For a store that doesnt look big on the outside, the selection inside is incredible! I honestly dont think Ive ever had trouble finding exactly what I was looking for on many trips here.Wonderfully friendly staff and very reasonable prices make this the perfect stop for almost anything you need for your home projects, gardening, or even automotive needs.

As always gales has all of the small parts that you need. I needed a small insert pin for a motor shaft. They had it and it was quick to find it. Love gails

Our family loves Gales hardware! Its an excellent little jewel in Kalamazoo. It’s important to support your local business; especially when they have everything you need. I saw someone post that everything is overpriced and you can never get anyone to help you. I’d have to question this. Everyone is friendly, helpful and if things may be a few cents more than the big box store they are not buying product in bulk. I haven’t ever noticed anything being overpriced. My favorite place in the store is the nuts and bolts; it reminds me of shopping with my dad. They have everything!!! Always buy your spare keys here as they have a genuine key replicator and not digital so it’s always perfect!!! Thanks Gales!!!

Shop here if you don’t want to be sent to a huge isle to figure things out yourself like in the big box stores (Lowe’s, Home Depot, etc). I don’t shop here just to support a local business. I do because their customer service is extraordinary and their selection seems to be quality over quantity. Tried and tested product the workers stand behind and can give you advice on from experience. Great store from needing help replacing that single/unique 5 cent screw you lost, to taking on a big DIY project.

This is the best little hardware store around. Sadly almost every other small hardware store has folded due to the megahardware establishments. This place has held on however and is just fantastic. Great service, very knowledgeable staff, and very decent pricing. Dont let the size fool you they have a huge inventory and a wide variety of items to choose from. Skip the longer drive to the big box store. Dont worry about getting lost in the maze that the hardware store has become. Check out Gales instead, tell the staff what your looking for, and be on your way in minutes. Much better then getting lost in the hardware labyrinth.

Disagree with Emily! Awesome repair shop! They can fix anything: mowers, blowers, electrical...every machine I have taken there has been fixed within just a few days! New repair guy, quick turn around, and way cheaper than the guys down the road. Try these guys first!

This is my favorite hardware store in the area. Many helpful staff that are knowledgeable with most projects as well as having a great awareness of what they stock. I used to go to the big home improvement stores for small items like fasteners, tools, etc. I would usually wander looking for what I needed or someone to help me find it. Whereas Gales always has someone to help and can immediately take you to the products you want if they have them. They are a small store, but I have been impressed with their selection.

Great service like the old days.

My lawnmower wasnt working, so I took it to Gales for service. We were told 10-14 days for repair. It took more than 3 weeks, and when I called to get an update, they hung up on me. I called back, and was told they would call me. We used the mower once. Now it wont start again, and the helpful staff said they would be happy to charge us $30-50 to look at it again. Clearly the problem was not actually fixed the first time, but god forbid they try and make it right.I found out after taking the mower in that my mother had a similar issue. She took something in for a battery replacement and took it home to have it not work at all. So, if you need something repaired, take it somewhere else. Ill never be stepping foot in there again.

Not only a great independent business, but with “old school” service! In fact, personal service, and the high intelligence of the employees seem to be the the markers for employment here. Wonderful, wonderful, honest business!

Getting help and questions answered is a challenge and requires lots of time. Trying to support local shops, but no good deed goes unpunished, Lowes / Home Depot is sadly a better choice

Knowledgeable and freindly staff. You walk in and withing 30 sec you are headed in the right direction. A big box store told me 2 weeks and 90.00 for a crane tub stem. Gales said try this .30 gromet and some jb weld. 2 years later it is still holding.

I disagree with John Doe. Ive always been treated well. I always go there to buy sometime ridiculously small orings or screws and the staff would always spend time with me trying out several items similar to my request just so that I get what I have come for. The screws would be sometimes so cheap that I wonder would spending that amount of time just to get the right fit for them would really worth the value of their prices?! Thats why I think the staff is all about costumer satisfaction.

I had called and talk to Brad about a furnace issue I was having and to see if they have an igniter. He said yes they did, and then proceeded to ask me what problem I was having. I explained the situation he said to try a couple troubleshooting techniques. Turned out I still needed the igniter. My daughter stopped in and talked to him and Brad gave her the correct part I needed. And now my furnace is working fine.Thank you Brad for your assistance,Troy
