Adam is very friendly, down to earth, and professional. He and his staff did whatever they could to make an expensive brake job more manageable. I appreciated their honestly and transparency. Will definitely be going back for all of my auto maintenance, and would highly recommend them to anyone.

Reposted from my original yelp review:I initially went to Shoemakers since the mechanic from a recent trip to Toyota for an unrelated service said I had a leaky axel seal so I went to Shoemakers because they were much closer to my home. Shoemakers looked at the report then upon further inspection (cleaned under the car, then attempted to drive it around so they can see whether it would leak) found that there was actually no leak at all! They are very thorough in their care for the car and took the time to explain everything to me, they saved me from having to pay for an expensive and unnecessary service I would have had at Toyota.They are incredibly friendly and courteous even offering to drive me home after they found out i was planning on walking in -9 degree weather. I will be back and Shoemakers will be my go to mechanic.Since then I have continued to use Shoemakers as my go to mechanic for general maintenance. Their prices are very fair and service is quick. They have continued to be professional and courteous. I recommend them highly to everyone!

Always have had great service here. Staff is very friendly and they take time to go over the repairs with you to make sure you understand why the repairs were needed. Great communication throughout the process too. Sometimes hard to get in right away because of how busy they are but the reason they are busy is because they are good! I wouldnt go anywhere else for my automotive needs.

These guys have serviced my Moms car for better than 20 years. Had to recently put my Mom in a nursing home, and needed to get Moms car serviced one last time before I put it up for sale. When I came to pick the car up Gary asked about my Mom and was genuinely concerned about her. They not only offer top notch service and repairs, they make you feel like you are part of their family.

Desperately called 12/20/19 after my car was violently shaking and felt super unsafe to drive. They was busy but told me if I could bring it over they would do their best to fit it in, prior to Xmas.Everyone I spoke to was extremely polite and understanding as well as professional. They assessed my car and told me what needed to be done and what was recommended. There was no pressure to have them fix everything and I ended up having them fix the stuff I could afford leaving some minor stuff to be changed by myself to save money. The pricing seemed very reasonable and compared to other places was significantly cheaper. They had my car fixed over the weekend and Im extremely happy with results.Will definitely be using for all future auto needs definitely going to be my go to shop.Recommened.Thanks a bunch guys

If what you want is high quality work done by professionals at a fair price, this place is for you. Adam and the guys just finished a major brake/suspension overhaul for my Silverado, and now the vehicle rides and brakes perfectly again (at or better than brand new). This place is Top Shelf.

I had nothing but a wonderful experience. I dropped my vehicle off on my way to work for tires, alignment and a new headlight and it was done by lunch. Adam called when he noticed I was getting close to needing an oil change and was very kind in asking if I would like to have them take care of it or if Id like to wait. I have had the simultaneous pleasure and misfortune of needing the services at Shoemakers multiple times recently. Of course, no one likes when their car breaks down for whatever reason, but if it happens do yourself a favor and get it towed or driven down to Shoemakers. The repair costs are very fair and despite how busy they always are Ed makes sure to let you know that your business is important to them. Ed also makes sure to educate you on your repair, and he tailors his industry language to your knowledge level without making you feel dumb. I was always well informed throughout the repair process as to the progress and difficulties. I would wholeheartedly recommend Shoemakers to any family member or friend.

I dont understand the one single negative reviews, but there must be more to that story than the person states. The owner of this fine establishment along with his wife strive to keep their customers satisfied. They have gone above and beyond on numerous occasions in order to do the right thing for the customer. The ownership takes great pride in what they do. Their professional technicians are extremely knowledgeable and qualified to perform their job duties. This facility has a high standard for their technicians and only the best are retained. My family has been coming here for years! One of the mechanics took over when the previous owner retired. They have gone above and beyond in customer service! I have had nothing but positive interactions with this shop. The managers and employees are extremely professional and have great communication. They kept me in the loop as they fixed my vehicle from start to finish. I have sent my friends to them and they were extremely satisfied. I wish more places in Kalamazoo ran such a professional business. Nothing but good things to say about Shoemakers.

Shoemakers Garage did a great job on my car. I needed significant work to it that I thought would cost an arm and two legs. Ed was very helpful and clear of my options. They were able to get my car in quickly and perform my repairs. I have since used them 3 more times and have ZERO complaints and only praise to give.I have noticed something in common with most reviews of repair places that are negative. The reviewer never mentions how the treat others at time of service or mention if the took the recommendations offered by professionals. It never hurts to shop around but it is your responsibility to get all the information before you authorize a repair shop to perform work. After the fact you should check out that the work done was agreed upon and completed as explained earlier, if not resolve it like an adult.

I dropped my car off at 8 a.m. on a Monday for wheel bearings. At 11:30 a.m. I got a call saying my car was done! Not only were they fast they were very courteous. I was very pleased with the service and my car feels great now!

Worked with our service contract to make sure our last repair was covered with little out of pocket expense to us. Fixed problems another garage caused in the past. 1st., I would like to Thank, Adam for a good repair on my vehicle. We, had a few parts cost disagreements and 1 whether or not part they put on which I did not need.2ndly, after a few days after I got it back I, looked under my hood and too my dismay the mounted to the fender wall fuse box...the front cover panel was ripped off and dangling on the power cables.I, called about it and talked to another guy Ed...while discussing the situation he promptly went into a cover up mode...even to the point of covering for the mechanic.I, just wanted it glued back together but, since he was making excuses...instead of saying...(Im Sorry, bring it back and Ill have him glue it back together along with a Apology), he made more excuses...so I know that he was so old a d stuck in the pass IGNORANCES of times gone by. I, just promptly got off the phone.When, conducting business, sometimes we have to look past a persons bad behaviour and make suffice for what we have need for.

Shoemakers is the place to go! They are the type of shop that you go there once and you dont trust taking your vehicle anywhere else. Motor swap, transmission service, clutch, brakes, wiring, oil changes, they have done it all and I couldnt be happier with the work. Extremely polite, knowledgeable, and A+ business ethics. Only one machanic they had i liked and they got rid of him. Miss when gary owned it. New owners are Very Rude people. Including the wives of the machanics. Too exspensive and the owners wife is rude. I tried to rate them on FB and they got even more rude with me. No one id want working on my car. I wouldnt even give them a star. More like half.
