If I could put zero stars I definitely would… mishaps with how things were handled with my unit and lack of getting Information across to me. There was a fire that happened to my side of my unit. I was out of town so I couldn’t go check on it as I usually do. Come to find out there was a fire and I had no idea until I got to my unit and was not able to even get into my unit. I was supposed to move the next day and no one ever got back to me. Cherry on top, the fire happened on a Sunday, didn’t know until I showed up on Thursday… would’ve been great to find out this information ahead of time. Now I have to move into an empty apartment because all my belongs are there still, unable for me to get.

Literally choose any other storage place. The manager I spoke with was very unprofessional, confessing to how dirty and unsafe she thought the place was. There was a fire on Sunday night and no one can go into the building and NO ONE will answer and the customer service line says “I’m sorry we have no update” each time I call. I was screamed at when I first called and was told I was sent an email about the fire- I did not get an email. I called the fire marshall and consumers energy- it is all Five Star Store it right now they have no excuses. They are practically holding everyone’s stuff hostage right now. Trust me when I say chose any other storage place. Totally shady and disrespectful unprofessional staff.

Extremely unprofessional and poor communication. Due to a fire in one of the units on August 16th, we have not had access to our unit, which I understand. I have received two letters from them and that has been it. There has been no clear indication of when we are able to retrieve our belongings. You can not call the location, and they have not responded to my email, and no one is in the office.

This place is shady! Nobody ever answers the phone & then they act like its an inconvenience for them. The gal Linda that works @ the sites is rude & condescending. They just had a fire @ 1 of their buildings @ 501 E. Mich Ave, & NOT 1 person was available on site to talk w/ anyone. When I get through this, I will NEVER rent a unit from them again!!!!

Ive been renting a unit for a year and I dislike the location. My unit was broke into and robbed alot of my belongings. But it was repaired when Todd the manager emailed me and told me about it. Thank god everyone pays extra for insurance. The fence was cut and thats how the thieves got into it. But the fence is not a chain link fence anymore. Its Iron.

Changed my gate code without telling me.

About a year ago, my life was hectic and my living situation was not the best at the time. I often times throughout the day, week and month will frequent my unit to retrieve needed items or just to drop things off that I dont need at the time. And let me tell you this, the ONE (1) thing that has kept me with 5 Star Store It, is over this last year the customer service by the office manager, whose name is Todd is exceptional. This man is always wearing a smile, and always willing to help out when and where needed. Very informative about the establishment and pricing, and also willing to go the extra mile to locate a unit for you that may be closer to your residence so your commute wont be out of the way. His attitude and demeanor are really customer service driven and I just want you to know, that when you when it comes to why I stayed with 5 Star Store It, for so long its because they have a great management team and GREAT Prices too. I will/would highly recommend this establishment for all your storing needs. BEST IN TOWN!

After renting a storage unit for 5 months I come upon a hardship and there’s nothing Tom can do to help me but steady adding charges to my account! Only thing he has to say is when all the fees will be added and after 45 days my unit will go up for auction! But when I first rented the unit Tom stated that if we were going to be late just come talk to him and explain the situation! But he didn’t help with me after paying for my unit on time for 5 months there no help when I come upon a hard time! So don’t use there service and I was also got a $20 discount to write a good review on Five Star Store It but after experiencing The service I will not be back

First off, the man working isnt in the office during scheduled hours. He says hes most definitely in the office from 10-11am, yet the hours state 10-3:30pm. Your are directed to use the kiosk to set up a rental, but that will malfunction, and the customer service people from the kiosk direct you to call the manager, who isnt there, not does he answer the phone during normal business hours. Even if you do use the kiosk, you have to wait for the lock to be removed before you can move into your unit. They advertise half off the first three months, yet require you to pay that three months in advance. They also require you to buy insurance. Also, there are homeless people living in the storage units. I personally witnessed three coming and going as I sat at the office for an hour trying to deal with renting a unit. After finally getting a hold of the manager, he said I was accusatory. Simple fact is he is not in the office during normal business times, nor does he answer or return calls during those times. This place and the one on gull road are run by the same manager. I wouldnt feel save leaving my belongings at either place.

I recommend this place to anyone, I dealt with Todd and he made sure I got what I needed, and told me everything I need to know about the storage unit he was very respectful and patience, I called everywhere in Kalamazoo for a unit and this company was one of the ones that directed me to a another location of theres that was affordable and Efficient . Thanks again guys

Just an average storage facility. Someone who works there inadvertantly put a lock on our storage unit so I was unable to access it and there was no one on site to open it, therefore, a wasted trip.

New mgmt and they helped me every step of my way to get better service and quality served thank u!!

Site manager very helpful. Rented here previosly wasnt satisfied that has definitely changed. Feel very secure about storing my lifes possessions here..

I did have a little trouble gettin access to my unit past 11pm. It said access denied! I needed my tools and materials at midnight because I had to travel 5+ hours in order to meet the deadline of 6 am. Im upset because I liked this place and never had issues until that night. I try to find reasons to like the place, but It really did cost me a lot of money by denying access due to being so late!!.. The job I missed was the icebreaker job and was supposed to pave the way for a scheduled contract with walgreens! To get down to brass tax here it cost me, $4,000 every 6 weeks! Like how can I be happy saying that this place cost me an entire contract of $4,000 every 6 weeks.!? If anyone else has this issue I will tell you what I wish I wouldve thought about! ........... I wish I wouldve jumped the fence and made the gate open because it will always let you out just not always let you in!! ;) But The place is nice and clean and quiet.. The units do not have electricity ran to them unfortunately. Andre unit#35

Management is extremely rude, Not helpful, Registered my On file payment Method for Autopay without my permission.This guy talks like a con artist buyer beware.I have been storing there for about 5 years but now since the new management has taken over as soon as the weather break I will be finding a new storage facility.

Overall its a good place to rent and store your personal belongings. They are continuously making improvements, ecspecially since the last owners didnt car.
