This was our second bike tour with Lloyd. As always, we had a wonderful time. Lloyd is a doubt of knowledge about the flora and fauna of Key West, and all of the historic homes and places of interest. And the mango, key lime, coconut water, and the avocado were delicious. Lloyd’s Bike Tour is a must for anyone who wants to enjoy a leisurely bike tour of Key West with a Key West icon of over 30+ years.
Lloyd is the epitome of Key West. A bit eccentric and loads of fun. He is an entertainer full of knowledge about Key West as he has been here since 1972. We took a leisurely ride through the neighborhoods. He pointed out the homes of a few famous authors, and homes with interesting architecture. Along the way, he picked up fruit, broke open the husks, and let us have a taste. We saw lots of flowers and trees. You ride along to coast too. Dont be surprised if you stop and have a conversation with the locals as he knows a few. Lastly, the you have some musical fun at the a garden museum (free admission). He comes prepared with everything you could possibly need for such a tour. Just show up! Thank you Lloyd for your professionalism and not cancelling the tour, since it was was just my husband and I yesterday.
WOW! Highlight of our trip...so enjoyed our unique, off the beaten path bike adventure with Lloyd...Appreciated his fun sense of humor and true local insights...learned a lot about the botany of Key West, hidden beaches, and characters of the island...Lloyd is one of a kind and so is his bike tour! We’ll be back! ❤️
A great way to see the island! We explored all of the hidden spots of key west. The fruit growing on the trees here is delicious and would go mostly unnoticed. Lloyd tells you stories about the island, the plants, and the “Conchs.” This tour is a real treat.
Lloyd have my husband and I a private tour and it was the best part of our trip so far! He took us all around the island and showed us different spots, types of trees and we got to try many yummy fresh fruits! He has been in Key West for 30 years and is a wealth of knowledge about the area. Thank you, Lloyd! :)
Lloyd’s bike tour is great. Lloyd is fun, personable, knowledgeable, and energetic! It was great to learn more about the city and sample the vegetation along the way!
This was a fantastic way to see some of the beautiful nature and history of Key West. The tour guide, Lloyd, is entertaining and knowledgeable about all things on the island. Bring extra water for this fantastic trip.
Roy gave us the best bicycle tour EVER. He toured us through the back streets explained all the different trees, fruits and house designs. Different areas on the island. Went to the Gardens and had a concert in the Park. Really had a good time and the experience was wonderful. You don’t have to be a bicycle expert.
“Coolest bike tour EVER!!!” Says our 7 year old daughter, Francesca. And my husband and I totally agree! Lloyd’s Tropical Bike Tour is a MUST DO in Key West. If you want to experience the back roads and charming lanes of the island, along with sampling the freshest and most unique fruit you’ll ever taste, then this tour is for you. You might even do a jam session in a gorgeous tropical garden! We did!Taking a bike ride through the quaint streets with Lloyd is like hanging out with an old friend. He is amazing, and his tour is as well!Thank you, Lloyd for being so patient and kind to us on the tour, and for going out of your way to find a special bike for Francesca. We will definitely come and see you again when we find ourselves back in Key West. Much gratitude to you. We wish you abundance, in all forms, in 2021.
First off, Lloyd...what a character! Knowledgeable about local area and local vegetation. Super personable and fun! The tour itself is leisurely and laid back. Truly off the beaten path, which is what we were looking for. He took us to a few secluded areas located throughout the island. We were able to try a variety of fruits native to the area... including cracking a coconut, drinking its water, and eating the meat. Fresh is best! We, too, did the tour the first day to get the lay of the land.Very unique tour of the island. Wife, daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and highly recommend. Tell Lloyd that Heather and Jay from Savannah sent you. Its a must do!!!We went in Dec. 2020 during covid. Lloyd was masked up and used alcohol sanitizer. No concerns. We didnt take many pics bcuz we were enjoying the experience. Read all the other (positive) reviews. 100% Agreed.
We totally enjoyed Lloyds Bike Tour. Definitely not a traditional tour but a leisurely-paced, non-strenuous bike ride through Key West, narrated by Lloyd. He describes the local flora and fauna and you will sample fruits from many different trees. If youre lucky, Lloyd will run into a friend or neighbor and youll get to hear from these colorful individuals. Great for all ages.
An entertaining and informative tour. We got to see and learn about Key West while riding through the beautiful neighborhoods. Lloyd is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the flora of the island. So glad I booked this bike tour!
Life ChangingWe had Lloyd all to ourselves. It was great!!! Hes nutty, informative, lively and clever. Ill never eat Avocados the same way ever again. The places we went, the fruits and veggies we tried, the city we saw. Just beautiful! Most importantly fun.Word to the wise ... to those folks over 50. Take at least one bike ride at home to get reacquainted with riding a bike. I was way, way, WAY out of practice and I fell off my bike. Of course Lloyd was right there with a first aid kit. The guy is a real boy scout and what a hoot. I hadnt laughed that hard in a long time.Bring a little extra money for a small donation for the Key West Wildlife Center and the Key West Garden Club. Its not mandatory of course. After viewing it I just wanted to give them a little something. When you stop at the Key West Garden Club take lots of pictures. It is so pretty. The landscaping, brick work, it used to be a barracks. There is a huge cactus in the corner near the gazebo. Its the biggest one Ive ever seen. Near the register there is a big map. Its free and we used it all week. The bikes basket has large holes. If you have a small bag, purse, or a towel put it in the basket to hold your phone and personal items.Be open to trying new foods even if you have had it before. Lloyd prepares it and presents it differently and youll love that you tried something new. There is a PBS Lloyd Mager video too.Parking: Where ever you can find a spot on the street.Tell Lloyd for me that hes worth 5 stars! HE-March2019
We had an amazing bike tour of Key West today with Lloyd! It was so unique and fun...Lloyd was entertaining and he showed us all kinds of native and edible plants all around the island. Highly recommend this fun excursion!!
Lloyd is the best! We were fortunate to be the only 3 on the tour led by Lloyd; he custom-designed the routes we took, showed us many things on Key West that wed never seen before. Very gregarious guide, very personable and down-to-earth. Saw many things outside of tourist areas. Word of advice: be sure to apply sunscreen before ride and bring a water bottle!
Lloyd is a knowledgable, witty guide who takes you through the back streets of Key West away from the craziness of Duval and the standard attractions. A must do activity in Key West.
We had a fabulous time. Colorful scenery, tasty fruit and beautiful architecture. It’s an awesome tour, he told some funny jokes, was very informative on historical facts and had a great personality. I highly recommend it!
Lloyd is AWESOME!!!! I have done this many times over the years and theres always new stops & experiences. Lloyd is very knowledgeable about the island, architecture, plants, fruits, trees & history. I would recommend his tour over any other bike tour if you want to see the real Key West.
Lloyd is an awesome dude, i hope to bike with him soon
We really enjoyed Lloyds bike tour through the back neighborhood streets of Key West! It really was nice to see the less touristy parts of the island and learn about the history, architecture, local fruit, and famous island inhabitants. We highly recommend this very unique bike tour. Thanks Lloyd!!
On original! Do your self this favor.
You cant get a better tour in Key West! Funny & knows his stuff. Get ready for a treat.
Lloyds a hilarious guide, and he knows his stuff. He’s super friendly and a real local! The tour was very relaxed.
After 2 hours with Lloyd, I knew all about his life, and very little about Key West. He grew up in the Bronx, moved to NJ, then Key West in 1972. He won the local tennis championship in 1977. We stopped where he plays tennis so he could talk to his friends. He did show us unique fruit trees in town. He would squeeze some juice or pulp onto the back of our hands so we could try the flavor. It mostly tasted like sunscreen. If we were not in the midst of a viral pandemic, I would have thought that was interesting, but cutting up a mango on a dirty pier railing with bird poop on it was not hygienic. Then we listened to more stories about Lloyd in the hot sun. Lloyd is a nice enough guy, but he needs to get a therapist to work out some details about his life, and he needs to put a little more effort into facts about Key West. Or he could try stand up comedy.
Fantastic! Easy bike ride for all. My family and I were taken down little alleys that you would not normally know were there, told about the plants and vegetation, history of the island and so much more! Definitely should be on your to do list when visiting KW!
This was such a great way to spend our first morning in Key West! Lloyd is such a great tour guide - he’s a true local, knowledgeable, friendly, and fun! We got to bike around a part of the town we wouldn’t normally see (off the beaten path) and he includes stops to taste various fruits, see native creatures, and even a little music session in the garden! This is not one of your typical “touristy” tours, it’s much better!
A one of a kind experience Id recommend to anyone. Be ready to smile, laugh and learn. Lloyd is one of a kind
Our 4 some joined 8 others for a two hour bike tour with Loyd this morning and we could not have had a better start to our day.Loyd is so eager to share his passion for Key West with everyone. We experienced everything from tasting prickly pair to slicing fresh avocados and drinking from freshly halved coconuts, all of which are indigenous to the area. We had a chilltime sitting in a botanical garden playing an assortment of musical instruments, some comprised of wooden frogs! What a treat! Thank you, Loyd!
Lloyds tour was one of the highlights of our trip. Lloyd shares his personal experiences and stories from his many years living in Key West. This is an entertaining and somewhat non-conventional tour, one you wont easily forget! My teenage daughters had a ton of fun as well.
My friend and I were in Key West to celebrate her birthday and decided to take a guided tour with Lloyd. (I am Spartacus!) She and I are road cyclists and have ridden hundreds if not thousands of miles on our bikes. It took us a bit to get used to the bikes. If you ride, youll get this. We both kept trying to cycle back and those are the brakes. Not to worry. The bikes are sturdy and well maintained. Lloyd took seven of us on a five mile adventure through Key West. What is the highest point on Key West? You will have to take the ride to find out.We visited quiet streets and learned about the flora and fauna that is abundant on Key West. Come on an adventure and taste the real Key West! The stops were unique and less traveled. Incredibly educational and memorable. We met some folks along the way. Lloyd has a lot of friends! The grand finale was in a quiet corner of a nature preserve. I dont want to ruin the surprise but we were all joyful and enthralled.I highly recommend this tour. Please do know that you should bring water and sunscreen. And you should be able to ride a basic bike. Arrive early if you think you will have problems!
Lloyd takes you on a fun easy bike ride around some of his favorite places in Key West. Having arrived in KW in 1972 you can bet hes seen things change and gives you a glimpse of the how it was and how it is now aspects of the island. History, architecture, botany, a bit of exercise is all tied together with a gentle humor of a stand up routine. Getting little samples - picked fresh from the trees - of some of the island treats was very unexpected. The stop at the botanical gardens was especially fun.
My fam and I were looking for an off-the-beaten-path experience and we sure found it with Lloyds bike tour! I couldnt imagine a better way to round out our Key West experience. 10/10 would go again!
Like most of the other reviews mentioned, this was one of the highlights of our stay in Key West. If you need a break from the craziness then this might hit the spot. Lloyd is a great guide and his humor and sincerity is a nice mix. We saw a whole different side of Key West we never would have known on our own. Thx again Lloyd !
Lloyds Bike Tour is terrific! The previous reviewer Tara Deeson, rented Mopeds. Lloyd has nothing to do with renting Mopeds from the Moped Hospital; he simply keeps his bikes stored there.Lloyd offers a unique Old Town Key West experience that youll thoroughly enjoy. My friends and I had a great time. We loved Lloyds perspective and knowledge of the people, places, fauna and ecosystem of Key West; all guided by his 40+ years of living on the island.
Rode with Lloyd on a gloriously quirky tour of Key West. Absolutely fabulous. Yes, we rode bicycles and ate local fruits (including Lloyd opening up coconuts with a machete) and saw homes of famous authors in neighborhoods that tourists do not frequent; we heard about history, foliage and wildlife, and we visited a park far off the beaten path with a wooden path through a dense landscape to the ocean. Best, we visited the lush and wondrous Key West gardens where Lloyd produced percussion instruments for us all from his magic bag of tricks, and we had a magical brief jam session, and at one of our stops, my husband asked to play his conch and did. Then Lloyd played Frank Sinatra s Strangers in the Night for us on the conch! His tour has been the highlight of our trip. Highly recommend this tour.
This tour is as unique as Lloyd himself! The biking is easy with lots of informational and experiential stops along the back streets, and yards, of southern Old Town on Key West. You wont see anything that you saw on the Conch Train (which is also a must-do tour on a first visit to this island.) Lloyd makes the trip fun and personal. Even when its hot and humid when one is standing, moving on a bike down the vacant streets or sidewalks is refreshingly cooler. Take 1-2 bottles of water and enjoy the leisurely ride learning the secrets of Key West that only Lloyd can share with you.
Lloyd’s bike tour was the highlight of our trip to Keywest! He was so much fun, full of knowledge, and truly poured his heart into the entire experience! We felt like Lloyd wasn’t just our guide but our friend! Can’t wait to go back next Month and have him give my extended family and ours another one
Always a great experience with Lloyd!
Lloyds Bike Tour will show you the real side of Key West! Our go up did everything from see small uncrowded beach, to visiting the wildlife rescue center, visit the garden club, and even experienced a music jam session, and those are just a few of the highlights! Lloyd stays off the main roads and shows you examples of everyday life on the island. He is very knowledgeable and has an energetic personality. The bike tour is not strenuous, so those worried about too much activity need not be. It was a wonderful experience that I will reccomend to anyone!
9-23-15 Lloyds bike tour will take you places that you wouldnt see on your own. He showed us homes were some famous people used to live, had some tropical fruit, and I had more coconut water on me than in me.It started raining but Lloyd found a place to keep us dry. We pedaled off to the real southern most part of the USA. Lloyd will keep you entertained for the entire ride. Thanks Lloyd.Steve and Jo
The only reason this shop even gets one star is because the mopeds were such an enjoyment to our Key West experience. The staff is all rude, inappropriate and disrespectful. I walked up to stand by my husband and one employee called me a b*tch, I went inside to let the manager know (which I did not get to speak to) but I was told “oh well I don’t know what to tell you, call the cops”. The staff that works here will put a bad taste in your mouth and I will recommend all my friends to avoid this shop.
Lloyds tour is fantastic, an excellent way to spend a few hours in Key West. Beautiful scenery, quiet streets and lots of interesting stops. The bike ride itself is incredibly easy. Thanks Lloyd!
Lloyds a true Key West character. He knows and loves his town, and will show you things you wont see on your regular tour. His jokes may be old, but he tells them with style, so its all OK.
Lloyd is a unique character, the bike tour showed us the back roads of KEY WEST. We tasted wild fruits and sampled the aromas of Exotic wild flowers. We met his animal friends at a wildlife sanctuary. LLOYD took us to the real southern most point not where all the tourist go. He showed us the homes of famous authors that are off the grid. We learned about all the different architectural designs. He took us to a Civil War era fort transformed into a botanical garden. We also made a stop at a famous hotel that Henry Flagler built in 1921. This tour covered all of the bases.
Lloyd is an odd, quirky guy who represents the absolute best of Key West. Wife made me go on the tour and it was an absolute rip---... Lloyd was funny, engaging, and sincerely wanted our group to have fun... Been to KW 5 or 6 times and Lloyd showed us things ive never seen on past visits. would highly recommend!!!!!! 10 Stars!!!!!!
I have taken both bike tours in key west this bike tour by fare is the better bike tour !!
We had a great time! One of the best tours in KW!!
We thought he was a bit wacky. But still tons of fun!
Lloyds tour was a feast for the senses! We smelled fragrant leaves, tasted several tropical fruits, listened to island music, and saw a unique view of Key West. Entertaining and fun!
