We had a great experience and have been with our good boy Jax (previously Mando) for a couple years now. The pup we initially were going to adopt died unexpectedly, and although it took a while for them to get back to us about his condition, but they were wonderful with the aftermath of that and helped us find a new fit for our home. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a GSD.
Emailed and exchanged information about what kind of dog we were looking at, that probably took about a week or two and set up a time and place for a meet and greet with the pups! We ended up taking two home, but unfortunately it wasnt going to work the two dogs just couldnt get along unfortunately. So we had to email them back and she replied a few hours later, as I know from our conversation that they all work full time and do the rescue full time as well! I ended up driving back one dog.I would give them time to get back to you if youre looking for a dog! Here is a picture of the pup we kept! Hes a older guy, but a great dog!
Approximately 16 months ago, my wife and I lost our Sassy May, a beautiful mixed breed dog adopted from the Human Society. After five months of heart break, we adopted a wonderful and loving German Shepherd (Carrie) which we renamed Bella May. Susan at Tier Haven was a pleasure to work with. She helped us pick the right dog and guided my wife and me through the entire process. Tier Haven is and will be the only place well ever visit for future adoptions. Well always encourage others to do the same and support Tier Haven as well.
Been several days trying to get ahold of them. With NO PHONE NUMBER no one can get in touch with them.
Extremely unprofessional organization. Money hungry and don’t care about the animals or the people. Only want to make money. Would not ever recommend this clearly for profit organization.
Tier Haven has 22 years & counting of passionate animal advocacy, rescue, rehabilitation & compassion for their dogs. The application process is thorough & open to all walks of life looking to adopt. The team dedicates their lives each day to the love & care of the organization as a whole. We are honored to adopt, volunteer & do all we can to support this incredibly devoted team.
I had a wonderful experience with this organization and cannot recommend it too highly. Three months ago I adopted a three year old German Shepherd from them. They checked my references and let me meet three dogs, one that I thought I was interested in and two that they thought might interest me. They hit the nail on the head. One of the dogs that they suggested has become my companion. It is one of the best decisions I have made in my life. The dog is wonderful.
I was really excited to adopt a dog from this rescue, so I sent an email asking if the two I was interested in meeting were still available, and if there might be anyway I could get some health information on them. As we have a GSD right now with a health issue. I have received not a single email back from these people and I have emailed them multiple times and from different emails. Its just sad they are running a rescue but dont seem to want their dogs to find homes.
I had a wonderful and speedy experience when adopting my Rizzo! Emma was super quick to respond and was very kind.
If I could leave zero stars I would. I don’t know what is wrong with these people, and after reading a couple glowing reviews some others have left about what a joy “Susan” was to work with, I’m in shock. After corresponding for 3 WEEKS (with multiple emails on my end trying to get responses) trying to adopt beautiful Apollo, having an APPROVED adoption application, they suddenly decided that I “wasn’t ready” to adopt, like I’m a 16 year old asking my parents for a drivers license.I never even got to do a meet and greet. I spent a lot of time and money getting ready to make sure I had everything ready to bring him home, only to be talked to in the worst, condescending manner.I have spent countless hours with all different types of animals, volunteered at my local shelters, and was more than happy to take him to professional training if need be.These people are a complete sham and I don’t recommend wasting your time.
Tier haven was wonderful to work with. I emailed asking if a dog was available that I found on petfinder. Within 24 hours, Emma emailed me back from Tier haven sending me an application. She was very thorough and made sure we were a good match. I ended up taking Molly home the next week and she is perfect!
Emailed 3 different emails can not get a reaponse as no phone number is listed either.
I hate that I am writing this bad review. I had researched and followed Tier Haven for a few years and looked forward to working with them when we were ready to adopt a GSD as our next family member. When I requested our application we received a response quickly and I returned the completed paperwork within an hour. It has been three weeks since we voiced our interest in a particular dog without a single response to the emails I sent. I do know they called our references, but only because my references told me. To make things worse they adopted out the dog we had voiced interest in (which is great for that dog, it makes me so happy). But it was difficult for my daughter to understand why we didnt hear anything or get approved. It is surprising that someone with a Social Worker background would advocate for a dog in this manner. We were about to begin the process with GSD rescue of Indy when we found a GSD through another rescue close to home that was a fit for us. If you dont mind a bit of a drive, I highly recommend researching GSD Rescue of Indy, their organization is impressive, they have a good vetting process, they respond quickly, and they are also certified with American German Shepherd Rescue Association.I am happy that some people have had good experiences because that means a sweet dog found his/her home. I do hope this organization re-evaluates their process and finds a way to serve this amazing breed better. It takes all of 10 seconds to respond to an email and communicate with an applicant. If someones application is being reviewed, simply let them know. If they do not qualify, let them know. Please put as much effort into responding to emails as you do to Social Media presence and Petfinder descriptions.
Had to beg for a response and when they finally responded to my email with QUESTIONS, they were rude and unprofessional.
I’ve made multiple attempts at contacting this business all of which have been unsuccessful.
Very caring
Maybe the person answering had a bad day or something but I still don’t think that is a good excuse. After calling the number and asking if it was the dog rescue service, the woman answering simply barked several times before hanging up. I hoped that if I immediately called back I could convince them I was serious(as if I ever implied that I wasn’t) so I did, but this time she meowed over me asking the same question before hanging up. My wife called as well and they claimed the number on the site isn’t the number for the rescue. Pretty annoyed at yet another dead end of a rescue. I suggest taking down the number if the owner of the number has nothing to do with tier haven
Fantastic rescue! I have adopted two dogs from them, our Freddie just this past November. Theyve been in the rescue business since at least the late 90s when we adopted our first GSD from them. No rescue could be more devoted to finding the best dog-home fit which is exactly what a good rescue should do. Communication was timely, never had any problems in that area. This is a group of volunteers that foster GSDs, not a rescue with a central location. All the volunteers are just that - volunteers. They have families and jobs outside of their volunteer work. Be patient about hearing back. It will be well worth the wait!
Great sounding organization but they simply do not answer emails and thus do not let anyone adopt their dogs. Not a good way to run a rescue if you never have room for more dogs to rescue because you wont let anyone adopt them.
Such a caring group of people. They save so many lives! So thankful to have them in the Louisville area.
Susan and others at Tier Haven were great to work with when we were looking for a German Shepherd rescue. They took their time to get to know us and our experience level with animals and Shepherds in particular. We met with them several times to visit with several different dogs before finally deciding to adopt Conrad.Conrad was a stray that was about 20 pounds underweight and had the usual problems that come from living on the streets. After several months of TLC.... He is now a happy healthy beautiful German Shepherd Dog . He is super loyal, friendly, and protective. Thanks Tier Haven for taking the time to match us with the right dog. You do great work.
Does not answer emails. Not a good business.
I sent in an adoption application and was unable to get in touch with them for the next week. However, my mom got an email back within 24 hours of sending in the application. They seem to only be professional when it is convenient for them. They have no business hours or phone number online to contact them. Very unprofessional.
I was in contact with the rescue from February 12 to February 26. I filled out their form, answered questions and did everything I could. They were about to schedule me to go meet and greet the dog I was trying to adopt, River. My fiance is a dog trainer so we thought we would be a great match, as River had reaction problems. But, unfortunately, right before they did that they completely stopped answering. Their last contact was February 20th. I sent two emails 5 days apart to ensure it was not a technical error. I did a lot of work and spent a lot of money on things I would need specifically for this dog in hopes of showing them we would be a good home for him. Im very disappointed that they could not come through for me and allow this poor pup a forever home. I just wonder what goes through their heads when they dont answer/stop answering someone. Was there a reason? Was I not good enough? I dont know.. I am about to send one more email, if it gets answered then I will remove this review.Maybe Im just paranoid but I feel like they just got all my information in their form and my location and then just ghosted me. Is this place a scam? Its very uncharacteristic of a rescue to do this. Im confused.
Awesome people doing exceptional service to the paw population.
I emailed them and never got a response back until I said I’m going to a different organisation and they said that I threatened them it seems like they want no one to adopt their pets would not recommend this rescue the Kentucky Humane Society gets back to you within 24hrs I would definitely recommend them
No longer accepting our intaking animals.
Never answered my email
Great place!
Little to no communication :-(
