I used to do my own taxes and when I ran into problems I would call the IRS for help and advice. That is like calling the prosecutor for advice on your defense. The IRS is not responsible for poor or even wrong advice they give out.Kranenburg and Kranenburg are experts whose advice and services I trust. And I rarely trust anyone.

I had a very peculiar interaction today with the Kranenburg Accounting & Tax Services CPAs. I had a friend recommend this firm to me because of the help they have provided on the tax planning side of things.I spoke on the phone with Rebecca this morning (who was lovely). I am trying to learn more about: (1) services the firm offers; (2) the firms experience with liquidity events; and (3) the type of financial planning they offer. She told me to speak with Bonnie.Someone named Shirley ended up giving me a call back and kept trying to schedule an appointment for me in January to begin my 2018 tax preparation. I told her I am not to that point and that I am trying to learn more about the firm. She told me they only talk to people who are doing tax preparation. I told her that I would likely be a tax preparation client, but I need to learn more.Clearly we were talking past each other. Nonetheless a very frustrating interaction from a firm that was otherwise well recommended to me. Too bad...POST SCRIPT: I appreciate the note from the owner and the effort made to reach out. I have move forward with another firm, but I am appreciative of the effort made to close the loop with me. Again, all data points I had pointed to this being a strong firm. I have updated my score to 3 stars acknowledging that while my experience wasnt very good, I am sure they do a good job.
