I worked at St Joseph Childrens Home for just over nine years. In my time at St Joes, I was in charge of booth construction for the annual picnic, a certified SCM Instructor, and a Residential Supervisor in one of the cottages. Just under a year ago, I was fired without cause. Even though I was fired without cause, I wasnt allowed to say goodbye to the kids or my co-workers. I never received any of the vacation pay that I had accrued, was taken off the rehire list, and banned from their property. Shortly after this post goes public, Im guessing that there will be an email from the owner underneath my comment, reaching out to me, letting me know that I can share my concerns via email. If this happens, I will reach out to St Joes. If St Joes makes a legit effort to rectify the way that I was treated, I will take this post down and give them a more favorable rating. If they dont, this post and the one star rating will stay.

St Joseph is not really a children’s home. it’s a cash grab for the leadership that houses traumatized children. children who are further traumatized by a poorly trained and maintained staff and lazy leadership that refuses to address issues when they’re brought to their attention. i saw dozens of children abused during my time there and when i finally spoke out about it, i was ostracized. i put in my two weeks notice and 6 months later when the allotted time to wait between employment and volunteering with the kids was over, i asked to volunteer with the children, and i found i was ordered to have no-contact with the clients. not because of any potential harm to the children, but to spite me. julie and grace do not care about anything but image and damage control, so i’m looking forward to being contacted after this review. i don’t see money or compassion going to the kids, but i do see the CEO has a couple of very nice cars while comparatively the entire CDC staff is being paid completely unlivable wages. stop donating to St Joseph, it’s really not about the kids there.

I have always loved the annual picnic but I am also appreciative of the work they do to support children in need in our community. ♥️

If I could give zero stars as an option I would. The child development center has wonderful stuff that work directly with the children but the director of the CDC is a horrible individual. She mistreats the staff, degrades staff, displays favorites, does not send illl children home to avoid the spread the sickness, & refuses to tell the parents or new employees that St Joes is no longer a catholic organization but still portrays themselves as one

The picnic was fun but the dinner food is overpriced for what you get. It is a piece of chicken, an ice cream scoop of green beans, slaw and potatoes. Not even any dessert included. Next time I come I will not eat there.

All I can say is that the children are well treated and the people running the home are very professional.
