I just finished dealing with FedEx Freight and their shockingly poor service. It started several weeks ago when I ordered a large piece of equipment (a laser cutter) from a facility in Pennsylvania to be shipped with Residential Delivery and Liftgate Service. The machine is quite large and I do not have a loading dock or forklift so the seller made certain that it would be deliverable by liftgate, and incidentally the seller also needed a liftgate for pickup. The machine was placed onto a skid and strapped into place as can be seen in the photos. The skid was picked up by liftgate and the shipment was accepted by FedEx for residential delivery and liftgate delivery on August 24th.The shipment was supposed to be delivered the Friday after shipment (8-28-2020) but I received a phone call that morning explaining that the skid had been damaged en route. I requested photos that are attached. These photos show that the skid was lifted with a forklift with forks that were too short, and the skid split in half. I was told that it would not be deliverable in this manner and I offered some suggestions and delivery was scheduled for the following week.I was called the day that it was due to be delivered and was told by the Service Manager at the FedEx facility in Kalamazoo that it would not be delivered after all. I was told that it was far too large to deliver by liftgate and that I would need to arrange alternative delivery. I stated that it was picked up by FedEx and that FedEx knew fully that it was destined for liftgate delivery when picked up, but was told in no uncertain manner that it would not be delivered to my house. The fact that it was picked up with liftgate delivery but determined after the fact that it couldnt be delivered put me in an impossible position. I specifically requested that service -- which FedEx accepted -- then to be told that it would not be delivered after all, and that additional charges and fees would begin applying because FedEx cannot deliver it is unacceptable service. It absolutely should not have been picked up if that were the case, and since it was picked up and damaged already, I would have expected delivery to have been arranged using some other means. Nonetheless, the only option that I had available was to accept delivery at my workplace and rely on our warehouse staff to do the job that FedEx was paid to do.Finally the machine arrives at my workplace on September 8th. Upon opening the truck, it was found that the machine had fallen off its skid en route and was cantilevered over with the corner resting on the truck door. One of the major supports on the machine was bent, there were numerous dents and scuffs, and one of the feet was broken off entirely and sitting loose by the door. The accessories that came with the machine were also merely set down on top of the machine without any strapping, and several nicks were found in the power cords including one cord that was ripped out entirely that required rewiring. This additional damage came as a big surprise to me because after the liftgate delivery was cancelled, and after the skid had ALREADY been broken by FedEx in transport, I would have expected the machine to have at the very least have been secured enough to not become FURTHER damaged by FedEx in transport. That is not what happened though, and the machine arrived with an array of dents, dings, and broken parts. At that point I was left with the dented, scuffed, and partially broken machine in the warehouse at my workplace. Fortunately I was able to borrow a trailer and a coworker borrowed a skid steer to unload it at my house but all-in-all it was a logistical nightmare and was absolutely not what I expected when this shipment was first set up. Ive also tried to get a freight claim set up to handle the damaged equipment but have not had my emails answered, so beware about the difficult claims process as well. I honestly am shocked by how poorly it was handled by FedEx at every single step along the way and have ZERO intention of ever using them again.

Paid $30 for “guaranteed 2-day delivery”.Package was scanned as “out for delivery” at 7:04am on the scheduled day.At 8:00pm that day, package was flagged “delivery not attempted, will be delivered next business day”.Next business day...still not here. Of course it’s the weekend and nobody is around to help.WHY AM I PAYING EXTRA FOR A SERVICE AND NOT RECEIVING THE SERVICE I PAID FOR!?!?Customer service was unhelpful, as was the local office themselves.Waste of money. Sticking to UPS.
