Mixed review after going here.What they did well:They got the car in to look at it within an hour even though they were busy.Had the vehicle repaired within a couple days which was excellentPeople were friendlyPrice for work done was reasonableWhat needs work and why I would use caution if you are clueless about cars:After they looked at it they called and said the vehicle is undrivable and needs over $1,300 in repairs.This is where Im a bit disappointed in how they operate.I call them back and am told it needs control arms, struts and rear shocks. I question how rear shocks are causing the original problem and am told its just time since they are original and the car is 14 years old.They couldve easily been more upfront and on the original call been more like: you need control arms replaced to get the vehicle running again for $300. However its also probably time to get the shocks and struts done but not urgent at this time to get the vehicle running again. As when I questioned him I was told the rear shocks did not have to be done.Just seems like they could be a bit more transport and not try to get every dollar possible.

I recommend running as far away as possible from this shop. Towed my Mercedes there after it broke down, they diagnosed that the fuel pump was bad, replaced it, and one thousand dollars later I was back on the road. A week later, my car breaks down in the same exact manner it previously had. This time, I take it to a different mechanic, who tells me whoever did the fuel pump job had no business working on these cars. They wired the fuel pump incorrectly and the fuel tank float was stuck in half way, causing the car to read it had half a tank when it was empty. Furthermore, heated positive wire at terminal fuel pump was making poor connection, which the new shop I took to had to replace connectors at the fuel pump terminal. The current shop was forced to completely take out the fuel pump that your team put in and re-do the entire job the right way. I just paid this new shop $600, not including the cost of getting it towed, and this $600 was NOT to get any new parts, but to redo the fuel pump installation the correct way. $600 entirely to fix mistakes done by this shop. I contact AA about this and of course they give me the run-around for 3 days straight. Spent 3 grand here over the course of a couple months and this is how they treat their customers. Place is a joke.

Fantastic A+ service! They took excellent care of me when my car was leaking. I was a little panicked and they fit me in the next morning despite being super busy. They were very patient with me and my lack of knowledge on car maintenance. They were not at all condescending or try to charge me for work that was not needed. A wonderful, ethical, locally owned family business that I highly recommend!

Thad, Benjamin and crew were so helpful! In a pinch, they were able to look over our car while stopping by on a road trip. They even went the extra mile of driving us to the rental car and answering all questions along the way.

Wonderful service! I broke down while driving across country and this place was not only able to emergently squeeze me into their busy schedule, but the staff were extremely pleasant and kind. My exhaust system was frozen with ice and the catalytic converter needed replaced, so it was a time-consuming repair, but they were able to get me back on the road by the afternoon with the car fully functional, and the head guy even tried to buy me lunch!

Have taken multiple vehicles there on multiple occasions and they have never disappointed!! Very good communication and a very fair price!! They always seem to go above and beyond!!!

I went there this morning to have a new water pump put in my car and they did awesome! They saved me over $250 compared to many other places and even got me in first thing this morning only after first calling them yesterday . The shop was clean and the customer service was good too. I would highly recommend!!

Am very pleased with the service I received.I had a diagnostic performed at two places prior to coming to your business and I pretty much threw my money away to them.Your service experts got to the root of the problem with my vehicle.My truck has restored power now and is not stalling out.I still notice that it is ideling rough and has a miss.Am wondering if you could do a more thorough job of cleaning the Throttle Body Ports or if there is still an electrical issue,or moreover if it is just tired due to having 135,000 miles on it.Regardless, you guys have all my business now,hands down.

I definitely recommend this place and plan on taking my car here regularly. The staff is very knowledgeable, honest, and friendly. Their prices are excellent and competitive. I took my car in because I probably needed new break pads. They did a very thorough inspection and actually took the time to show me that I still have a sufficient amount of break padding left. Most places in town would have told you they were bad in addition to cramming other services down your throat. This is NOT the case here, you are treated with respect and your vehicle gets extraordinary service. I think its worth mentioning this place is very female friendly in respect to NOT taking advantage of you. I have been to soooo many places where getting your car worked on is an absolute nightmare because they think a female will be gullible and easy to push unnecessary services on. Again, Not the case here!! Much MUCH better than the dealership and other places in Lafayette!!!!! I no longer have to stress out for car related issues!!!

My daughter is a student at Purdue and her alternator started to fail. Since Were 2 1/2 hours away, I looked up a few shops with good reviews and requested quotes from three of them. AAS came back with the best quote and my daughter said they got her in right away and were nice to work with and had a nice waiting area.

You can hardly find many honest mechanics today, but Ive found American Automotive Services highly reliable so far. Ive done many works with them on my 10 yrs old car. The first time I came here just for a second opinion but then I basically stick with this shop unless the job is simple enough to be done by myself at my garage. I also like the philosophy of the shop owner, they are very traditional and honest in a word, wont charge you with unnecessary work and blow smoke like some other shops in the town will.

Had our rotors replaced several months ago. Yesterday the rear wheel started smoking. Called Ben and he told me to bring it right in. They gave 100% guarantee on certain services and 12 month guarantee on others. He replaced everything under the warranty and I had my car back within 24 hours.

This review will sound bad at first but just you wait and read the whole thing.So I needed brake work done on my 2002 Pontiac Sunfire. I had taken my vehicle to AAS before and they seemed to have done great work for me. My breaks were repaired and I got back on the road. Unfortunately, I had to taken my car back to them 4 times because not only was it hard to adjust the brakes correctly for them but the brakes themself were just no good. I was getting very upset having to bring my car back in 4 times, but.....heres were the customer satisfaction comes in....they not only replaced my brakes with all new stuff...again...but were so nice to help me out with a few other problems I was experiencing....FOR FREE to show there apologies for it taking so many times to get right! It was so nice to see that they would go above and beyond like that just to say that they were sorry I had a bad experience.Not only do my brakes work 100% fine to this day, 12/16/2014 and I had the work done about 2 months ago, but they replace my brake lights light bulb holders because they werent working properly and they replaced my turn signal latch to the steering wheel(because it broke off) and all FOR FREE! That showed me a great priority for them in customer satisfaction and I was, still am, satisfied. I recommend them and believe they are not only trustworthy with vehicle repairs needed but a great staff that cares about you.
