I honestly think the staff hate people. This place is atrocious. They all have a bad attitude, and they never do anything to help. You always feel like you are an inconvenience to them. The only thing they are good for is getting your medication. They are only slightly good at that. Just push through one or two more visits until you find an acceptable mental health facility.
This is officially the first bad review I’ve given. I have so many points to make I don’t know if there is enough room here. To begin, good luck getting ahold of anyone here. Average wait time to get through is about 15-20 minutes until someone answers. This is the average after many years of using them. We HAD to be referred here from the hospital which is the only reason we’ve stayed this long, but we are officially going to go elsewhere because it’s not getting better. We were 5-10 minutes late to an appointment once and the psychologist left for the day. This was an important appt for meds for my daughter. We’ve had appt scheduling conflicts, the front desk people never seem to know what is going on. They even sent us to collections before for “unpaid bills” when they were sending the bills to the wrong address without once thinking to call and ask us what is up- or ask us in person when we were there for multiple appointments. We didn’t know we were missing out on any bills at all. Do not go here unless you absolutely have to. I genuinely do not understand how they are running at all.
They are using electromagnétic sound waves and radio frequincys sound waves to be able to comunicate with you they are part of the voices and sounds of you are hearing them..i have no reason to lie. They are involved in reading peoples thoughts!! I have proof check me out on utube vídeos dont lie.
I was there this morning i seen mona a therapist as soon as I asked her to look at something witch was a photos she told me NO!!! Quilty of hidding the truth about corruptionin the mental health here in knoxville tennessee
I have had such a great experience with Peninsula. My therapist was wonderful and my meds doctor Jeremy Mills is the best. He’s so kind and considerate and very good with explaining medications and how they work for me. I would refer my friends and family to this clinic any time. I finally feel like I’m getting the help I’ve needed all my life.
Negative stars if I could. I was completely neglected. Waited 4 days to speak to John Kupfner MD IN THE HALLWAY with everyone around- for less than 3 minutes, just so he could say I could call myself a ride home... which Im pretty sure should be illegal/malpractice. The mental health system is completely messed up in Tennessee- as most of the US.
Worst place to go if you need some thearpy fast ive been waiting for months to talk to someone but i just get put on hold for almost an hour how can youtake care of people if you cant pick up a damn phone thanks to you guys i am about to have to go to court over my probation. thanks for waisting my time.
I Recently moved here and waited months to see a psychiatrist for meds. when I finally did, I didn’t get the meds I wanted. I was treated like a child or an addict or maybe the doctor just doesn’t like prescribing medication that actually works because it’s a control substance?? But simply refuses to give me meds I’ve had in the past. So, after going through life crisis and upcoming stressful holiday events and travel I have to find someone where else. Infuriating!! Don’t waste your time and money with this place. You won’t get help.
I seem to be having an issue getting my anxiety medication. i missed my doctors appointment because its set up over the phone and i had changed my number and forgot to update it with them. I called In The middle of September have an appointment until the end of the month In October. So I told them i was needing a refill on my buspirone. When i went to fill it Walgreens states that they only sent in a request for my Sertraline and I received a message from Peninsula stating they verified my buspirone is on file at Walgreens and sent the sertraline in for a refill. I called back to tell them walgreens is stating i dont have a refill on my buspirone and after the long hold I got hung up on . I am looking for another doctor but like everyone else concerned about my insurance not paying. I am currently weaning myself off the sertraline and completely out of my buspirone which im kinda concerned about. I just feel like Walgreens and Peninsula are pointing fingers at each other instead of helping me find the issue and resolve it. But oh well its just peoples mental health what does that matter.
They never answer their phones
I have been going to this joke of a mental health clinic for 3 years. They have changed every medicine I’m on every one to two months and then the doctors don’t know what to do if it’s a harder case to deal with than take lithium and a depression medicine. The state should do something about this place and close the doors. I bet there success rate to stop suicide prevention is 40/60. I know that’s how they make it for me any ways.
In an area where mental health resources are in high demand and need, we have a joke of a system. Penninsula is just another name on the list of poor resources. I can never get through the phone lines to ask for a refill or schedule an appointment and generally have to wait an hour at least for our appointments. My 10year old son needs actual help, not a doctor who just signs a script and calls out of work so often we can never even get an appointment. So disappointing. When he was in crisis, penninsula inpatient told us they didnt believe he was actually behaving the way we said he was. And inpatient care was a JOKE. Family counseling meant us saying we loved each other and signing a paper saying we would be nice to each other. Our adopted/trauma population needs help, and this aint it folks.
I have been going here for over a year and have had no major issues. Pharmacy has always answered the phone when I have called. Everyone I have come in contact with at this facility has always been friendly. I see so many negative reviews. Nothing is perfect.
Very attentive and on time. Pleased.
This place is a joke. They only take Medicare patients on Mondays so it took a month to get in . Then they tell you first visit is 3-4 hours. Makes no sense at all. Sat there for 1 1/2 hrs before the first person called me back to get my history/problem recorded. Sat there for another got hour when the nurse called me back to get my vitals/health history. Been telling these people I needed a diagnosis letter. Sat there until the last 1/2 hour of the 4 were up when doc called me back. Talked about 10 minutes. Wanted to up my current medication. Told him I needed the confirmation/diagnosis letter for my PCP. The doc wrote on my exit/discharge paper for the letter, the diagnosis & my PCP name. Got to the desk & refused to give me my letter which rose my anxiety level. Said it takes 2 weeks. I told them that was unacceptable. Anyway, after lots of complaining they agreed to give to me the next day which I said was fine that my appt that I needed the letter for wasnt until 2. Started calling at 10. No letter, no call throughout the day. Called at 12:50 . no letter. By this time my anxiety level is sky high & getting very angry. Told them I was coming down. Said a few loud words & made the comment I was never coming back. They caused my anxiety levels to skyrocket for something so stupid.
This is the worst place. Do not go there unless you absolutely have to. Every time I go my prescriptions get messed up, don’t get called in. They do not respond to call about refills. Your refills don’t last until your next appointment. They just don’t care. The only reason I am there is due to my insurance. You are basically cattle there.
I love them, they are really nice. Once I missed a appointment with my Med doctor and they were able to get me in. And I love how they work with you to help you get better and not just fix you with Meds. And they make you talk to your Therapist to get to the bottom of your illness. I was so tried of Medical treatment that just drug you up so all you do is sleep. I Recommend this facility.
What an absolute joke of a practice. They said the 1st appointment takes 3 hours. They implied that was because you talk to 3 different people, which sounds like they are really concerned. Nope, thats the wait time before seeing anyone. These people dont care about you, dont respect you, dont even see you as human. You are better off asking random strangers for psychiatric advise. Please choose anyone else.
I have been coming to this office for well over a year now and the only two problems I’ve ever faced was a medication mix-up (communication error) and scheduling (as they are always busy) neither of which can completely be held against them. I always receive my calls, medication, and am seen promptly. I have to give a shout out to Tony Elkins for always being patient & having a smile, friendly receptionists and friendly/prompt pharmacy. I will continue to bring my business to this business and I appreciate all of you who work tirelessly to help those of us with mental issues/anxiety. Thank you for all that you do!
Appallingly long wait times on phones. Rescheduling appointments is a nightmare. Pharmacy fails to notify patients that medication is lated being filled, so patients will make trips out there only to not have meds. Psychiatrists refuse to consider prescribing certain medications without testing, but do not provide in-clinic tests covered by insurance. They also do not take the documentation of these meds from former psychiatrists for the patient, meaning I no longer have access to ADHD medication an have to take a $500 test to be considered eligible for it again. They will warn you that the first appointment will take several hours for processing. I ended up sitting there almost four hours. I brought things to do but when I was told it would take a long time I assumed it would be intake tests, not sitting in the lobby for hours. The actual intake itself took about 1 hour.Disaster of a place. Will be transitioning docs as soon as I can.
You are told over the phone that you see 3 different people during your visit and that the appt takes 3 hours. What they don’t tell you is that they bill your insurance for those 3 people so I had TWO copays for one visit! Despite having an appointment, I still waited a long time to be seen. The 3 hours is mostly sitting in the waiting room: 20 mins with the therapist, less than 10 mins with nurse and 10 minutes with doctor. The rest is sitting in the waiting room which is gross and there were so many people in there coughing, gagging, sneezing, being disruptive, etc. After you see each person, you go right back to the same gross waiting room. The therapist was very nice but the doctor was very short. Despite me telling her what didn’t work in the past she prescribed one of those meds. She said they would be filled there but she nor anyone else told me when they would be ready, where their pharmacy was, etc. She didn’t even address the reasons I told her I was there. I just walked out and never picked up the meds. Based on my experience and the fact that most of the people in the waiting room looked like they were all in bad shape, I think this place is just get em in and out. I would never go back!
I missed my appointment. My meds run out tomorrow. Called & they said doctors are cracking down on calling in prescriptions. Said earliest appointment was 6 days from now. I have to do without my antidepressant medications for 5 days. People have killed themselves without their medications before. In a round about way the doctors are cracking down on people staying alive. Find a different place to go.
I have a feeling the moment I say that Ive never had an issue Ill have one but this place has never done me wrong. Ive been going for over a year and any issue I have they do their best to help
I’ve been taking my son there for 5-6 years id not longer and I’ve never had an issue. His doctor is amazing. Keeps up with making sure I get his blood work done and makes sure his medicine is right for him every 3 months. It is hard sometimes to get an appointment if you cancel but I don’t miss many so it’s not a huge concern. I do wish the pharmacy had at least short hours on a Saturday bc there’s been a lot of times my sons insurance won’t pay for his meds until the day before and some times he runs out on a Sunday. Or even a Monday which leaves him going to school without his meds. But I trust them with my son so the little inconveniences seem worth it.
My sister is currently in Peninsula’s Behavioral Health, she has contracted head lice. The nurse is refusing treatment. There is no security. It’s a dangerous facility, worst in Knoxville.
My daughter was treated like she was stupid, it was incredibly difficult to get her meds on time and if she got sick (like children do) and missed an appointment getting someone to call me back to call her meds in was a virtual miracle! I put up with that nonsense for 4 months and took her to Dr John Robertson hes AMAZING!
Just moved here a few months ago from Texas. So far this has been a terrible experience dealing with this group
They put me on 3 meds then a couple months ago i had to be rushed to the hospital because praipism occured. I almost had to get emergency surgery. Then to discover all 3 meds had a 25 percent chance of getting that
Doctors dont listen to you and give you meds that arent even related to what you say is wrong with you, meds that dont remotely help in any way whatsoever. Its sad to think its the only place my insurance will cover and so its where Im stuck going.
If you have any other options take them instead.
