I went here with a check engine light on. Theyre across town from me but some friends use this and the tire shop next door and recommended them because they accept SNAP which is a type of credit. When I arrived I observed a mechanic park a car in the disabled parking and leave it there. Keep in mind each time I went there the disabled parking was full of untagged and without placard cars implying the shop uses it for general parking of cars in repair or repaired. I went into the repair shop and asked for an application for SNAP to pay for my repairs. The manager Chris gave me a card and information to apply. When I applied it said I was approved. But, Chris informed me they would need the car for at least a day and so I waited. Figuring I had credit that other shops accept I tried going to a shop closer to home. They said they dont take that credit but another form of it. So they gave me a card to apply for the credit they take. In both instances, applying meant texting numbers to a number and then getting a link to finish applying. Understand that nobody initially informed me of what kind of credit I had been approved for and which kind I applied for at Automotive E. until I spoke with SNAP multiple times and even they at first did not explain their programs. One type of credit is used for merchandise and the other for repairs. A couple weeks had passed and I was on the verge of giving up because now I wasnt sure that the shop that gave me the application took the credit I was approved for. But, considering Automotive E also never called me back when the shop manager said he would and considering his condescending and dismissive tone and attitude and considering the misuse of the disabled parking, my partner and I went back to speak to the owner. But, we didnt want to speak the manager because of his attitude. We wanted to know why I was given a credit application if they dont accept that credit for starters. So we went into the tire shop and asked the woman there if she knew the owner of the repair shop next door (Automotive Experts) as we explained the situation with the credit and everything. She immediately offered to mediate and fix the problem and we all went to Automotive Experts. She and Chris began discussing my SNAP credit and she got on their computer behind their desk implying a business relationship of some kind as now she is on their computers helping me. She then insists they (Automotive Experts) take the form of credit I have and that there would be no problem. Chris appears to be in agreement with her assessment and so we scheduled the repair. I even asked several times if they were sure and pointed out I would have no other way to pay if not. I dropped my car off and the next day it was ready so I went to use my credit. Chris began processing the payment, which I had been informed was processed different from the other form of SNAP. But then... It was declined. Apparently it was the wrong kind of credit. Chris refused to accept any responsibility for this. I spoke to the owner who also refused to accept any responsibility. At no time was any resolution offered. The owner pointed out they need to be paid but offered no solution that would have allowed a payment arrangement. At one point the owner even threatened to ask me to leave because I insulted him and his shop when I complained that the cost was excessive and I felt ripped off and, worse, without any method to pay because they dont accept credit that you apply for using the information they give you. They are dishonest and they will rip you off. I went in for a check engine light and was left paying 2,471 in repairs without the ability to use credit they assured me I could use. I had to borrow money from friends and had I not been able to they would have kept my car and auctioned it, as is their right after a period of time. If you are low income stay away. If you are desperate they will take advantage. Dishonest, rude, and disabled unwelcome. Their response leaves out details and a lie. I have proof and witnesses.
We started with Automotive Experts out of convenience of location and got such a good deal for tires and then an oil change that when we needed a full brake job we pretty much knew where to go. Out of curiosity, I got an estimate elsewhere first and they wanted over $400 more than Chris (Manager who is professional yet personable; honest and knowledgeable)wanted at Automotive Experts. As expected, they exceeded our expectations and for a great price! We wont go anywhere else for our cars needs. The service, experience and prices are just too hard to beat! Go see Chris at Automotive Experts!
This is the place to go for auto repair. I had a failed air conditioner right as the temperatures started to rise. My experience at a dealer was terrible, leaving me with still no air conditioning and an engine covered in Freon. I went to Automotive Experts in Covington and Chris had my car cool, my engine clean and running perfect in one day. He is friendly, professional, and really takes pride in his work. We will be returning for all our car needs from here on. A+!
Ive been going here for many years, always great service, great prices, and they get done quickly.
I went in because my check engine light was on. They ran the diagnostic test, which showed that it had to do with the emissions system. When they opened the hood, they found that only a hose was disconnected. They simply reattached the hose, and the light went off. They did not charge me for the test or the service, saying, We arent going to charge you for simply reattaching a hose. Great guys who do great work.
This is overdue-I have a 2010 Ford Escape.A few days before Thanksgiving, i had a blinking check engine light, indicating a misfire.I took it here, Automotive Experts, and they did the run up.Right off the bat, i knew they weren’t going to BS me.Through phone conversation alone, the mechanic and I agreed to a few things that likely were NOT wrong with my car. When dropped off, and after running the diagnostics, they let me know about $3k worth of work that neede to be done. All 6 plugs, a plug boot, almost every gasket in the engine...a few other things, it’s been a while, and the price quoted was justified for the work they intended to perform. They could have lied and said i needed new coils- they didn’t.They could have lied and said i needed 6 plug boots, but they didn’t- just the one. They replaced my timing chain cover gasket, and easily could have told me my timing chain was off- they didn’t.They could have gouged me for $2500 MORE in work, but they didn’t.They just didn’t BS me.Not even on a level of “they tried and it didn’t work”- they just didn’t try. They actually worked on my engine so efficiently, that when all was said and done, they wound up shaving a considerable amount of time from the original quote, saving me money.Literally hundreds of dollars. They even let me know of an online coupon, saving me another $25-50 at check out.3 months later, my truck hasn’t had a single hiccup.Quality mechanics are hard to come by.Automotive Experts offers exactly that.
Exceptional service, customer service and pricing.Got a problem? Yo, they’ll solve it.
Me and my family have been going to these guys for years after getting scammed thousands of dollars by big names places such as firestone and dealership certified places.Ever since then, I’ve been paranoid when it comes to mechanics. Once in awhile I’ll check their work from a vehicle I got back from Automotive Experts and can say they pride themselves in their work and honesty, which is a term I rarely use unless they’ve proven themselves time and time again.Their customer service is outstanding, which is hard to say for a lot of places around the area. I hope they can continue this. It’s really refreshing to see. These guys will always have me and my families business. To the owner; I know you skim the reviews from time to time and just want to say, keep up the amazing business you’re running here. It’s hard to find trustworthy mechanic shops around the area I live as is with so many others to choose from.To the staff: Everyone appreciates your guy’s hard work, even if nobody tell it to you. Keep it up!
Scam Artists!! I took my car in because when I was braking and accelerating there was a clicking or popping noise. I have a warranty on my car that covers most work done. After looking at my car they called me and told me it was my rack and pinion that needed to be replaced. This also happened to not be under the warranty contact. They said the cost would be $1900 and some change which i was unable to do. I have a friend who is a mechanic and i had him take a look at it for a second opinion/possibly cheaper option since the warranty was out of question at this point. He drove it and said that there was no way it was the rack and pinion. He took the front tire off and found a loose bolt... A LOOSE BOLT! These guys really tried to play me for almost $2k!! Dont ever take your car here!! On top of that, when I went to get my car they tried to charge me a diagnostics fee of $137. I completely understand if this was something talked about when I dropped the car off, but it wasnt. Nothing was signed saying i would have to pay that let alone even brought up. Also the owner Chris at the front desk is completely full of himself. He also wasnt wearing a mask in compliance with the state law.
This is THE BEST auto shop Ive ever experienced in WA! And Ive done business with about 15 different shops as Ive lived all over WA. The owner is courteous, knowledgeable, and helped us with a quick problem even though it was nearly closing time! He took the time to explain the problem and offer solutions. 10/10, will absolutely be returning!
I needed a quick, last-minute pre-purchase inspection for a car I was about to buy that seemed to have a problem with the back left axle support. I lucked out in calling this place first! They were able to fit me in straight away. The owner and his coworker looked at the back left axle and did a once-over of the rest of the underside of the car and told me that although I should get the back left axle fixed in the next 40k miles or so that it was safe and good to go! Quality people and quality work. I definitely intend to come back here!
BEWARE - This shop did the work I asked but their diagnostic work resulted in a list of serious and expensive problems. I have since had every one of those problems checked out and NONE of them are what Automotive Experts said they were. In fact, they were not problems at all. I can only conclude that they try to SCAM unsuspecting customers (especially during COVID). Shameful operation at best. STEER CLEAR !
These guys are amazing, incredibly reasonable and so nice. They did a great and very fast job repairing my car and I’m grateful.
We had an oil change done recently through them. Very efficient & didnt mind my children. They even had small goodie bags behind the front desk for kids ❤ Basic oil change for our first vehicle (Toyota Corolla), but we will be returning.Very few automotive companies have heard of our second vehicle, a Kia Borrego, which has caused us lots of issues. The guy at the front desk immediately knew the vehicle and knew the headache it was. Haha This is extremely helpful as when it does need work its a spoiled suv so we will need someone who knows what theyre doing!
I was on my way home last Wednesday when there was a really loud *POP* from the front end of my 2002 Dodge Stratus. The left front of the car suddenly dropped onto the ground and the car was NOT moving anywhere. Having used the Kent Automotive Experts through my work before (I work at a collision repair shop) I knew that they could handle whatever curve ball this car just threw. So, I called the tow truck, had the Dodge towed to Chris and hoped for the best. A couple of days later (they had to work a miracle to get the car physically into the shop) Chris called me and gave me the news. The lower control arm had somehow fallen out of the spindle. They had also done an inspection on the car and found that the spark plug in the first cylinder had a crack in it, the brake fluid had water in it somehow, and there was oil in places there shouldnt have been. So, he quoted me ~$1500 for the tons of work that this car needed. I talked with my husband, I approved the work, and was given an ECD (estimated completion date) of today (2/26/2020). I got a call from Chris yesterday, and the car was done; a day early! I went and picked it up, and Bertha (the Dodge) is running better than when I bought her!Much thanks to Chris and his technicians! Hopefully it will be a while before I get to see you guys again :)
GO HERE!!! Simple oil change was 1/2 the cost of Jiffy Lube, and obviously higher quality work. And, OUTSTANDING service!!! Beyond impressed. I had made a comment about missing lunch and Scott gave me his banana 🍌!! Both Scott and Chris (owner) shook my hand when I came in and were both amazing!
They do great work everytime. Plus theyre honest, which has been a rarity for me in this state. I cannot say enough good things about these folks. Check em out.
Friendly staff, fair pricing, explained everything in detail and took the time to answer questions. They dont try to sell service you dont need. I have been very pleased with the service I have received in several occasions. From basic oul changes to more extensive repair. I highly recommend this place.
I found Robert managing the phone and Chris, the owner on site. My work was done in a timely manor. They also pointed out a fix for my next visit. I came here because they are not a large chain like Firestone or Goodyear that continually try to up-sale. Over the phone they were half the price of Jiffy Lube. These guys are for real and I had great service at a reasonable price..
I dont normally post reviews but I had such a great experience at this shop. Not only was my car repaired to my satisfaction, but the shop was very clean and Chris, the owner, was very personable and took the time to explain what they did to repair the car and what I need to watch for down the road. I will definitely be taking my car back to them the next time it needs work!
I generally dont like dealing with car repairs. But I had a really good experience at Automotive Experts in Covington. They were very knowledgeable and explained everything to me in a way that I could understand what I needed to fix now and what I could bring in later. The customer service was excellent and I will definitely bring my car back here again!
Outstanding service! My husband and I usually do our own vehicle work... but we were in a pinch and needed some quick work done. Chris was able to fit me last minute... with a smile. His team was knowledgeable, efficient, and trustworthy! They tell it like it is, no added fees or unnecessary work!! Based off my experience today, I would happily recommend anyone go to this facility. 👍
Great work, honest and straightforward owner and staff, and competitive rates. I had several major repairs done. Very happy I brought my car here.
Had to have a stuck battery replaced, couldnt do it at home, last 2 places I went said they couldnt do it for this reason or covid what ever covid has to with batteries. these fellars hooked us up.
Overall, great service and very knowledgeable technicians. It turns out my car had additional problems which I wasnt too happy about. However, they gave me a discount and had my car repaired in no time. Thank you for being straight forward and providing the exact service that was needed! Will come here again if I need future repair.
Havent even been in yet but called after 2 Ford dealers would not even look at my truck and explained to Chris situation of being from out of town and Chris warmly told me bring it in and hed look at first thing in the morning. As I said not even been there yet but service starting out very well.
I took my car in to get a tune up and my window fixed they charged me 1900 I thought it was over priced but I paid for it I get my car a few days later and I hear a loud noice in my car which I’ve never heard before next thing I know my car totally shuts down in the middle of the street I was blessed enough to have some where I can pull into so I wasn’t stuck in the middle of the street do not go to them they are over priced and will get over on you and tell you there’s a bunch of problems with your car now I have to take my car to bmw to find out what they did
If I could give a zero star I would.I took my daughters 2001 BMW there to have a pressure test done because of a coolant leak I couldnt find and over heating problem. No blown head gasket, I already did a leak down test and removed the valve covers.I waited for over 1 1/2hr before before deciding to get a ride home since my appointment was at 9am and they had not even moved it inside yet. 10 minutes after I left they called and said it was done???I was told the pressure test was fine but I needed a new electronic thermostat & housing because it was not fully opening. Also a new clutch fan and my AC belt needed replace because it was bad. $500+ estimate.I bought all new belts, thermostat and clutch fan from local parts store and headed home. Replaced the thermostat, replaced both belts even though after removing the fan shroud (PITA) the belts looked like new. Go glaze, no checking/cracks. Later I found out they had been replaced 10K miles ago. :( Saved the belts for emergency spares.Pulled the clutch fan and then put it back on because it felt like new. Exactly the same resistance, no bad bearing feel. I also replaced the thermostat as suggested. The car/SUV still had the same over heating issue and slowly loosing coolant. :( FINALLY I found a small pin hole in the overflow tank that was hidden and only leaked when HOT but would have been obvious if a pressure test was ever done. 100% it was never done.$110 wasted and I doubt they even hooked it up to the machine like they said but I know they never did a pressure test that is the main reason I took it there.IF you decide to go stay and watch to make sure they do what they say. Me, Ill NEVER go back and Ill never recommend anyone else go.BTW if anyone questions if this is real or not I still have my receipt and quote for extra work as well as pictures of the pin hole I found a couple weeks later on the overflow tank.
I love our local auto repair shop! Give them a try! You wont regret it.
Speedy, honest, reliable, expert service. Everything you could ask for in an auto mechanic. Terrific! Highly recommended!
Great experience, front desk staff was knowledgeable and professional. I have an older domestic car that is not produced anymore but is has very low miles so I want to keep it in good shape and I am sure they will be able to help me do this.
I run a 17 truck shipping company. A vehicle that is down is one that is not making me $. The pros at this shop get it. Knowing I could not wait, the owner drove his personal truck first to fife for a fuel pump and then to Federal Way to have my tank cleaned and repaired. A job quoted at 3 days at 2 other shops was done, end of day. That sets them apart. More than just a quality repair, but people that understand and care about there customers.
I took my car in for problems starting and they took a look at it and were able to fix it. Granted, I did not want to spend as much as I did, but they did a good job at breaking down what was going on with my car and explain to me what they were going to do and how it would help. They were very informative and professional in their conduct and I felt very comfortable with the work they did. Although they also found issues with my brakes and I really dont want to spend the money on it, at least they looked and told me :) Thanks you guys! :)
I took my diesel BMX X5 to Chris and the team today because I needed my diesel fluid replaced asap. Not only were they able to get me in on a days notice but I ended up needing new brakes badly. They worked so hard to get the parts in, car done, and back to me today. Im in an outside sales job so being without my car is not possible. Im so grateful to be back on the road and feeling safe. Robert was great to work with and a shout out to the lead mechanic there as well. I will definitely return here in the future and my husband is bringing his BMW here next. Oh an great prices - feels nice not to be ripped off by going to the dealership!
I googled oil change and ended up at Automotive Experts. I was greeted by the owner. He was nice a first, but after the oil change he tried to sell me a ton of things. I did not say this to him, but I caught him in two lies. Women are not stupid. Some of us know a little bit about cars. Buyer beware. Dont be fooled. I shouldve listened to my extinct when he made me uncomfortable with his attempts at flirting with me.Stacy & Heather
I use to take my vehicles to the dealer, but no more. Chris runs an awesome shop with tight quality control at very reasonable rates. I still take my vehicles there, even though I live about an hour away now. It is really worth the drive to know your vehicle is in good hands and you are not going to ripped off with shoddy labor or sub-par parts.
I have used these guys more than once. They have always been professional and easy to work with. They also have gotten my vehicles completed quickly. I really cant recommend them enough. I have never had to come back for the same problem.
Good service. Good prices. Got my truck done on time. Will be return customer
I dropped my car off for an oil change and when I came back to pick it up they gave me a long list of of things that they said needed to be fixed. the list included things like timing belt, water pump, valve gasket and more that totaled up to $900. I was very surprised by this because I just recently had all of these things replaced by a mechanic I know a trust. So, I had my dad, who is also very good with cars check to see if they needed to be replaced and guess what, they didnt! I dont know if they just thought they could try and get money out of me because Im a girl or if its because there is 140,000 on my car so they just assumed these things needed to be replaced?? All I know is I am never going here again and I suggest you do the same.
Unplanned engine problems on a busy Friday and the team at Automotive Experts we amazingly helpful and went above and beyond!
Automotive Experts does the job as well or better than a dealership but charges much less. They also have a small-town friendly attitude that is much appreciated.
Wow, I havent been treated to such poor service in awhile. Condescending and rudeness is what my experience was with Automotive Experts. I have to laugh because they were no way near experts when it came to diagnosing my trucks warning light. Tried to strong arm me about everything being wrong with my vehicle. Im like.. hey buddy, my trucks 3 years old, just turned 31K. Worst customer service. There you have it. Enter at your own risk.
Took my car in for a quick oil change and they tried to sell me a 3-day, $2100 complete engine overhaul to remedy a minor oil leak. Went next door to Gregs Auto for a second opinion and he replaced the leaky valve ($10) and changed the oil in under an hour. Havent leaked a drop of oil since. AVOID Auto Experts.
Excellent service and my car runs great! Glad I found this place!
They take very good care of our 3 vehicles and are timely and thorough and care about the customer and offer coupons.
Charge 20%more than BMW dealer ship. also didnt fix my problem. money down the drain
Went in with a simple sticking caliper issue on my left front break, walked out 4 days later paying $1550.65 for a break system overhaul on my truck. I noticed break fluid leaking from the serviced area less than a week after Automotive Experts performed the repairs. I informed Chris of the problem, but he would not stand by the previous work or even bleed the brakes to flush out air pockets caused by their repairs without charging me additional fees. Do not trust this shop.
I take multiple vehicles to the crew at Automotive Experts, including my service van and my diesel truck. Good work, fair rates and Im always pleased with the service.
My dad Dennis VonWeller takes his truck to Chris Ollum who is the amazing owner of this shop. I want to say first thank you to Chris who has taken such amazing care of my father..it is rare to see this hospitality in this day and age as well as someone who is genuinely honest and sincere. For all the negative comments on here I highly suggest you do your homework before insulting on a business page especially when there is no truth to it. Chris Ollum Dennis and I both thank you for everything you have done for him and his only transportation to work. It means the world to us and I wIll recomend anyone I know to always go to you first :)
Happy to get my work done here.
The worst service ever. My vehicle was there for days and all they did was a diagnostic test and put on a belt that I already had. $195 later and they found out what I’d already told them, I need a new transmission. Duh! Had to take it to another shop to get work done and get me back home.
Chris and Robert are willing to work with you on what needs to be done and they bend over backwards to get you the price that works. No one but Automotive Experts works on my Corvette.
Used to go to Firestone, after spending $$$$$ to fix the problems, they were never fixed. Went to Automotive Experts and got the issues fixed without having to take the vehicle back to try again.
Great people!!! Great work!
