Bang for your buck for sure. wedding season begin! the opportunities for sever different spots for an outside weeding along the river or upper meadows are both gorgeous, u cant go wrong. Dinning/ Reception area is perfect for 80-90 people, anything above that still works well, but slightly crowded. They have amazing options for dining available and do allow for the most magical sunset outdoor reception dance parties. there are lots of family games throughout the venue for your wedding parties weekend stay that builds for great bonding and fun. the rooms leave a little to be desired, but they are close to each other with adorable little patios to sit on while u listen to the river pass around the complex. definitely check this place out for family reunions, weddings, or just a group get away.... super fun.

We were married at Sylvan Dale on 5/29 and had the best wedding ever. We had so many guest come up and tell us it was the best wedding they had ever been to. I wouldn’t be surprised if some guests even booked a stay this summer because it was the PERFECT place. We did a whole weekend there and got to explore the place and truly disconnect from everything and fully be in the moment. We were fishing on the river, playing games, had bonfires, and got to sit and stare at the amazing horses grazing.Sam, the wedding coordinator, was so helpful through every single step. She’d answer every random question and give advice on what would work best. She really made the day flow and handled our rowdy bunch. The food was delicious and drool worthy. We even had plates saved for us and left at our room on our wedding night which was so thoughtful and definitely a nice touch. The prime rib and the mashed potatoes were PERFECTION!The servers/bartenders were there both days and were so sweet and helpful.I have no doubt that we will be back to Sylvan Dale soon whether for a trail ride, simple vacation, or family reunion.I cannot recommend this place or the people who work there more.

SDR is the most magical place to be. From the land to the authentic traditions, this ranch will take you through an experience that you have never journeyed. I cant say enough about the staff, the wranglers, all of the activity instructors (Joel for YOGA!), the horses, and of course Susan and Dave, who take you through the week in awe of their love and history of this place. We cannot wait to go back for summer vacation next year. If you are on the fence -- book your vacation here, you wont regret it. It was truly life changing for our family.

Amazing experience overall. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for the dude ranch experience. The lodging was to be expected, a bit dated but nicely done with the right amount of space. The grounds were great, excellent for kids and probably really nice in the summer when everything is open. There are a good number of outdoor and indoor activities, with equipment. Only issue is that the equipment is a bit dated and could use some TLC.Staff was great though! Really helpful and the horse staff was amazing as well! Lorrie took us on a great ride and we had an exciting time. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a horse ride or dude ranch stay.

We had our daughters wedding at the ranch. Our daughter and her husband really wanted an outside wedding and this is a beautfiul yet convenient location. When checking out ranches and other outdoor locations Sylvan Dale offered the most for our money. The wedding coordinator was able to help us with vendors, scheduling, and decorations. The staff was very helpful before, during, and after the wedding. Unfortunately, we didnt get to stay the night as the Cameron Pike Fire caused us to evacuate but we do plan on going back to stay the night and go horseback riding. The 4 families in this photo—and a couple more—met as complete strangers at Sylvan Dale Ranch this week. Our hearts were so touched by the amazing staff and our shared laughter, meals, trail rides, outdoor adventures, campfire singing, storytelling and Sylvan Dale love (you can just feel it in the air!), that we literally shed tears when we parted. Friends forever, without a doubt. This place will change you and your family for the better. Super clean, comfortable and charming lodging. Unparalleled dining. Delightful and accommodating staff. Gracious and caring owners. Astounding natural beauty. Hundreds of beautiful, private hideaway spots for reading, relaxing and quiet reflection. And too many activity options to even attempt to list here. There’s something just wonderfully magical and inspiring about Sylvan Dale Ranch. Whatever it is, I’m convinced that our crazy world needs a lot more of it. We WILL be back. Thank you Sylvan Dale for the best vacation of our lives!

My son and new daughter-in-law had their wedding at Sylvan Dale last weekend. The venue provided a beautiful setting for their ceremony. Every staff member was extremely friendly, helpful and always professional. The wedding party and families spent the weekend in the nice cabins and houses at the ranch. This provided a great atmosphere for everyone to spend time together, including at the delicious breakfasts that were included with the stay.I was aware that the future bride and groom started the planning process with Sara, the previous wedding coordinator at Sylvan Dale.. Unfortunately, due to family circumstances, Sara left her job recently. I want to thank Sara for all that she did; recommending the best vendors in the area, offering advise to and always being attentive to the wedding couple. Then came Melissa, the new wedding coordinator. Melissa stepped up to the task and immediately made everyone feel at ease with her positive and confident persona. We all felt that the wedding was in good hands and that it would be perfect. And, it was!!! Melissa was absolutely awesome and everyone loved her! I cant say enough good about her!!!Thanks to every staff member at Sylvan Dale for providing such a wonderful experience for our special event!

The views of the Thompson canyon and the surrounding mountain ranges make for a gorgeous scene with all of the horses, and big horn sheep on the property. It is a perfect setting for a wedding. Another plus was that our wedding party could stay on the property in their own cabins which made everything very convenient and fun for the day of the wedding. When we originally booked our wedding here, we were working with Sarah. She did a great job with helping us create our big day. We then started working with Melissa, it was as if we had been working with her from the beginning. All of the staff at Sylvan Dale were very friendly and accommodating. The Food was excellent. So many of our guests mentioned how beautiful and fun everything was. This review is LONG overdue. My stay at Sylvan Dale started in the summer of 2014 as a volunteer with my friend Casey. We came from New Jersey and stayed at the ranch for 6 weeks as volunteers. The owners and staff were SO welcoming and SO thankful for our help! They gave us comfortable accommodations and 3 meals a day Monday-Friday. We had tons of fun learning about the ranchs history, the cattle, the horses, and how to run a guest ranch. They even let us go on trail rides with guests. We were terribly sad to leave, but we had other things scheduled for our summer. Unfortunately, some of the other horse-related volunteer work we had planned for our summer did NOT go so well, so in a panic (on my birthday!) we called Susan (owner) out of the blue 9or maybe she called us, I cant remember!) begging to come back. They were ecstatic and ended up hiring us on (paid!) for the rest of the summer as wranglers. I can honestly say this was one of the best summers of my life! They run a safe, welcoming, and professional guest ranch with all of the best intentions. This past summer I returned as a guest to share the magic of Sylvan Dale with my boyfriend and finally got to see how things were from the other side. We had a great time as BnB guests. We were able to go on a few trail rides (including a cattle drive) and they invited us to extra meals as an extra thank you for helping a few years back. I recommend Sylvan Dale to all of my friends and family and hope to be able to make it a tradition for my family in the future!

I took my inexperienced family, to say the least to the Guest Ranch, in September 2013. We were the first to hit the trails after the floods. Susan was one of our escorts, as well as Lonnie. This was one of my favorite vacations, ever. When we were having a hard time getting there due to the flooding and roads closed, the State Troopers came to get us there safely. They were great with taking us on the correct trails, and we loved the stories and the scenery was without a doubt breathtaking. I cannot wait to do it again. They even supplied boots and cowboy hats, for us foolish city folk. Wonderful Place, wonderful People.

We recently celebrated our wedding at Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch and Im sorry to say that our overall experience was a poor one.The Good:The venue was beautiful and in the end we had a very memorable day. The front desk staff were very polite and accommodating. The staff helping set up/clean up after our rehearsal dinner were also polite and accommodating. Christy was also nice enough to allow us on site hours before our ceremony to set up / decorate. The Bad:As a person that makes a living in complex business operations, I would give Sylvan Dale 0 stars if it were an option. What drove us to choose Sylvan Dale were the reviews and the location. There were two key areas that I feel they were well below par in... 1) communication 2)misleading information1) Communication: Due to circumstances out of their control, our wedding coordinator had to move home to attend to family business. We very much understand that things happen and were compassionate to the situation but what bothered us was the absence of communication. No one contacted us to let us know that the person we spent the last 6 months planning the event was no longer working there. It was through my own communication that we learned of the situation. In my opinion, that is completely unacceptable and a 2 minute phone call would have rectified the situation and put us at ease. We had made multiple trips from Denver to the site to work with our previous coordinator to ensure that the outside vendors (flowers, DJ, etc.) were ready to go. I even flew my wifes mother in on multiple occasions to visit the venue and assist with the planning. When our coordinator left, so did most/all of our wedding plans. Not only were we not contacted of the changes but neither were our vendors (we selected our vendors based on Sylvan Dales recommendations and existing relationship). Our vendors also complained about the poor handling of the situation. I made multiple attempts to contact the owner of the Ranch to express our displeasure but didnt receive a call or email until the week of the event. Again, there were extenuating circumstances as to why the owner didnt respond but not once did any of the staff respond to my requests with a reason why we werent being contacted.2) Misleading Information:When deciding on a venue, we reviewed all that Sylvan Dale had to offer. Part of the package is wedding coordination... which makes up 20% of your total cost. The extent of the coordination was a template email in which we were asked to fill in the blanks about our event, the week before our event!!! While I understand the situation that Sylvan Dale was put in by an unexpected event, Im not comfortable paying thousands of dollars for my wife and me to fill in a template. You can only imagine our stress level when we have 80 guests flying in from across the country and all we had to rely on for success was a timeline template. It blew me away that when I explained this to the owner (who was very nice) that she didnt bat an eyelash, maybe we have an altered sense of what wedding coordination involves but in my opinion it involves actual coordination. At the end of the day a couple thousand dollars is a drop in the bucket when you are paying for a wedding and neither of us had the energy to argue the point. I just wanted to move forward and enjoy our wedding day :)In summary, if you are looking for a beautiful location to have your wedding, Sylvan Dale might be your place. Everything about it was quaint and cozy and the ceremony site had amazing views. However, our overall experience was extremely poor and I would not recommend the venue. We ended up with a beautiful wedding but I attribute none of it to Sylvan Dale directly. The vendors were absolutely amazing and our family and friends made it very memorable.

Not only did we ride an hour in the cold rain, I was stupid enough to take my small wallet with me as well. As we were riding, it must have slipped out of my pocket and got lost on the trail. Here it is a month later and I get a call from their front desk staff saying they found it. Despite the fact that I had already took precautions, I still liked the wallet (It was metal and a keepsake I will always cherish). I cant thank them enough for putting up with me that day and still keeping me in their thoughts as they found it and were kind enough to let me know that they had.Thank you Sylvan Dale and your wranglers and staff. Breakfast was alright and the morning staff was polite, our dinner staff for the wedding reception there was one nice lady who ended up later telling us to quit doing her job as we were instructed we had to clean everything our selves. The pool was unusable, the bon fire was way understocked! 10 pieces of wood for an all night bonfire?? We had a small fire and had to find wood from all of our Cabins. The bed in the Anderson house is indented in the middle so you cant sleep comfortably. There is a fine for people bringing outside alcohol, understandably so, but only the bride and groom knew about it and the staff said nothing to help us keep people aware! Overall the staff was mostly nice and helpful while doing bare minimum, and it was way overpriced for being mediocre.

I have attended two weddings here, separated by 2 decades. Both events were professionally hosted, and very enjoyable. Cellular service is nearly non-existent.

Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch, what a joke. Our daughter had her wedding there on September 1st 2017, 5 weeks prior to her wedding my daughter is told after many attempts via email and unreturned phone calls that the wedding coordinator was no longer with the facility. TheNew coordinator found no need to inform her clients and no attempt to contact them at any time.Summer Vine AND Ryan Roberts found themselves being asked to basically re-plan the whole wedding that they had worked on for a whole year. Finally the groom had to take over the communication as the bride was so distraught (so much for the stress free experience that they rave so highly about and promised) they were basically ignored at the first mention of dissatisfaction and the owner all but refused to return phone requests untill three days prior to the wedding, stating that she was sorry but it was what it was and not much she could do (without even offering any sort of resolution.)The facility was beautiful but the service was so less than professional it was heart breaking to watch my daughter and son in-law go through this disastrous experience.Last but not least, I was approached by staff the day of the event that the Order had not come in and they would not have enough food for our guests, asking if it would be ok to substitute the menu with re-heated leftovers from the rehearsal dinner the night brfore? ARE U KIDDING ME, SERIOUSLY. I told them that this was unacceptable and the had better work it out.Ryan and Sumner made the best of it for it was the start of there new life together, the ceremony was beautiful, and Dirk(the inefficient) was amazing as was our flower lady(Debbie). The last day at the facility, I was again approached by the staff stating that they were displeased because someone used more wood than was provided. We took it from OUR cabins.
