After searching high and low for a private spearfishing charter in Key West, we found Rio and from the moment we spoke on the phone, I knew we had our captain. He was fun to work with and really knew his stuff. He orchestrated the perfect half-day experience for me, my wife, and our son. Water conditions were less than ideal throughout Key West, but he knew the perfect spot with good visibility and PLENTY of fish. The big barracuda, stingray, and dolphin encounter were icing on the cake.No trophy fish this outing, but by the time our day on the water with Rio came to an end, we had gray snapper, sailor’s choice, and a black strap jack in our bucket. They cooked them up right there at the marina restaurant. Hands down, the best fish we’ve ever eaten and great memories worth way more than the price of the charter.

We had the absolute best time with captain Rio! He is real, and fun with more knowledge and experience than you could ever need. He was extremely attentive to our needs even before we knew we needed them. Spear fishing was amazing more fish than I have ever seen! This guy is awesome and worth every bit!

Went out today with Captain Rio what an extraordinary experience! From the first contact with him booking the trip over a month ago. When we meet him at the boat dock this afternoon I knew from the introduction that it was going to be an epic day! Captain Rio was the best! You won’t be disappointed booking with him. He showed us around some great sandbars and took us snorkeling. He was so kind it was like being on a friend’s boat. Would absolutely do it again!

We had a group of 12 and split up into two boats with Captain Rio charters and Low Tide Charters. The two captains worked beautifully together and gave our group a wonderful day. We parked at a sand bar and swam for quite awhile. It was awesome!!

We went out with Captain Rio yesterday and we had a amazing trip. He planned our trip based on what we requested and it was such a fun morning. We went fishing, snorkeling, played on a sand bar and ended our trip seeing dolphins. Captain Rio was very knowledgeable and friendly and made sure our trip was lots of fun. He was great with our young sons. Captain Rio was great about returning calls and texts, which was very appreciated. We would love to go out with Captain Rio on a future trip to Key West.

Rio was a great captain. We went out spearfishing and caught some snapper. He knows different options available depending on weather and visibility. Lots of local knowledge on the sport. Best of all he is laid back and has a chill personality.

I highly suggest Captain Rios Charters Key West! My kids and I had the time of our lives. Rio shared history of the island, took us to a ship wreck and then we went to the most beautiful sandbar . He is not only a safe captain but accommodating and an absolute riot to hang out with. We all laughed and had the best day ever. The sandbar had one lone palm tree. My kids and I later that night each got a tattoo of that tree to remember it always. Now we will always remember Rio as well.

My husband and I chartered Captain Rios boat while visiting Key West for our 25th anniversary in November 2019. Hands down, this was the highlight of our trip! Captain Rio was a fantastic tour guide, he is professional, fun, kind and extremely knowledgeable about the area and life on the water. This area is amazingly beautiful it feels and looks like the Caribbean! We will definitely return for a longer excursion with Captain RIo, I recommend him 100%!
