There is a wide variety of quality of clinical therapy out there and it is very hard for patients to navigate. I saw Kim Taylor, MS MFT back during a tough time in college back in 2015. After having succesfully gone through college and medical school, I now realize the quality of therapy here was so outrageously terrible. Ms. Taylor recommended thoroughly debunked techniques such as imagining a stop sign when uncomfortable thoughts occur or using a rubber band to hit my wrist when one of these thoughts occured. She insisted on diagnoses that reflected she did not truly listen to me and my story. Her practices were not evidenced based. I reflect back and feel fortunate I followed my gut feeling to discontinue this treatment before it had a signficant impact on my life and career.
