I have purchased two Jeeps and had them serviced for over 20 years at my dealership. I recently had an AC problem in my Jeep. I went to my dealer and was told I needed a new compressor which would cost $2,000 parts and labor. I had recently paid them over $2,500 on similar issues and decided to get another estimate. My neighbor recommended Gines. I trust my neighbors opinion and went to Gines. In the past I would have been skeptical to get any repairs done anywhere else but the dealership. In this case I was not disappointed. They were able to get me in immediately. They diagnosed my AC as being low in refrigerant, and a blocked filter. Problem fixed! The charge was $242. I am so appreciative of their honesty. My business has done a 180 and I am now a loyal customer of Gines.

Honesty. Can you find a mechanic that has that? Chad and the others guys (forget their names) were all very honest and told me exactly what was needed to fix my AC the right way. Even though it was a higher than expected quote is little shops like these that need business and treat customers the right way.

Great experience. Quick, clean, and professional. Definitely paid a pretty penny, but as far as I can tell, parts are premium, and diagnostics were solid and honest. I feel good about the work done on my vehicle and would probably return for future work.A lot of old timers seem to frequent the place. That was my first good sign. The turnover and services went well, too. They also guarantee their work up to a certain point.

We brought our Ford F150 into their shop for a check engine light. They did the work to get it fixed when we could/should have had a full tune up where they should have replaced all the spark plugs while they were at it. They only changed the one that was misfiring. Weve had bad luck with our truck so theyve gotten a lot of money out of us. I went somewhere else. I had to get all the spark plugs replaced at a different shop. They call you to say they appreciate your business and thats nice.

These folks are fantastic! Replaced the ignition switch in my husband’s Jeep Liberty for way less than I thought it’d cost. Very friendly and knowledgeable, great shop and will be the mechanics for both our vehicles!

These guys are great! They dont pressure you into any repairs. They are friendly and know their stuff. I plan to bring my car here for anything big to small. They offer a shuttle service which is fantastic. Hours of operation are also great to plan accordingly toy schedule.

My Construction Company sends all of our fleet vehicles to Gines for all types of repairs. They are thorough and fast. I also like that they call with estimated repair costs before they start the work. I also take all my personal Family vehicles there Nice honest people to work with.

They wanted to charge me $ 100 bucks JUST to look at my car even though I told them I already had the diagnosis and part to fix.

They had my car for two days and couldn’t figure out the problem and I still had to pass these people not 110.00 that they quoted me to diagnose my vehicle which they couldn’t do after two days but 130 bucks I get taxes but then they charge me ten bucks for their “ hazardous materials around the shop“ fee are u kidding me yep will never go to these people again

We have been bringing our cars here for decades. Friendly, knowledgeable, honest staff make it a great place to return to. So wonderful when you authorize a certain amount for a repair and they call and say they managed it for less than half that!

Our car is 14 years old and was in bad shape. My first time taking it to Gines was a great one. The staff are friendly, helpful and told us exactly what the car needed. Oil change, gasket replacements and it runs better than what it did the last time I took it to a mechanic. Im very happy with the hard work and service they did. They know what they are doing. ***updated 05/21/2021****We had an unexpected issue that we needed to resolve quickly and have someone close. When we called Gines they were able to have it towed quickly, etc. They were very nice and apologized for the previous experience and thanked us for coming back. After this experience would recommend them again.We went to Gines because multiple co workers and family have taken their vehicles here. They performed the diagnostic and told us the cost.....$2400. My husband proceeded to call around and the dealer we usually take it to quoted us half that. The gentleman my husband spoke to said all of these things had to be fixed in order for Gines to fix it and my husband opted to pick it up and take it to our car dealer. Not a big deal and I would have given a favorable rating as they were nice about diagnostic, etc. However who ever Gines has manning the counter was extremely rude upon pick up and talked down to my husband treating him poorly for calling and pricing an expensive fix. We won’t be back and I will ensure all who have previously used them know about the extremely rude customer service we received simply from not choosing them to fix it solely on cost, nothing else. We will not return simply from that interaction.

I had my vehicle towed to Gines Auto because it was stuck in a parking lot and would not start. They were able to find the problem and fix it quicker than they originally told me they would have it done. I also had them look into a little oil leak and they fixed it for me at no cost because it was a service they had done on the vehicle a bit ago, which shows me that they take pride in their work. They have always done a great job when they have serviced my vehicle and Gary is always so kind and friendly. Thanks to all the workers at Gines Auto.

Brakes were done incorrectly.

Told need unnecessary repairs over 500+ and drove my vehicle many unnessiary miles for vrap program. Fixed myself for 6$ . Left my vehicle way filthy like took 4 wheeling in it . Rip off place, dont trust them. Was diagnosed by a licensed reputable place and didnt need the repairs they said. State should be better on who they have as help for vrap program. Rip Off place. Dont trust them.

The mechanics are very knowledgeable and honest. The work they do is second to none. I have never had a bad experience in the dozens of visits I have made to their shop. A top notch establishment in every sense of the word.

What can I say, I took my Jeep to another shop after taking it to gines twice. I had the timing belt replaced but they didn’t even take off the residue so it will most likely wear faster then the last one. I had a detailed and expensive diagnostic done since there was no check engine light on and I needed a mechanic. They found and fixed the problem. After taking my Jeep to another mechanic he immediately pointed out issues that should have been mention on the diagnostic gines provided. Leaks, poor maintenance on the timing belt, and a few other things. He did it all for free. Wish this business wasn’t working for money but working for the people in the community. If you want to take your car here be prepared to be treated quick fixes not worth what they charge.

They are very courteous and professional. It is very nice that they have a shuttle, so I dont have to make other arranges to get back home when I drop my car off. I also like the report that they email me that tells me what they checked with pictures clarifying exactly the condition of each item.

Wow! Nothing but professionalism and courtesy. I’m now in my 40’s and this is the first mechanic I’ve found who is concerned with taking care of you and making you a life long customer. I’m not mechanically inclined at all, and can be overwhelmed getting my vehicles fixed. But I was very comfortable with the owner, Gary. All the staff I met were also friendly and seemed very competent. I’ll be going back and recommending this shop to everyone.

I took my car to Gines Auto. I did it because it was about 2 min away from my house. The repairs ended up costing over 2 grand. I didnt have the money. I finally was able to get the money from my boss but it took about 4 months. Gines kept my car in the back, never put a mechanics lean or threatened me and the car ran freaking amazing!

Honest mechanics with fair prices. I only wish they were open on Saturday but everyone deserves a weekend off. Ive been bringing my car to Gines for six years and wont take it anywhere else. As a woman (who grew up around cars and understands them), I especially appreciate the fact that they dont talk down to me. Gines is the best shop in Salt Lake City. These guys are honest, trustworthy, and let you know all of the details to make the decision. Yes you have to pay ~$100 for the inspection, but remember this is a professionals time spent digging into issues with your car. Chad was super helpful and answered every question I had in a professional manner. He was not pushy or irritated when I asked for a little bit of time to make the decision. My truck runs as good as the day I bought it! Gines will be servicing my truck for many years to come.

They did great work for us. Gines resolved an issue in one visit that I had spent hundreds on with two other locations. Weeks later it is still working well without having to go back. They have my business!

We have been taking our car to Gines for a couple of years now and we have always appreciated the honest work that they have done! It does take a day or two for most work to be completed, so expect that with your plans, but it has always been worth the wait. Decently priced as well.

I found this mechanic to be extremely overpriced. Went in for a simple diagnosis and got charged over a hundred bucks for the service. Every shop I have been to has easily been half the price for a diagnosis. The service was very friendly. They got my car done same day. Service overall was great. Tried to get me to fix more than I needed though. I will not go back to these guys, want a more reliable, affordable and honest mechanic. Hard to find these days.

The Best Auto Service that I have been to. They were worked with me to get my Car fixed in a Timely manner. My Car Runs so much better then before. I would highly suggest this place if anyone needs a place.

Gines helped take care of an oil leak issue about a month ago. Decided to wait and make sure there werent any issues before I submitted a review. Thought Id have to replace the oil pump, which is an expensive job. Turns out it was a sensor issue, back up and running with minimal cost. Would recommend for an honest mechanic shop. Took in a used Chevy Volt that I was considering buying. Chad was very attentive to give me honest answers (at no benefit to himself or the shop) and gave a thorough, but not over-inflated, pre-purchase inspection. He took the time needed and even went the extra mile, literally, when we needed to drive a bit more to check out a few more things.I bought the car and have been very happy with it.When I tried to offer money to Chad, he refused. I guess he felt confident enough in his recommendation that he didnt need to unnecessarily do anything more that would have incurred a fee.What a guy!

Ive been very pleased with Gines Auto Service so far. They are courteous, thoughtful, and not at all pushy (a vast improvement over my experiences with Jiffy Lube). Their customer service is fabulous and even includes a shuttle service so you can drop off your car and not have to wait around for it to be ready (or force friends or family members to come pick you up). We definitely intend to continue using them in the future.

Gines is a well run honest company. They have treated all of my vehicles well, from a classic car to my everyday driver. Always know what the correct diagnosis is and I have never had a problem. This should be your first call if you have any automotive worries.

Just needed some good maintenance work on my 2013 Dodge truck. The work and detail was excellent and they worked with me on what had to be done now and what could wait a few months. They do amazing work and diagnostics.

They are always honest and saved me $4000. The dealer said one thing brought the car to them they have a different diagnosis and my car has not had the problem the dealer said it was. Still running great a year later.

I had a great experience recently at Gines, I had a broken CV Joint that made it very unsafe to drive my vehicle, Its always scary to try to find a fair place to take your car, I called around and was getting quotes of $450-$550 and some people even telling me to bring it in and well go from there, Gary answered, quoted just under $300 with parts and labor, I dropped my car off that night, as I was trying to find a ride home from family members, I was offered a ride home from them, how nice is that? Well my car was done by 1pm the next day, I paid what I was quoted and they did a courtesy check like more auto shops would do, but they didnt push things on me, and try to make me get it fixed right then, All in all, I could not be happier with my experience and I hope if youre reading this, it gives you the confidence to give them a try and become a loyal customer yourself, I feel like Ive got a trusting company in an untrustworthy business.

This place is great, always great quality work and service. The place is a little hard to get out of onto the road, and is admittedly a little dirty in the office, but otherwise theyre fantastic. Its about the quality of the service, not the appearance.

A couple of years ago, I took my car for its yearly inspection. The front end suspension needed work and wouldnt pass inspection. I took it to Gines and they took care of the problem along with the registration and emissions. A year before I had the same front end problem on the other side and was charged over $100 more elsewhere. Needless to say, Chad and Gary are two of my favorite people now, and they take care of my two cars. The customer service is amazing, and I find they are HONEST and reasonable in pricing. I would refer Gines in a heartbeat.

Does not offer convenient hours. . Closed on weekends. Went to a close competitor shop and received excellent service, even though they were very busy on a Saturday.

Gines is the only mechanic I know of that understands customer service. I used to go elsewhere, until they were able to fix in15 minutes, what another shop couldnt fix in a day.

Whats not to like about Gines Auto Service? Theyve kept my 9-year-old car on the road for over 170,000 miles. They take care of EVERYTHING with the car from windshield washer fluid to tires. They even give me a calendar every year! LOLCant go wrong with Gines.
