We have been customers for the past three years. I have yet to find a better mechanic in Livingston or Bozeman. I had Destri put new Interstate batteries in both of my cars. A year later one of them stopped holding a charge. He just swapped it out. Didnt ask questions, didnt run a bunch of tests. Made it really easy. They have always provided detailed quotes that are usually half of or less than dealerships and other shops and come in on price or lower. If they find another issue, they call and give an update and a quote. Sometimes they just fix little issues at no charge. Really honest and efficient folks. Always on time with the repairs. Its a family run business and they are always friendly. I am happy they are here in town!

Terrible customer service, brought my car in for the third time after purchasing it two months ago. Quoted me for 1,300 to replace shocks and control arm. I was told by them that “it was fine to drive for years”. You can hear noise on every bump in the road coming from the rear and they thought that was fine.

I was visiting my daughter in Montana last summer (Im from Minnesota). I needed an oil change and I told them I was traveling and they looked over the rest of my car while I was there. I ended up needing immediate repairs on my brakes; which I knew werent great. They got the parts in and my car for repairs the next day even though I could tell they were very busy both days. They also checked the car and found missing lug nuts and some very low fluids. Great place! I am so thankful for them taking care of me, because I took off on a 2000 mile road trip last second.Great shop! Reasonable prices. Thank you!!

They are awesome. They found a problem that other places didnt even tried to find but didnt. The only problem is that no one answers the phone in the afternoon.

This was an amazing service here! We had sudden car trouble and needed the car fixed quickly. We met the owner at 8 and by 12 the car was fixed and we were on our way. The staff was beyond helpful and called us with updates, understood my concerns about the need for safety and speed so we could make other necessary travel arrangements. Let me start off by saying I was driving my 2017 ram west I 90 when my my front wheel bearing went out while I am a transporter and had a load on my truck was scared I was gonna loose my wheel and wreck . So I looked up local mechanic shops near me and american automotive was first with best reviews . They are friendly and jumped rite on my truck with very reasonable rate . I was back on my way next day . I highly recommend them for all your automotive needs tha k you so much

These guys are absolutely wonderful! Our Ford van started making loud popping noises, and we could smell burning, so we thought wed be stranded in Livingston for quite some time. Called American Automotive, and they were able to fit us in right away in the morning, since they knew we were from out of town and needing to get back on the road asap. Destri quickly located the problem and was very upfront about his recommendations. Reasonable pricing. Got all the parts ordered and installed by that afternoon, and Helena even picked us up from our hotel and gave us a ride back to the shop once our van was ready. They really go out of their way to take care of their customers! Could not be more grateful to have met them!
