I would like to start off by saying this gym is awesome so is all the employees that work there especially employer Raymonta trainer.. The gym is very clean and well kept the machines are always kept up and ready for use I love the fact that they greet you on the way in and on the way out awesome job way to go crunch is on fire in lakewood
Located in an outdoor strip mall, this Crunch gym had great parking in the early morning hours. There was also no crowd and the patrons who were there were friendly and cleaned up after themselves. The gym was decently sized and well equipped. I loved how the equipment was not crowded together. The gym was spacious for its size. The cardio area was better than the weights area. The gym was clean and I only noticed a few pieces of equipment in need of repair. The locker rooms were clean and in good working order. In addition to the showers, there was one changing stall.Staff was friendly.Good gym.
Love them but I wish they had more squat racks and flat benches.
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! i’m so disappointed as a gym member for more than a year i have never felt this way the manager is such a creep. very disrespectful staff. 0/10 do not come here
Its ok. It could have been a little cleaner and had more air circulation. You have everything you need. Its not good or bad but if its your only option, you will be fine.
Great Place to get fit! The Manager Brandon Was super helpful and gave me solid fitness advice I will recommend people just because of him!!
At the time of signing for membership, I was told by the girl at the desk that helped me sign-up, if I want to cancel, only a manager can cancel. She told me, in that case, I needed to call ahead to make sure the manager would be there. She said the manager isnt always there. Believing that she gave information that was given to her to tell members, I do not, in any way, blame her for the information she gave to me.When I wanted to cancel, I called many times and never got through to anyone at Crunch. Automatically, the call disconnected after ringing a few times. Finally, I went to the location to cancel. I was told that in order to cancel and not be charged, I had to cancel two weeks before the billing date; otherwise, even if I dont show, Ill be billed. Also, the person with whom I spoke at Crunch that day, said the manager is there always. I didnt have to call first. I told him, I was told I had to call.I decided to e-mail Crunch. A response came from a manager at Crunch; no name was given. The e-mail stated that no complaints were received about Crunchs phone system. I have the calls to Crunch recorded on my phone, so, there was a problem!Crunch makes it difficult to cancel! Claiming a person has to cancel a CERTAIN way.Per the instructions from the girl, I call to make sure a manager would be at the location. All my calls would disconnect, and I never reaches a person.I went to the location. There I learn that I didnt need to call, a manager is there all the time, and I get the news that I have to cancel two weeks before billing date. Why wasnt the two weeks before the billing date explained at the time I signed up for membership? Also, please note, that because Crunch was making it very difficult to cancel my membership, I called my bank to stop payments. It’s unreasonable that I am charged monthly whether I attend or not, and in this case, I’ve hit obstacles that prohibit me from cancelling so that I won’t be charged! The instruction given to me by the girl who signed me up for membership about calling to make sure a manager would be at the location is wrong! Then, I go to the location and find out there is a manager there always and I didn’t have to call! To top it off, I’m informed of a 2 weeks prior to billing time-line. I don’t want the membership!!! I’m not going to pay because I’m being stopped from canceling memebership!
Overall pretty nice gym, with descent equipment, and its always clean
Needs work, my location was closed for whatever reason, and they didnt even give any notice, so I ended up at the Trailer park Ives in shock a huge difference compared to my location, raggedy omg I was speechless the machines some of them not in good condition, the set up of all the machines was making me dizzy, anyways I gave two stars I got in my early a.m. workout, I will not be back to this location.
Better equipment than Planet Fitness lol
Ooooooh man where do I start I love this location so much, honestly from in door to out door doesn’t change my workout much everything is provided in the outside area to get all types of workouts done, even feels better for my lungs when I get to workout outside gives me that muscle beach vibe of out door workouts
Always clean, and very friendly personal trainers! Recommended.
The management and staff are horrible when it comes to customer service. They act poorly when you have any issues and dont show any proactiveness towards resolving said issues. They make it extremely difficult to accommodate if it is something they dont want to do. Im shocked on how they talk to customers when they dont want to do something.
Very unhappy with the management here. Issues are handled terribly regarding unauthorized billing and cancellation of membership. I am very upset that I have been billed multiple times since COVID has started. I am not very happy with the customer service. I demanded for refunds and NOT credit. I have spoken with District Manager, Ed Laisuwan, and Lakewood Crunch Manager, Timothy Noel, who I have emailed 12 times to get this issue resolved. Since July, I was promised a refund for June since all gyms were not allowed for operation. Timothy Noel said that he got an approval for a refund but then later said that it was denied. While waiting for my refund, I get charged my yearly fee while the gym is CLOSED. He never followed up for my refund and I had to email him back to follow up on my own about the refund that he promised. Both have been full of lies and neglect about this matter. It is now September and no progress have been made. I am very disappointed and very upset that I do not want to stay with Crunch no longer because of the poor management and poor customer service. Customers are treated with no respect and only want my money. Since June, I was charged $90. And was recently charged a yearly fee that was not noted on the paper I was given when I froze my account. I know that this was done on purpose so I wouldnt know when to cancel my account if I wanted to. I have all email chains that I would like to share and be reviewed. I am demanding for full refunds and NOT credit. I would like to reach out to the higher management, please! I am in disgust of the poor customer service that I have been served for the past few months from Crunch! I will be leaving reviews on Yelp and Google regarding this matter.
Wouldnt allow me to take my guest, next time you disable your members features please send out communication. How am I suppose to guess your peak hours and if you are honoring your features? Also it makes no sense to try to force us to get another membership when Im clearly paying extra for the guest privileges....
Its alright here. Machines outside are really close together so its kind of weird when trying to practice social distancing. Sometimes there are people even working out without their masks on. Also have to wait for weights and machines as it always seems overcrowded.
There is alot of people there and some would take off there mask but most didnt Im scared to keep going they should limit the people
It was very welcoming
Will, formerly with the Long Beach location, told me about the Lakewood location.Lakewood has figured out the solution for peace-of-mind workouts in this pandemic. Exterior gym... Venice Beach style! Properly spaced equipment and controlled people capacity. All gyms should attempt to adopt this model.Building immunity to this virus through fitness is another way we are going to combat this thing.
Worst gym Ive been to! They say one thing and do another. The people working there think they are better then everyone else. They are friendly and welcoming up until you have a problem then there mood gets nasty and they dont care about any problem you bring to their attention.Horrible! They give you no notification on anything. Never Going to ANY crunch gym ever again!
Due to covid-19 i have not ben able to work out its been hard but crunch gave me that love them place wish it was bigger but i still can get a good safe work out in
Worst crunch ever! They require to have towel even though the crunch in Burbank provide towels
Such an awesome place
Great place to workout. Just need to open up the inside.
Despite having highest membership to all locations, these guys tried to charge me for the towel😄
Love it, love the equipment, the staff very nice and helpful..outside gym not a fan of when its hot, but its worth the workout :)
Nice staff, Brain and Olivia super friendly!!
This place is bad all the way around. The customer service is non existent. The machines are always out of service. Not trying to be a D but this place just sucks.
Horrible, old equipment and always dirty speacially the lockers and restrooms
Good Gym
Still open. Mask is optional while working out but you do have to wear one entering and exiting. If you want to be extra precautious, you can wipe down each equipment you use. Glad its still open.
I have been going to this gym for over an year and have loved everything about it. Until today’s experience withTim! I was visiting with my usual +1 guest and to say the least he harassed us with not much explanation. He asked my guest for their ID and they provided their school ID. He then asked for “birth certificate or passport.” I thought he was joking at first and then he said we were unable to workout. I was confused and tried to explain that we have never had a problem over the 30+ times we have visited. He clearly did not want to hear me or be understanding and I asked to cancel my membership. He didn’t apologize and the entire situation felt uncomfortable. He was quick to cancel my membership but was unable to since I started my membership with the Long Beach location so he referred me to that location. I visited the Long Beach location within the next 20 mins and was treated like a human being by Jimmy. He understood and APOLOGIZED for the miscommunication. I was even offered a discount on a membership and was able to workout with my guest after a few minutes of explaining my situation and coming to a resolution. Overall Tim I pay a monthly fee to workout at a place where I feel comfortable and respected. I dont need a “general manager” to intimidate me, disrespect me or treat me any less than a paying customer for over 3 years and basically kick me and my guest out.
To be honest this gym is a great place to go to. Great manger that’s welcoming and nice and the staff also! Good air quality and nice people. Their music is okay but I don’t really tend to care as much since it’s just music. But overall this gym is great
Rude, no consideration about financial crisis and would not let me cancel. Got charged about a year without even going for nothing and when stopping my yearly renewal. I was rejected and they still would charge me. General manager Timothy was un-sympathetic and did not care to help me, he insisted I freeze my account. Even after I told him it would freeze my banking account due to no funds. He didnt care worst service Ive ever encountered in a supposed Gym friendly experience.
I am just visiting for work and i come to this area 2 times per year for a few weeks each time. The front desk guy was super helpful in getting me the best deal so i can use the gym while im here. It has everything i need for my functional training!
Since they moved the equipment outside its a horrible experience. The workout area is near the shopping center dumpster and maggots are everywhere. Theyve been trying to eradicate them but they are still there. And now we cant take our gym bags in the workout area anymore. Dont think Ill be going back here anytime soon.
Love the friendliness of the staff.. stays a bit on the crowded side.. overall I like going there. I always feel better walking out.
Good ppl good staff!
They get 5 stars just cause their open thru all this Pandemic
I love how theyre open 24/7 on most days which is great for my busy schedule. The machines are up to date and are cleaned on a daily basis. My overall experience so far has been great and I would definitely recommend Crunch to my friends and family!
The people are welcoming and nice. The membership is affordable and the location is convenient. The customer service is good and they answer any questions to the best of their abilities. There could be more machines considering when it gets busy. Overall its a good gym for being on a budget.
Great gym with low membership cost, exactly what you would expect though, little machine variety for strength training...It tends to get crowded in the late afternoon so getting a machine can become quite the challenge.....Mornings are usually the best time to go. The staff is friendly but lacks in numbers, on busy days it takes a while before they can get to you if you have any questions. Great members whom most are amiable go here, really makes the experience enjoyable.
This is the best gym ive ever attended. There staff is willing to help when they see u need help. Show you pointers on how to become more fit. There classes are very intense but an absolute instructors. I would definitely recommend to anyone to join. And there prices are well worth it
Its awesome. Great atmosphere.
The gym is good but sometimes the music is very loud.Even when I asked the stuff they just kind of smiling .Thats okay my husband and I are thinking about canceling our membership. There are other good gym with decent music. So many are listening to there own music anyway .
Just spoke to Angel and he said the only way you can cancel your membership is in person. I tried explaining that I was out of state and didn’t have a way to go in person. He was polite but still said he couldn’t help me. I really liked this gym back when I lived in the area but now it feels like they’re holding me hostage unless I can find a way to go in person. If you’re someone who travels I don’t recommend joining this gym.
Restrooms need to be cleaned a little more often but I think its their members responsibility as well. Other than that their facilities, including the showers, are very clean. They have plenty of paper towels and provide filtered water to refill your water bottle. Staff is very knowledgeable and nice. Their equipment is always working. If something does break they usually fix it very quickly.
I just started coming here around April 2017. And I have to say I love it. This gym has everything I need, and want to work on. Staff is friendly & helpful. And its just the right size. I always look forward in going to the gym.
Been coming here for almost 4 years now and plan to renew my membership again next year. Its simple but has everything I need, the classes are fun and actually challenging, and the staff are very friendly.
Ill be going to this place for almost two years there tanning is really great
This place is so disgusting! The womans bathroom was so dirty! Who raised you ppl?? The fact that they werent clean is just beyond me!! Not 1 stall was clean 🤢
I joined Crunch in November. I had GREAT customer service when I was deciding on which plan. Then, I decided to hire a personal trainer, Kim. Kim is WONDERFUL! I bumped my sessions from once a week, to twice a week, and have recently increased them from 30 min sessions to 60 min sessions. I will and have recommended Crunch to others!
I am always welcomed when coming in the door to exercise. Crunch has everything but a pool. It has a good atmosphere with music to listen to and tvs to watch while you are exercising. The equipment is current and in good shape. I would recommend Crunch to my friends, and have done so!
I like this club! the classes are decent. Not fully sold on the personal training yet. But I like the number of machines and the water massage bed.
This is a good value gym. I dont give it four stars because it doesnt have a pool and parking can be terrible during rush hour, but it offers good classes and equipment for a respectable price. Personal training is also available for an additional cost, if thats something youre interested in.
Pretty good gym. But theres always classes going on and they go on one right after another so parking sucks from like 5-9 because of these classes. Also if you just like to work out on your own and not on the machines you have to go from like 12-5 in the afternoon because they have classes all morning and for the rest of the night
Great Gym, love ot better than any other gym Ive been to so far.. Go to crunch today. And nonI didnt get paid to say that.
Walked in the gym just to see Tim standing there, praying on people who were training. Watching him try to talk peoples ears off was just so off putting I called the cops on myself to escort me out. I was so petrified from the experience I couldn’t move so thank you Lakewood PD for being there to get me out of that horrible environment. #firetim #letpeopletrain
Ive been going here for three years and have had no problems. As far as membership is concerned you can sign up to not renew automatically every year. If you want to renew just do it before it expires.
Keep in mind that you are paying for what you are getting at this gym. Do not expect upmost customer service for that matter. Although I do like their no judgment philosophy, the gym should do more to nurture that environment and improve the overall experience.
I love coming to this gym in the early morning to workout before I go to work. The gym is nice and white and clean early am. They have various classes they offer early as well that is nice. Highly recommend crunch to friends and family with their low membership fees, no contracts And convienant operating hours.
Crunch Fitness is a great gym for a very affordable price. My membership is just $25 a month which allows me to bring someone for free everyday, so I bring my wife every time. Its a great deal for two people. I can also use the tanning booths and hydro massage for free. Free classes are also available bit they tend to fill up fast. Parking can be a struggle sometimes because its so limited. Especially at the beginning of the year when everyone is doing their New Years resolutions.
Great equipment, great staff especially Liz, and awesome atmosphere overall. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Great pump
Kicked my boy Jon Skywalker out of the gym because he didnt want to talk to tim while he was working out
Im a member of Crunch, Simi Valley. While traveling throughout LA for work, I sometimes go to a regional Crunch, so I dont have to travel home during rush hour. This place was good. Not pretentious. No one judged me.Im 50 and didnt feel out of place.
Really unprofessional manager has no communication with instructors when they miss class there is no substitute so we don’t have a class. It’s happened so many times now we talked to the manager and he said he didn’t even know his instructors were out for vacation. WASTE OF MONEY what’s the point of an affordable gym if you can’t even use it.
A great gym for me. Everybody is polite and professional. Love it
It is a very simple gym. Could use a bit more equipment other than that very good.
I left 4 stars 8 months ago & then they changed the manager from Ed to a guy named Alex. Ive been a member since Henry opened this gym, & before Alex, this gym had a family feel to it; but the new manager has made it feel corporate & uncaring of its members. He seems to want to make the experience as unenjoyable as possible. However, the majority of the staff is friendly as when they opened.
Finally a gym that keeps up with their machines and doesnt stink . Love my new gym
Great environment and lots of energy..
Unfortunately I have to say that this gym is almost as bad as planet fitness. Crowded, sketchy unexplained card charges and although the workers are very polite sometimes they flirt with each other and customers way to much. Not too bad but I just dont recommend getting the Peak membership. I had no problems with the basic membership but once I changed to the Peak all went to hell. Still, okay while it lasted.
I have been a member since 10/2017 and have had nothing but great experiences since. The customer service is amazing, the atmosphere is energizing and it is always clean when Im there in the mornings (the cleaning staff is always there when Im there).
When I started on my healthy and fit journey back in 2013 I started with Crunch Lakewood I love the feel and size of the gym and that people of all types and sizes came there and there was no judgements everybody was there for one thing and that was to workout. I love all of the machines, free weights and the classes that they offer. Im #TeamCrunch for life!!
Good place to work out
I love this place! Staff is great even Fire department is working out there! Im working out wirh my son. Love it! Good father and son time.
Other than the music, its a good place to workout at. The music sucks
Great gym for the price. Nice atmosphere and staff are helpful.
Decent gym. Horrible parking but better than the Long Beach location. Not as nice as the Cerritos gym. Easy going staff here.
Today everyone was ready to get there routine workout in at 5 this morning. The gym was closed & we all were waiting & people just starting leaving. I literally left at 6:15 & it still was not open. I called at 7:30 to see if they were open & he said yes. Never apologized about us standing outside waiting til after 6
This gym has a bunch of fruit loops. Tim is unbelievable
Nice and close to home. Small town feel with no pressure sales
It’s good for an hour or so work out but eventually gets crowded.
Dope gym
Great gym at such a low membership cost. Good equipment. Friendly staff.
Very good. Home aid bread and foods
Not only does Crunch provide a safe and clean atmosphere, but I have met and made good friends as well! It’s doesnt get any better than that! CrunchTHAT 🤷🏾♀️
As other member mentioned below, their management has a lot to ask for, Ive been charged for trainer services that I never asked for, so they came with the excuse that their system put my initial training session (over a year ago) as recurring, there is no contract stating that, and since I brought it up, they continue to give me the run around on my refund, I get tossed from one manager to the next, and still waiting on my refund. Legal action will need to be taken since this is considered embezzlement of funds. I will also cancel my membership and Ill have to put my bank on notice due to their constant habit of continuing to charge accounts even after its been cancelled.
Nice, clean equipment. Friendly staff.
Good place
Looks clean and the people were nice but its been four days since I requested and was promised information for my group at CSULB.
Delapidated. All the gym membership money and they have had a leaking roof for over a year. Also they take their time to fix equipments. I only go because its never as crowed as the Cerritos location and its closer.
Staff has been very nice and helpful, Gym is always clean and haven’t seen any machines down in the last 2weeks.
This place is super awsome ur workout is never delayed any machine is available and the place is super clean. The best part about it the people are super nice
Very friendly sraff and clean equipment. Some issues using my headphones in the treadmill plug-in ports but great otherwise.
Awful place, if you go at night is all filthy showers and equipment, never saw anyone cleaning. make sure what you sign, its full of surprises overcharges. do yourself a favor find another gym. worst gym ever been to.
I love Crunch/ Lakewood friendly staff clean environment, and everyone is very helpful. Trainers are awesome!
This gym helped me change my life
