Stephanie has been tutoring my 8 year old daughter for about 5 months during this spring/summer (2019) twice a week. Back then our daughter was attending a Waldorf (Steiner) school but we were set on switching to public school after the summer break. We wanted to prepare our daughter for the big transition (the curriculum and the way Waldorf and Public school teach academics are very different from each other!). My daughter absolutely LOVED Stephanie and was always very excited to go there. She improved her math and writing skills and introduced her to many new terms and methods. I’m sure Stephanie had a great impact on the very smooth transition into public education. I highly recommend tutoring sessions with Stephanie!
Stephanie has been working with my daughter for almost 18 months. She has helped her with being more confident in reading and sharpening her math skills. My daughter is in the second grade and enjoys her time with Stephanie. She keeps it fun and fresh! I highly recommend.
Stephanie has been tutoring my son since March, 2018. My son behind in grade level expectations and I couldn’t figure out why. Stephanie helped to assess that my son had attention deficiencies before his school did. It was a game changer. In the 10 months since working with Stephanie and her customized techniques to reach my son at his abilities, he has reached many of the milestones set to get him on course with his grade. Stephanie is in frequent with my son’s teachers and they work together to ensure my son is supported and continues to grow. I highly recommend and commend Stephanie’s tutoring services!
My son started tutoring with Stephanie over the summer and it has been such a great experience, we decided to continue through the school year. He has always struggled with reading and writing in the past, having dyslexia, and Stephanie has been instrumental in both helping him improve his skills and feel good about it at the same time😊 She keeps it positive and fun for him and he always seems like he has had a boost of confidence after he finishes a tutoring session! I would highly recommend Stephanie with Starfish Tutoring to anyone.
Our 9 year old son has been working with Stephanie for about 2 months now on improving his reading and writing skills. Before working with Stephanie, he had very little self interest in reading and only stuck to basic / easy reading books. As we have progressed through his tutoring, he has found more self interest in reading more challenging books.Stephanie has been great to work with. We have set up a consistant and regimented schedule that helps to continue our sons reading and learning growth. She has many wonderful tools that help him stay on task and involved with his learning. We highly recommend Stephanie as a tutor if you are thinking of helping your child with learning growth.
Stephanie has worked 4-5 days a week, since the start of summer, 2017, with my autistic grandson following underperformance by the Seattle School District. She came highly recommended and per performance proved consistent with that recommendation. She has helped him make real progress that was not being accomplished by the School District. She was also of significant help in advocating for him in his latest IEP.When she came on board she established an immediate, positive relationship with my grandson and his parents; she was making meaningful progress by the second session. Stephanie is a highly responsible, organized individual and made it easy for the family to work with her.I highly recommend her services.
Stephanie Stratton was absolutely a godsend for our son. He is an 11-year-old on the autism spectrum, and he had fallen behind in school due to issues with his special ed classroom.Stephanie worked with him for 3 hours a day, every day, for the entire summer, and was able to tailor her instruction to his unique learning style, so that he learned quickly and retained the instruction. This was across all subjects; math, reading, social studies and science.More, Ms. Stratton and our son formed a strong relationship, that made him care about working with her, and it was clear that she cared about him as well. She was also an excellent advocate for him when it was time to discuss his fall placement with the school district. Because of her testimonials, and her willingness to be present at meetings with evaluators and district officials, he was able to get a placement that was far more appropriate to his needs than what he had before.I would definitely work with her again; she was exactly what our son needed, and her caring and competence made all the difference.
