Comfortable and friendly. There was very little wait time.
Shop owner was going to be a few late for my apt. Called me to let me know and he had someone who was going to be there to take care of me. Waited about 2 minutes and while I was waiting was offered an espresso which of course I took (who passes up espresso at 9am). Anthony cut my hair and did an awesome job and we spent the hour he cut my hair talking about life and had a great conversation. This was my first time visiting but I certainly found my new barber. Also spread the word to my friends in the area
We love this place!Mike is not only skilled, but also absolutely amazing with my 8 year old son in general. To say that my son likes to talk is a massive understatement - he and Mike have wonderful (and often unintentionally hilarious) conversations while he gets his cut. Mike is attentive, careful, and friendly. We haven’t visited in a while due to quarantine, but look forward to going back.
Mike is great! Pays attention to what you ask for. Great with my 4 & 6 year old boys. Never disappoints!
Joe gave me a great cut. Nice shop, easy to get to. Park in front. Booking online is way better than sitting and waiting.
My son is a customer for years. Skilled barbers who spend time on each client to ensure a precise cut. They’ve built up such a large client base that they’re by appointment only. They’re professional, friendly; the shop’s always clean and neat with an edgy vibe. I highly recommend them.
I absolutely recommend this Barbershop. Joe has cut my sons hair for over 2 years now and is very professional and takes my sons thoughts into consideration all the time. They also make sure you are comfortable while waiting by offering espresso and good reads as you wait.
Ive gotten my hair cut by a bunch of different guys here, and all of them are fantastic. Best barbershop Ive ever been to
Ive been searching for a place like this on the Island for as long as I can remember. American Gentleman is what Id describe as a modern-classic barbershop. It has that old world feel mixed with contemporary barbering techniques, abilities, and styles that, in my experience, is next to impossible to find on Long Island. The guys at American Gentleman are artists who take pride in their work. Sure, maybe the haircut is expensive for the neighborhood as others have mentioned, but the level of talent and the feel of the shop is also far superior to any barbershop Ive found anywhere on the island. Mike could open up in any city and charge double what he does now and have a line out the door - theyre that good.
I get my haircut by a fella named Joe and I could not be more pleased at the results. Everybody says hello when you walk in. The owner shakes my hand. Most importantly, the hair cut is on point. You can tell they are not just cutting hair. Its an art form. The time and care they take on their client is apparent in their work.I was going to another barber since I moved to lindenhurst but I stopped going there after the 3rd time they missed entire patches of hair. Not the case at American gentleman. The vibe if the place is great. Awesome music and manly decor. My only gripe is that they took card but its no big deal.I recommended this place to all my co-workers and Ill recommend it to you.
Great atmosphere, good music, precision haircuts. They will spend however long it takes to make you happy. You always leave with a great haircut.
At first I was put off by needing an appointment than I used my brain and realized I can make an appt for 9:30 and start getting my hair cut at 9:30. Not having to wait for everybody and their brother ahead of me cause I picked a bad time to go.The place is clean, nice guys and you can book online. Oh to top it off the haircuts are PERFECT! others could learn from AGB!
Mike gives my son the BEST haircuts! I would not bring him anywhere else. We never feel rushed and are always more than happy with every haircut. We are very lucky to have such a great place right here in Lindenhurst. Highly recommend.
This Is Truly A Gentlemans Barber Shop, Espresso while you wait! The layout of the place is great, The owner Mike has serious skill in his craft.Great job with the place! A+
Very friendly and professional, and skilled. I Wouldnt go anywhere else.
Excellent place to get your haircut. Staff is very friendly and were able to help me choose a new cut. Just remembered appointment only.
I don’t do reviews often but when I do, I always do it logically and as fair as I can.So Pros: Really welcoming atmosphere. Clean, and aesthetic. Barbers seem to be pleasant and mannered. During the haircut, there was attention to comfort.Cons: While my experience is not an accurate judge of their overall abilities, the reason why the rating is so low is because the end haircut was absolutely ridiculous. I had asked for a pompadour, something I’ve never done before and have no experience in asking for, as I told him. He asked if I wanted a mid or high fade. I opted for mid while asking if we could change it to high if I’m not happy with it. He said yes we can change it after(not specifying that I would have to make an entirely new appointment). i had fairly long hair at the beginning, with my top parted to the side, already akin to a pompadour. A little over 30 mins later, very little was accomplished and I did not look any different than how I came in. sideburns were skin faded but the sides were left alone. And the top, which he spent probably around 20 mins on. Was barely trimmed(as to ensure the pompadour had size) and was essentially combed and blow dried. With some product. I’m actually surprised he let me leave like that, and thought that it was an acceptable haircut by a professional. However this still admittedly boils down to poor miscommunication. So this is my advice to other newcomers or anyone who may not know, clearly communicate what you want. And if you’re not happy with what you got, if it’s visibly clear your haircut was not up to par to a professional standard, you have the legal right as the customer to negotiate for a fix on the spot, reduced cost, or appeal to refuse payment. You can even take it to a small claims court(which is just dumb but you do have that choice if you want to be petty). Do not make the mistake of shutting up, pretending to smile to be polite, paying $25(plus tip as a courtesy), and walking out. Because that hurts your chances to have anything done about it.If you’re wondering if I ever got it fixed, I went down the street to a barbershop that targets family and kids. First thing she said seeing me was actually“what happened to your hair”. In about 20 mins, she was able to surprisingly do a well done fade, line up, fixed and tidied up the top to a comb over. Now, I truly looked like an American Gentlemen. Notice: I am not saying to not come here. They seem to be good barbers from the photos I’ve seen so I still recommend them at least once. I was just very unlucky. but I’m simply retelling me experience and giving some advice, to be very vocal and communicate with your barber, and to not shut up to be polite if you are extremely dissatisfied
Professionals, excellent cuts and will serve liquid refreshments while. you wait appointents a must. But not required. I suggest Mike an excellent well experienced hair stylist
Second to none. Searched around for a long time to find a good barber until I found this place. Been going there for a bit over a year now and Im never letting anyone else touch my hair again.
Great shop. Great haircut. Great vibe. You can get a crap haircut for $14 elsewhere or a great haircut here for $20. If you need an explanation as to which one you should choose, go somewhere else for $14. I dont want you sitting next to me at American Gentleman.
What an amazing place. i first walked in for my appointment and was instantly greeted. I was offered expresso, and very polite conversation by the owner as i was waiting. i was given a cut by Joe Vaas he was warm, welcoming, precise, and paid very close to attention to my specific wants. he was very sterile, sanitizing his clippers and tools and a master of his craft. I would gladly refer these gentleman to anyone. The name speaks for itself!!! it may sound corny but you are treated like a gentleman. Joe your the man thanks for making my day buddy!!!
Great haircuts! Very impressive decor and the staff is very skilled and professional. I even got an espresso a few times. You gotta go.
Ask for Mike, hes the best, appointment only
I was in the shop on 3/11/16 for the first time. The shop has a great atmosphere and the guys are professional. Joe V. cut my hair and did a nice job. He was patient and made sure the cut was what I wanted.

Great place. Very relaxed and professional.
Excellent shop, staff very professional. Highly recommend !!!
Great haircut great atmosphere and decor. Friendly barbers
Joe is great! Prices are very fair.
They did a great job on the haircut but they are very overpriced for the neighborhood. They charged $20 for a mens haircut and that doesnt include the tip. Most places charge $10-12 for a mens cut around here.
Nice guys relaxing
