I have been here a few times. The place is nice and clean and cuts are good but there is always a over booking issue. This last time, I called and made an appointment ahead to get a quick short mens cut. On the way there I noticed I might be running 5 mins late. I called them to let them know I am literally parking. They then told me my spot was already taken and they are completely booked for the night. I’ve worked in restaurants an multiple customer service jobs, most professionals leave a “grace period” especially when you are located in the midst of LA traffic with no parking provided. But I get it, its their policy. Just off putting.
Ask for Nathan, best barber in the game. Been coming here for over a decade. Great spot!
First time at Rudys and I have to say I was completely satisfied. As a walk in, I only waited for 2 minutes and was helped by a lovely lady (Ruby) she gave me the best short cut ever.To top it off, I only had 20 minutes in the parking meter. By the time I was back in my car, i still had 1 minute left.So all it took was a 19 minute visit.Im definitely coming back, friendly staff and a lovely little dog!
Have been going there since I moved here and have not once regretted my cut from any of the barbers there! Amazing group of people, and great atmosphere!
Fun quick hair cut spot with great hair stylists. Definitely wish we had one of these on the east coast. Would have gone for five but felt my beard trimming couldve been more detailed. I cant fault the stylist as I think its just the expectation for that service. No straight razor work.
A top class barbershop. I just got the best haircut and beard trim ever! Five stars!
My favorite hair cut place. No frills, fast, friendly, good stylists (they vary a bit in style and skill). Easy parking on meters right in front or side streets, and an adidas store to peruse next door while you wait.
Thank God for Rudy’s, the only place that didn’t screw up my boyfriends hair. He had so much enthusiasm as to how he was happy with how they made him look that I got convinced to go there myself and check it out. The hipster / rockabilly atmosphere is not intimidating at all. Rather the stylist helped me reach into my edgy side and bring out a new style I had no idea was in me. The friendly staff makes me feel right at home and cared for every time I am there, dont let the tattoos fool you, these folks know how to make you look good!
Price is competitive based on the location, but the service was just a disappointment - with poor attention to details (I got an uneven “skin fade”) and disengaged work attitudes (they focus more on the conversation with you than the actual work). I tried this place three times but none of them were satisfying.
Good people. Hip Hollywood, Low Key, LGBT friendly. Reasonable prices.
Solid. Fair prices and skilled staff. Good with my 11yo son as well.
Great place to get your hair cut! I got mine done by carlos; he helped clean my hair up while Im transitioning to long hair. Had a great conversation, it was clean, had a great selection of products, and would recommend getting your haircut here.
I dont know whats up with the other sourpusses that left bad reviews for this barbershop. Ive had nothing but excellent service. Ash and Faye are awesome and theres this very soft spoken Asian gentleman that gave me the best haircut ever. EVER. I wish I caught his name... They all really take their time and treat you like a person. I love them! Totally rad place.
Great location just can get a little busy
Got a great hair cut, really enjoyed the service. My first visit and definitely not the last.
Awesome in every way. Always trust these folks-- you get what you pay for, so I dont mind at all paying a few extra bucks for a great haircut. In fact, I feel like Im getting a great deal.
Great place- had my hair cut there by a few different barbers. Each time, I think I have anew favorite! Well run, and a great hair cut for the money.
Worst customer service of a barber shop Ive ever seen. I attempted to get my hair cut tonight, but was informed that they were closing in 15min. I looked around and their hair stylist was straightening her own hair and not assisting any customers. I told them that I had a huge meeting the following day and just needed a clean up. They still refused service. I wont be returning to this barber shop in the future!
Been coming here for over 5 years now & always have a great experience. The staff is awesome & friendly. Haircuts are reasonably priced and the barbers are experienced. I dont understand the negative reviews about not taking reservations ahead of time. All you need to do is call ahead to be put on the list an hour or so beforehand. Go to an overpriced salon if you need to make an appointment so badly. Parking can be tough here on Melrose but there is metered parking & spots in the back lot.
Ive had two experiences here both on Sundays when Shortys was already closed so I was desperate. The first time I needed just my neck cleaned up and a bit off the sides and nothing off the top. I was in the chair maybe 7-8 minutes with clippers only, and they charged me $37. When I asked why it was so much, the guy at the counter was a total jerk. Then, this past Sunday, I walked in at 6:30pm (7pm was closing time) and asked if they could take me, and the guy sort of mumbled someone else was waiting, and we could see if one of the (3) stylists working would have time. The two of us sat there until 7:10pm when the guy then announces, sorry, no cuts today. I would think that at some point before 7:10pm he would have realized they didnt have time for us rather than letting us sit there for 40 minutes. When I suggested he should have let us know earlier, they couldnt take us he raised his voice and again, was a total jerk about it. I will NEVER ever go near this place again. Just about the worst customer service Ive ever experienced in Los Angeles.
Best haircuts in LA easy simple and fast!
Kaylas great of youre looking for a stylist.
Ive been going to Rudys for roughly 17 years. Ive had 2 barbers in that time. Its a great place and I get great.cuts, but its more about the reliability of service from my individual barbers.
Vera is amazing. I travel 9 months out of every year and shes my hair saver. Stylists all over can never get it right but she never disappoints.
Terrible appoinment management. Even if you have an appoinment they will send you home cause they are overbooked. They basically want to try and get as many appointments as possible so they can make as much money as they can. But hey if it gets too stressful for them, they will send you home. The clients time is nothing for them. You wont even get a proper appology as they are too busy trying to squeeze everybody and make a quick buck. Really guys, dont go there. There are places in LA muuuuch better organised and with much nicer stuff.
Crummy haircuts. One guy tried to cheat me by asking $49 for a $29 haircut. When questioned, he said the prices had been raised and then backed down. It can be quick but the service is erratic at best.
They care too much about their comfort and too little about the clients comfort.
Been going here for years. I love this place. Cool staff
Steer clear of this place. Girl doing my hair did a terrible job and barley cut my hair. Got a second haircut a couple days later at Supercuts. The haircut was perfect and half the price.
This dude ruined my labor day weekend with an.unprofessional cheap style. i never regret in my life this much leaving the place upset and mad. dammm uuuuuuu
Always find someone I can trust at Rudys
Always fast, easy and reliable. Good haircuts, good music.
Rudys new Make an appointment system blows. Made an appointment, showed up (full disclosure: 7 mins late) and they had me wait like I always do. Two dudes on the bench got cut before me. Well actually, when the 2nd guy got serviced before I did, I walked out.Im fine with a system that is first come first served, but forced to make an appointment and then its first come first served is crap. If I make an appointment I expect to be served in the allotted time for which I made the appointment. Im even flexible so that if a hair cut take 30 mins and Im 10 mins late, I only have 20 mins to get cut. Rudys has to pick one or the other. Make an appointment and wait like first come first served is BS!Rudys lost me FOREVER - Floyds is right down the street. I had been going to Rudys since they started in the Standard on Sunset.t
Just lost me as a customer. When did you decide to make up new rules about buzz cuts? I’ve been coming there forever. What a disappointment.
Darla did such a great cut!
Great staff, nice people who are happy and honest.
So this place is called a barber shop but when I went to line up my beard they said they couldn’t do rhat there is no barber for that yet it’s called a barber shop it’s more styling
Good cheap hipster hair cuts.

Only place I will get my hair cut in LA
I really dont understand why you cant make an appointment. Who is sitting around all day to call an hour before they want to come in to be put on a wait list?
Friendly, usually fast, good haircuts.
