Took my 2013 Explorer and they diagnosed and solved my problem pennies to the dollar compared to what the Ford Dealer was wanting to charge me. This is exactly why I am an advocate for multiple estimates and getting different opinions. I was surprised not only at the dollar amount but the work required difference between Joplin Transmission & Ford Dealer. Do your homework and youll get to meet trustworthy people out there that are not in the business of ONLY making money but truly helping customers out. Thanks Travis for the service and advice. Used them few times. Work is quality and price is reasonable. Last time I used them wasn’t too good. They gave me a week long appointment to just come in to make an appointment for another week long wait. So they’re ok sometimes, sometimes not really.
First time we have used this business, and we are very happy with the work! The part our car needed took a couple of weeks to arrive (Pandemic + Christmas + supply/shipping delays on the manufacturer side), but in the end there was a large decrease in the expected price of the part - and the shop passed the savings down to us. We wouldnt have known about the surprise savings without the managers honesty. Integrity and compassion are traits that cannot be taught, and we will always go out of our way to use local businesses where the employees operate on these ethics. They definitely earned our repeat business and a 5-star rating!

Tried overpricing for a simple job I was able to do at home in minutes but said it would take hours to do. Also I understand you are busy but making me wait literally hours for a diagnosis when I had an appointment doesnt seem right either. I honestly believe its because Im a women and you didnt think I knew better.
I took my Toyota 4Runner here after being told by the dealership that I needed to have 2 shift solenoids replaced but they only offered a transmission replacement as a repair. JTA performed a free diagnostic and read the trouble code and recommended further diagnosis by dropping the transmission pan. They quoted me 1-2 hours at their hourly rate for this inspection. They ended up only charging me for 1 hour and after pulling the pan quickly found clutch and other transmission debris in the bottom of the pan. They sounded very experienced and indicated that it was likely the debris caused the solenoid failure. They recommended a full rebuild. I believe their price was fair for a full rebuild.
We have brought our vehicles to Joplin Transmission for many years and have always been satisfied with our experiences. They have taken good care of us and have saved us money after other shops had told us our vehicle “needed extensive repairs”. We have been to other shops (more out of emergency situations rather than choice) and we were less than impressed. I don’t trust taking my vehicles anywhere else anymore. I’m sorry but this place is the worst place ever I made an appointment 2 weeks ago and had my car there all morning long my fiancé calls to me at 130 the car is still not being worked on that other cars are being serviced before ours I’m sorry that is not okay to me poor customer service in my opinion my car has Been since 8 why isn’t mine getting worked on no offense but beats the purpose of setting up an appointment if it’s just gonna set and not get worked will never take my car there ever again would not recommend this to any one!!!!! Period

Car was in the shop for 2 days for simple ac diagnosis of where my leak was. They told us they’d need to replace “everything” that has to do with the ac and sent my husband on his way after saying it would be $1200. My husband declined the service. I called up 30 minutes later because he didn’t get sent with an estimate of parts that needed repaired. No price breakdown whatsoever. I called and the man I spoke to was incredibly rude from the start. I asked him what’s included in the ac kit because that’s all my paper says is ac kit. He starts rattling off several things, I asked him to slow down because I was writing and then when I asked for clarification he basically refused to tell me anything else, said he’s not the one who looked at the car and so I asked if I could speak to THAT mechanic that might know. He very loudly said “HAVE A NICE DAY MA’AM” and hung up on me. I won’t be doing business here and I’ll be sure to let everyone know how this place truly treats their customers. And after having my car for 2 days you’d think they’d be a little nicer... and be able to tell me what the problem is. Absolutely appalling customer service.

We called you at 2:30pm yesterday and agreed on an estimateI am nocturnal and I am not even awake at 2:30pm (I am usually awake from 6:30PM to 9AM). I called to check in how the process of taking apart my car and making an estimate was going and I was told the estimate would be made later that day but first they needed my birthday. When I called today to check on the estimate they said they were approved $2880, which mind you I probably would have been ok with approving if it was told to me up front, but was a number I wasnt told of up till that point. Now when I made a point to dispute it, they said They had my birthday to prove that I agreed to this number. Further questioning and I was told they called at 2:30PM yesterday. I was not and I certainly wouldnt of been able to answer if I was due to being asleep from 11:00AM to 9:00PM, having a day off to sleep in. The only saving grace at this point is if they do the repair well. Im going to be honest, it felt like they were taking advantage of the fact that I am new to dealing with car repairs. Be suspicious with giving information here. Again, if the quality of the repair is good it might swing this experience slightly higher in my personal rating but looking at the other reviews its pretty damning.Edit: Not going to remove my first version of the review because this is kind of funny with new information brought to light. While it was true that I was unconscious at 2:30pm, it was also true that they called at 2:30pm and we agreed on an estimate. Upon digging up the call history, I found that while unconscious I managed to answer the call and respond to it. As they dont know me, they couldnt have possible known that I was not aware of myself and thus confusion ensued when I called the next day wondering why they were saying the estimate was already agreed upon. I was originally quite apprehensive about this but with some investigation, it was mostly a comedic misunderstanding.

Being 200 miles from, my car picked a horrble time to have a minor transmission issue on Labor Day weekend. After AAA failed miserably in helping I Googled shops that were open on Saturday. Corey at Joplin Transmission said if I could get the car towed to his shop before noon (their closing time) they would look at it and see what they could do. The tow truck (shout out to Chucks Towing) got my car there at 11:30 and the guys stayed over and got me back on the road. I cannot express enough my thanks to all three of these men for helping this Okie out. I would have been in one heck of a mess without them!!
The food is surprisingly great. Had the Cheese Curds appetizer & the Grilled Cheeseburger. It was all delicious. The staff is very good and the atmosphere is cool. Definitely going back.

I called today to get an estimate to fix a transmission band and the first person I talked to told me that transmissions dont have a band. Then he gives the phone to someone else and after explaining to him what I needed, he agreed there was a transmission band. He then proceeded to quote me $977 to drop the transmission and replace it. First red flag, you dont have to drop the transmission to put the band on. You just have to lower the engine to get access to the trans cover. I called around a few other places which were quite a bit lower. Express Auto Transmission quoted me at $250 to replace the same band that this company wanted to charge me $977 plus parts for. Always call around because companies like this WILL rip you off.
Took our car in several times because they were referred by the dealership we bought our car from (warranty coverage). Several hundred and a year later the car still has the same problem we took it in for!! They would keep the car for weeks at a time with absolutely no results. The last time they finally did something, but they didnt address the problem we took it in for!!! They clearly do not value customer satisfaction or safety. They managed to delay us long enough for our warranty to run out though, so we will be taking our car anywhere but here. I would suggest you too go anywhere else if you want prompt quality service. They are untrustworthy and very lazy.

We took my jetta in for spark plugs, oil change, and new brake pads and it cost over $500 my car was in great shape, just keeping up routine maintenance and my car now has grinding breaks even after taking it back for them to fix it. My car was my favorite vehicle but now I cant even stop properly and Im terrified to let them touch it anymore. Do not take your vehicles here! !

Awesome! I cant give enough praise to these guys (and gals?). Two weeks ago, Saturday, my wife and 6 yr. old were driving from NE Illinois to Bartlesville, OK. As she was filling up with gas around Springfield, MO, she notice trans fluid leaking from under the car around 5 pm. Via telephone, I suggested she drive slowly to the closest car shop, only a couple miles away. She pulled into a Firestone Complete Auto Care center and asked if they could simply look at the problem for ideas - she was stranded without the car. They basically blew her off and closed up shop early (they really need to be out of business). They would not even lift a finger to look under the car or help her out. This place was also in a bad part of town, so I got AAA to tow here almost 100 miles to Joplin. I found this business on google maps and had them tow it here, praying that she would be treated well. Her brother-in-law picker her up from Joplin and drove them the rest of the way to Bartlesville. Our Ford Explorer was now sitting in the parking lot with a note left telling about the symptoms. I also left a voice mail for the guys who would open business on Monday morning. Well, I received a call Monday and they said it did appear to be a cooler line leak, as I suspected. They were very rusted out. Two hours later they said they had put in new lines and it would be only $136.50! Wow! To get out of a car repair under $400, and a trans repair less than $1000?!?! Other than the lack of good communication (my sister-in-law who picked up the car said they werent high on the list of social graces :)) everything was done well and we felt well cared for. THANK YOU Joplin Transmission, for taking care of our car when we were unable to be there and talk face to face. We could have been scammed, but they played it honestly and fairly. Thank you, guys!

It doesnt even deserve the star i gave,but this place is joke save your money and go somewhere else.So the trouble started when i brought my truck in about 6 months ago.They seemed proffesional and did a good job for 1700.After about 4 months the same issuses started reacuiring yet again.Frustrated i called them again to see if maybe it was a quick easy fix.So another 300 later i thought i was good.Now just a week same problems again and ive called and they still want to charge me even though im $2000 deep and the problem is still here.Seems they fixed and change a bunch of things that didnt need changed for a quick buck from a broke 21 year old. ...no thank you Joplin Transmission.
I drove my car from California to Missouri in August 2014. Ive had an oil leak long before that and the mechanic who put the engine in couldnt figure out the source. Ive tried a few others and couldnt get an answer. So needless to say I went thru alot of oil driving here. Last year i came here and within 10 minutes figured out the issue, (oil cap was tightened to much and cracked) and had a replacement part and done within an hour.
They did engine and tranny work on my car and they did a great job. when i got my car back the AC didnt work and alternator was hooked up loosely. it caused my car to leave me stranded. However, they fixed the problems and threw in some oil changes for my trouble.

I had took my car there for a transmission problem I had experienced to get a transmission diagnosis the shop told me it was not my transmission and it was the alternator so I fixed the alternator “Luky me I got a break on what could of been a bad transmission problem” a month later my transmission goes out and I am continuing to have the same problem as I was before which is why I took it there “stupid me should’ve know that when I was having transmission problems it couldn’t be something as simple as the alternator “ but I trusted them I contact the company the manager on duty has a bad attitude and the company will not apologize Or Say they were in the wrong will not recommend to anybody because at the end of the day I would rather spend 100 then pay out 1200 and thats what they made happen with a Wrong diagnosis

These guys did an excellent job getting my back up and running.I had an emergency scenario where I had to choice but to abandon my car in their parking lot on a holiday, with no explanation.I called the next day when the shop was opened. They gave me a time frame, and they stuck to it. My Cars problem was not as bad as I thought it may be. They needed time to order parts, but again, they were right on target with the timing they told me.My Cars problems were pretty major. I was expecting it to cost me around $3K, but they came in right around $2K, which was totally reasonable.I selected Joplin Transmission and Auto after searching online review, and Im happy to add one more for excellent service and quality or work.
