called me by 2:45PM. I called and Hud said the part just came in and I could pick up the car at 6PM. At this point I was so frustrated-- it seemed like nobody was listening to me, and that everyone was just telling me what I wanted to hear at the moment rather than taking a second to think and then relating the truth. Obviously I could not pick up the car at 6-- I worked at 4! Hud said he was sorry, asked me what I wanted them to do since the part just came in, and said I could pick it up at 9 the next day (Saturday). Suddenly my 1-day appointment became a 3-day fiasco, all the while leaving me stranded and struggling to get to work.The main point: I feel I was treated poorly. They kept telling me something and then changing it. Most of all, I feel the organization and communication at this place sucks. The purpose of an appointment is to make sure they will have time to do the work they promise within a specific time frame. People answering the phone would tell me something and not pass the information along to others. I was very frustrated with this shop and will not be using it again. I am so disappointed-- the other reviews were SO positive!

My car overheated on my way to a doctors appt and thank goodness, I was one block from Huds. I did a quick Google search, being from out of town, to find a car repair place close. Huds was just one of three but their reviews were fantastic so I pulled in. I explained to them my situation and they immediately offered to take me to my doctors appointment while they looked under the hood. I was at my appointment on time and by the time I got out, everything was looked over and they had figured out the problem. They picked me back up and I was on my way home much sooner than I probably wouldve been anywhere else. They even found another problem I wasnt aware of (unrelated to the overheating) and gave me the info for my local repairman instead of fixing it themselves without asking, like has happened to me before.Hud himself and another staff member were very polite and didnt make me feel unknowledgable at all. Such great customer service!
