I’ve been taking my vehicles to McCann’s for years now. Joe and Tom are very helpful and kind. They will never recommend any work that doesn’t need to be done. When something has gone wrong with my car that needs attention ASAP, they’ve gotten it in and helped me out right away. They’re always very patient with me and take the time to explain things when I have questions. Their rates are very reasonable. It’s a good family owned business. I would recommend them to anyone and will continue to take my vehicles to them as long as I’m in the area.

McCanns is a locally owned business that you keep going back to for regular servicing and when you need repairs for years. The men who work here are friendly, polite, honest and reliable. I know very little about cars and appreciate that I can trust what they tell me actually needs to be done, the work will be done well and I will be charged a fair price. I am always treated with respect and my questions, no matter how basic, are answered so I understand. Having a business that you can trust and depend on is rare and appreciated.

Ive been using McCanns Garage for many years and would absolutely recommend them to anyone. I have a general distrust of most auto repair places (especially dealerships) but zero concerns with McCaans Garage. They do excellent work, are very honest, and are trustworthy to the point that I dont need to do my homework and check around for any given issue. They dont do everything but if the needed repair is something they do, I dont waste my time looking elsewhere - I just have them do it. To top it off, they are just really good people - the kind of people you want to support with your business when you have to spend money on auto maintenance.

Second, no matter what the issue are with my vehicles, McCanns will follow up with a call and explain in detail what the issues are. There is nothing more important to us than a mechanic who is trustworthy, honest, reliable, and knowledgeable. They offer affordable pricing and never try to upsell us. When they say its time to change/fix something, it is time to fix it. I remember having my vehicle serviced at the dealership for a warranty repair and was told I needed new brakes. I knew I had a oil change coming up with McCanns and had them check the brakes and was told I still had mileage left and it would be safe to hold off on changing everything out. We trust their opinions and their finished work. They remain courteous and professional no matter if they are extremely busy or working in harsh weather. They treat everyone as if their vehicle is the only vehicle being worked on. We have always suggested this garage to our family and friends and have never heard anything negative. Month ago, I made appointment for changing my oil, to be done a week later. Few days later my breaks started to squeak, then a grinding sound, needed new breaks and rotors in the back, came in to make appointment for that, the night before my oil, that night they ordered what was needed, they did my oil, breaks and rotors, the next day. They also let me know that my front well need to be done, in about a month from then, they were right, in a month the front began to squeak, And once again they got me in promptly. This is not the only time theyve helped me in a bind, I had a total knee replacements done about 2 year ago, Surgery to be done in Madison, I live in Janesville. Had car trouble literally 2 days Before my surgery. They got me in right away fix the problem, so my daughter could take me back-and-forth for my appointments, After surgery. Their very reliable, reasonable, and very respectful and considerate men. I wouldnt consider going to anybody else.

Ive used McCanns twice over the last 12 months to keep my daughters 09 Civic in good working condition. Recently the check engine light came on due to an O2 sensor, which was a little pricey. They went out of their way to make sure the sensor needed to be replaced - found that the connection to the power supply was causing the problem and saved me a significant amount of money. They go the extra mile only fix what needs to be fixed. Im sold!

Overall there very good mechanics! Only reason why I gave them 4 stars. There very busy cause there good. It takes awhile for them to get your vehicle in. Be sure to make an appointment. Otherwise your vehicle will sit for a week.

Lots of people can fix cars; there are tons of dealerships around that testify to that fact. What separates McCanns Garage from everyone else is the McCanns themselves. Quite simply put, they genuinely care.I drive for Uber on the weekends in Madison and as such my car takes a serious beating. I come in on a fairly regular basis to take care of oil, brakes and other general repairs that are on an accelerated timeline due to the excessive work I put my vehicle through. They know this about me, and they put in extra effort to find solutions that keep me out on the road longer, like putting in commercial-grade brakes (at a fantastic price, mind you) that last longer, perform better and are far less likely to warp. They help me determine which aspects of my cars growing personality legitimately need attending to and which ones can roam free for awhile. When my service indicators light up like a Christmas tree theyre willing to take a break from the dozens of other projects theyre working on to run a diagnostic and help me navigate my way through the mess.A good mechanic isnt hard to find. A great one is, though, and these fine folks more than qualify. They will have my business and my advocacy until Im dead.

I usually dont do reviews...Tom, Joe, (& Dan in the past) are/were class-acts (imho) when it comes to doing business. In that, I mean that they do business honestly, ethically, reasonably & courteously; which is hard to find those qualities in todays day & age!!!I grew up around/in a mechanic shop~from farming equipment to semis, & autos & trucks in between. There were occasionally times things happened (parts or addl time needed) that threw a wrench (pardon the pun ~lol~) into the best laid plans/schedules. IF I had the garage setup & TIME currently to do some of the things necessary on vehicles I would ~ however, I DONT!!! I trust Tom & Joe.We (family & friends) have utilized their (McCanns) shop for probably the better part of 15 ± years. Not an issue, other than possibly a bit extra time. I went there today to have a fender put back into place, they popped some rivets in, help secure the bumper back into place and it worked out great. I brought my Jeep in for a check engine light and break inspection. I wish I had done business with them sooner! They are phenomenal. All of them are polite and respectful. I was referred to McCanns and told they were a family-run place that provided great service and honest advice. I dont know much about cars so the trustworthiness part was really important to me. I took my minivan in before a big family driving vacation with the intention of fixing anything that needed it. After spending a bunch of time checking everything over and test driving the van, the guy came back and told me there was nothing that needed to be fixed. NOTHING! On top of that, he wouldnt even accept payment for the time he spent checking it over!! Ive never had such a positive experience at a car repair shop. They definitely won a customer for life and Ive been telling everyone I know to give McCanns their business!

3.5 hours into a road trip with my little sister, my car began over heating. We stopped for the night, and found this shop on google & brought it in to have it checked out. The younger gentleman looked my car over and told me what he thought was wrong; and refused any type of payment, since he wasn’t going to be able to fix the problem he thought it was for a while, he even recommended a few other places to take my car. He was very friendly and helpful, and i’m So grateful for the experience! If I lived closer to Janesville, they’d be the ONLY place I took my vehicles!

If I could give them 6 stars I would. I have never met a more fair mechanic in my life. The only bad thing I can say is it might be difficult to get your vehicle in to be worked on because everyone knows they are that good and that honest.

OMG!! Amazing people! I chugged in with my old car and an unknown problem. The owner and his son looked at, drove it around and assured me that I would make it back to Milwaukee (from Janesville) even in the very wet, driving snow storm! Some wires are loose on the engine and my old Stratus wasn’t liking the dampness.Everything was going wrong that day. The son gave me some coffee while his dad was trying to diagnose the car. They just didn’t have time to fix it. But, they were SO nice to me. Thank you!!
