I had to have a hand rail installed down to my basement. Heather made scheduling easy. James came to install the hand rail and did an awesome job. He was on time, very polite, and got the rail installed despite a problem with the wall. Heather also gave me a call afterward to make sure I was happy with the job that was done. Im very grateful for my rail installation and the great Customer Service I received. I will definitely use them again and would recommend them to anyone who needs a good job done.

*Update*I requested to have a small step backdoor deck to be repaired after noticing some boards were becoming unstable. I put in a request for a quote and within 24 hours the office came back and scheduled for someone to estimate the potential project. Michael was knowledgeable and had good input for what they might do. After the estimate I was able to easily make addition to my original request. I was able to communicate entirely by phone and emails. During the day of the project, the tech/Greg arrived as soon estimate of their start time. They were professional and friendly individual. Greg made sure the additional request from the original was to my liking and explained the only necessary build to make it work. Overall I was satisfied and pleased how the deck looks! I would recommend using Mr. Handyman for projects!

Although a bit expensive, the company and specific repairman, Rich, are amazing in getting here quickly, doing the work beautifully and being so helpful. Ive used them before now and will continue to use them!

We had a window that wouldn’t stay open and needed replaced. Rich came out and replaced our window. He did an amazing job!

We scheduled a site visit with Mr Handyman for door installation and few other items. After they visited they said they will give us a quote within a week. It’s been almost 3 weeks now and we didn’t hear anything back from them and gave them many calls and left them voice message. Never got back to us! We needed the work to be done in time for holidays and they absolutely wasted our time. Can’t imagine what working with them would be like! Not professional at all! Won’t recommend!P.S. (Added as a reply to the Mr. Handyman’s response to my review): it was under my spouse’s name, Hady. We had Mike Tilley from Mr. Handyman to visit our place and supposed to give us a quote within a week. It’s already the last day of November and Mike told us that he can give of the quote early November and finish the work by the end of November. Still no contact from Mr. Handyman’s office regarding the quote. If you can totally miss and forget about a potential customer that had you visit their house and miss all the calls from them that tells a lot about your business and quality of the work. I wish the person replying to my review would have taken half that time to return one of my calls. Poorly handled!

Paid a lot of money to have my bathroom redone! To have the next year mold started growing all over my ceiling and now five years later mold is all over the walls the floor the ceiling and it’s so bad I can’t even use my bathroom!

My kitchen ceiling had water damage from a leaking roof. I thought it would need the drywall replaced, they showed me that it was just cosmetic. They did a beautiful job. They also replaced the mesh on my sliding door. They noticed it didnt slide well so they adjusted it.They also installed new gutters. I will definitely use Mr. Handyman again.

I called and spoke to Chris about some work needed for my new home based on the home inspection before the sale. He was very friendly and was able to get someone out the same day due to a cancellation. Greg came to my home and not only told me that the work wasnt needed (things were already working perfectly), but was also extremely helpful and knowledgeable about several other questions I had about my new home and some minor projects in thinking about doing. I was happy to pay the basic service call fee for such helpful service, even if the original problem didnt need fixing! I will definitely be calling Mr. Handyman again about those other projects soon! 😁

Great work, quick to complete the job, getting the job scheduled was slightly difficult but I do have a full time job. Price seemed slightly steep but will consider use again due to efficiency of work.

I had submitted a project on their website and was told via email someone would be contacting me. That was 6/3. A week later, I responded to the email that no one has contacted me. Later that day, Heather left me a voicemail stating they would like to talk about my project. I returned the phone call and left a voicemail to call back again. I haven’t heard anything since. I guess they don’t need my business. It would have been nice to know that instead of waiting for them to tell me. Actions speak louder than words, or in this case, inaction.

Our office needed a few random repairs and maintenance. Mike arrived promptly ready to address our concerns and fixed what needed fixed. Highly recommend and well be calling on them again!!

True north hired them to replace 4 exterior doors on our house on the day they were scheduled to replace them the technician showed up with the doors late left the doors in the garage then did not return to start on the doors for 3 days tried calling the company left messages no one answered finally someone got back 2 Days Later and said that the technician would be hear the following day and the technician showed up 4 hours late and started on the doors managed to take one of the doors out but then said he had to run and ended up putting the door back in instead of putting the new one in said he would be back the following morning didnt show up until the following evening started on one door that he previously started on replace that door then said he would be back the following morning to do the others didnt show back up for two more days after calling the company said that the technician called in due to a headache then finally came out started on the remaining three doors and never finished putting the trim back around the doors preferably it is still not around the doors called the company after the technician had left and said he was going to be back the following morning and never showed up then the owner showed up himself and did the storm door on the front that never got done but never finished the trim around all the doors so now I have to find somebody else to do the trim would not recommend them takes way too long to complete it and dont do it the proper way

My wife called here in the summer of 2019, and after receiving initial contact from them, she could never get a follow-up response to get work done at our house.Here we are months later, and we tried again for a couple of different projects. She calls in and asks for service in St. Joseph, and she is told they dont have anyone who works in St. Joseph, nor could they refer us to anyone that does. How is that possible when the name of your company is Mr. Handyman of Kalamazoo-St. Joseph??!!

1. From early January 2018: Max is doing an amazing job working on our 104 year old house building a wall. 2. Later update from very late Jan 2018: So Mr Handyman kept working on our house doing the next project, which was to rip out a very large tile shower in our upper level and turn it into a laundry area. It turned out to be a very very involved project, very difficult, challenging at times. And to get to the point, Mr. Handymans two workers, Max and Matthew were simply wonderful! They showed up, got to it, and got it done over the course of a few weeks. Often their boss, Mike, who I believe is the owner of the company, would often stop by and check in to monitor the project. We just got the washer and dryer into today, and it looks simply amazing! We are really happy now as the project is wrapping up. Also, the two employees, Matthew and Max were wonderful, calm, patient, soft-spoken great presences to have in the house around our children and pets. I almost started to look forward to seeing them in the morning when they showed up just to say hi to them! If you want a company you can have confidence in, and who is larger than just a small handyman, insured and all that, with very fair prices, and stellar workers, this is the company.

I contacted them about specific jobs I needed done: replace roof vent cover, reattach bottom rail for skirting to the cement, change outside light fixtures, repair screen on back porch. The man came out - very nice - and the frustration began. He said he wasnt allowed on the roof due to insurance issues. He didnt have the drill and bit he needed to do the skirting. And he couldnt figure out how to repair the screen. (All he needed to do was gently remove the white cover strip and repair it like you would any other screen.) He did change out the six outside light fixtures. He had a few minutes left, so I had him glue a couple pieces of trim inside my home. I would never have hired them had I known they could not do the work!! So for the work that was done, it cost me $443 after the $50 off coupon. And he left his ladder in my back yard, I let the company know the following day, and was still there a week later. I would never hire this company again!!

Recently, I was renovating/finishing my basement and was in need Dry Wall Instillation. I called around to 3 services in the Kalamazoo area. Mike (owner) of Mr. Handyman had a very competitive quote. I had a strict deadline to start work within the next week once framing was completed. Mike, was able to deliver a quote the next day, and just like that we had an agreement to do business. Mike, was very attentive, and easy to get a hold of as was Dawn at the office. They both communicated all the details, of when the hangers would come, then the finishers as well. During the construction of the project, Mike was extremely helpful with Construction questions from a DYIr. After the finishing of the dry wall was complete, there were a 3 super small areas size of a quarter that needed a touch up (which after doing nearly 800 sq of walls and ceiling, is very good margins). Mike sent his guys back to sand the areas, and gave it his seal of approval.I highly recommend Mike and his team for Dry Wall services.

The repairman arrived ahead of schedule. I was not home, but he took the initiative to get the outdoor repair done and even cleaned up debris to finish the job. Great work.He also left me a phone message explaining what has happened and what he had done. Very thorough.

Friendly service but took too long to do the job on top of being over an hour late. Spent $400 to get locks changed on 4 doors. Then another $200 for a screen door installation. $600 for a screen door and some locks? No. Great guy but with the hourly rate and the length of time taken to complete the tasks it was not worth the money. Also, took days to get my invoice.

I hired Mr. Handyman to clean out the gutters and to replace a piece of siding near the roof. I was charged 2.5 hours to clean the gutters and 2.5 hours to replace a piece of siding that was 1 foot. I called to discuss why it took so long to put 1 piece of siding up and was told they would call me back after talking with the technician. Never heard from them. I called a second time to discuss the issue and offered to pay for the gutters and the rest once I had talked with someone. I was told they do not accept partial payments and would have some call me. Never called. After the third time of the same thing, I paid the bill since I was threatened it would go to collections.Would not recommend: Overcharge; no communication2.5 hours to put up a foot of siding; no communication despite several calls

Used the company and never got what I asked for. The first contractor said he was done with my walls and still had holes and it was not smoothed out. Owner wanted to argue about patching is the same as skim coat. Sent out another contractor to patch. He spent three days there and still have cracks in the wall. If they did the skim coat, all of this would have been hidden. Had other problems as well. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!

Mr. Handyman provided excellent service when I was getting my house ready to sell. They completed inspection needs in a timely, proficient, and friendly manner. Staff communicated as needed and promptly returned my calls. I highly recommend their services.

Scheduled an appointmet for a Tuesday evening. I had to leave work on a very busy day to keep my appointment. I called two hours before my appointment to confirm my appointment. No one from the office ever called me back. Called again once I got home, this company is apparently so big they hire people from an answering service to take calls. All the said both times is that they would reach out to the office to have someone call me. I even called the owner. No responses. This was my FIRST appointment with this company. I am very seriously looking into remodeling and wanted to choose a local company. I will NOT be going forward with this company. And I do not recommend anyone else should either. They do not care about new customers.

I had used Mr. Handyman (SBN office) to do some work at another home and was pleased with the work AND the price, so I hired Mr Handyman/ Kalamazoo to repair a gaping hole in my wall left by an electrician. Matt re-drywalled and built a hinged door over the new breaker box. The work is fine. Obviously he is a skilled carpenter and very detail oriented. My reason for 1 star is the price was much (WAY MUCH) higher than I expected or than it should have been. Great work, but totally overpriced. I paid over $700 for basically what was a door no bigger than a kitchen cabinet door. I have shown what was done to several friends and they all said the same thing - I was robbed. I wish I would have gotten a quote for the repairs beforehand (lesson learned the hard way). I actually was going to have more projects done, but after receiving the bill I cancelled. If budget is not an issue, I would say go ahead and try them. If like most of us, you are on a budget - this is definitely not the place to go. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE, and everyone I know has been warned about their ridiculous pricing also.

I was pleased by the workmanship, job done quickly at a fair price. Storm came up mid job, technician waited it out in his truck (no charge) so he would be able to finish that day. I was impressed by the commitment.

The initial call was a great experience. Rick had wonderful customer service, was thorough, and returned my call immediately. I made an appointment for the following week but no one ever showed up or even called to cancel. Even after calling and leaving a message on Mike Tillys voicemail I still have not heard from this company. Not sure what happened but I will never use this company or recommend them to anyone else. Very disappointing.

Looking to purchase and install some retractable screen doors in our home. HomeAdvisor recommended Mr. Handyman who called in less than 24 hours. I explained what I needed and they informed me that it had been some time since they installed this type (I really didnt believe them) and they would call me back with an estimate. They never called back. Too bad. We have more projects and will not return to Mr. Handyman. Just had three screen doors installed from Phantom Retractable Screens from Lansing and just love them.

After seeing such great reviews online we decided to reach out to Mr. Handyman to have our main bathroom remodeled. So we schedule an appointment with the owner in late August. He calls to cancel and reschedule 2 maybe 3 hours before the appointment time. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, even after my wife and I had to completely juggled around our schedules as they are not very flexible with there times.( So if you work a 9-5 monday-friday good luck even getting a quote.) Long story short we reschedule 2 more times, and sure enough 2 hours before our appointment they called and cancelled both times wanting to reschedule. We gave them three chances. Never once did they come through. Very poor scheduling skills, and a lot of incompetence within this company. Hopefully the next person has better luck then we did. As for there quality of work I cant weigh in on as they couldnt even manage to show up to their appointments. Great way to do business when someone is willing to pay you for your services.

I contracted Mr. Handyman to complete a laundry list of repairs at a rental property. The visit confirmation did not detail the items to be fixed and several were missed. The invoicing was extremely confusing and didnt detail costs for labor and materials. I paid the first invoice only to find out it was wrong and I owed them more money. The final cost ended up being 50% more than the original estimate and it took 2 months, several hours of phone calls, and visiting their office to have the mistake explained. Even though their invoice was wrong, they refused to meet at 5:30pm to accommodate my work schedule and threatened legal action if I didnt meet in person during normal business hours or pay the invoice in full without explanation.Very frustrating because I was excited to find a local one stop shop handyman service for the many things that go wrong with a rental property and even planned to use them for a remodel project at my personal home. The workmanship was great, but the rest of the experience was miserable. I will not be using them again.

I worked for mr handyman. The owner will have your best interest at heart. There is short comings like every place, but if you need a handyman you should call them.

They sent a guy out to look at what i needed done said he would get me a quote. One week later i called to see what was taking so long for quote was told they would get right back to me waited two more days had to call again was told he is very busy and would call me soon.it has now been two weeks and no call back.left work to meet this guy was half an hour late and wasted my time.Would NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS.

I called Mr. Handyman of Kalamazoo-St. Joseph on a Friday and the following Monday. In addition I sent a message on their web site. I had black smoke coming from my electric outlet to the garbage disposal. It is 4 business days later, with no response. No one answering their phones!!!
