This teacher is the best in town! At first my daughter was so shy but she eventually opened up cause the teacher kept encouraging her to come and participate. My daughter is only 3 years old and i got a Groupon for a great deal for 2 classes a week for a half hour for 1 month which came with a VERY NICE uniform! We love it here!
I had my Daughter attend their summer camp last year and it was excellent. The owner Dave is very great at running his programs and has been a staple in the Lodi Community over the years. I would still be going to his school but my daughter wasn’t a fan of martial arts. I do hope my son takes a liking so that I can use Legacy Tae Kwon Do again in the near future!
My son takes taekwondo lessons in this section, we really like it here. Special children can also study here. I recommend this place.
Love this place dearly i grew up with the best masters i could ever imagine and i highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to do tkd!!! :)
Hola I used to go here! but the instructors where mean to me I will give one star because I used to hug one of the instructors she was really nice (btw I got in trouble for HUGGING)
My child thinks this summer camp is so much fun and he never wants to leave thanks David so much. All he used to do was watch TV and now he wants to do taekwondo. Im happy that he has so much fun he says its the best summer camp hes ever went too. 🏆🏅😄
My three kids ages 8-10 go here for summer camp. I am impressed with camp owners’ creativity when it comes to keeping kids busy, positive atmosphere, multiple activities and games throughout the day. Kids soak up all the fun they are having, daily Taekwondo, arts and crafts, multiple opportunities to be physically active. Each week has a unique theme. This year I am really happy with safety protocols implemented due to COVID. Second year at Legacy and looking forward to the next.
David and the staff at Legacy TKD are amazing. Very professional. Very clean. They do a great summer camp, too!
I consider myself a lucky parent when 9 years ago, Legacy Tae Kwon Do was recommended to me by a friend. Legacy Tae Kwon Do provides children the ability to feel incorporated in a family-friendly environment. Legacy Tae Kwon Do is extremely structured which allows the enforcement of discipline and cooperation among peers. Learning self-defense techniques and how to acquire higher level belts, rewards the child with increased confidence. Now both of my sons, who have been enrolled, obtain high level belts and have fought competitively. I would highly recommend Legacy Tae Kwon Do to any parent who wishes for their child an increased level of confidence, discipline, and most importantly, their enjoyment.
I attended this school for many years and it’s a great place for your kids to grow. Not only do your kids learn discipline, respect for others/elders, and self accomplishment but you become a family. I love this place and the positive role models and friends I have met through the years. It has taught me so much in my life and shaped me to be the adult I am today. David and Ami are great instructors who deeply care about all of there students.
They have a summer camp and my child loves it!
Legacy Tae Kwon Do is more than just a Martial Arts school. They teach discipline, respect, morals and of course Tae Kwon Do. Masters Ami and David truly care about each and every one of their students and take the time to check in with each of them individually. Their love of the sport is apparent and shines through. The whole staff has been nothing but professional and accommodating. I cannot recommend this school highly enough. You just need to go in and check it out for yourself. You won’t be sorry.
I learned to never give up and to work hard! Ive made a lot of new friends.
I actually used to go here when I was around 9 or 8 years old. I stopped going because I lost interest in doing TaeKwonDo & I dont if David and Ami remember me, but im Luis Ndocaj, I think you guys disliked me heavily, lol. You guys were great at teaching TaeKwonDo to me and my sister & taught me a lot of discipline (: 10/10 would recommend this place.
When I walked inside Legacy Tae Kwon Do, my first question to Master Ami was whether we start as a black or white belt. Fast-forward 9 years later, and I have obtained a black belt, perform in local demos, compete in local tournaments, and volunteer at Lodis Best Summer Camp. Legacy Tae Kwon Do is more than just a martial arts school. It produces a suitable environment for developing close relationships among peers and our masters, teaches us discipline, and most importantly, allows us to share a passion that we all have, and continue to build upon. And that passion is Tae Kwon Do. Thank You, Master Ami and Master David.
Legacy - Tae Kwon Do...what can I say?...I think it’s an awesome place...my 5 year old loves it...he looks forward to going there all the time...I tell ya, it’s 3x’s better then the neighborhood boys and girls club...I just love the fact that LEGACY STAFF is always on point when it comes to the safety of the children...where with the boys and girls club, I will actually see these teenage counselors be more aware of there phone then the actual children...i could just imagine all the different personalities LEGACY has to deal with...I respect them a great deal for blessing us dedicated parents with this recreational summer program...again, staff is just awesome!...the kids are always kept busy and staff is very attentive...Dave and Ami are great people and they care enough to try and get everyone to participate in there everyday activities...keep up the excellent work...thank you LEGACY...you guys are the best!
I started going to Legacy when I was 3 and attended all the way till high school, and I can definitely say that some of my best memories are from there. Ami and David took care of me like I was family, and Ive considered them as such for as long as I could remember.Even now that Im in college, I can say thatso much of my personal growth can be accounted to my times at Legacy. Ive learned so much from going there; I grew as a person and became stronger and more confident in who I was.Tae Kwon Do is a great activity, something quite unique, and Legacy is a place where youll make so many new friends and have so many great experiences. This includes the many opportunities to compete at local, state, and national levels. Under Legacy, Ive been to a countless number of tournaments, including qualifying for the Junior Olympics twice.Legacy Tae Kwon Do is the place to go for anyone looking for a new experience, a fun source of exercise, and some great times. Youll become part of the family from day one and wont look back!
Suddenly my kids want to clean their room!?! Who knew a martial art could get them to do that. The Masters at Legacy are the most knowledgeable around...and trust me, I checked many schools. They dont use an internet bought curriculum like a few schools Ive seen. They take the time to get to know each child and that seems to make a difference
I signed up my daughter for, what is advertised as, Lodis best summer Camp. I was under the impression that being a Tae Kwon Do studio, it was primarily going to be Tae Kwon Do along with dance, sports, and arts and crafts. Within the first 2 days, I was told that my daughter was not listening and that THIS WAS HER FIRST STRIKE. Now I understand that shes 6 and not perfect but isnt Tae Kwon Do supposed to teach discipline? Needless to say, the owner told me that after day 2 he instructed all of the counselors to keep an eye on my daughter daily to the point where my daughter was singled out and was forced to hold counselors hands instead of her peers which made her feel singled out. This poor kid, at 6 years old, came home crying every day and was eventually asked not to come back after only 7 full days there. I was happy to take her out because it was loud, extremely overcrowded, and both myself and my daughter felt that she was being singled out and she was not being taught what was expected at this camp. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Even upon exiting, I was not given, what I felt, was a proper refund, and the owner wrote the wrong amount on the check (the written words did not match the numbers) so the bank said they had honor the written word when cashing the check, shorting me even more money. This experience was such a disappointment for both my daughter and I. She had been looking forward to learning Tae Kwon Do and dance. Dont waste your money on an overcrowded, extremely loud, unprofessional place with shady business practices.
My boys ages 12 and 5 have attended Legacy as students since February 2018 and attend the summer camp program this year as well. Before I give my review I want to share that as a parent with an older child who struggles with anxiety and who was the victim of bullying and harrassment, my husband and I are extremely cautious about the types of programs we sign him up for. It is one of the reasons we decided to sacrifice and work alternate schedules because we were untrusting of most places even for our 5 year old.Having had very negative experiences in the past with other programs where my oldest son was either harassed or ignored, I can wholeheartedly say that I have no concerns or worries about my sons treatment or safety when he is at Legacy. He finally has a place where he feels like he belongs and is accepted and embraced! Ive witnessed the confidence of both my boys increase ten fold and I love how the respect that is enforced at Legacy spills over to their every day life (love when they yes maam me). I am overwhelmed with pride and am in awe every time I watch how dedicated they are to practicing Tae Kwon Do during their regular classes. They both look forward to going to camp every single day and are so happy! What more could I ask for? It is all thanks to Dave and Ami and their dedication to the kids. Anyone in doubt should stop by on a Saturday morning and watch a pee wee class and I guarantee it will make you smile!
Had an awesome time attending Legacy Tae Kwon Do. Learned a lot about TKD, while being in a comfortable environment around fellow students and friends.
Cant say enough about this great school, teachers are fantastic. Huge space for the kids to training, big waiting room to watch class. Very happy
This is a wonderful school teaching the art of Taekwondo. We signed our daughter up there last year and she absolutely loves it! I can’t emphasize enough how GREAT Master Amy is! She is one of the nicest people you will ever meet, a great taekwondo teacher and no matter how many children are in her class she takes the time everyday to speak with each and everyone of them not just to instruct/teach but as someone who truly cares about her students. She always makes time to speak to all the parents and let’s us know how are child is doing. This is truly a gem and it’s made possible by Master Amy and Master Dave. If you are looking for a martial arts school that takes the time to care for child, show them the art and discipline of taekwondo and provide a family atmosphere, look no further than Legacy. Thank you Amy and Dave!!!!!
Since Google doesnt allow my wife to respond to the owner’s reply, I felt we needed to elaborate. First, we take offense to the owner stating that her review is inaccurate. Our daughter does not ever use profanity, nor were we ever notified that she had done so while under the care and supervision of Legacy Tae Kwon Do. We were, however, told that our daughter had repeated something another child had said – specifically a boy who has been known to say inappropriate things, but what was said was, while inappropriate, far from profane. Second, our child is not a bully. She has been enrolled in other after-school and camp-type programs and has never been labeled as such. In this situation, David Hyde (the owner) admitted to us that he had told his counselors to watch our child from as early as the 2nd day of camp. This initially and unfairly singled out our child, which upset her greatly. Here is another example of our child being singled out and treated differently: our daughter is nearly 7 years old and was included in the 5-6-year-old children’s group. The excuse that she was made to hold a counselor’s hand due to her being “younger” does not hold much ground. At nearly 7 years old, our daughter should have been able to hold the hand of a camp-mate rather than being treated as if she were far younger and immature. While we appreciate Legacy Tae Kwon Do being gracious enough to return the fees for the portion of summer camp that our daughter did not attend, it was the absolute least they could do. We enrolled our child in this camp so that she could continue to build upon the structure and guidance she receives at home and in school. Our child has never had behavioral problems and the owner of this facility asking her not to return speaks to their inefficiencies more than it does to our young daughter’s behavior. We also need to address the owner’s statement that he had difficulty concentrating on writing our refund check because my wife was “confronting staff members”. Once again, Legacy Tae Kwon Do would rather place the blame on someone else rather than taking responsibility for their actions. What occurred, was that while she was waiting to speak with the owner (for over 10 minutes with our 9-month-old daughter in tow), my wife asked a staff member if she had perceived any problems with our child. The staff member responded that no, she did not see any problems with our child, that our child was very sweet, and then quickly let my wife know that she had been asked not to converse with her. When my wife was finally greeted by the owner, she was asked if she would like to talk to any of the counselors. She responded that she would just like to be done with this and leave as it was extremely noisy (too loud for our baby’s ears), overcrowded, and with no privacy so that she was unable to speak with anyone in confidence. Other than her brief conversation with a staff member prior to his arrival, she spoke to no one other than David Hyde (the owner). We understand Mr. Hyde wanting to promote his business but are also confident that those reading the reviews can clearly see that several of the reviews were created by relatives of Mr. Hyde. The other reviews are comprised of an accidental review from someone meaning to review a facility in Morristown and outdated reviews (most with no substance, simply a star rating). Our reviews are the only reviews this year. As staff turnaround is common in facilities such as this one, current reviews are the hallmark of a reputable business with proven business practices and satisfied customers. In closing, we feel that the owner is a black belt who singled out and bullied our child and then had his family review his business since actual, verifiable reviews of substance were lacking. We are disgusted and hurt that someone who claims to be a professional in the business of guiding and enriching the lives of children would act in such an unprofessional manner, and to the detriment of our child’s self-esteem because she felt picked on by the adults.
I am so happy that Dave and Amy are watching my 2 nephews. They have learned an extra measure of of responsibility and respect . their school has been a wonderful part of the Lodi community for years. The kids LOVE the program . What a blessing for Xavier and Amitrius.
Chos Legacy is becoming such an institution in Morristown. Every week my daughter is getting better and better at her form. Master Akil is a great instructor and willing to take the time to mentor his students to be the best they can be. My daughter is so excited to move up to her brown belt!! Cant wait to see what the future holds with this awesome Tae Kwon Do experience.S. Bankston
My son goes to Lodi’s Best summer camp nj and he is very very happy there. He does not want to leave from the camp. He is enjoying a lot. He learned a lot of things from there. I know Master Amy and Master David since my son 3,5 years old. I trusts them a lot. They re part of family. I am so happy that my decision was so right when I was looking for summer camp for my son. Legacy Tae Kwon Do is best summer Camp in Lodi, Nj. Thank you Master Amy and Master David. Excellent place for our kids!
Not just for kids!!! Dave I’m so grateful thank you for helping me not let RA beat me!
I practiced at Legacy Taekwondo from 2004 to 2012. During that time, Amy and Dave became like second parents to me and welcomed me into their large taekwondo family. They are some of the nicest people that I know and it shows in their teaching. They had a very positive influence on my life growing up.Legacy Taekwondo offers classes for all ages. It teaches young children good values and discipline alongside the martial arts. It also gives them a place to make great friends. For teenagers and adults, its a great place to get exercise and stay or get in shape while learning valuable self-defense skills. They also have good World Taekwondo style sparring with regular showings at the Junior Olympics and other regional tournaments. Master Ami has competed on a world level and can share valuable experience. My sister and I qualified for the Junior Olympics under their leadership.I highly recommend Legacy Taekwondo for anyone who is considering learning a martial art. They provide a great mix of a traditional martial art experience, embracing the history and cultural roots of taekwondo, and a modern practical self-defense element. They teach discipline and act as a big family. If this is something you are looking for in a martial arts school, Legacy Taekwondo is the place to go.
After being a student at legacy tae kwon do for more that 8 years, its easy for me to say that this has been one of the best experiences I’ve had. Ami and Dave are wonderful! I started taking classes here with my brother thinking about trying tae kwon do, and we’ve loved it ever since! Ami and Dave taught us not only how to defend ourselves, but how to be kind and respectful and we’ve met so many new friends and teammates here. I’m so lucky to have found this place and be a part of the legacy tae kwon do family! I highly recommend legacy tae kwon do for anyone who wants to bring their child to learn self defense and discipline while making new friends or any adult or teen who wants to exercise and learn self defense.
