This is a wonderful service that is offered for free to help people, especially addicts who are trying to get back on their feet, or to stay standing. Anyone who is struggling with life and lifes circumstances can go in and find out what exactly the Lakes Region offers. They will work closely with you to help you get insurance, into IOP, Individual therapy, into rehab, whatever it is that you are having a hard time doing, they are here to help. They hold many different meetings, that are open to the public, including but not limited to Creative Recovery, AA, NA, Losing a loved one to addiction, family support, etc. If you arent able to make it into the center they will call you and provide telephone support. They have a wide variety of staff, who works closely together to meet your needs... from a LADAC, PHD, Certified Recovery Support Workers, Recovery Coaches, Peer on peer, and so much more. Their staff is friendly, educated, understanding, kind, open-minded and extremely helpful, many of them have seen the depths of the hell people have gone through, and are going through. Their mission is powerful. We are lucky to have them.

This should be a judgement free and safe zone for people in recovery and their families. But since theres zero concern or care for the well being of your staff in recovery, let alone the community, none of us will be referring here or recommending this place until the director and some others are gone. We advocate for recovery, and strive to end stigma and support people who have fought hard to live. Not kick them when they are down and turn our back on them. So sad. Not friends or allies of recovery.

Since val is gone I wont be back. And I know many people feel that way. I read a lot in the paper about her not being There anymore and the funny thing is I tried writing to them and so did a few others that I know the newspaper wouldnt publish those letters but they have no problem publishing the ones that board members or people with a linked agenda write positive to them about. the newspaper paper is supposed to be neutral and report news good or bad. And letters to editor is the right express all opinions it doesnt matter if they agree or not. But thats not what our local paper does. Val was my counselor there and not only that but was a person who cared so passionately about her job that it wasnt even like work to her. I know she absolutely loved that place and the people she helped and most of her coworkers and I was so upset and sad to see a place like that is supposed to help people just toss someone aside like they were never there and not bother once to even check on their well being since. She helped save my life and I know many others she did the same for .I recently saw an letter in the paper from Phil spagnolo who used to work at the center and who also was pushed out for a lot of the same reasons and he claimed just a week before that that he was going to tell the truth and stick by the truth and tell the paper everything. LLiterallya week before then he obviously had a change of heart due to his seeking of a political career it was strongly suggestion to him to not go against the people in the background (board) or staff their. That it would be political suicide especially since Andrew Hosmer whos running for mayor is on the board there and has some pull. pretty obvious whats going on . Andrew Hosmer wrote an letter to the editor in response to all the many letters written to the editor in favor of Val and having positive things to say about her and exposing (trying to expose truth and the grievance filed by val right before firing her) the funny thing is in Mr. Hosmers letter he felt the need to state all of the things that navigating recovery has done in the community. If you actually read the letters to the editor about Val or navigating recovery at that time no one has claimed including Val herself to my knowledge that They hadnt done great things and many of the programs and services they provide were designed and helped to be created by val herself. Not to mention how many countless people that she did help and that still feel that way and were shocked to see her go considering she was the supervisor for her entire duration and trained many people and came up with all ofthe things they do today. No one was suggesting that most who work there or what they do was not positive but simply put if your child goes to school all year and behaves well but then all of a sudden you find out that they had been bullying and the kids are too scared to come forward until your child punched them that day so finaly told someone are you going to ignore that behavior and not investigate because everything else has been so good to your knowledge. No your going to look into it, one would hope. but thats the exact thing that happened here. Yes good things and good people came of that place no one has argued that however some bad did happen, was reported yet was not investigated and was ignored while it ruined someones life and was swept under the carpet. And firing her wasnt enough then asked her to sign a piece of paper promising to keep quiet about everything including the fact you asked her to sign that. You dont ask to sign a confidentiality Agreement 6 pages long and offer to pay them for their silence if there is nothing to keep quiet about. Besides the fact that ayone who knows val Already knows that she didnt sign that yet still kept quiet. Shes the only one that hasnt come forward with a voice to stick up for herself Even though she was so wronged by them all of them. What you all did to her is so sad and disgusting and I really dont know how any of you sleep at night.
