Was referred to them by Tricare. I called yesterday to make an appointment and had to leave a message on voicemail and they didnt call me back until the following day at around 8am. Before even making the first appointment, the person on the line was asking for all of my insurance information. At one point I had to find my insurance card online because Tricare doesnt generally use insurance cards and I asked him what information he needed. While I was searching for the card he asked if I had written down what information that he needed and that he couldnt stay on the phone to wait for me to find it and I would have to call him back. Was overall rude, and for someone seeking mental health care, it felt like I wasnt worth their attention. I will be calling my PCM to get a different referral.

Hope this is the Location Crystal works for. She has changed my life, in just a short few months. She has (in addition) to prescribed medication from a different hospital, has lessened my tension, depression, and aggression ten fold. I can be open and free with her about anything in my life, and not be worried that she will judge me in a harsh manner. She is calm, understanding,, and considerate of feelings and emotions that I have (and assuming her other clients have) I have found a small amount of zin already with her. I was sent to this location before, and immediately left, due to that particular counselor just stepping all over my toes. Just wasnt a good fit. I came back, because I still could not look life in the face, without shame, and embarrassment. It took me nearly 15 years of people telling me I need help, to finally get some. Thank You Crystal.- Frank

Getting therapy here completely changed my life in a positive way. My counselor Alex Stoker was so amazing, he went on to be the manager of all the other counselors at this establishment. It takes time to find the right counselor so if you don’t click with your first one, ask for someone else. It’s worth it to invest in your mental well being. Give this place a try, it may just change your life too!

Originally I really liked greater lakes because I never had a therapist that I didnt like I had Got bounced around a little bit but that wasnt too bad the only issue I really had was that my phone started having problems where I wasnt able to receive phone calls from them it was putting it straight to voicemail because somehow my phone was on some takeover mode where it was blocking phone numbers that I didnt ever request for it to block and so I kept trying to get a hold of greater lakes to get an appointment scheduled because you have to be seen by your therapist within every 30 days in order to stay in the program so I kept trying to call and get an appointment scheduled and would only get the voicemail so Id leave a voicemail and then theyd try and call back and they wouldnt be able to get through and theyd leave a voicemail and it was an ongoing phone tag etc until one day I got a voicemail on my phone saying that they had dropped me from their services and that when I called to find out what was going on I was told that I would have to take the assessment all over again and basically be re-entered into the program which I think is totally ridiculous because it isnt like I wasnt in contact with them I had been making the phone calls leaving the voicemails to try to initiate making an appointment I just was never able to get a hold and get talking to somebody in person but I do not think its right because its not like they didnt hear from me for 30 days I had been trying to get a hold of them the whole entire time and just never spoke to an actual person and only could get the voicemail so my rating would be a 5.0 but that was pretty disappointing that today Im having to re-do my assessment because I was unable to reach them on the phone when during covid-19 times you would think they would have some kind of understanding for the fact that we are doing everything over the phone and that kind of makes it more difficult you would think they would give people a little bit more help instead of setting them backwards and try and work with them instead more but here I am having to do this assessment for the second time all because I couldnt schedule an appointment with them but it is not like I didnt try to so im feeling pretty unhappy with this senario SO BeWARE if you go here you may get shafted and have to take steps backwards when youve made it so far forwards it really is pretty defeating that they have their system set up like this what a joke

They may be conveniently placed. And the building may look pretty. But DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. They have SOME good counselors but if you don’t happen to luck out and get one you’ll be wishing you just listened to this review. Just in case you didn’t read it up there I’ll say it again. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Hope i saved someone months of agitation and frustration.

Needed meds for a patient and because she misses her appointment they would not give a refill. We were willing to make an appointment and still they would not refill. Now patient is sick and cannot sleep because out of meds. They told me when I called the first time they sent the refill to the pharmacy then turned out they refused the refill. It was mixed information the whole experience with them. I do not recommend. They never called back to set up an appointment either.

Ive never felt less cared for than I did a Greater Lakes. The councilor couldnt connect with me and every session he asked me if I felt like killing myself at least 3 times. Like he was a cop trying to catch me saying something so they could arrest me. Completely erased any goodwill he tried to establish and made me start watching what Id say... When COVID-19 started they switched to telephone only and would not place my status on hold, they just abandoned me. These people dont care about you, or your needs. Nobody can say I didnt try to get help now. There really is no help out there, so I give up.

I was forced to switch therapists after one or two visits after starting there, because they promoted the person they assigned me to. He was a good guy, friendly, and easy to talk to, but I had asked for a female LGBTQ+ aware therapist, and while he had the G part of that acronym, didnt fit my request for a therapist which didnt help me be comfortable to talk about some of my issues..The person they switched me to, I met with once, and shes cancelled every appointment with less than 12 hrs notice. Try to get a supervisor on the phone, and they never answer, and never call back.Id like to be able to rate the actual services, but they dont seem to offer them. To be honest, Id recommend people find somewhere else to go, that isnt focused on drug rehab and psychosis.

I was in Greater Lakes for three years since I was thirteen, and I switched counselors three times. When I was first in Greater Lakes, they diagnosed me as having anxiety. You may think well, great! They figured out the problem! But that was not the case. Not at all.I had attempted to cut myself about a week either before or after I started therapy, I cant exactly remember. It was four years ago.For three years they failed to diagnose me properly.Turns out, I had anxiety and depression, which I was clearly showing signs of.But as a extrovert with anxiety and depression, they couldnt see what was going on with me, since Im always excited about pretty much everything. I wasnt.I cannot believe that they couldnt do their jobs properly, and about a little over a year ago, they let me go on the account of I didnt have the will to change.I was like What!?.I left and Im never going back.

I do not recommend this place. They harass patients with their policies. They have so many I would be very careful going to them if your going through a critical time. They will stick to their policies and tell the person in crisis that they must jump through hoops to be considered for counseling again. Do not trust these people. Even if you cancel ahead of time you will be out on standby and required to walk in and talk to a supervisor for 30min then I would receive my counselor again. I am a single mom going through a lot and i canceled the day of. I recieved a voicemail from my counselor letting me know I needed to schedule an appointment last monday Oct 14 because of my cancelation the week before. No contact between this time because me and my son were trying to beat a cold, Following Friday, 4 days later, I recieve a voicemail letting me know my schedule appointment was missed and now Im required to do the walk in, which is completely different from the voicemail the monday before. I planned on calling monday and I was harassed Friday. I called and was talk down as if this policy was appropriate, let me remind you I canceled Tuesday Oct 8 and received a call the following monday to schedule and all of a sudden friday the system is showing I missed my appointment. So for nearly 1 and a half weeks there was no issue but because I didnt call in their time limit I was harassed and told even cancelation of that day is marked as a missed appointment. Fine but that is not what happened. They will turn you away if you do not jump through their hoops. It isnt worth your mental health. Go to people who reach out kindly not pass you around like a crazy person with a complaint.

I feel like a lot (if not all) of the staff/employees here are really sheltered and dont exactly have the experience to provide the right kind of help and resources to the population they typically seem to work with. Never in my life have I had greater care and the best support system to run too!!! They even had to help me when I went to Hawaii. It was to be a joy us time and I messed up and had anxiety cause I didnt know where I stood with certain people while there. They gave me a councilor as well as my peer councilor who called me back to help. Dont know what or where I would be today if it hadnt been for their professional care. I am so much better and off my meds now at my request. But I was not receiving any meds from Greater Lakes. Now I have one more to get off and I will feel complete. This company has been on board with me for over one year now. I hope others allow their kind, gentle, encouraging help, because they want to help. Thats what makes them different from any other place Ive been too. May God Bless You All At Greater Lakes Mental Health Center. Thank you all!!! With much sincerity and appreciation Judy B.

Ive been going to this clinic for years. Many of the complaints are counsellor specific, and may not even apply, considering any turnover that undoubtedly occurred. Its all about rapport with the counsellor, and that can be hard to find, but if you meet someone who is a good fit, then Greater Lakes will treat you well.

Ive been coming here off and on for several years due to PTSD. Initially I didnt know how to navigate and let counselors guess how to help me, but after several failed attempts, and through my own research and advocacy but still needing help, I was paired with a counselor who has understood me, as a result, I have stopped having reality breaks, stopped feeling stuck and sm now addressing issues head on in trauma processing therapy. I also attended all onsite groups, but only found 1 helpful. This place was my lifesaver.

I really want you to know that if you have mental health issues like I do then this is the place to be. My counselor Mrs Greer well what can I say about her, she is the best. She makes you feel so comfortable and special. She is has been being so imformative on how to work with my voices and seeing things.iwas dignosed with scyco- effective and bi-polor dissorder and PTSD I am all messed up.She makes it easier for me to learn how to help myself. Oh and Dr.Hicks he is awesome to he proscubes your meds. The receptionist really makes you feel at home. Oh and did I mention that they have a pharmacy on-site. They have always been very attentive they always call me when they have to let you know of any problems or have to ask questions. I am so happy that I chose Greater Lakes as my safe place to feel better. The pharmacy also will bubble pack your medicine from Medical Dr and mental health Dr. Helps me so I know if I took my meds that day. I highly recommend this place to all. I have readOther post and some are very neg. I personaly have never had any problems. I look forward to my Appointments.I am real sorry that they had such a bad expérience.i have been here for i think 2yrs or so. Well i also was going to the 72nd one too. They are great too. I just wanted to say a very special THANK YOU TO MY COUNCELLER MRS. GREER SUMMERSON she has been really great. She is teaching me so much on how to cope with my illness. I found out SOMTHING i never knew about myself i am pretty good at arts and crafts. The coloring it sure helps with my anxietey and stress and tje voices and seeing things all i have to do is focuse on what im doing and it slows down. Also I am GRATEFUL TO DR. HICKS i think i have finally on the right meds. The symtoms are not gone but it helps quiet it to a lower key. So if any one was to ask me if I would recomend greater lakes to someone who needs extra help i would say HELL YA!!!!!!#

They fail to tell you they do not have any leeway for appointments. If you are 60 seconds late you are forced to reschedule. So, if you take the bus and arrive early, you must wait outside. Ridiculous.

I was seen by Adelina for about a year. I have been diagnosed with complex PTSD, severe Depression and Anxiety. I was a complete mess and didnt know how to cope with anything, no matter how small. I almost stopped going in the beginning, but it got so much better, it was just hard talking about it all. I went for an hour a week and it changed my life completely. I did not see anyone who could prescribe however the therapy and my doctor were able to help a lot. I dont know where I would be if it werent for them. I do know that not everyone has this experience but maybe getting a new therapist or counselor could really help.

These guys left me with a BAD taste in my mouth. The intake lady who did my assesment has misdiagnosed me, saying Im only Bi-Polar. Im sorry folks but when filing for disability Id been examined by scores of psychiatrists and psychologists (some on the Greater Lakes staff!), including a FORENSIC psychiatrist/psychologist and they unanimously diagnosed me as having Bipolar, Major Depressive Disorder, and Panic Disorder. Now this one lady is saying Im only Bipolar after one quick in-and-out visit. My therapist has accused me of looking up my symptoms online and basically called me a liar without actually saying it. Ive been on long-term anxiety medication for 9 years and they dont want to give it to me because it happens to be a Benzodiazepine with low potential for abuse. Ive always been fully compliant with my medications and have never abused/misused them, but these people at Greater Lakes treat me as if Im just some junkie looking for a fix. Oh yeah and it takes 4+ weeks to even GET a med eval there for medication management. After years of misery and exhausted attempts in finding a medication that works, (we tried EVERYTHING btw, Neurontin, Buspar, Vistaril, Effexor, and scores of others which all proved to be completely ineffective for my condition) theyre treating me like Im a liar and an addict. I have found another MD who is willing to continue my course of treatment (thank God). Now coincidentally I have a major review coming up for disability and SSI to determine if Im still disabled or has my condition improved at all, in which case would render me ineligible for benefits. Their half-assed diagnosis is going to sabotage my review and potentially cause me to lose my disability and be destitute once again. They do not truly care about people there, they let personal judgements & prejudice interfere with their medical judgment and their ethics are sorely lacking to say the least. I urge anyone seeking compassionate mental health treatment to find someplace else in the area. If you are low-income or on Medicaid I suggest Cascade Mental Health in Tacoma, SeaMar Behavioral Health, or Good Samaritan.. ANYONE but Greater Lakes. God Bless everyone who reads this and good luck.
