0 stars. Place is a nightmare. They require multiple photo IDs (why? Why does no other car rental agency ask for this? Why is my drivers license insufficient for driving a car?), they try to scare you into getting the supplementary car insurance and have an awful attitude if you push back. This place is a dump.

Arrived to pickup car I had reserved. Stood at the window with an agent right in front of me. No greeting of any kind. Didn’t even look up to acknowledge me. After 5 minutes of being ignored, I asked if he was going to be able to help me. He told me to come back in 15 minutes. No explanation, no apology, nothing. He clearly could not have cared less about customer service.

Company policies regarding deposit amount required were higher than disclosed on their website. Not being able to use a debit card at this location was impossible to know from the web. I only found I couldnt use a debit card when I tried to pick up the car. I will not use Budget again in the future.

Very Disappointed with this location. The hours are limited as they are located inside a hotel. I was aware that when returning the vehicle there may not be anyone there, but what they need upon return was not clearly stated when I rented the vehicle at LAX(also a bad experience). It was very difficult to find where to park the vehicle. you go down three levels of the garage and maybe only see one sign on each level. It was very difficult to find. I was ready to return the Keys, however I apparently kept the wrong documents with me and they required another document that was given to me. Because it was at a different hotel, I had to get that paperwork before returning the key and I called the 800 number to ensure that I will not be penalized for returning the key a little later. They said that was fine, upon returning back to the Budget stand when they were open, there was a Back in 15 minutes sign. AFTER 30 MINUTES OF WAITING for the attendant to come back from his 15 minute break I had to leave to catch my ride for my cruise. When I arrived back from my cruise, I found out I got a $150 for a late charge. Budget is unorganized and I did not get decent customer service. If at all possible, I will make sure I will never have to rent thru them again!

It was terrible.My mother payed weeks before on a prepaid card, and with no problem they took the money.We traveled from Colorado and went to the place to get the car. The rude lady at the desk declined anything we had and said they dont take prepaid cards. She refused to help us with anything. Online there was no problem with them taking our money,called the company and they told us theyd refund us in 3-5 business days, we told them we needed it now because were stranded with no way to get anywhere.We asked them why they would take the money if they dont take prepaid cards and they didnt have any answer for their irresponsible company,they even kept most of our deposit. There was another family there that was stranded too with children because of the same problem and the company does not care!!! If I could I would give 0 stars

They randomly overcharged me. Be sure to check your receipt after returning the vehicle. One simple example is a $15.99 charge for gas even though I filled up 3 miles down the road before returning the vehicle. Very shady place.

The service was horrible the lady at the desk looked annoyed that she had to do her job. Its very inconvenient to return the vehicle and they over charge. When asked for an explanation she said the manager has to follow up which he never did. I usually have a great experience with budget but this was the worst. I usually give 5 stars for most but this will be my first 1 star. Not the company its the people.

A friend and I booked a rental on July 17th, for a July 21st pickup. When my friend got to the pickup location, she was told our reservation had been cancelled and she was being given a refund. (She prepaid online 4 days prior). I went to the location 2 hours later to find out what happened. I called customer service and was told I needed to make a new reservation, and the rate would be different if they actually had vehicles to rent. I didnt understand how the reservation could be cancelled, and budget not see anything wrong with this happening to us. I got transferred to a supervisor to explain what happened, and was rudely cut off and transfered someone else. I explain everything again, and the lady told me to make a new reservation, and a case number that would be used to honor the online price we paid the first time. I was to call back when we finished to get the difference in price refunded. I did call back, but customer service was closed so they told me to call the next day Saturday at 8am.I did this, and was told I need to call the day I return the rental. Everyone obviously isnt on the same page with their customer service, as far as the policy and the rules go. The pick up was on 7/21, a Friday. I was told by the customer service my refund would be returned in increments in the next 3-5 days. I found this to be strange because I didnt pay a prepaid amount in increments, why would a refund(that I never asked for) be given back in this manner.On Monday 7/24, I received $58.49 of my $208.49 prepaid amount.I returned the new reservation rental on Wednesday 7/26. The new rental was $289.58 which was a $81.09 difference from the first reservation. I called customer service after returning the car, and was told I had to wait 48 hours to receive the credit.I called the same day to find out what happened with my refund and was told I need to wait another 48 hours to receive the $150.00.I also called again Monday 7/31 because I never received anything. I was told that the refund was never sent over to the refund department, and I need to wait another 3-5 days to get the rest.The man told me my rental was $289.58 because I chose to get insurance for $85.00. I explained to him that I did not get the insurance, so I wasnt sure where he was getting that information. Eventually I had to talk to a supervisor to get this resolved. He also told me I had the insurance. I explained to him that I never signed anything for insurance, and if I did, to please show me proof of scanned copy of my signature signed proving it. He placed me on hold, and came back with no results of that. He did tell me my case was never sent to the refund department, and hed refund the $85.00. He also sent me an email reflecting the amount I would be charged.Now here it is 8/03, and I did get the $85.00 back.I called 8/03 and the guy from customer service told me that I definitely should have receive a full refund by now. He said all he could do is escalate the issue for it to be looked into. It would take 5-7 days more at least on top of the 13 days that had already passed. (Thats 13 days since my reservation was cancelled.)Ive never seen such terrible customer service with so many shenanigans for someone just trying to get a rental. The experience I had has definitely left a bad impression, which has made me come to the conclusion that I will never rent from Budget again.

Made a reservation for a mid size car at 2:00 p.m. for the same day. Received cofirmation number. Arrived at 5:30 p.m. and was told they only had vans available. My wife does not drive vans. So we left without a car. They get one star because they offered to give me the van at the mid size price, and the price was half of what other major companies charge.

There are bad companies and there are downright shady companies - Budget Rental at the Long Beach Airport, California office is the latter. I started with a $125 reservation for two and half days, which sounds perfectly reasonable, right? Then somewhere in the digital fine print, a small deposit that was never refunded and sweet talk of its only an estimate, I was conned over an extra $100 for the same two and half day resevation! Unbelievable! When I called customer service to break down the charges, the guy on the other end was a monotone robot that kept saying, with all due respect, these are legitimate charges over and over again because he probably gets the same pissed off, ripped off customers calling all day and reads from a script.This company is right up there with the worst of the worst when it comes to Better Bureau businesses. They con people and rip them off for a few extra bucks and care nothing about customer service and repeat business since they got their money from some schmuck (me) who decided to give them their business. You got me this time, Budget, but it was once and only once. I will NEVER rent from them again!

This is ridiculous, I’ve been waiting for 20 minutes. Still no one is here. My reservation was for 8am. It’s 8:58am. They are understaffed and now I’m late to my medical appointment.

Horrible location to pick up a car. Had a pre-paid reservation. Did not accept my credit card. So I put another one and was told it would not be charged. When car was dropped off and after I received statement of credit cards both charged and one with late. Credit card took care of this, but took a couple of month. Don’t rent here and work with AVIS instead

Desk not staffed regularly, despite a reservation had to wait for an attendant. When he finally came, the full-sized car I reserved was not available, so I was offered either a smaller car, or to pay more for a slightly larger one. Seems like classic bait and switch.
