I was extremely nervous prior to working with Jig Reel Studios because I’m new to LA by ways of NY, and I didn’t know anyone personally that has worked with the studio. Shortly after speaking with Justin and getting further information on the process all my nerves turned to excitement, I knew I was on the right path. I originally wanted to do 1 scene and ended up completing 2! Words cannot explain what an amazing experience I’ve had. Fromchoosing my scripts down to being able to rehearsing in studio with one of the most talented directors. Upon arriving I was extremely comfortable. The team arranged for me was perfect to say the least, even down to my scene partners. I don’t think I could have had such an amazing experience without all of the people involved. Actors should know! In August I called to book a 3 scene produced reel shoot.Although I am a Union actor, it is clear to me that their standards are no where near union, as one reason we have a union is to prevent massive losses of time on the performers behalf for a task that should be able to be taken care of in a realistic amount of time; especially in scenarios where they put their best foot forward, and then are taken for granted/advantage of. Because this is not paid work, in fact you are paying to produce, they are not subjected to follow any labor laws on set or Union rules for actors they are working with. They take advantage of this as a production co.The guy on the phone was speed talking as fast as possible, and hardly a consultation. They had a 4 MONTH WAITING LIST, and I decided to wait, because the guy on the phone was swearing up and down how great their reels are. He emphasized You should see our waiting list!! This is an unprofessional way to let clients know that you are fully booked out for months; but took my chances, and reserved a spot anyways. I told him I would be calling back shortly with the dates as had a potential trip planned for the ONLY DAY he had available in FOUR MONTHS other than saying well you can go after someone else. So I wait FOUR MONTHS, have a phone conference with my talent agent announcing this new reel and new scenes and asking for their input on characters, types, etc. All the time, waiting on JIG REEL!About 2 weeks before the date, I was contacted for a 5 day UNION background job + fitting + COVID TEST. That is a full week of Union work, background or not, this is a lot of $$. Furthermore, oppurtunities can come out of a long term BG job, and also I have been on FURLOUGH from my DAYJOB as a licensed professional and REALLY needed to book this job. But I also REALLY needed a new reel as a principle performer and had put down a $400 deposit to reserve the November 30 shoot date. So I turned down the work, and lost the opportunity, all the pay too because I was on hold for this reel shoot with JIG REEL STUDIOS for the day of the fitting, thus counting me out for availability to work. Upon noticing that it seemed strange several days prior to the shoot to have not received any confirmations in writing or a call sheet, I decided to call and confirm the details. Surely enough, they had forgotten about me, although they had no problem taking my money, and said they thought I wanted to wait on confirming a date. He didnt remember me calling and confirming this date to shoot!! He also could have cared less about my special circumstances (read below). His response was nearly argumentative, as if I had done something wrong (they should have been apologizing and fixing it HENCE the review). The response was well you should see how booked up and how busy we are. As a small business owner myself who takes private clients for top dollar, this is not a professional way to speak to a client when you are fully booked and there are other ways to say this and go about bookings in a professional manner. They wanted me to leave my $400 deposit and just wait again for a couple months. I decided to ask for a refund, which thankfully I received.PS. I wrote/directed/produced a feature film in 2017, cast of Emmy winners, etc. I notified them I am a Union actor who has had to change my entire portfolio and delete all my REELS after being injured while in a cast/crew shuttle that was hit by a drunk driver after wrapping in 2017. They didnt even remember my story during this process. It is a big deal! Compassion goes a long way.This seems like a place I call a mill and this is because they are running performers through their mill and do not truly care about the end result of the work or how it affects the performer, who is paying top $$ to add to their portfolio pre-produced. Because he was rushing so much every time we spoke, it appears he forgot to write down the shoot date I had reserved.

Ive worked with JIG Reel Studios on several occasions to obtain footage for my reel and Ive yielded great results everytime. The writers are superb at customizing scenes that specifically fit what you need and regardless of where you are in your acting career, their team of professionals bring out and capture the best of your abilities on camera. I highly recommend working with them as they always deliver the biggest bang for your buck.

This is the best company that I have ever done business with Justin is literally the best every time I call him he’s so friendly and so eager to help I went there for my demo reel and it was the best decision I could’ve ever made thank you so much guys you guys are the best.

Not very professional at all, there seems to be a language barrier with Justin the owner. He was not clear how to translate English so that it was comprehensible. There was a lot of back and forth to get things completed and corrected. Communication about the filming area, availability of space for changing was reviewed at the last minute and changed on filming day, because the script that he employed someone to write didnt make sense. He discovered this at the last minute, and the script had to reworded moment before filming. The final product was not good and the director had to be told about the corrections to make with the editing & characters names. The film credit was not posted as promised in a timely fashion and was also not posted correctly. It was a complete waste of money and horrible experience. I would not use them or refer them to anyone.He tried to say I was racist on Yelp, because I addressed his comprehension problem. That was not the case, I have to reason to mean. He also said he is the one that does all of the editing as well as being the Owner, that means ALL the blames goes to him.This was a SAG short that was to be noted on IMDB, he told me it wasnt a movie. We discussed all the details prior to filming.His rebuttal only validates his lack of attention and professionalism, because he didnt understand anything we discussed.Dont waste your money or time!!!!

I worked with JIG at the end of December and in the one month since, I have booked two jobs for Netflix- one of them solely off my reel. Not only was the crew absolutely wonderful to work with; but my director, Matias Ponce, was so helpful. Everything was very professional and I was so happy with the content I received back from them. My two scenes were added to my IMDb page and they came back very quickly.

Be AWARE!! False advertisement. They do not give you the IMDB credits as they say. Often under the wrong name or missing credits. The men are young and inexperienced. Not a legitimate business. Don’t waste thousands of dollars on a reel. These guys are ripping people off and taking advantage of people! No refunds. Fake good reviews.
