Our car broke down suddenly and unexpectedly Monday after noon, our tow truck driver suggested Harris auto to us and we went with the suggestion, we were not displeased. They had us back up and running in less than two days without an appointment. Thank You and God Bless Tom and his crew at Harris Auto courteous, polite, and professional.
Would be a 5 but they forgot to plug my dash lights back in, however they did make up for it by replacing my license plate bulb that was out free of charge and Mr.Harris is a top notch guy!!
Truck repairBest repair shop in Lawrence in my eyes. The own messages you to see if everything is going well the day after or next to make sure everything is going ok. This alone is worth the service but to add to this the price for service beats anyone in town. Every time I call they are eager to help and get you in ASAP. And have the vehicle ready in a timely manner. They don’t try to sell you anything you didn’t ask them to inspect!!! That’s worth a million stars!!!
Would honestly give 0 stars if I could. I called in advance and even told them what was wrong with my car already, they told me it would be the next day or 2, which was fine by me (its a 2 or 3 hour job that I didnt have time for at the moment). Then after two days they proceed to call me and tell me exactly what I told them 2 days prior, and they hadnt even started on it yet. I had my car towed back to my house and fixed it myself in half the time and half the price.
These guys are great, I have been doing business for 20 plus years with them. Fair prices for great quality work, I have sent several people to them for their auto repair needs, they continued to use them long after I lost touch with those individuals. This is a small family owned business they are honest, trustworthy, and always put the customer first. Please Support your local family owned businesses. If you don’t believe me just give them a try you will not be disappointed.
A real life saver, they got us in and changed our alternator same day. Nice, easy, and friendly, I highly recommend.
Not the best experience as of late but the previous repairs were decent enough to keep me coming. No issues with piston misfire repair or belt replacements. Satisfied but 4 out of 5.
No tire shop would remove a screw from our tire and this business said no problem. They told us to come back after lunch and our tire was repaired. Thanks Harris Automotive for coming through when other tire shops wouldnt.
Very quick and professional. Got in and out in less than a day, didnt break the bank. Will be going back.
Awesome service old fashioned service solid shop and mechanics. Definitely coming back.
I absolutely loved this place. Friendly smiling, professional. And they were a wave of happiness after the previous auto shop I had been to was so rude, they made me cry. Bit i loved the staff here and the quick timing/help and overall professionalism! I gave them a 50 dollar tip! Highly reccomend.
Ive been going to Harris Auto for years and have always been happy with the service, but my recent visit was incredibly disappointing. Neither the individual working the front desk (who was coughing) nor the person driving my car wore masks. Both myself and another customer in the waiting room wore our masks to protect them, however the courtesy was never returned and I was there for 2 hours. I dont understand why they would choose to put the lives in our community at risk when it could be avoided with such a small, simple gesture.
Had a great experience at Harris Auto Repair. Got me in quickly and did great work. Would definitely recommend!
I have always depended on Bryan,Tom,and Russfor any and all repairs for over 40 years. They get me in if its an emergency and do excellent work.
I had a break in my oil baffle, which is a metal piece on the valve cover. I knew exactly what the issue was, but I didnt want to replace the part and seal it myself. So I took it to Harris Auto. They tried to charge me $483 for a new valve cover only, not including the maintenance. I found the part online for $55. When I told them about this, they agreed to let me buy the part and then they would put it on. I brought it to them on the day we agreed upon, and the lady at the front desk told me it would be at least 2 hours of work (I could have done it myself in 20 minutes). I asked to speak with the guy who was actually putting it on and he admitted it was going to take 30 minutes at most. Then they charged me $151 for these 30 minutes of labor. I would highly recommend taking your car anywhere else.
I went there to have my back brakes ONLY changed. When I went to check on my car, ALL of my tires were off my car! When I asked why were all my tires taken off, the lady from the front office came rushing toward me, screaming that I was not supposed to be back there! I was shocked, so I left but I was so paranoid as to why all my tires were off so I went back, and agaIn she came rushing toward me, this time pushing me toward the door saying she was gonna call the cops! I told her not to bother that I would, and to put my tires back on and I was going somewhere else. Dont take your car there is all I can say
I came in on the day that this business told me to and at the time they told me to and the receptionist was extremely rude. The mechanic told me a whole week in advance what time to come in and he was not there. The receptionist then went on to say that she will not call the mechanic because there was no point. She even said that she had no idea when he was coming in and that “he’ll get here when he gets here” I will never come here again. Highly recommend going else where.
I needed my waterpump replaced and they were able to get it in and done.
They were very professional and courteous. The price was reasonable. There are some nuances to the vehicle that I brought in that they were aware of, and I am very satisfied with the work that they did.
My car was having issues with overheating so I took it in for a diagnostic that cost me $40. When they looked at it they told me that it was the water pump that was bad and they were going to charge me $800 for the water pump which isnt even $100 part.I took my car to a friend and we did the maintenance ourselves for about $400 altogether and then not even a month later I had The exact same issue start happening again and come to find out it wasn’t even the water pump it was a few other things diagnosed by a different auto repair shop.I think this place is overpriced and doesn’t do good thorough work. if I would’ve paid $800 to replace this part then my problem still wouldn’t never even been fixed.
These men and women are top notch professionals and they do it from a mom and pop shop! Their customer service is phenomenal, they go out of their way to help, and their work is practically flawless. I dont mind saying that theyve made a lifelong customer out of me.
1996 Ford truck. Thorough and fair. Very competent mechanics. I take my truck here for all maintenance.
I can always trust Harris Auto to be upfront and honest with what needs to be fixed or replaced on all of my vehicles. I can tell them what noises it is making and they can understand what I am trying to explain. I never feel like I am being taken advantage of or being overcharges. I really like being able to call and get my vehicle going again. Thanks guys and Robin.
Great group of mechanics and great customer service
Fast, Friendly, more than Fair-job was done on schedule and cost me ~75 less than the quoted price. I do most repairs myself but Ive found my home for whenever things beyond my capabilities.
If I could give negative stars, I sure would! My boyfriend has gone here a few times and hasnt had any problems until this week. He called last week to order a power steering pump for his car and let him know what the make, model, and year his car was. His appointment to get it fixed was on Mon. 6-10 at 11:30. They said itd only take an hour. Perfect. Come 3:00 we still hadnt heard from them so he called. The part was just delivered (even though he ordered it a week ago!) and theyd need another hour. Fine. Come 4:45 still no call from them so he calls for them to say they got backed up and will need it overnight but will get to it first thing in the morning, but it shouldnt be over an hour. He calls the next morning at 9:30 to see if its ready and sure enough its not. We drop in at 11:30 for them to say the wrong part was ordered and it wont be ready until later that afternoon. His car was finally done 47 hours later on Wednesday 6-12 at 10:30 in the morning. They didnt call him to touch base once, they didnt call to say the wrong part was ordered, nor did they call to say that it was going to take a lot longer than expected. They didnt care how much of an inconvenience it was for him being without a vehicle for that long. I try to support small local businesses as much as possible, but definitely not this one!
Harris Auto is one of the most honest and fair auto repair businesses that I have ever experienced.
2nd visit to this shop, I referred a friend here as well before and he was happy. My old 95 Eagle Talon wasnt running right after letting a friend drive it - I thought it may have been a very serious issue. They diagnosed it and turns out it wasnt so bad. Two ignition coils were cracked and shorting to the engine and the valve cover gasket was leaking oil into the spark plug wells and that was causing problems. Also got a tire repaired that had a nail in it and my friend put a temporary plug in it - another place wouldnt do it. They fixed that as well, only costing 28.85.
Awesome Dude! Straight forward, informative. Im going back to check out all the work he will do.
I cant thank these guys enough!!! They took care of me and made sure everything i asked for was done. I highly recommend these hard working people!!!
Good, honest Auto service. My go to for anything needed for my vehicles. I am always looking for the best prices for anything; Harris will always beat the dealerships, but I dont shop around for Auto service any more. If these guys arent the cheapest, I dont care. Theyre close enough, and its worth an extra dollar or two to feel completely confident that the work is done right.
I am very pleased with the recent brake and rotator job done on my car. The ASE mechanics were very helpful, professional, and friendly. They offered some good suggestions. The friendly shop dog also made for a fun visit to their business. It was nice to get a ride to my work after dropping of my car for service. =)Trust your brake service to Harris Auto Repair where they wont try to sell you more than you actually need.
Excellent service. Got a second opinion on brakes & they found an issue the other company had missed. New brake pads, rotors, oil change, alternator belt and the total was cheaper than what the other company tried to charge me for rotors alone. On top of this, the customer service is phenomenal- even offered me a ride home while my car was being repaired. I feel great about this company and recommend them to everyone looking for good service at a fair price. Very happy to have found Harris Auto
Our son’s car needed repair as it broke down in Lawrence. Both Russ and Robin were extremely helpful and they repaired it within a few days. They even tightened the belts at no add’l charge. Highly recommend them!
Sincere Genuine and real down to earth team. Helped my daughter and I out in a major bind.
The quality of the work is good but I cant recommend this place. They gave us an estimate and went *way* over that estimate without notifying us. Our final bill was so high we werent prepared for it and are still paying it off about a year later. If wed known the repair was going to be over $3,000 we would have given up on the car and replaced it. I resent that decision being taken out of our hands.
I have gone to Harris Auto Repair for the last few years and they are absolutely awesome. I LOVE supporting and having a locally owned and operated shop as a resource and reliable place to take all of our vehicles. Their technicians are so knowledgeable but always relay information in a way I can understand. Thank you, Harris Auto!!
Tom always takes great care of me!!
I went to Harris to have my oil changed. They were very professional and finished in a timely manner. Their office where you wait was clean and pleasant. I absolutely will go back!
The girl at the desk was very disrespectful. Not professional at all and it took double the time they told us would not come again very bad business very dirty waiting room. Not kid friendly at all 0/10 will never come back.
Harris Auto always does a fantastic job. Ive been there for a couple reasons over the past few years (wheel replacements, fluid changes, inspections, etc.), and theyve never let me down or tried to gyp me. They never push for extra work or try to upsell any products, but always make recommendations if necessary. Everyone their is friendly, hardworking, and easygoing. Harris is always my go-to.
Family owned shop. I save money compared to the big chains and they will always work with you.
They fixed my car and quickly, answered all my questions and were very fair
I would definitely recommend Harris Auto Repair. They fixed my car for a great price and were very friendly. My 12 year old car is driving wonderfully now!
They were very efficient and informative . An honest business.
They are always very friendly and quick. I take my work vehicle to them always. I have never yet taken my personal vehicle there, but they i called them about servicing it they told me it didnt need the items I was interested in doing at that time done at the current mileage, so I feel that they are probably not trying to simply rip people off.I will say that they seem somewhat expensive, but not compared to a dealer.Anyways, i have recommended them a few times to other ppl. Check them out!
They were able to provide same-day service, but another mechanic quoted me less, and they charged me $100 for diagnostics that I could have gotten free before I took it there had I known about that fee. They also went over the estimate they provided on the phone after looking at it.
Great service
Wow! What a great shop! I have been a client of this bunch for numerous years. In addition, I have referred family and friends and all have been pleased with price point as well as the awesome personal service!
Harris Auto Repair is always prompt to examine and work on my car, even with little notice from me - something Ive never come to expect from mechanics. They do a thorough job and would recommend them to anyone living in Lawrence in a heartbeat!
I have been using Harris Auto Repair for years now. They have great friendly service; people who are honest and hard working. They do a good job of making sure that your vehicle is repaired correctly and running well. Harris Auto Repair is on our business recommendation list for friends and family.
My favorite thing about Harris Auto Repair is their common sense approach to pricing. I drove home from a KCMO in a snowstorm one day when my windshield wipers started acting up. I was relieved to drive home into Lawrence and get my wipers replaced, with washer fluid refilled within 15 minutes and for under $30 bucks. It was obviously not a major project but still a snapshot of their efficiency and fairness.
Our kids took there vehicle in because it had a miss. It was diagnosed with a P0302 code. This obviously left several syptoms that could cause this. Harris diagnosed the car with 0 compression in cylinder #2 and they would need to rebuild or replace the engine. When I went in to find out exactly how they came up with that diagnoses, I was told the during the compression test it leaked out exhaust and the engine due to either a hole in piston or a burnt valve but either way the engine would have to be torn down. Burnt valve would have required head removal not engine tear down, hole in piston could have been discovered with a bore scope camera while plug was out for the compression test. To add to the disgust, by his vehicle has 80,000 very easy miles on it and has been maintained by the same shop since new. Some of the other possible symtoms that can cause this code are bad spark plug, bad plug wire, or a bad fuel injector. After borrowing a compression tester, compression in cylinder #2 was fine, no different than the rest. After about an hour later the issue was resolved and it cost less than their diagnostic charge and certainly did not require what they recommended. It is very sad to see a business trying to either take advantage of a young couple or just to lazy to really look and see what the issue really was. While doing a compression test it is important to ensure them engine is in the proper stroke to ensure both valves are fully closed to prevent leak
Harris Auto helped me as soon as they could and were straight forward with me. Car had an overheating issue just before it was time to go back home for the summer and they gave me an option of a full fix or a temporary fix that would allow me to go home ASAP. Tom was excellent over the phone on walking me through the problem.
Harris automotive really took good care of us. We dont live around lawerence. My daughter was staying there for awhile when her car broke down. The part was no longer available, new or otherwise. Tom worked on the car on and off after hours and on the weekend until he found a way to make it work. Then he charged us less than $100! I was very relieved when he got her going again, and pleasantly surprised by the price. Thanks, Tom!
Theyre great!! They always fixed my car to almost perfect condition! They even let me make payments while I got to keep my car!
They ripped off a 73 year old woman and a 19 year old young man. Charged me $4000 for a part that was not needed. Part fell off while my grandson was driving and tore up the entire undercarriage. All it needed was the right sized tire put on it. Pick up was totalled and they will not reimburse for the part and labor. Court is next!!
I always have a pleasant experience at Harris Auto will recommend to family and friends
Dont go to for electrical issues.Took my car to Harris after my gauges began going out under electrical load (headlights/AC on). Was told my battery was stripped and no good (it was 4 days old!) and it was replaced without contacting me first, even though Id asked to be notified of anything past the diagnostic. Nevertheless, I was told my problem was fixed and I could pick up my car. What was supposed to be a diagnostic ended up being parts and labor for a new battery, but whatever its fixed right? Within 2 minutes of being in my car I had the same issues. My apparently stripped battery was actually running the car better before they replaced it. Obviously was not tested. Took back in a few days later to be told my negative battery cable wasnt rated correctly for the battery (it was) and itd be $140 to replace it. I said no and I wanted some kind of refund for the couple hundred bucks I paid previously for no result. They denied me saying all the only way they could do that would be to undo the work they did, except they didnt have the core battery anymore so it wouldnt be possible.Couple weeks later I took my car elsewhere for a diagnostic. New place very quickly found that the cable just had a bad ground. Cleaned it up for $30 and my car has been fine ever since. Obviously Harris never bothered to test anything before they went to work replacing parts without even notifying me, against my wishes.Truly terrible service. Were outright wrong every step of the way. Do some easy tests before you start charging customers for guesswork.
While my particular problem was unique, Harris was able to take a pragmatic approach to fix the issue in a timely manner. Five stars for going above and beyond all expectations.
Lance provided a quick estimate, gave me all the details on how long it would take to fix and most importantly, delivered on the estimate and turnaround time. They did a great job and I would recommend to my friends.
I recently got a diagnostic done on leaking coolant/antifreeze. Upon completing the diagnostic I was told it was the intake manifold. I said thanks and then went to fix the part myself and once I took the manifold out I didnt see any leaks or broken parts so I assumed it was the gasket. Well once I replaced the manifold I called because I had the same leak. The lady that works told me she was confident with their diagnostic and then told me that I did it wrong and should watch youtube videos to figure it out then hung up.Go to ATSI if you need work done your car as they will assist you over the phone and will give you the RIGHT answers to why you car is acting up. It was a rusted freezer plug.Up until that point Harris Auto was really friendly but not happy I did the repair myself and then turned rude towards me when I asked for advice if there was another thing I could check about the leaking antifreeze.
Pressed a bearing for me quickly and for fair price. I would use them again.
In my business, I have a 2007 Dodge Nitro. I trust no one else to service this vehicle other than Harris Auto Repair. Great Service, Great People.
Excellent and honest service. Great experience here.
These guys are crooks! They said they did an alignment and a went to double check their work. It was more lo ut of alignmeny then before! Also over charged me. Overheard one of the owners talking abouy how they needed to make more money or they were sunk! Guess I know how they are saving costs!!
My brakes locked up on my 1986 GMC Vandora Short Bus & its leaking lots of red liquid from underneath, Today is a Saturday so I google auto repair shops and most all are closed on weekends, I noticed that Harris Auto repair has very high reviews and there open today😄, I called and the guy that answered the phone named Lance seemed nice and super receptive to my situation, I just dropped off my GMC and the guys were just as awesome in person, they said that they will take a look at it and call me before they start any work on it, so far so good & im impressed with there standards thus far, I will be sure to update this review with the outcome .
The worst auto shop that I visited in town. I had brake pads that need to be replaced. so I called them and was told that I can come to get checkup for free. after they checked the car, they wanted to charge for checking the car and gave a quota almost 100% more than the one that I usually have work done.
Great service, great techs, and no nonsense.
I had my 67 Mustang show car in for repair to replace my turn signal switch and restore the steering box and column. The switch was installed improperly leaving the car without brake lights!! This went unnoticed for several years while the car was in storage and being driven to shows. I spoke with Brian at the shop several times and they were not willing to work it out despite me having the original work invoice and a picture of the crappy wiring (splices) job they made at the switch. Poor customer service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I work there... Great family business...
This fix car best that l like it
Expensive but worth it!
The fix car is good
Poor college student, helped me out for cheap
They are good but expensive..
Works alright
