Shaw tree service was one of a few places we called trying to get a quote for a water oak removal in our backyard. They gave us a reasonable quote during the week of a hurricane while other companies were trying to price gauge. However we weren’t able to get on the schedule until about a month later which is understandable. When mike and his team came out, it took them about 2 days to cut down the tree and remove all debris. They did a great job of cleaning up debris!! Unfortunately during the work one of our drain field covers were damaged. I called the office and spoke to Rachel who explained the process and advised that it would likely not be covered under their service since it sub service. However she indicated someone else wound be calling to confirm or deny. I never received a call. Almost perfect service, now I have to deal with this inconvenience

Crew came out and knocked my job out quickly. Everyone courteous and hard working. Trimmed as requested and cleaned up everything as it was. Would recommend and will use for future jobs.

Called Monday to schedule an estimate. Asked for the appointment to be scheduled for Thursday as I am off work that day. Tuesday morning I get a call from a guy saying he’s at my house and that I’m not answering. After explaining that is because I requested my appointment to be Thursday and that I was at work he tells me “oh well the notes don’t say that”. Okay. He then tells me that he’ll send me a quote for what I’ve requested. I asked for a 30ft tree to be cut and grinding the stump, a stump next to it that’s is maybe 3 ft tall to also be ground, and to trim a couple branches off a real small holly tree I have. Today I received the quote and was quoted $1,700. Yet on a previous Google review a lady stated that she had Shaws cut 3 large trees and trim 2 large magnolia trees and she paid $2,600. Very confused on how they came to that price but after speaking to several other people about the quote and the lack of customer service as far as the scheduling, I will definitely be obtaining another quote elsewhere.

Do not trust this company .They did not grind my stumps and would not give me a refund. They printed a fake bill with the wrrong advsior. I used them for a second time. The first time everything went okay. They fired the first receptionist after she had agreed with me.

The company removed the tree promptly, but did not repair the holes in the ground from dropping the cut logs falling. Now I have to fill the lawn in. Also the cleanup from the stump removal was not done.

Had them scheduled for 2 weeks to come and do some work. After waiting two weeks and taking off work the day the job was to be done I was called about 9 am to be told they would not be able to do the work that day.I guess they are now in the land clearing business and the needs of an average homeowner dont pay the bills like land clearing.I will never use this company again.

Workers were great . Management on the other hand failed them . Left tree in yard for 3 days . When dropped power line . I was without power for 3 hours they failed to call JEA to put power on. It was 40 degrees and falling . Thanks to JEA for coming out due to me calling . Shaw should have stayed until power was restored. They chose to abandon me.

Shaws tree service did an excellent job with the tree removal portion of the job they were paid to do, however, It is now day 3, and Im still waiting for the stump grinder. Im pretty sure they wouldnt appreciate being paid 3 day after theyve completed work, so I dont see how this is acceptable. This is not acceptable, and if the stump grinder does not show up, today, I will request a refund for that portion of the job, and hire someone else. Had I known, that the stump grinder was not coming the next day, they would not have been paid until the job was complete.

Contracted Shaws for some tree removal and trimming on our business property. Quote for the job was received in a timely manner, but then it took 60 days for the services to start (30 days later than they initially told us) and then didnt complete the work until we consistently hounded them about finishing. Upon completion of work invoice was NOT sent to my company, but to a random email that was never given to them. My accounts payable department then received a damning phone call from Shaws threatening an NTO for lack of payment. Its hard to pay for something when you dont have an invoice for it... Overall, an extreme lack of professionalism from Shaws office staff, but great work done by their crew. Will not be using them again.

Crew showed up early and ready to go. Very well organized with minimal prep. Crew removed a good size cedar tree, and as they removed limbs, they were quickly thrown into a chipper shredder, leaving virtually nothing on the ground as they worked. The over sized logs were promptly picked up and removed by the giant claw. The small debris was raked up and removed. we didnt have to clean up anything. Lastly was the stump grinder. All the men did excellent, professional work, and each was very courteous. Pricing beat the competition. We are long time customers and the crews always do an excellent job. When the stump grinding was done, you could hardly tell they were there. I would recommend them to anyone looking for tree work, on large or small jobs.

Just had Shaws remove a couple of huge oaks from my yard. They were responsive on time commitments, kept the property clean as the process happened, and worked their tails off. And the price was right. Hiring them for this job was a good decision. I will hire them the next time the need arises..

After they did work in our neighborhood, they ran their track so fast in our street and cut our phone line down. The worst thing was they ran away and also hang up on the phone saying ‘we don’t have anything we can do’. Multiple people in our neighborhood saw ‘that was Shaw’s tree service’. This happened May 19th, 2020. Because of that, we lost our interest for a day, which greatly affected our ability to work from home. They are extremely rude and careless, and we would never hire them.

Im writing this with mixed feelings. Received a quote to cut down an uprooted oak in our preserve that was leaning over our property line. Quote was for $650 (without removal) and 8-10 weeks out. Seemed high but they were talking about how difficult it was because they were going to have to scale nearby trees and cut out the tops of the oak. I did not get another quote because of the high rating and an employee that is an acquaintance. Got a call a couple of days later indicating that the job was not as big as they thought and they could squeeze me in between jobs (this was good). Wife sent pictures of the tree which was left in a pile next to our fence and partially hanging over. She indicated that they were back on the road within 20 minutes of arriving. I called the project manager to inquire about $650 for 20 minutes of work and he stated that he did what they said they would do. That was to cut down the tree so it wouldnt fall on the property. So A+ on responsiveness and expediting the work. C on quality and professionalism of job. D on price and transparency/integrity of the quote. Moral of the story - get multiple quotes.

I have learned all that I need to about this company while watching them navigate lanes and traffic. Oh, and the political sticker front and center on the back window of their work truck, gives me ample reason to avoid this “professional” company altogether.

Work now complete and the work was done in the best way I could see, each one worked professionally and the yard looks great when finished, just no tree.

Im giving out my rating because Shaw was timely, professional, fast and the price was reasonable. I was going to take away a star because I didnt get a more formal quote and I needed to call them to ask when they would cut down the tree. But their word over the phone was as good as gold because they didnt miss the appointment.

The men that came to my property to take down a massive oak arrived on time, made quick work of it, and treated my yard and bushes nearby with as much caution as possible given the circumstances. Every single piece of debris was picked or raked up, and the stump grinder moved the mulch where I needed ito to go so I could spread it. The price point was fair given the size of the job, and I would absolutely go to Shaws for any other tree job given this experience.

I am very happy with Shaws. These guys do not play around, they get the job done! I honestly cannot think of one complaint. We had a monster of a tree (water oak) it was ginormous. No job is too big for shaws...They showed up on time both days. They worked in a timely manner. They were all very friendly. We have an old house so have had alot of different companys out and its nice to finally get a company out that acts like a professional company!They cared about the work all the way down to the small details of sweeping off my concreted driveway. This is a terrible company with the rudest receptionist I’ve ever experienced. We own two small businesses and I cannot imagine speaking to my customers like this.We paid $650 to have a tree removed AND STUMP, in our front yard, and we thought they did. After multiple attempts trying to get the grass in that area to grow, we finally dug up all of the grass with its roots to find the stump still there! They cut an exact circle in the ground, instead of actually looking to see where the stump was. So they left more than 3/4 of the stump, which has now caused damage to our lawn, additionally the sidewalk is now raising where the stump is rotting out when wet.When I called to report what we had finally discovered, the receptionist was so rude and was yelling at me. And she said she would “pass along the information” and refused to let me talk to someone else. Guarantee that message isn’t getting “passed along” to anyone.GO ELSEWHERE. Total hacks.

Hired Shaws to remove 3 large pecan trees and trim a magnolia and a rain tree ($2650). It was an all day job but they stayed to re-trim the magnolia when I requested it be trimmed more. Appreciate their professionalism and clean-up after removal. Will use them again.

I was to receive an estimate between 8am and 1pm. Waited 5 hours and no one showed up. I called and told the receptionist I was going to cancel because I had things to do today. She says ok ill let him know. There was no apology. No let me see where they are. Very Unprofessional.

The men that work for this company are VERY UNPROFESSIONAL ! I have have been cursed at by one of the workers in the past and now today my sister has. These are grown men ! Arguing with women! Shaw gave me verbal estimate $3300 for tree removal (Irma, tree fell on garage apartment)They showed up 1 day early, i was having a party for my teenage daughter and friends and felt it was inappropriate to have workers back there w these girls, so I told them they would have to come back for their original date of service.David Pirrung, neighbors friend, came next day and cut down everything except one limb because I needed to get neighbors permission to finish the job. Regardless his total price was $950!Shaw came back the next day and cut the one limb and removed it.One limb, no estimate, no call.I didnt even know they were here, as I was working out of town.One month later I get bill for $1100.I called billing, Eva, who was not nice, as she challenged me on why I was just calling (I had just gotten bill that day).I asked manager to call me so I could work something out. No one ever called.I received certified letter stating they would file a notice of lien against my property, maybe two weeks after I called which is only two weeks after I received the bill.I called and spoke to Tammy today again asking for manager or owner to call me. No one has called.Happy to pay them for their work, but not $1100 for a limb removal for which I received no call, no estimate, no notice that they were back at my house. I cant get a return phone call but I can get this notice, two weeks after receiving the bill.Price gouging because of where I live, and a serious lack of integrity and customer service.If you are going to use them, I advise you get a written contract with itemized and full amount (there is an additional removal fee) signed by both parties as well as clearly denoted date of service.Good luck.

I have hired Shaws a few years ago and their prices were reasonable and they did a great job. I called for an estimate yesterday and when the man arrived he seemed inconvenied. He talked on the cell phone the entire time and never introduced himself. He gave me the most outrageous quote so he wouldnt have to deal with me. I couldnt believe it. Dont waste your time.

Consumer Beware: While taking multiple bids the other companies to a person told me what they could and would do. Shaws told me what they couldnt and wouldnt do. Obviously Shaws does not have a can do attitude when bidding a job. Shaws bid was also TOTALLY out of the ball park.

Not happy with this tree company. Post Irma, got a very high quote from them to remove a massive Bay tree that fell on my garage. Because it required a crane, and because there are only so many companies able to handle the work, I agreed. The quote included hauling away the wood, but instead they stacked it on the street with other irma debris. They left a big mess under where the tree had been, in my parking area, and they left their soda containers all over the place. Not impressed and not a happy customer.
