This clinic was the only veterinary clinic that I could get my very sick kitty into for care. My own vet was booked for weeks, including emergency visits. While the wait is long, that is to be expected right now, especially since they were consistently busy pretty much the whole time I was there. We were greeted with kindness and every person listened with care. In the end, I had to make an extremely difficult decision. The doctor provided me with unbiased information and guidance. She allowed me time to make the decision, and helped me be at peace with it. I was able to be with my baby when he passed and never felt rushed. The decision as a pet parent to euthanize, is one of the toughest things I have had to experience. This clinic has an amazing and compassionate staff. I’m sure they are tired and overworked at times, but the care they gave my kitty and me, was outstanding. Since this is a 24 hour emergency/walk-in clinic, I imagine the cost could be more than your regular vet and the wait may not be convenient, but they provide an important service to patients and their humans.Thank you, Dr. Brand and staff, for helping me navigate through this horrible day. Your kindness and compassion were phenomenal!

I cannot say enough great things about the staff. Everyone was so kind and knowledgeable as they took care of our cat. He needed emergency surgery and Dr. Payne went above and beyond to find a surgeon to do it. Dr. Ryder came in on his day off to save our kitty. All of the techs and front staff explained everything so thoroughly and I knew he was in great hands. Our cat is recovering nicely and it is all thanks to everyone working together with expertise and professionalism.

So, I took my dog here for an injured leg. I didnt bring an ID as my wallet was in my truck which my wife had in Grand Rapids. Dr. did a visual exam and found no noticeable injury per se and wanted to give her pain medication. She instructed I bring my license back and the medication would be ready by the time my wife could leave work. We drive back to pick it up and surprise, their story changed. Now because they didnt do a full exam and only a visual was done, they werent going to give her any medication. That wasnt our choice! We dont want her in pain. We did exactly what the doctor told us to do. Did the doctor not relay that message?!? The receptionist and security told us there is no one else we could speak with and to call in the morning to speak with their office manager. Meanwhile our dog is still in pain. I will NEVER bring another one of my pets to this chop shop vet. Why wouldnt you still give the examination to diagnose the ailment? Mind you I had a form of payment just not my ID. I truly dont under stand that thought process. Would you go to an emergency room and not get a diagnosis?

This place was great to work with... even though the news wasnt the best. Both cam and Dr. Helmboldt were extremely helpful. They laid out what the issue was and worked with me on what was definitely needed and what could wait so that I could afford the care my pet needed. I could not have asked for a better experience. I want to say thank you again to cam and Dr. Helmboldt for giving lulu and myself great care and very professional... . Definitely recommend !!!!

This is an absolutely wonderful vet clinic. Dr. Ryder took the time to care for my rabbit even though they normally don’t see exotics. Everyone in the clinic is so caring and helpful especially when they are seeing pets and clients under the worst of circumstances normally. The Dr. took the time to really look into my concerns that my bunny broke a leg even when he was confident it was a soft tissue injury. I left feeling that my bunny had the best of care and I would highly recommend. Wait times are long but as this is an emergency clinic it is to be expected. Bring a book and the chairs are super comfy

I felt like my pet had a better chance of surviving in the desert without water. If you want to go to a place where money is their primary concern youve come to the right place. I understand 24 hour emergency clinics cost more than the average vet. I also do not think my bill was outrageous. I simply feel their only concerns are with their finances. They have underlining third party contracts that are more important to them than your pet. Beware.

I was halfway through my 2 hour drive home from the shelter with my new puppy when I noticed there was blood on the puppy pads. I looked at her stomach and there was a gap in it where she tore her stitches from being spayed 2 days earlier. This hospital was thankfully only 5 minutes away from where we had pulled off the highway so I rushed her here and they brought her in right away. They were really reassuring which was so helpful during the stressful situation. She had to stay overnight at the hospital because of long wait times. I brought her in at 4pm and they called me to say her surgery was done around 10:30pm. I was actually pretty happy to wait because it reassured me that her condition wasnt that bad. The surgery was pretty expensive but honestly not as bad as I was expecting for an emergency vet, and they offered to wrap her up so I could bring her to her regular vet but I decided to just go ahead with the surgery for peace of mind. My puppy is also paralyzed in her back legs from being mistreated earlier in her life, and they were very compassionate towards her. I hope we never have to go here again, but I would recommend it to anyone in an emergency situation.

I was afraid to take my cat here after reading all of the negative reviews, but I had no choice. All of the staff I spoke with was very friendly and caring. I did find it odd that they have a security guard; I havent ever been to a vet that has one.I only gave them 4 stars because the exam room we were in wasnt very clean. It wasnt filthy, but there was definitely room for improvement. This in no way affected the care my animal received. They took good care of my cat and had us in and out within 2 hours. Also, the prices were reasonable.Thank you VCA.

I have used VCA several times over the past many many years. No one wants to have to take a pet to the ER. VCA has a high standard of quality and professional staff. A friend had to have a cat put down yesterday. I went along to support. The staff were so caring and gentle with the situation. We were well taken care of and even though it was a very sad situation for my friend, we left feeling we had done the right thing for kitty and the staff at VCA were very compassionate. Thank you for being there for all of us.

Positive experience in a negative situation. I was thoroughly impressed with the service and staff at VCA. After a freak accident with our dog at 7pm I called the office and they were caring from the first conversation. They let me know up front that it would be an extra charge because it was a holiday, as well as a possible wait. When we arrived we waited no more than 15 minutes in which they allowed my husband and I to come in with our dog. The vet tech, Maya, was amazing. She explained everything that the Vet would do in the back then helped us through the paperwork before his surgery. She even took all of my phone calls with questions throughout the night. Dr. Katie Macarth is a wonder woman and went through the procedure thoroughly and called us immediately after she had finished. The front desk would intercept my calls and always ask how my dog was. Not once did I feel like a nuisance and I couldn’t thank them more for the work they did. I will recommend VCA to anyone who is having an animal emergency!

Horrible place. They just want money and would not say what was wrong with our dog just called and said how much things were without saying why our dog needed these tests. The paperwork they sent home with us has nothing on it saying what is wrong with our dog but they sent medication. The bill was almost 800 dollars for what? Medication that we have no idea what its for and have no clue what is wrong with our dog!!! Now we have to take our dog some place else cause they did nothing. There is no place on our dog showing they even drew blood. Of course we have no idea what they did with our dog cause we had to sit in our vehicle due to covid. I can almost guarantee they locked him up in a cage and went and put there feet up on the desk. This place is a scam and needs to be called on. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves for taking advantage of so many families. Do you really care about animals? Looks like you just care about the money.

While sitting in the parking lot waiting for my dog to be treated (3 hours) I watched THREE people leave in tears. Overpriced office, inexperienced & rude staff and neglectful of animals who need care. Its a real shame that this is the emergency vet in the area. Two stars *only* because the girl who answers the phones is helpful and has work ethic.

Our girl, Jester (yep sure lives up to that name) got into somethings and this is one of the 24 hr places our vet recommended. So we were there by 6 am. She was quickly diagnosed and queued up for emergency surgery. Things went very well and we picked our girl up about 430 pm. She is still recovering but we are thankful to them for the service they provide. The techs were great. The communication with us was awesome. The updates really helped us cope.Cost that some mention is high yes, but this is also an emergency vet. Rushing things costs. Overall, was fair though. It may hurt because you just want your baby better but knowing the cost up front is crucial. I do believe they offer care credit that one can apply for.If we, hopefully not though, ever need their services again we will go back. Thank you again.Added photo of some after surgery cuddles.

I would never recommend this place to anyone. Staff is incredible uncaring, unprofessional (actually downright rude in some cases), and absolutely atrocious with communications. As a first time client referred here, we had never been. Asked specifically on the phone as a new customer what to expect, and was never once -- despite 3 advance phone calls -- to expect a SIX to EIGHT HOUR wait (a wait that you MUST remain on site for). This is clearly something to mention on a call (or multiple calls) when the client specifically asks what to expect. When we asked why they didnt prepare us by phone, we were told thats not my job and thats not how we do things here, claiming there was a sign posted on the building on the way in (which doesnt help me coming from 45 minutes away). We spent 2.5 hours in the facility with not one staff member ever once updating us. After 2.5 hours, we were told it could be an 8 hour wait and that in posting a soggy 8.5x11 sign on a side of the building facing AWAY from the front door with this wait notice, we should have been prepared and known this.We should have known something was amiss when we saw 2 different security guards on premises. What vet clinic needs security? This one, I guess. We left with our cat in tow never having spoken to a vet or tech in nearly 3 hours. By the way, one of the security guards ripped the wait sign off the front of the building when we were leaving and shoved it in my face as we left, gruffly yelling HERE! to me.Thankfully the next morning we breezed into another facility, got the urinalysis and culture draw needed in TWELVE minutes. 12 minutes. If you plan to go to VCA, pack an overnight bag, some meals, some work, a phone charger, and be sure to let the babysitter know it might be tomorrow before you see them and your kids again. And be prepared for staff who wont communicate with you and when they do, being treated extremely poorly.

I live an hour away from VCA in Kalamazoo. Up until June all emergency after hours vet hospitals are all 1 hour away from my home. I had an emergency with my dog around 9:50 pm and called VCA for advice. They recommended I call poison control and bring my dog in to induce vomiting. I agreed and notified them I would arrive in 1 hour. They said they understood and sent me an appointment confirmation for 11 pm. Once I finally arrive and call in, they notify me that they actually don’t have the medication to induce vomiting and I would need to take my dog elsewhere. They recommended I take my dog to Grand Rapids. Which is another hour away (so 2 hrs from my home). Or I could leave my dog with them for observation (all they could do for her). I inquired about when she would be seen and they stated they had a 10-12 hr wait time. I was appalled by the lack of professionalism demonstrated by the facility. They could have told me earlier that they didn’t have the medication. ESPECIALLY since I took 1 hr to travel. I really could have avoided going to VCA in the first place and gone to another facility. I understand the wait time (they were going into surgery). But I am confused about the follow through especially since I had a confirmed appt. I did let the receptionist/nurse triage know how disappointed I was (I also did it as respectfully as possible and asked them to reevaluate how they do their procedures/follow ups).thankfully my dog was okay after I took her to another clinic (that night I found out a new clinic had opened up THAT night closer to home). Fast forward to 2 am (I am now at the other clinic closer to home) and I get a call from VCA, asking me if I was still in the parking lot... ??? Do they not take down any notes? How could they not have known that I had left, after I had given them my perspective AND told them during the phone call that I was going elsewhere. It was just bizarre. I’m just glad another clinic has opened up closer to home. Because I DO NOT plan on returning to VCA. The hope other’s experience are different from mine.

If I could give negative stars I would. Do NOT bring your pets here if you love them and need treatment. After bringing our dog to be evaluated for an injury, it became very obvious that the doctor and front office staff do not interact. The doctor told us one thing and the front staff told us a completely different story. Now our dog suffers for their lack of communication. Iseriously wondered why there were aggressive behavior signs were at every door.... The fact that they have the signs should tell you how your visit is going to go. What business does that! Yikes

Everyone was so kind and helped to put us at ease. They took great care of Stella and returned her to us as quickly as possible. Some of the worst communication skills experienced in a while from a business. A tiny lame water-sodden sign hanging on 1 side of the building not near the door is supposed to tell us the wait is 6-8 HOURS. We made three calls to the facility ahead of at which point actually SAYING this to us would have been nice...and professional. We get here, they take our cat, still dont a single thing about bracing for a 6-8 hour wait, then after 2 hours finally tell us about the water-soaked sign we should have seen -after we have to ask whats the hell is going on. After having my dog in this place twice I have found I will never take an animal here to be seen again. I have a small dog that has swallowed something that has left him declining fast. My normal vet, East Main animal hospital, did everything they could to help him. When the decision was made he needed emergency surgery to remove it he sent copies of all the blood work and thing that had been done to this facility. Told us to get him there soon. The two places are minutes away. So in there wisdom they decided to do all the same blood work and tests again before deciding to send him to grand rapids to blue pearl that they would be waiting for him and that he needed an IV and an ultrasound to locate to obstruction. After driving an hour trying to rush Im told by the very kind people at blue pearl that a doctor wont be able to see him until 8 am tomorrow. And that they dont have a surgeon on hand to do surgery if necessary. .... Vca is nothing but a money pit. They have absolutely no compassion for the animals even if they are in serious trouble. 450 dollars to be told to rush to grand rapids for nothing. I hope and pray some one shuts this place down. We unfortunately had to take our 1yr old cat, Bella, here in April 2021 after she suddenly started having trouble breathing. We called and despite a 4hr wait amid a pandemic for emergent visits, they got her in immediately given the severity of her condition. We weren’t able to be inside because of COVID but the vet was calling frequently with updates, and even texted us photos of imaging to be able to ensure we could be as informed as possible with what was going on, to be able to make the best decisions. Unfortunately our Bella’s condition was quite bad, and with fluid around her lungs that wasn’t able to be removed without additional surgery, the prognosis was quite grim. The vet allowed us to ask every question, gave us so many options to consider and helped tremendously during this time. The hard decision came that we had to let her go. We were allowed to come inside into a private room to be with her, and allowed time with her before saying our final goodbye privately. The vet was the most compassionate and caring as she explained the process, as we had never had to let a pet go like this before. It helped SO much to know that she wasn’t in pain, and to her, she was just falling asleep in my arms. I’m still a tearful mess about it. After, I was allowed to sit with her alone until I was ready. They placed her into a beautiful box for us to take home, and they offered a free paw print casting as well that they did before we left. It’s a keepsake I will always cherish of our sweet baby girl. A few weeks later, a card came in the mail from the staff and the vet, with their condolences for our loss. I lost it all over again but honestly, that was above and beyond. It meant SO much to us to get that card. Thank you for doing everything you could to try and save our little girl, and to help us make the best decision we could. We are so grateful for your staff during one of the hardest things we’ve had to do this year.

The only good thing about this place is the vet techs and the front desk staff. Dr.Payne made us feel terrible and judged that we were at a point where we needed the emergency vet. If you can go to Blue Pearl or an emergency vet in East Lansing do so. Our dog had been vomiting bile for 2 weeks, we changed her diet, she started vomiting her food last night, and this morning had diarrhea with blood. Dr.Payne would not let me answer his questions without him interrupting with a new question. His questions ranged from “why didn’t you take her to your regular vet,” “why did you wait,” to making us feel bad that we did not move forward with a full diagnostic panel for 1300 dollars. They have signs posted that they will not take aggressive behavior from humans throughout the office, but the vets are allowed to have terrible bed side manner. If you can go elsewhere, I highly recommend doing so.

We had to pay upfront for the surgery but due to people not paying for services afterword that only makes sense. I wanted to say they called before surgery during surgery and after surgery. They called us in the am at every lab, and sent pictures of our baby via text. They loved and treated our dog like she was their own. Our baby came out of surgery and came home today. We are not out of the woods yet but we are way better then I thought she would be. And even if she makes a turn for the worse I do know that this vet Dr Katie & others made sure they did all they could for her. It’s solely up to her now to heal the damage done. She is very clean and the staff friendly and understanding in an extremely high stressful situation we waited only mins to get her in and get her going and stabilized I would go to this ER again, above all others. I was not allowed in the building and only had a phone call with the him. The wait time was not long and the staff was friendly. When the he called me to give me an update, he said that it appears that your cat has some trauma to a possible fall. He said he checked his legs and and they seemed sore and he did not feel x-rays were necessary. When I asked him again are you sure we shouldnt do xrays? he told that he believed the injury was muscular and they were not necessary at this time. The discharge paperwork said that I declined services. He said that that he did a full body check and found no scratches or bites. The following day my cat felt very warm and still had not moved. I returned to the emergency and he was seen by Dr. Ryder. He found several bite and scratch marks all over the back of my cat. He had to be sedated and stitched. I returned home and monitored him. I took his temp and counted his breaths per minute. On Baby theo still had not moved. He had not eaten or gone to the bathroom or drank any liquids. I called the emergency vet THREE times and gave them details of what what was going on. Each time I spoke to a different person. They all assured me that it was normal and he was recovering. On Monday Morning I came downstairs to my sweet cat laying in an odd position on a shelf. He was so cold. I rushed him to the vet again and he was seen by Dr. Payne. By this point I was told there was nothing that could help my cat..he was put down that day. I am sickened that he could still be here had Dr. Biggs done a full examination. How were 20 bites and scratches missed? Why were xrays not needed if he had head trauma. Had he done a more intensive look over and discovered all of the bites and scratches or done xrays or an ultra sound, my sweet cat may still be here. He suffered for three days. I had to tell my 4 year old that her best friend didnt make, after we had promised her he was in good hands. If you use this vet make sure EVERYTHING is being done, that needs to be done. I am so upset with myself for not questioning the lack of examination or findings on Friday for a cat that was clearly in distress.I am not sure why the discharge notes said that I declined services, when services were not recommended. I am question every detail from my Friday visit and just wish I had done more. Attached are pictures of my sweet peanut. The scratches and bite marks are what were found on the SECOND trip to the ER. I would love a detailed breakdown of the check up and an answer as to why more wasnt done that night. When you take your little buddies you trust the person taking care of them. Had Dr. Biggs said I think we should do Xrays I absolutely would have been on board. and my buddy may still be here or at least would have had some answers.

They told us they were not going to preform tests on our dog and that he needed to be put down. We called our local vet and they told the doctor here to check the dogs ears. He had an ear infection. Our dog had an ear infection and they tried to make us put him down. They were talking to us as if we are dumb and neglect our dog, they also accused us of never taking our dog to the vet. We are very unhappy with their service and will not be returning. Ever.

I brought my sweet boxer, Yona here late Monday night on 6/28/21. He was suffering from a seizure. They took him in, but my son and I were told to wait in the car. Despite covid restrictions being lifted in MI we were not able to be with our boy to comfort him in his time of distress. I had to give them my credit card info for a $1500.00 deposit. The vet on staff that night did allow us to visit Yona before we went home for the night, which I appreciate. Yona was doing well, was stable, though disoriented from the seizure which he stated was common. He told me he would call me throughout the night if there were any changes and assured me no news was good news. But that I would hear from the morning doctor around 9am for an update. I never got a call overnight so come 9am when my phone rang from Dr. Brand, I assumed all was well. But she started the call with an attitude and was cold and heartless. She informed me he had seizures through out the night. And when I said I never got a call, she said it was because they are busy. She told me the best interest option is to euthanize Yona. I asked if we could see him, she said only if we chose to come say goodbye. I begged for more options. I was not ready to lose our boy. He had only been given Keppra. She could try another, for another $1500.00 deposit. So I was transferred to the front desk for that and then back to Dr. Brand who said she would administer the phenobarbital and call me later in the day. She called me 1 hour later to tell me it wasnt working and that I should come and put him down. When my son and I got there they put us in a room and brought Yona to us. He was clearly crying, but not seizing like she stated on the phone. She told me he was blind now, had cognitive issues and most likely brain damage, would never recover. She said he had a brain tumor, because it is common in boxers over age 5. She had no proof of that though, because no imaging had been done. So she was assuming. A part of me felt like she was not being honest with us, but we did proceed to letting our boy go across the rainbow bridge. We chose to have our boy cremated and his ashes returned to us.3 days later, I get a call from someone at VCA, as I am in the hospital with my dying grandmother. They want to know what I want to do with his body. I tell them this has already been determined. She said they lost the paperwork. This was very unprofessional and I hope that they learn to keep better track of things now because as Yonas owner, it was traumatizing to go through again. I waited to post this review until I had my boys ashes returned to me. Which was also another fiasco going to get as I was not allowed in due to covid. It was over $2,000 for a little over 12 hours of trying to save my boy. I would do it again in a heartbeat, SOMEWHERE ELSE, where we would hopefully be treated with more compassion. Dr. Brand is the most unprofessional, heartless individual I have ever come across in this field and I dont think Yona got a fair chance. I just hope he forgives me in heaven for giving up on him.

Today, it was a extremely busy place at VCA. I would say everyone is helpful and the doc is professional. I think all of you should know that they take patients in critical order first, so plan on waiting for hours. By the time the Vet connected with my I felt that the exam was any great shake and some of the intake info didnt get to her. I decided to get x-rays done. I received a call later that the x-ray machine isnt working correctly. So I know they are working hard, but as much as they are charging their process should be about quality of care and equipment. I shouldnt have to hear you need x-rays but the machine is not working. Couldnt that have been fired up when people arrive at work and a tech on site to correct? I am hopeful the xray machine will turn around by 3:00 as I noted after waiting 5 hours that I wanted to pick my dog up at 3:00 if the xray machine wasnt fixed. Everyone agreed. Credit back for xrays. So everyone was on page for that. My comment for Management.. IF YOU are going to charge top dollar for care- everything should be in working condition to deliver the best service. Hoping the best for the remainder of the day. Again everyone seems nice enough! Will share with you what happens.

Our dog was hit on the road by our house on a Sunday, and the nearest emergency vet clinic that was open was VCA. Luckily, they were only an hour away from us. From the moment we arrived, the staff was very kind, understanding, and gentle with Nala. They got her looked at right away and didn’t waste any time.Because of Covid, we had to wait in our car and be updated via phone, but the vets were very responsive and communicative. They explained everything really well and made sure to answer all of our questions. When we were told Nala would have to stay the night for monitoring, they allowed us to come in and say goodbye to her until the next day. They told us they typically don’t allow anyone to do that, but they were willing to make an exception for us, and it made such a difference being able to see our baby girl before we left. When we got home, one of the vet techs sent me a picture of Nala with an IV and all snuggled up in blankets and said she was doing great. That text and picture meant the world to us. We definitely rested a little easier that night.VCA went one step farther. It just so happened that our electricity went out on the day we were supposed to pick up Nala, so we couldn’t get the garage door to open. I called VCA and asked them if a family member who lived by Kalamazoo could pick Nala up for us. They told me it was not a problem and made arrangements quickly and easily, no hassle. From the first moment Nala arrived at the vet clinic to the last, she was treated with love and so much care. We are so very appreciative of all the staff who worked with us and all their efforts to make sure Nala was taken care of.

The worst of them all was Sandra, not sure what her title is, but she should not have any interaction with people EVER, especially when the family is going through the horrible process of euthanizing a loved family member! How long is the wait? She said, “4-6 hours” (again, in a rude tone). No explanation on if it’s first come first serve or appointment or anything. So I hung up and called other places. As a local rescue director, I cannot say enough about how much I appreciate the Emergency Vet. We are LUCKY to have them so close to us and available anytime we need them!! It is unfortunate that they have to tolerate ABUSE, threats and bullying from people who dont understand how animal laws work in Kalamazoo... People seek help from the emergency vet when they (and their animal) are in the worst conditions and emotions are high, but berating staff who are just trying to do their jobs and take care of animals is UNACCEPTABLE. They have NO control over animal laws, or the policies of their parent company. Thank you all for your caring and compassion for our animals, and for being there when we need you!

My dog was hit by a car on a Friday night so we called them being the closest place but still 45 minutes away. He couldn’t walk and his mouth was bleeding. They told us bring him up right away and call us and we’ll come out and get him. Three hours later we get a call from the doctor that we are going to give him pain medication now and take X-rays and check to see if he has internal injuries and it will cost this much. I’ll send you up to the front desk and when she lets me know you paid we’ll get started. He had been there three hours with no pain medication...,THREE hours. I paid the amount and the outcome was he had a broken pelvis and socket plus a tooth broken off. We brought him home that night and in the morning went to the Fort Wayne animal emergency and they immediately put him on an IV with pain meds and sedatives. I get they’re busy but then they could have told us that and we would have gone elsewhere. Any internal bleeding and he would have laid there in agony and bled to death waiting to be looked at. It would have only taken us an extra half hour to go to Fort Wayne or MSU and they would have brought him right in. My dog shakes and hides from everyone at the clinic now. He used to love everyone. BEWARE if you bring your dog here, make sure they at least deal with their pain while they are waiting.

I am heartbroken. My puppy wasn’t feeling well and I was out of town in Chicago for the weekend. I called and asked them if it would be ok for my pet sitter to bring in my puppy in and I could pay with my Care Credit card. The woman I spoke to said that shouldn’t be a problem and even sent me an appt for 2am. My pet sitter arrived and the woman (who was different from before) answered the phone and said that due to it being a holiday weekend the price was more to be seen $195. She then gave me an estimate of what I would be looking at. And when I mentioned using my care credit she said they aren’t doing that over the phone and they have no one there that knows how to use the device for Care Credit so I had to find a different way to pay. I agreed to then pay with my debit card as my price was just under $500 for a Parvo test and the office visit. The dr called me and said that my puppy has Parvo and would require either hospitalization (which he states would be a 90% survival rate) or home care (30-50% survival rate). I immediately opted for the hospitalization. He quoted me a large range in pricing which ended up being 2850-3500. Being in Chicago and them having a “Skelton crew” as one of the women there referred to it as I asked that I could pay 600 and drive home first thing in the morning to pay the rest because they wanted 2800 up front or no additional treatment could be done. The dr agreed to this and then called back a few mins later and said that sorry I have to have the 2800 immediately or they would be sending him home. I begged him to just keep him there and start treating him and I would be home in 2 1/2 hours to pay the 2800 as needed. He still declined and said you can always bring him back when you get home and have the payment. They then sent him home with the pet sitter having gave him hydration and anti nausea med. My puppy passed away a few hours later just before I reached home. I am disgusted with the fact this was all about money and no one could operate a credit card machine that prevented my puppy from getting treatment he desperately needed. And the fact I was told 4 different things by 3 different people in the matter of 2hrs. If this is how this business operates I feel so sorry for all the pets and their loved ones because this isn’t right.

Took a sick cat there that vomited, wasnt eating, wasnt using the litter box, and felt very warm. I couldnt get into my regular vet. As I expected the cat was running a high fever. They did an exam and said they couldnt find anything and wanted to do blood-work and x-rays. I gave them approval to do that. They called back and said they still couldnt find a cause, except that the cats pancreas looked different on the x-ray and they thought it might be pancreatitis. They had a test for that so I gave them approval for that. It came back negative and they said that didnt guarantee that he didnt have it. They suggested that I leave the cat there overnight, at a cost of approximately $1,500 on top of the $1,000 I had already spent. I told them I wanted to take the cat home. The bill was $10 short of $1,200. The next day the cat was a little better but I took him to my regular vet anyway. They called me 10 minutes after getting the cat from my car to let me know that he no longer had a fever and they had found the cause of his illness. He had a GIGANTIC abscess in his right armpit. They shaved it and drained it. They also did an x-ray to check out his abdomen since he still hadnt used the litter box. That looked normal and they said hed probably start using it again once he feltbetter and was eating more. Total bill was $120. I find it REALLY hard to believe that the abscess wasnt detectable during the initial examination at VCA but my regular vet found it during an examination 24 hours later.Update: i contacted them as requested. The person I was instructed to contact didnt know anything about my post and said shed have to get back to me. She contacted me several days later and told me my case needed to be reviewed by the medical director who was out of town, but he would look into it when he got back the following week. Ive heard nothing, so I suspect these replies to complaints feigning interest in a customers satisfaction are just an attempt to make people think they take complaints seriously, which they dont.

I called on Saturday night because my cat (only 3.5 years) was not eating, drinking, and looked very sick. They told me to come down and give them a call when I arrived. After getting details, I gave my cat to one of the vets (this is during the ongoing pandemic so I could not go in). They called after 30 minutes to give me an update. My cat needed surgery for a blocked intestine. They worked with me on my budget, and the emergency vet who performed the surgery talked to me extensively about his procedure. The staff all seemed to care so much, and kept me updated the entire time. It wasn’t cheap, but emergency procedures are hardly ever inexpensive. However, they offered me several options for reducing the cost of the tests and operation/overnight stay. If I had gone anywhere else I wouldn’t have been able to afford my cat’s surgery. He’s alive and recovering super well thanks to this clinic.

Last night i unexpectedly had to say goodbye to my loving cat. The staff were diligent in trying to do everything they could to save her but with my decision and some input of the big picture I couldn’t let her suffer and know that they did or would have done everything to save her! The staff is amazing with the care they take for not only their pet care and concern but with the sympathy to the owner. I was not felt rushed or pressured into doing something I wasn’t comfortable with deciding myself and I am thankful for them especially this difficult time globally! I 100% recommend anyone to them with emergency need to feel confident that every measure will be taken with your pets best interest in mind! Thank you so much staff for being there for me in the hardest decision I have ever had to make. I will miss her and remember her always. But that also goes for the care I received and she received from you guys! Keep up the amazing work. Much thanks from Justin & Persephone!
