They Parked truck in back and ignored it 2 months. Paid them 2 times. They had no idea what to do? Had it towed to Dixie Drive Collision and it was fixed in 24 hours. If you have lots of time and money and dont need your vehicle, this is the place you are looking to do business with!

Took my 09 Mazda to them on a Saturday morning. It was diagnosed (for free with purchase of repair, they have a ton of coupons on their site) within a few hours, they gave me a quote, and they set to work on fixing it. Repairs were done next day (couldve been same day but the part was hard to find, not their fault, still very fast!!). The part ended up costing them more than what they quoted me but they honored the original quote. Very fast, very fair prices, and just a really honest shop. Ill definitely be back for anything I need!

They have toys for the kids and just all around good people and service. I have heard the owner on the phone and with other customers as well. Went to La Car Porte to have them check out a used work truck I was planning on purchasing. They gave it a good look see from bumper to bumper. By the time they were finished (which was timely for what I asked them to do), the truck was given a clean bill of health with a couple of notes on what needed to be done, but they were only minor. Very professional, friendly, and when I left they had a new customer. I would highly recommend them. Ask for Michael.
I am extremely disgusted by the complete lack of customer service and blatant disrespect that I experienced at this place of business.Earlier this week, on April 19th, my caregiver took my car into La Car Porte for a routine oil change. Outside of their shop, they advertised a special of $21.95 for an oil and filter change, so I expected her to come back with a total bill around $24, including tax. When she came back with only a credit card receipt that did not reflect what the balance should have been, I decided to go up to the shop with my caregiver to get to the bottom of it.When I arrived at the shop, I was met by Michael (the owner). I explained that there was a discrepancy between the credit card receipt and the advertised special amount. Since the credit card receipt was the only thing that I had to go off of, I asked for an itemized invoice to see why the cost was off. Michael preceded to become irate and spout off that, “most people don’t want an itemized invoice.” When I asked again for the itemized receipt, his belligerence escalated and he then accused me of “killing trees because I wanted a paper receipt.”Throughout the entire transaction between the two of us, he was extremely rude and argumentative. His voice and tone were elevated throughout the whole conversation, and his body language was very combative. He would interrupt my talking with rude phrases such as, “just let me finish.”I have never been treated so horribly in a place of business. The craziest thing is that all of this occurred because I simply asked for an itemized invoice. Makes me wonder why he was so reluctant to give it to me. I will definitely never go back to this place.

Only true complaint is that they dont offer a free rental, as advertised on the website. However, I will be returning to them for future maintenance and upkeep.
These guys are awesome!! Took my jeep in for a wheel alignment, and they ALSO rotated my tires...for free... AND told me about a $20 off coupon!! Everyone was really friendly, and very conversational. They told me what was going on with my jeep and what they did to it. Ill definitely be back if I need any other work done.

I hardly ever leave reviews but Im always impressed by the customer service at this place so Im writing a review while they change the oil in my car. My husband and I both bring our vehicles here. They are always friendly, fast and helpful. They have toys and books for kids, a phone charger and wifi password available while you wait. They were honest with me when my maintenance light was on (reset it for free) and when I had a question about my tires, they brought me out into the shop to explain everything and give me a mini lesson in tire tread. I trust what they tell me when I bring in my car. Happy repeat customer!

I’ve been taking my vehicles to La Car Porte for the past 15 years, and each visit reminds me why I keep returning for my automotive needs. My most recent interaction was with Michael, and I never even had to step foot in the business. My mother’s old Mercury Cougar’s check engine light was on, which could’ve spelled disaster on her Social Security income. After speaking with Michael on the phone about the situation, he asked if she could bring it in to see what they could do. My Mom is a frail, little old lady that could’ve been easily taken advantage of, but the good ol’ folks at La Car Porte treated her like family. Their porter service gave her a ride safely back home while they worked to diagnose the problems. Michael & his team stayed in frequent communication with me by phone to work out the most reasonable & cost-effective solution. Near the end of the next day, they had addressed the issues with the warning light, changed her oil & filter, and sent their driver to pick her up from home. After a minimal expense & time, my old Mom was safely back on the road. La Car Porte really took care of us, saved us time & money with their knowledge & experience, & treated us with respect & service that goes above & beyond expectations! Thank you again Michael & your whole team ... you will probably never fully know or realize how much ya’ll actually helped us out! The only thing I can do to show my (our family’s) appreciation is to continue bringing you our business. We’ll see ya’ll again real soon👍🚙
This place looks terrible. Forget how it looks! Every time that weve taken a car there, weve gotten better service than at the local dealership. I think weve used them through five different cars. Their prices are reasonable and their work is professional.
This place is a RIP OFF quoted me for a 5.3 motor and installation 3975 so average used motor price 1000 hi end price they were charging me 2900 installation it comes out to about 162 dollars an hour labor rate then to put in a used tranfer case 1800 bucks I wouldnt go to these guys for an oil change and people wonder why most people dont shop local I just found a place in houston 1500 for motor and installation with 6 month warranty and 600 for transfer case installed 6 month warranty

I have never been a big fan of change. I am 63 now and the older I get, I like change even less. I have been using La Car Porte for my car service needs for several years now. Not too long ago, the original owner retired and the service manager that I had come to know and be comfortable with moved away. I was originally skeptical that the new personnel would maintain the business to the standard that I had become used to. I can emphatically state that they have continued the high standard of excellent service that Richard, the original owner, established. I recently had my car in for service, and while there, they identified a problem that, if left unattended, would have become a greater issue soon. Repairs were made and the car is in great shape. Kudos to Michael, Ben, Alphonse and other staff that I may have left out because I dont know their names. I can emphatically recommend La Car Porte for any and all automobile service needs.
Ive used this shop several times with all of my vehicles over the last 3 years and they are always honest and great. The repairs are done right and they stand by their work. Most recently I had a tune up, brake job, oil change, tires, car inspection, and a few other things, including pre-car buying inspections on vehicles done there and they literally saved me thousands on one of the cars I liked. I truly appreciate the straight forward, honest, good people working there, I send my family and friends to them knowing they will not do them wrong.
I had a horrible experience at La Car Porte. I normally dont write reviews, but I used the google reviews to make up my mind on whether to use this place or not, so Im adding my 2 cents. My observation was the most recent reviews were awesome, and the older ones were horrible- so I thought, maybe theyve gotten better. WRONG! I took my car in last Friday morning for a minor repair and was told it would be fixed by lunch. That afternoon I got the call that it was a $2k repair. Needless to say, it was one thing after another every day until I got my car today, Thursday. They would never call me when they said, and the only information I got was when I initiated the calls. Not to mention I work down the street, and in the week they had my car, I did not (nor did anyone else) EVER see the car being worked on. Basically it took them a week to do what other mechanics have told me is a 2-4 hour job. Also, at the end, I was told I needed an alignment for an outrageous price. I told them no, I would take it elsewhere. They performed the alignment anyway, which I said I would not pay there price for... then, they gave me a discount (which was still over what anywhere else charges). While I was picking up my car, one of the guys was speaking to an older woman about getting her AC re-charged. He was quoting her $500 to replinish her free-on!! She was completely unaware that he was about to rob her blind! I will never take any car back to this place. They only want to over-charge you and have zero consideration for customers. They were not in any kind of hurry to get my car fixed. If my warranty had not covered the work at this place, I would have never left my car there. I gave the positive reviews the benefit of the doubt... DO NOT. These must be employees or family, because from each of my times in the office, the treat new customers like they were born yesterday and that you have no choice but to use their shop. Id like to say Id pay more to take my car elsewhere, but I have never in my life seen a shop that charges as much as they do.

Have you noticed that all the 5 star reviews seem copy/pasted? This place is TERRIBLE. I went in for an inspection at 1:30, he tells me I have to wait until 2:30 because he is on lunch. So basically they are closed and dont disclose that anywhere on their signs or website. A total sham. I wasted gas to get there, and the front counter employee was very rude and didnt even apologize. Will never take my car here and I suggest you go somewhere else also.

UPDATE... SUED this erogant untouchable, look me up guy.. won the lawsuit and guess what.. nothing.. so now further action is required and that will happen as well.. biggest joke of ownership I know.If I could give this place zero stats I would! I called all dealerships in the area because I knew from my prior experience as a mechanic that it would take an or call scanner to communicate and properly fix my vehicle, they assured me they could. The dealers were all about a month to two months out due to a recall on airbags.. they Charged me almost 2k and the very next day the vehicle was doing the same thing. I took my vehicle back and they wanted me to take it to a dealer for a recall that has nothing to do with the transmission and then they can verify it was their fault and would not give me money back and was actually asked to leave after I was polite and gave them the opportunity to handle this in a professional manner.. on top of that the owner asked me one day when I came to check on it if I knew anything about bikes and showed me a bike that he wanted to sell. . I bought it from him with a bill of sale and found out it has a lien on it after I was trying to get a bonded title on it. I contacted him and was put on hold while he attempted to find a number so I can contact the original owner and then told he would call back.. I gave him the chance... DO NOT EVER STEP FOOT IN THIS SHOP!! you will regret it!!!!

Crooks. Dishonest. My husband had repairs done on his truck. When he left it felt awful driving it. They had no interest in looking further into it. We brought it to another automotive facility and the mass air flow sensor was unplugged. Which is why his engine light came on. A mass airflow sensor does not just come unplugged.

Wanted to get four things done: Oil change, air filter replacement, brake pads changed out, and new tires put on the rims. Well they dont put tires on rims here, so OK. Those remaining three tasks should be cheap enough. It should be a ~$250 job I think.Well, their inspection noticed that the rotors are worn out and too thin for new brake pads, so theyll need new rotors. Well, OK. Thats more than I expected, but rotors do wear out every 50k - 70k miles on a car, and my car was close to 50k. Sure, whatever. They quoted me $400 in parts and $330 labor for the oil change, air filter replacement, full 4 wheel brake pad set, full 4 wheel rotor set.They charged me $1123 after I was notified that my vehicle was ready to pick up. So, logically, you might feel like youre getting robbed when you go in thinking this should just be a $250, and then that escalates to ~$730, and then ultimately escalates to $1123. The final price was literally off by +50% of the quoted price over the phone that I agreed to; I would NOT have agreed to a $1123 price if that was the price estimate over the phone.And theres no real room to contest that after the bill comes back; the work was already done. You begrudgingly pay and leave never to return.Needed to post this so other concerned La Porte citizens are aware that they arent honoring their estimates, and the final price may be _much_ higher than what your estimate should be. Dont be a fool like myself to trust a local repair shop with your vehicle on routine maintenance tasks; the oil change air filter replacement and brake pad replacement shouldnt have escalated to an $1123 fix.Never again, and I do hope you, the reader, thinks ahead and shops around to get lower estimates and quotes before agreeing to any repair work. Learn from my mistakes from this awful experience.Additionally, get your quotes written on paper, as this is contractual evidence should the repair shop attempt to bleed you out for a much higher cost than you should be paying for. If theyre not willing to get you an estimate in paper or by e-mail, then dont trust anyones word over the phone.Ive also posted the same review on Yelp.

Sorry its so long, but its mainly for the owners to see this is not how you treat customers.ANYWAYS, so we left the business to head to my mothers house (in Deer Park) so I could figure out how I was going to get the money to get my car out.The same woman from the shop calls me at around 6:20PM and tells me shes been thinking about it and that she will give me the car back for the tow IF I can get there in 10 minutes and pay cash.Like I mentioned before I really dont like to argue, its a total waste of time and energy to let peoples rudeness affect you. So, my response was awesome, let me hurry and get it. LUCKILY my brother had that cash on him because we wouldnt have even had time to stop can grab cash. I only had my card. She told me if I didnt get there in time they were going to tow it off the property.We race over there as fast as we can, there is in fact a tow truck there waiting. I go in, pay, say thank you, all while this very rude lady stands there with an attitude acting like I was rude to her. I told her to apologize when she makes mistakes and she said she didnt. It wasnt worth any more debate.My brother and I then open the hood of my car (because it wont start due to it not being in park) and we are going to try and switch the cable into park. She then is yelling at us from across the parking lot something. No one can hear her so I walk over there. She says due to insurance policies she cannot have anyone working on the car in her lot. I tried to explain we arent working on it we just need to flip a switch so we can move the car. She said if the hood is open we are working on the car and we cant do that. So, not trying to argue but to keep the situation moving, I say ok.I walk to the car and tell my brother we cant work on it so he is about to have to help me push my vehicle uphill out of the lot onto a road (mind you its dark out now) that has cars driving 50+mph to the next lot over so we can turn it on.LUCKILY the tow guy had some compassion towards other human beings and he actually came over and flipped the switch quickly for us. She did not stop him for working on the car.So the car turns on and we leave.I get my car to my daughters fathers shop to look at it. La Carporte was ready to charge me a total of $700 to fix this problem. My ex fixed it by just clipping the cable back in place and that was all that was wrong. I didnt even need a new part and it took him no longer than 5 minutes.Not only was there miscommunication on pricing, over pricing, rude attitude towards customers who are just trying to explain their situation, but this lady just plain and simply does not know how to treat another human being.I can forgive everything and I honestly dont pin this on anyone else. The only person who was rude, unsympathetic, and unwilling to work together was this lady.When you make a mistake, apologize. This is how we make the world better, by dropping our egos when we mess up. And even though SHE didnt tell me the wrong information, she made it worse by not tring to be understanding. She was going to tow my car that night to a tow yard! I didnt even have $170 to pay the price she originally asked for. Why would you threaten someone like that??I live in Houston. What if I had headed home already. I would have never made it in 10 minutes. It wasnt that I wasnt going to pay her, but i literally only had the $85 I was informed I needed. So I would have had to scrounge up money today and get it to her, but there was no need to act the way she acted towards someone who wasnt yelling, wasnt trying to pull one on her, wasnt trying to do anything but get my vehicle.AND on top of all that to give me only 10 minutes, expect cash, OR ELSE my car would be towed??? There is no compassion in the actions of this individual and maybe she had a bad day, maybe she was tired, maybe she was dealing with personal issues, I get all of that but there is never ever an excuse to treat someone the way she did.

Bought car from here for $2000 total scam. Gave me bill of sale, Promised me the title never but received it. Car broke down they stole off of highway and had it behind their fence. Contacted police but was told civil mattet needed to get lawyer but I didnt have the money. I was told by another employee that they were selling my belongings out of vehicle..
I normally dont write reviews, good or bad, just because its my time Im giving away for this, however, I have never been treated this way at a car shop before, or any place of business and I feel like it should really be clearly stated.I live in Houston. My car broke down at the La Porte Municipal courthouse. I called a few different places to see about towing it to a nearby shop and running a diagnostic on it. When I called La Carporte a man had answered the phone (I assume it was the own Michael/Mike). I asked him the price for the tow and diagnostic and he informed me that they had a deal with this specific towing company and that he would run the diagnostic for free along with the tow. So, I of course called that specific towing company and had my car towed there.The next day I waited for a call but didnt get one. I wasnt too concerned because I was sure they were working on it. I called them eventually and a man (probably same guy) answered the phone and said they didnt have any results yet. Finally they call me at the end of the day to tell me that the shifting cable had broken and they needed to go to the manufacturer to get that part for my car and the total, including the tow would be $700. I said I needed to call someone (who is my daughters dad, who is also a mechanic) to see what I should do and I would call back.The next day I called back and said I would come in to pick up the car and i would pay for the tow (and diagnostic that I was told was included together). This time I was speaking to a lady.When I came in to get the car this lady informed me that I needed to pay $85 for towing and $95 for diagnostic. I told her I wasnt told that and I only had enough to pay the $85, which is what I was expecting.I am a violin teacher and a gigging violinist. I make money based off of being at appointments and playing shows. I need the car to make my income because I travel all over Houston and the surrounding areas. I was pretty disappointed that the price was much higher and that I wasnt going to be receiving the initial deal that was told to me.I am not the type of person to get angry or yell or be rude. I just calmly tried explaining what I had been told and that was what I had prepared for. She kept telling me over and over the price, that she cant charge me any lower, and thats that basically.I run my own business as a teacher. I deal with customers on an individual basis every single day. I make mistakes too. The thing is I dont expect anyone to be perfect, however when I make a mistake I apologize. If I mis-spoke, even if I didnt mis-speak but just misunderstood, I will still apologize and I NEVER EVER make my customers feel like they are not being heard. This lady was especially rude, not because she wanted me to pay the full price, but because she didnt apologize for miscommunication that happened on HER businesses end. Instead of trying to figure out a solution she didnt listen to what I was saying and she felt as though I was attacking her when I was simply stating what the situation was.I left because I didnt have the money and I was going to have to figure out how to gather that money. I sat in my car and then I thought to maybe ask the guy who I had spoken to. So I went back in there and asked her who it was, she told me it was her husband and that her and her husband own the shop. I said maybe we can call him or ask him because he was the one who told me that. She told me I could come back WEDNESDAY and talk to him. I AM A MUSICIAN. I LITERALLY HAVE A GIG TONIGHT. There is no way I can afford to wait till Wednesday. Then she said she would listen to the recordings and see this weekend. (Which is today). So I said, tomorrow you will listen to the recording? She said no Monday I will. So instead of trying to find a solution she wanted me to wait until Monday or Wednesday to resolve this issue which is totally ludicrous. Especially because I live in Houston. My daughter lives in La Porte half of the week with her dad. I need the vehicle to get to her as well.....
