I truly, truly try to not write bad reviews. Sometimes it just is what it is and you move on and have a hard lesson. This 3-year $20,000 dollar lesson needs to be shared. We were recommended Dryg Butler from a friend of ours. He was very polite; at the time, seemed very knowledgeable and I finally felt we were in good hands when it came to protecting ourselves from the IRS.After a tax audit that is now 3 years running and a bill from Dryg Butler for $5000 dollars, I now understand I made a horrible mistake by using this company. Just to file our taxes, it cost thousands of dollars. With that bill, we expected at least a degree of oversight or review of what we were giving them. I now know that all they did with the information was put it in to their software and send us a bill.Whenever we asked for tax advice from Mr. Butler (the person we were paying an exorbitant amount an hour to) he quickly told us to ask a tax attorney as he clearly cared more about litigation than helping his clients. He was always polite, but polite doesnt make a good CPA.When we first told Mr. Butler that we were being audited, his response was, If you want me to be there, I will, but it will be at my normal hourly rate of course. No remorse, no attempt to help us understand why we were audited. I understand he runs a business and I appreciate wanting to get compensated for your time, unfortunately, his lack of attention to detail is what led to our situation in the first place. I wasnt mad that he said it would be at his normal rate; I was disappointed that he took zero ownership for the situation. He did however make it very, very clear that the mistake was ours and that he was not liable at all. That is not an exaggeration; I have the email with the direct quote.I hate to leave a bad review, but people need to know that there is very little, if no oversight done on the documents you send to them. If you have any errors, those errors will be put into your tax return. If I would have known that was the case I would have saved the 5k, and filed on TurboTax.I know he will respond explaining how we did not attach a certain document that included our deductions, that we take ownership of. My question to you, Mr. Butler, if I, as a non-CPA, am paying you to file my taxes for the sole purpose of wanting to ensure they are done correctly, do you feel I have also paid for the peace of mind that you will actually do your job and ensure our taxes were done correctly?

We recently hired Dryg & Associates as our accountants to prepare our personal and business tax returns; as well as, to advise us on important tax planning strategies. We are extremely satisfied with both their knowledge and service! Teresa Kaufman has an outstanding command of the tax code. She does an excellent job explaining topics, strategies and issues. Furthermore, she cites the sources for her information so her clients can have both a better understanding of the information, as well as, confidence in her knowledge. The staff at Dryg & Assoc. is also very knowledgeable, responsive and polite. We have used several other accounting firms in the past who often gave us misinformation and made mistakes we had to catch and fix; not so with Dryg & Associates! We highly recommend this accounting firm!
