I got a first good impression of what a job was like at Managed Career Solutions. I wont make the mistake again of taking one lightly. I want to thank Ms. Rogokos, Sequoia and the other woman for allowing me to work with them. I enjoyed the environment their and everyday I bought coffee before showing up to work. At that job I felt like I played my role in life: being a successful, dutiful man.

Im a small business owner. I tried to work with MCS as part of a government initiative that provided interns for tech companies. I felt pretty yanked around. The organizer said our proposed use of interns was fine, at first, then changed her mind after I put in 15-20 hours or so into applying, interviewing candidates, orientating and training them. For a small business thats a tough loss of hours. My experience was they arent sensitive to the needs to businesses where they place people and kind of expect you to meet their expectations, like you work for them, instead of trying to meet your needs as an employer.

You provide them with your social security card and ID and they ask you to take classes online.

I was actually hired to assist participants in the job program until I caught the Hispanic manager named Blanca refusing to pay me on time. I reported her to HR. One time I was receiving a phone interview in English and there was loud Mexican music playing in the background. I don’t understand why they are hiring Hispanics in Koreatown who can’t follow the rules.

I was initially excited about being assigned to MCS--hoped they would have some connections to real jobs. They dont. They look on CareerBuilder, Monster, Craigslist. EDD, gov dot coms, etc just like everyone else out there looking for jobs. The first ridiculous week class is run by a facilitator is nothing but a young student who got her job by completing the 3 week workshop herself. She spoke mostly about herself and her daughter. The 2nd & 3rd week consisted of making a list of 8 prospective employers, calling them, asking if they are hiring and filling out a form listing who you spoke with, the address and ph #, how to apply and how you will follow up--outdated and useless. All this was tolerable because all I did at home was search the internet and apply. What was not acceptable was the staffs unprofessional attitude and treatment of the unfortunates who are looking for jobs and dependent on the measly 200 GR bucks from DPSS. I witnessed gossip between the staff everyday and one day there were only two of them in the office because of an off-site job fair the other three junior staffers had to attend. The names of the two who stayed behind are Christina (the site manager) and Sequoia (a job facilitator). For the hour and a half I was there they talked about clients, their hairstyles (one of which said her hairstyle had been stolen by another staffer), their shoes and bunions and watched videos on their phones and company computers. Then, they talked about their eye lashes and some raspberry and almond skin lotion from Sweden and then about their ethnicity. Finally at 9:35 (I checked my watch) they went to their separate computers and went about whatever it is they do when they arent talking about clients, but! Now they each had their music playing loud enough for us to hear. Sequoia gave us the added benefit of singing along. Can I have their job?
