This was my first time here and this place made a lasting impression. In the past, Ive gone to other auto shops and had my car misdiagnosed. (Because their intentions was to get as much money from me as possible.) That was not the case here. I brought my car here for a full tune up and they did great. The thing that stood out was how transparent they were. They took pictures and videos of the problems I had with my car. The service manager John was very informative and helpful. They have pandemic protocols in place. I would highly recommend this auto shop because of their transparency and honest intentions. And I plan on returning in the future when my car needs it. I went in for a leaking radiator to be replaced. The owner, Greg, was nice on the phone and quoted me one price but when I got a call from John it was $300 more than I was quoted. I managed to get it $150 lower but John told me I was taking money away from his worker. As it was they quoted me $380 on an after market radiator that you can find online for $100. Don’t go here. I was a repeat customer but never again.

From start to finish my experience exceeded expectations. John walked me through everything at the beginning, a couple hours later they sent me an email along with a follow up phone call and broke their evaluation down into 3 categories: Good, Needs Future Attention, and Needs Immediate Attention and they provided pictures with every bullet point so I could see what they were looking at. When I called back to ask about an issue my previous shop had told me about, John walked out while he was on the phone with me and checked it out himself and gave me feedback. Truly phenomenal customer service.

My sister and I were visiting from out of town, and we had an issue with our tire. The people here were so nice and helpful! They fixed our tire in about an hour and made sure everything was safe and fixed before they let us leave. They were so gracious and didn’t try to take advantage of the fact that we were from out of town and had to get our car fixed ASAP. I would highly recommend them!

Went from back country loud to nice and quiet.folks there are helpful, fair, and were able to explain clearly what needed to be done (as well as make some suggestions for ways to make the truck even quieter)overall, very pleased.

The work here is always fine., but when I came at 9:15 am this time and told them I had an old ailing sick dog and needed to be out by 11:00 I was told no problem. I walked back in at 11:15 and was told it wouldnt be ready for 15 or 20 more minutes and THEN they did not have it ready until 11:50/ not happy because of my already stressful situation

Based on the reviews, I called while traveling through to get emergency repairs. They got me in and out in less than 2 hours gave me good restaurant recommendations, found and find a problem I was unaware of and sent me on my way under their estimate. Fantastic service.

Had them do any oil change and tire rotation today. They were very reasonable on price, beat the other quotes Id received, and got me in and serviced quickly. They also found and fixed a problem that should have been resolved with a service I received from another shop (related to my suspension). My SUV is running better now than it has in a while. Id definitely recommend this shop.

The shop should have mentioned to me that AAA members can receive a discount on labor cost. Nobody there ever mentioned this to me. I only noticed a AAA post up high on the wall when I was about to leave outside of the shop. The shop refused to honor my AAA membership.

Ive used Gregs Automotive as my main mechanic for the past 4 years. Hes very good at keeping me informed of progress and any issue that may develop. He may not be the cheapest in town, but you get what you pay for. Do you want peace of mind or save a buck?

I was referred to Gregs years back by a friend who owns the same car, a Subaru, the same year as mine (2001). In the past I have had unfortunate experience with mechanics who say they know the car but have sometimes caused more harm. Greg and John are the most honest mechanics I have ever worked with. I live closer to Oakland, but it is worth it for me to get my car to Gregs in Lafayette, even if it involves having to partially paying for a tow. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Thank you!

Excellent customer service! Ive always been able to call Gregs Automotive and Muffler Repair and ask questions about the problems Im experiencing with my car. No matter the mechanic, as I describe what is happening they propose potential diagnosis and advise me what to do next. I took my sons car in because his battery kept draining. I knew it wasnt the alternator and it was a new battery only two months old. John, who serviced the car was very nice and polite. He found the problem, it was a short in the radio. The following day he informed me that he needed four tires and he got me a great deal on them. He also informed that there were a few more thing that the car needed to run safely this winter which I was grateful for because neither my son or I know anything about cars. I had a very good experience at Gregs Automotive and I will be bringing my car to them next time.

Okay. So I took a candy bar and have to review. HahaI took my car in for an oil change. Took them 4 hours to do it. Longest Ive ever waited for an oil change. But that is not my issue with this company. I was called during the oil change and told that my break fluid needed to be changed and they could do it while they had my car. I said no because I had just gotten it done 3 months prior. I wasnt sure which company was lying because gregs auto said that there was no record of the break fluid being changed on my car fax report. So I was worried that the other company charged me for a service they didnt perform. So I called the other company and they said to bring it in and they would fix change it. So the next day I took it to the other company and they tested my break fluid. (While I was watching them and they even gave me the test results) and it tested clean. My break fluid was not dark at all. It was really clean. Gregs auto lied and made up a problem hoping Id just say to fix it so they could make extra money. So now Im completely terrified that they are a shady company so I checked my oil... and it appears that they may have (I say may have because i have no proof) instead of changing my oil they just topped it off. Because its pretty gritty and still appears slightly dirty. I will never take my car to them again. The service is slow. And they arent honest. If you choose to go here for an oil change check and compare. Meaning look at your dirty oil before you take it in and check it when you leave. If they recommend stuck ask for proof. I.e filters and testers for stuff. I assume they give you a discounted oil change so they can upsell you with other odd maintenance needs that arent really needing change, or service.

I trust this place. They serviced my car, prioritizing safety as Id requested, I feel such a difference in driving it, and John, the manager was patient and not at all condescending when he explained what would be necessary to keep our old, neglected, back-up wheels running safely.

Recently went here and left my car overnight with no problems. They have a nice envelope to fill out and dropbox. I called them the next day to make sure they received my car. They told me they would get too it soon and call me. They figured out the problem and quoted me the total cost. They told me the hoped to get the part in buy the end of the day and get it done. Greg called me after 5 (they close at 5) and said it was finished. They left my car for me to pick up after hours. Although more expensive, they get the job done right.

Nice people but way too expensive. I was charged $127.80 for 4 spark plugs plus $144.00 for the labor to change them. I want small businesses to make a profit but a 5X mark up on parts is outrageous.
