Very fair prices. Highly recommended by my boss. Very happy with their work. Jeff in the office super friendly. Definitely having my friends go there.
Expect friendliness & kindness at the desk and good work from the shop. I thought I’d have to say goodbye to a 20 yr old multi-generational S10 but these guys gave me back an excellent running truck. Great job guys!
Jeff is a very nice man. Fair pricing and on time.
Fare prices and always pleasant service.
They did good work on my car with a quick turn around.
The only place to take your auto have taken and recommended to go there to everyone they do execelllent work at a Great price and dont try to rob you like other places. Jeff the owner is Supper Nice to all.
They literally held my car for three weeks and then hook the cheap scanner to it and wrote the codes down on a piece of paper, they did absolutely nothing........ but holding my car hostage for three weeks.
They do great work and go the extra mile for their customers.
Great people to deal with all the time.
Ive been a customer for years..they are professional and trustworthy..they take care of my vehicle from oil changes to major repairs and I can count on them to do quality work!
I call them and ask them for an estimate they said they would call me back and they never did at this point I would never do business with them
I wouldnt refer no one their I went in to get a water pump and timing belt and motor mounts and paid over 2,000 and they messed my car up an want money no
They were very accomodating and I knew exactly what my bill was before I got there. Great communication.
I love there work very nice and reasonable
Been having issues with my Miata lately and these guys have come through! Everyone I have spoken to has been extremely nice especially Jeff. One of the fixes didn’t work when I first came to them and they immediately looked at the issue and actually fixed it the second time at no extra charge! These are some straight up dudes and I will continue go to them for my car troubles.
Very knowledgeable staff and incredible service. They helped me out and didnt charge me an arm and a leg to fix my car!
These guys did an excellent job after my car got broken on my way to Houston. Luckily it was close to them. They fixed the issue quickly and I was able to finish my trip without any problems. Excellent customer service and very affordable, would definitely recommend!!
Thank you so much. I stopped by yesterday morning and they did a great job which saved my money and time. I’m from Connecticut and we just came to visit our family here. People here are very lucky to having this great repair shop.
Very professional and theyre expertise is on point
These guys always do me right, and their rates are very fair.
This is the only auto repair shop I will use in Knoxville. They have a shuttle to get you to and from work while your car is being repaired which is a huge plus. The service is high quality and they really put a lot of effort into making sure they check absolutely everything and give you fair warning of upcoming issues you may have. Best of all, the staff is patient, friendly, and honest. They dont just tell you whats wrong and how much the fix will cost; they take the time to explain the function of the vehicle and how your vehicles issue affects your vehicles performance. Two tips, though...drop off your vehicle as early as possible in the morning and try to make an appointment for drop-off. The high quality service keeps this place packed.
I had my first visit recently and was completely amazed at how wonderful the service and people are! I was there for a while so I got to see a lot of interaction with customers and the people here are so kind, caring, and knowledgeable. There is a sense of goodness and honesty here that I havent experienced at any other shop such as this. Will definitely be a lifetime customer!
I started my relationship with RT Clapp in 2003, when they quoted a waterpump replacement on a 1998 Chevy G20 Conversion Van at $435, including labor, when local chevy dealers were quoting upwards of $700.00. The pump worked marvelously, and the owner/operator was courteous and explained the steps for that replacement. Ive been back many, many times over the pas 17 years. Jeff H. & Bill are really great guys. Bill has retired, this year (2020). Jeff and his son are still there, and they just quoted me a motor-mount replacement at 1/2 cost that another shop quoted. $482 vs. RT Clapps $206.18. Theyve struts, brakes, timing belts, rear wheel-bearings, CV joints on my cars, and Ive not been disappointed, yet. Ive used their shuttle-to-work program many times, which is an added plus for me! Looking forward to continuing my relationship with them!
Friendly and afforable, my car has never ran this good :) i wish i could rate higher than 5🌟
Great place to take your car.very friendly people.
Excellent!
Ripoff and very rude - they charged me an hour and a half shop labor without saying there would be a charge just to look at it. When I told them they should tell people that upfront the owner cussed me out and threatened to close the shop and keep my vehicle locked up all weekend so I paid. I then went to a second shop who came back with the same diagnosis in less than 10 minutes and didnt charge me a dime. Thats where I take my business now(not naming other place because this is not a review for them). RT Clapp is RT Clapp in name only. Not the original owners anymore and it shows. Im not going to say anything about their work.....just get pricing in writing before you give them your keys.
Everyone that I have come in contact with at RT Clapp has been amazingly helpful and VERY HONEST! I cant say that has been true about every auto place that Ive dealt with. As a single woman without much knowledge about cars or their parts it is great to have a business like this in town. Thank you to Sam & everyone else at RT Clapp. Yall are the best!
Great place to take your car.
Great service great prices.
Went here because it was close to my house and it was a blessing to find this place. They worked on my car and fixed it in a timely manner and didnt break my bank!! This is deff my new car shop and i for sure recommend!!
I found R. T. Clapp listed as a recommended service station on the CarTalk website. These guys provide fast, friendly service with at affordable prices and without shenanigans. They went above and beyond the call fixing several issues with my car, and still charged $200 less than I was quoted by a nearby competitor. Highly recommended!
Not real sure about their mechanical abilities. Stopped in to get some air in my tire and was given a bit of helpful advice unsolicited. I appreciated that.
I called here to see about car repairs and i was told they charge 44 to 80 just to see whats wrong with my car that dont include repairs. This is unethical and a rip off this business must be starving for money dont waste your time or money.
They dont rip you off or lie. honest and sorta famous!
We have been taking our cars to RT Clapp for many years with various cars. They are honest, reasonable, and proficient at repairing any problem. We highly recommend them.
These guys get your car problems solved. They go the extra mile in service, checking filters, lights and other thing you might have missed. And they offer prices and call to confirm any extra work or expensive repairs. Good people.
Very disappointed with this place
Honest mechanics, fair prices, cant ask for better service. 10/10, highly recommend!
Ive been bringing my vechile and company vehicles for years. These guys are honest, do quality work, and have very fair pricing. I recommend them to all my friends.
Great place good mechanics
Friendly knowledgeable staff. Excellent service. Great place for all your automotive service.
Bought a 2001 Subaru outback from a reputable dealer, took the car on a trip 800 miles to test the car, no issues, no lights, no weird noises. But I wanted to get it checked out by a mechanic after the trip and I was referred by a good friend. The staff were friendly and helpful while my car was there, I thought for sure Id found a good mechanic. They gave me a list of things my car needed at the end of the check up, and I had a few small things done (air filter and new radiator cap) and scheduled service for the one big thing (my rear bushings)The next day my check engine light turns on. With having literally just left the mechanic and no immediate issues (according to them) I assumed it was a loose gas cap, which can cause the light to turn on. A few days later, it begins to overheat in about 10 minutes of driving. So I check it out and there is NO coolant in my car at all, none in the overflow or the radiator. I fill it and try to drive again with the same result so I check the hoses going to and from my radiator to find a obviously bad hose leaking the new coolant. I replaced the hose and filled the radiator only to find a new crack in my radiator at the top right beside the radiator cap. Which was probably from running the engine without any coolant and overheating. These things tell me that one of these things happened.1. That they did not check the fluids in my car when the did the inspection.2. They did not see the, not hidden, obviously busted hose while the car was lifted in the shop.3. They did see those things and did not inform me of or fix the immediate issue.Perhaps with the hope that something would happen and they would get more business from me out of it.For example:- fix the hose and put coolant in the car - $30 and 15 mins (I did this myself).- Install a new radiator -$500-$1000(Their Quote. 160$-autozone and the help of YouTube, I did this myself).I will not recommend RT Clap for anyone.
An east Knoxville institution. Great place to take your car.
Great auto shop! They do good work at a fair price. Very friendly.
Sold a 2001 Subaru Outback to a friend knowing Id just installed new OEM Subaru axles, new front brake pads, new rotors, steering rack boots, ball joints. . .the works. Driving it home he noticed a vibration at speed, suggested he take it in for tire balance. He took it here. They come back with a 4-digit estimate for new axles, new calipers, new front pads and a host of other stuff that had already been replaced. No idea if they didnt bother to put it on the rack or even pulled a tire to check balance but obviously they were just going for a big ticket service and a shotgun repair (none of which would have helped if they didnt bother to balance the tires). Took it elsewhere, balanced the tires, all good.
They can be a little pricey and dont do any aftermarket work but theres some good guys and know about all cars.
Great guys, gave me a detailed explanation of what was wrong, they recommnded a few things but werent pushy about it, work was done quickly at a fair price. Im new to the area and am happy to have found them.
Always freindly and helpful! They have always kept me updated on repairs and never have done anything without a price quote and my authorization. I highly recomend them!
Open and honest. What more can you ask for in a mechanic? Would recommend.
Great
The most honest place in town and affordable.
Took my car in for an oil change and 4 days later no oil in the car, engine cylinder broken and they have the nerve to try and charge me for repairs, do not take your car there they will rip you off and take no responsibility for tearing your car up. Awful people.
Great service! Friendly staff and prices arent outrageous!
They charged me a pretty penny an didnt even take a look to see if there was anything else wrong for ex i got my transmission repaired but they could have caped the fluids an checked the breaklites
Great place to go and they are reasonable with prices
RTC took care of my 24 year old Corolla and other cars for the past 10+ years. They have always done right by me.
Their prices are a bit steep in my opinion, but they are very professional and provide pickup and dropoff service for their customers. Thats a huge benefit.
Would not install a Dealer supplied Shift cable cause I didnt buy it from them.
They had my car fixed quickly. I couldnt ask for better service
I have used R T Clapp in Oak Ridge without any issues or complaints, those guys take care of you. I cant say the same for this place unfortunately. Maybe they need to be reminded of the company culture they are trying to foster.I needed a very simple thing, a new tire mounted on a rim. I called and spoke to a man on the phone who quoted it for me. I asked him to order the tire, and I would show up sometime that week to have it put on. Unfortunately I got busy until Friday, so I called and asked if it were possible to perform the work that day.Understandably, they were busy, as this was the Friday before Labor Day Weekend. The same man on the phone kept insisting that if I show up and am patient they might be able to get to it. I explicitly told this man it is Friday before Labor Day Weekend and I have several other matters to attend to. I asked if I could simply pick up the tire, in hopes I might be able to find another shop over the weekend (this place is closed weekends). He said yes, come grab the tire, although they dont usually let people do that. I thanked him for being flexible and hung up the phone.I pull into the lot, go to the counter, and tell them my name. The gentleman I spoke with on the phone then begins to answer questions from his boss on the other side of the wall, questions regarding me. Is this other man the Wizard of Oz or something? Why cant he speak to his customers directly? The man at the desk, formerly the man on the phone, then proceeds to ask for my personal information so that he may finger type it into his computer (he is an older man). Some things to consider:1) I had already told this man I had several other matters to attend to that afternoon. Why couldnt he have taken this information on the phone?2) Why does he need all of my personal info to sell me a tire? R T Clapp in Oak Ridge didnt need any prying information to perform work on my car.3) The guy working the desk said if I waited patiently they might be able to mount my tire. The very suggestion of this put a bad taste in my mouth. In conclusion, do not waste your customers time. These guys could have made a few bucks off of me, but I would pay the same price or less just to order it off Amazon. I will then take this tire to a shop that will not attempt to jerk me around by the collar, maybe their Oak Ridge location! Also, a real man gives a definitive answer to things. Either you can perform the work on my car that day or you cannot. There is none of this BS about waiting around and maybe getting to it. A little bit of assertiveness would have been nice here.
They know their stuff here! However, plan to pay for them knowing their stuff.
My car broke down.called rt clap they said they could fix it.cost me 75.00 to have it towed there.then they called me and said they could not fix it.cost me 80.00 to have it towed home.my 17 year old grandson fixed it for me.
Used them twice so far for major repairs to my van and they got it fixed up right.
Always courteous and good prices.
