It’s hard to put our experience in writing, but it was truly top notch. With two young kids, we were apprehensive to go out on the water, but Brandon catered the entire trip to their adventure level. Moments after pulling into the water an entire pod of dolphins was racing in front of our boat. It was as if we had paid for an exclusive dolphin excursion. Next, we mentioned our desire to see a sea turtle and Brandon did not disappoint. Moments later, we were swimming with a lager-head. Our day on the water was truly straight out of a dream. Brandon was patient, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. We’re looking forward to our next adventure with Fun in the Sun, soon.

Our experience was absolutely wonderful. We had four adults looking for a relaxing boat trip with some adventure. Captain Brandon was full of interesting knowledge and exceeded all of our expectations. We had a few members of our group that wanted to go fishing and we were not disappointed with our fishing trip. We then went to a beautiful sandbar to enjoy the water and the beautiful scenery. Brandon did an amazing job ensuring our group spent time being able to enjoy each of our requested activities and even surprising us with interesting locations. Our day on the water was straight out of a book. Brandon was nice, patient, and very knowledgeable and listened to all four of our requests. We are looking forward to returning to Key West and booking another adventure with Fun in the Sun soon!

Had an awesome time, our experience was great. We are a family of six with our youngest being 11 there was something for everyone on this tour. Our tour guide was great, made sure we had an awesome time and remembered all of our names! Would highly recommend to anyone!

Brandon was wonderful! We did a little bit of everything. Snorkeling we saw beautiful fish of all sizes and types, lots of different types of coral. We went to two sandbars that were beautiful and calming. Then my husband, an avid fisherman brought home dinner! The day was a highlight of our trip and we highly recommend!

So happy we went with this place! We picked them because they are close to Boyds, where we were staying. If we return to KW, this is where we will rent again. Took a few days to get a boat, but they have your best interests and safety in mind. These people will take care of you, not rip you off, and make sure you have a great day. This was THE BEST time we had in key west. For $600 we took a private charter with Carlos. He was pleasant and knowledgeable. Snorkeling on our own then to a sandbar. Very relaxing day. Thanks!

Can’t recommend these guys any higher. We had a wonderful afternoon cruising around and visited one of the most gorgeous beaches I’ve ever been to. My kids loved splashing around and my wife and I enjoyed the walk on the beach and seeing small lemon sharks. Brandon was our captain and he was fabulous. He hooked us up with some snorkeling gear and my son and I chased a couple of 4 to 5 foot lemon sharks that were so tame. We got within a few feet. He even took us to a great little spot where we caught a baby lemon shark and got great pictures. Totally worth spending the afternoon with them. Boat was roomy for our family of five.

My wife and I were looking for something to do in Key West for a half day before we left town and stumbled on Fun In The Sun. Sean and Josh were fun and professional. Check-in was quick and our 20’ pontoon boat was like brand new. They advised us against going on the ocean side due to a southeast wind. Not only was that perfect advice, but our trip on the backside of the island proved to be much more fun! The boys gave us directions to some beautiful sand bars and the boat’s GPS made the trip a breeze. We saw rays, sharks, and barracudas, and had a wonderful day. We will definitely be back and have already recommended them to friends.

Best place to rent boats in Key West! We’ve been renting boats from Shon for years... Only rental company we’ll use!! Boats are always clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. They’re located in a beautiful marina with super quick access to the reef or get to the beaches in the back country just as easy! Couldn’t ask for a better crew.

Rented the Hurricane today. Perfect experience! Shon was great. He reviewed the boat with us, asked where we were interested in going, and plotted the perfect float plan for us. Ive rented from Shawn several times and this is the best service, best fun we have ever had in key west. I cannot recommended them more. They are amazing! Very responsive and gave us clear direction on how to get to the boat. Then we had the 30 ft pontoon for the day and and they stocked us up with ice and gave us a GPS with directions to the best sand bar in key west. We truly had a great relaxing day and always felt safe. These guys are class act and I highly recommend it for your best time ever in key west!

Ive used a few different boat rental companies with my family down in key west. Fun in the Sun was by far the smoothest and best experience. Great launch spot close to heart of key west, nice gated marina with ample signs and parking and even a cafe for any last minute drinks, snacks etc you may needCaptain came prepared with waters and ice, even offered and brought some snorkeling gear and fishing for us too. Rented two boats for a half day. Service and communication was excellent.

My wife and I went out on a half day trip, with dan. Amazing experience. I would recommend this company to anyone. We wanted to fish and lay about on a sandbar. On our way to fish we saw a handful of sea turtles. We caught a handful of small fish right off the bat. Then I caught a huge barracuda. The fight was fun and challenging until half of it was bitten off by a reef shark. The half I pulled up was close to 30lbs. Before heading to the sand bar we watched the shark come up and eat the rest of my catch. On the way to the sandbar we spotted and were able to interact with some dolphins and also watched a bunch of turtles coming up for air and swimming around. Which was cool. At the sandbar we had a baby bonnet head shark cruise around us to check us out.Definitely worth it. By far my favorite day trip on the keys.

Incredible business, used twice in a few years with same awesome service both times for golf cart rentals.

I had a reservation for a golf cart for 9 days and a boat for 4 days....a tropical depression came through so we only got 1 day of boating but it was a blast! Sean the owner was very easy to work with and answered any question I had whether it pertained to his rentals or key west in general! Whether it be golf carts or boat rentals Sean is the man and Fun in the sun charters is the place to find it!

Highly recommend Fun in the Sun Boat rental. Had a wonderful day with my wife and 3 kids. We rented the 28ft deck boat for the day. Owner, Shawn, was extremely helpful setting us up with a full days worth of spots to visit . He went above and beyond to cater the trip to my family’s wants and made sure to set the coordinates into my phone and the boats navigation center. All his recommendations were spot on. The boat was clean and ran great. I can’t wait to come back and rent from Fun in the Sun.

Great experience renting from Shon and his crew. As experienced boaters we could certainly understand his somewhat jaded view of inexperience, immature renters who show up, don’t listen and damage his boats. He was very helpful, gave us good information on where to go and even gave us a little more time because we didn’t leave until 9:20. If you know how to handle a boat and want to get out on the water in the Keys these guys are perfect.

I did not realize that I forgot to cancel my cart reservation when I cancelled my trip until the manager contacted me to ask when I wanted the cart dropped off. I was told that I would be charged for week (I agree with this, it was my fault) but any days they could book, would be refunded. I apologized again and agreed that was more than fair. A few hours later, I received a text saying most of my days were booked and I would be refunded for those days. This company is honest! They could have double dipped, but did not. They have great communication and do what is best for the customer not their bottom line. I would pay more for a product from a company that is honest than trying to save a few bucks.

We chartered a boat for the day and had such a great time that we booked another day later in the week. Shon was awesome and easy to work with. He recommended several destinations that were easy to find thanks to the preloaded routes in the GPS. Well definitely use Fun in the Sun Charters & Boats again on our next trip to the Keys.

We went with the 6 hour charter and highly recommend that time frame. Gives you time to do a ton of activities and not feel rushed whatsoever. Very, very relaxing day snorkeling, relaxing at hidden mangrove coves and beaches, and fishing. By far one of the best charters for the price we have done. Great communication and activity information. Key West Harbour facility was perfect after a day on the water... Access is included with pool, showers, and restaurant. We chartered 2 boats for our party of 10 adults to kick off our Key West Vacation and had a wonderful experience.Our two Captains were Dan and Jack they were amazing supper fun and knowledgeable of the multiple areas we traveled to.Our first stop was to this sandbar surrounded by mangroves, which was nice and secluded. We spent the majority of our time here exploring the area. Closer to the end of our charter, we decided to extend the day and went to a couple more spots were we encountered manatees, sting rays, baby bonnethead shark and on our way back to shore we encountered a pod of dolphins feeding! It was the most amazing site and such an eventful day!

Awesome day on the water with the 30ft double decker pontoon boat. The boat was well maintained. They provided ice and even a bogeyboard on the boat. Owner was really helpful when a storm developed with a ride to a nearby restaurant. Would definitely use them again!!

Rented the 22FT Sea Chaser flats boat and pricing is fair. However, I believe the company should have cancelled out boat for the day as a 22ft flats boat does not belong in 4ft rollers in the Atlantic. I personally hold a captains license and conduct rescues for a living. Our boat did not belong out in the water that day. However, the renter has limited ability to cancel the day of and not get refunded or risk it anyways. Both Atlantic and Gulf had approximate 4ft seas and a 20mph east wind, to include a small-craft advisor and company still wanted to send people out. GPS did not work on-board so we used Navionics App. Luckily I do this for a living so navigation was easy. Vessel would not plane with 4 on board, equally distributed weight at 4K RPM and began feeling like it was being pulled back despite a clean prop. Returned after about 3 hours of our 8 hours rental due to conditions and equipment. Employee was kind enough to cover gas. Honestly disappointed that it comes down to cancelling without refund or risking it and hoping for the best just to get some moneys worth out of it.***In response to the company**One hour after we returned the small craft was placed into effect. As you confirmed the GPS was not working and we had to use the Navionics app like I stated. Conditions were no better at the time we took the boat out opposed to the time we returned. Your policy clearly states refunds less than a week will not be refunded. So we did try to make the best of it and see if it was any better. You are correct, I did mention the issue when we returned as either way the vessel would have to be brought back as I would not continue to operate a vessel I was having issues with, that would be the responsible thing to do. Immediately turning off an engine while exiting the channel to the Atlantic in those conditions would most definitely place that vessel and everyone on board into a potentially dangerous situation. What is concerning is that you have to take the Atlantic to reach the Gulf, where that vessel did not belong between seas, wind and inclement weather. Based off your reply nothing I have stated in my review was incorrect.

We looked around at a few places to rent a golf cart and found the best price here. Nice clean area to pick it up at and have parking there for you if you need to leave your car. Owner was nice and prompt on his times. Would definitely recommend this place to rent a cart. They also have boats too.

Our family of four (all adults) had a great time with Captain Dan! We visited several sand bars and remote areas with mangroves. We swam and snorkeled feet away from fish, stingrays and sharks. We would recommend Fun in the Sun to anyone & for sure recommend getting a chartered boat so you can find all the awesome spots!

If youre going to Key West, you HAVE to have a day on the water. Thats the only way to truly experience all of the Islands and their beauty. We chose a guided tour so that we could really relax and enjoy the ride. Raymond was extremely helpful and also very knowledgeable about the islands. Because hes a local, he was able to show us special spots that only the locals are aware of. We had such a great time and are looking forward to the next. This is a great locally owned and operated business and we will definitely be using their services in the future.

Had a group of 10 adults on the double decker pontoon boat. Sean was always responsive and great to work with. He helped us navigate the gulf side waters with ease and gave us great locations to anchor up and enjoy. We all had a fantastic time. The whole experience could not have been better. This is the fourth time I have rented from Fun in The Sun, and I have never been disappointed. Shon is a friendly and professional guy that runs a great business. Rented a boat, upon getting there provided all of my credentials, made a left turn to drive the boat towards the lagoon, the owner pulls up yelling and cursing at me for making A wrong turn. Let me be clear in that I am legally licensed to operate up to a 49 ft vessel in Florida. Upon meeting the owner his first words were “are you going to mess my boat up?” Subsequently chasing us as soon as we took the boat out. Our day was completelyRuined and we had to walk a mile to a cab because of how hard to access the marina is. The most horrid customer service I have ever seen or experienced just because the owner was in a bad mood from a previous rental unrelated to me. Ended up returning the boat immediately as I will not be demeaned by someone who has me as a client.

Not really impressed with this company. I arranged for a private charter with the specific intention of going snorkeling and was not told until we arrived to the marina that the conditions were not good enough for snorkeling. The captain was nice enough and took us on a fishing trip instead (our second choice of activity) but I felt taken advantage of to be honest! Also just FYI, their marina is a bit of a drive out of downtown Key West.

Rented a boat for a full day and was out 3-4 hours. The attendant punched in spots on google maps and said not to use GPS. He also said the tide was rising which is was not. There were very few markers and on the way back in I missed the channel and got stuck. Completely my fault. I called and informed Shawn and he said I would have to either push it off or wait. I called SeaTow to use my membership before he showed up to assist. He pulled us off then proceeded to charge us $250 for the ungrounded and $100 for wear and tear. I’ve boated for 30 + years and there was NO wear and tear as evidenced from the before and after pictures. He was extremely rude and said I should have USED the GPS. I would not recommend Fun in the Sun and would advise avoiding them all together.

Horrible experience. I WOULDNT RECOMMEND wasting your time or money. Owner is rude, impatient and was disrespectful to our group based on experience he had that morning. His first words to us we’re “are y’all gonna mess up my boat?”. We didn’t even make it 100 yards out before he chased us down to say, “never mind I don’t want to deal with this”. Worst customer experience I have ever been apart.

I have been on various charters before. I have had good, bad and average captains. Captain Shon is beyond excellent!!! He is very knowledgeable of the sea and very knowledgeable of the fish. Especially of all the spots private and public if you want to join the party somewhere. He accommodated everyone on the boat so that everyone felt comfortable and safe, our kids loved him! We will definitely use Fun In The Sun Charters again!

Charter Boat ReviewRented a 21’ Boat on July 15-16, 2018. There was lots of variety in the boats to pick from and the quality of the boat we selected was excellent. The staff and Shon were incredibly helpful and willing to share information on the best places to go out on the water. He was willing to even mark the appropriate route to my destination(s) on my phone’s Google Maps. His assistance in telling me exactly where to go helped immensely.The water in Key West is tricky to navigate. It’s very shallow and you must be able to find the channels to successfully get around. There are very few markers in the water and often you’re operating in 2-3 ft of water. Renting a boat without a captain familiar with the area does require having a bit of skills beforehand; both in boat operation and navigation. It’s not as simple as grab the boat and go figure it out on the water. I saw other people picking up boats who would grow frustrated with the extra assistance, but they clearly didn’t know what they were in for and I’m confident they later found themselves having run aground which is terrible for the boats as well as the marine life.

I Rented a boat for my family this summer. Shon was extremely helpful and and showed them the local waters on a map before they left the dock. Navigating the keys can be difficult with all the shallow water. They had a great day and didn’t hit any shallow areas Bc of shons help! Thanks for the great day!

This is an excellent Boat Rental company and they are perfectly positioned in Stock Island! The marina is clean and the staff was welcoming all four days I used the vessel. The vessel it itself (23 sea craft) was well equipped with saftey equipment and navigation. I would definitely recommend renting their boats especially if you are diving off the reefs, the marina has an access channel to the offshore reefs!

Hi there I just had the very nice owner/agent of the Fun in the Sun drop me any my partner off at the airport and wanted to take a moment to thank him for his going the extra mile literally, to provide great service. We rented a golf cart which was nice and new, at a price that was about $100 less than renting it near Duval street (we had seen someone driving one with his logo and noted the phone #). We were in luck because they had exactly one left. He took the time to explain to us newbies how to operate the unit and was patient just generally easy to work with. He gave us a ride to the airport, which saved us a $20 Uber. Based on this very positive experience and high level of service I would definitely look to them FIRST for boat rentals/charters upon our return. Thanks so much Fun in the Sun!

Be vary wary of renting a boat/vessel from this company or specifically Shon. While everything seemed good at first we have never had such a poor experience with any other boat rental we have had in the past. First the boat was ok, but a lot of other rental companies have more up to date vessels and seem to be in better condition, but over all not bad. Initial communication was ok, but he was back and forth on price since I found him on an app, he told me he just needs to make a $400 profit from the rental, and when I booked with him directly it ended up over $500... again not the end of the world, the experience was worth it. Shon is very OCD and wants you to do everything his way or he will call you and be condescending and tell you everything you are doing wrong according to him. He made our party so uncomfortable that we ended our boating 3 hours early just to be done with him. He tells you that you are not operating the equipment to their standards and they are concerned with the safety of the equipment and the passengers to try to justify his position. With 4 adults and 3 children at NO time would we ever let their be safety concerns arise for our family. We rented the boat so we could site see and enjoy the views of the keys. This company made this experience cumbersome and a terrible experience. I would NOT recommend putting yourself through an experience with them. If you would like to see the chain of text messages between myself and Shon I will be more than happy to share them.****update**** after repeated text messages from this business owner it is astonishing what he believes to be factual after asking me if I was on drugs and numerous other attempted personal attacks. We had 8 people on board who will all confirm that there was never any danger nor any run ashore as this guy has blatantly mis represented and if you read previous review as this guy has a tendency to misrepresent information to suit himself and call it an early day. I would never put my family in danger and for this person to make such irrational remarks should speak volumes on his integrity. Further where we decided to anchor there was no “high tide” or any other potential danger for any of us who got in the water, and text message will show that his input is “the sand is softer” where I put the marker on the google maps. He attempts to defame the character of whomever gives him a bad review for his horrible service and attitude. And again for reference I’ve boated for over 15 years on numerous lakes and the Pacific Ocean. Your outdated vessel and the keys were not that challenging. But yes when you threatened us and coursed us into returning early because you said tides would be dangerous we asked for you to refund us for the 4 hours we did not get to use.

Fantastic Rental experience from Fun in the Sun and Capt. Shon. The boats are in good shape and well equipped. Prices are very reasonable and the Yacht Club facilities are top notch. I cant wait to use them again!

Hi everyone just wanted to share my adventure with this company. First off I live in key west, my wife wanted to take a boat out for a day out on the water no big deal right? Wrong first off it was windy and choppy on the water, the guy never explained where to go and what to avoid. The boat was a 26 ft deck boat not the boat we wanted plus not made for choppy water. Plus I very bad condition cracking missing things first and kit, bent propeller that they tried to charge me for, then I showed the guy the picture I took that looks like the propeller was bent already then he says ok then we went worry about that and we were only on the water for 3 hours and had the boat for all day. Then I say ok I think we are not gonna go back out then I see a charge on my card for propeller repair. Wow just be careful about who you rent a boat from I here they will try and charge you for things that was already wrong with the boat i would not recommend renting from these guys.
