For a little over a month now, the collectors have merely picked out the bags they could see on top and left smaller bags/loose waste in the cans. At times this has included food waste, which was frozen over the week and deposited the morning of collection to avoid rot. (Ive worked in waste management before - I know its a dirty job and I try to mitigate the mess, odor, and rotting food/animal waste as much as possible.)Last week (06/26/2020) I left a note to remind them to invert the can to ensure all the waste was removed. It was a silly note (picture included for reference), but harmless nonetheless. The next day upon collection my wife watched as the collector read the note, had the driver come read it, barely tilt the can into the truck, and then turn it upside down on our lawn. When I returned home to retrieve it not only was it the only can on the block in that condition, there was leftover waste was on my lawn that I had to pick up.I called the customer service line and was greeted by a woman who I can only assume was given instructions to frustrate and ignore the customer as much as possible. During my attempt to explain my situation, she cut me off several times, making excuses for the lack of attention to detail on the part of the collectors. At length I finally got her to be quiet long enough to finish my story and she took down my information, assuring me that a supervisor would contact me. Not only has that not been the case, but another week has come and gone, the hapless collectors STILL left trash in the can, and the lid was left open during a rain shower, allowing water to collect in it (photo attached). Im not taking it inside and Ill be damned if Im going to watch another day while they dont collect it. Next week Ill be waiting on them. If I dont hear from management to resolve this issue before next week Im going to have to take things up a notch.This is the worst waste management company Ive ever seen. The pathetic work ethic, the lack of managerial oversight, the substandard customer service - Ill bet everyone wishes they could be this ineffective and still keep their jobs. An absolute waste of a company.
Whenever I call in, they tell me that they cant do anything except for tell the account manager. Its hard to get in contact with the account manager. Also, they always charge you extra or increase the price on the invoice. It happens a couple times a year, so you have to call in often to get it fixed every time. This month they missed a waste pickup on a weekend, which is when we have more waste. Even though they missed a waste pickup, they will probably still charge us on the next bill for having too much waste. Ive had to contact them at least once a month because there always seems to be a problem.
Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from these guys as you can, especially if you are a small business. If you do decide to try they guys, do not sign any multiple year contracts. They will just rob you with overage charges, increasing rates, missed pickups, and then hit you with liquidaton cost for trying to cancel poor service.
Iโm in a contract with Republic Services to empty our dumpster located at a business on the same day every week. After a week of receiving the run around from your new age customer service department (Calling Republic Services is worse than calling Comcast.) Its clear to me that Republic Services must contract out to a call center for their customer service employees. Any time you call you will talk to some one new and you can always hear personal conversations occurring in the background. The rep doesnt know who the manager is for any department. If you have any simple question I can guarantee youll be asked Can you hold on one second, I have to look this up. Its clear they dont care about their clients. My dumpster is scheduled every week to be emptied and they missed our dumpster last week. Please keep in mind that our dumpster is for a business behind a locked gate. So I called customer service and I was told โIt will be on tomorrow schedule.โ I come in the next day, walk over to the dumpster and its not emptied. I call again, get told the same thing. I come in the next day, still trash in the dumpster. This went on for four consecutive days. Finally, a week later I receive a call from Bill at the Jacksonville Florida location. He says hello, tells me his name and asked whatโs going on. I tell him โall I want is our trash to be picked up.โ I shouldnโt have to call four days in a row, all he says is โill take care of it. I say thank you and then he hangs up before I can ask any more questions. I guess this was just another call he has to make. If you want a big blue dumpster, inconsistent pickups and terrible customer service along with poor management. Republic services is for you.

Its true - zero stars is not an option! Instead of one star, I could give them tons of ๐ฉ๐ฉ ๐ฉ Its a waste to even write this review- they are not going to pick it up any way! After consecutively missing to pick up the trash from my garbage can, finally Brian from customer support, who had just woken up from food coma ( around 2,30pm), picked up the phone and wrote a ticket for the case . Brian, I dont need a ticket, I need someone to come and do the job!!!
Be warned about their roll off dumpster rentals. I placed the order online and was immediately charted. However, they failed to deliver the dumpster on the day selected and failed to contact me about the delay. I called their customer service and they were fully incapable of helping as their is a specific person who needs to enter the online order into a different system and that person is unavailable. I am also unable to cancel the order without this mystery person.
This company does the bare minimum of service for their contract with the city of Jacksonville. The drivers do nothing but use the mechanical arm of the truck leaving any missed bags or trash in the street in their wake.Also the company decided to change their recycle pickup week for 2017, but then sent out the flyers in the mail after the date changed so nobody had their recycle out on the 2nd and have to wait until the 16th now.
Before reading the following, note that I only awarded 1 star because if I put no stars this rating would probably be disqualified. Otherwise, their customer service stinks, and they would have gotten NO stars. Also, I have never posted a review of any kind prior to this, but I feel that this is a systemic problem with Republic, and figured that it was important to warn anyone thinking of doing business with this company. You should probably go elsewhere.I had a contract with Republic to pickup a small container of recyclables. When signing this contract I specifically wrote on the contract that it would end on its anniversary date. A couple months before the anniversary date, we moved to a new location, where my new landlord required us to use their trash service as part of the lease agreement. I called Republic several times to cancel our service as of the upcoming anniversary date, and got absolutely no call back from Republic or my Account Rep. Frustrated, because now my contract anniversary had passed, I called again and finally got a call from my Account Rep. She told me that my contract had now automatically renewed and I was now on the hook for another 3 year stint with Republic. After complaining that I had tried to contact her months before this happened, she offered that she could speak with her supervisor to see what they could do.The supervisor offered that if I sent in a copy of the lease agreement (to show that the new landlord was requiring us to use their trash service), they would terminate the renewed agreement. There was no mention of our written clause to terminate the contract on the anniversary. We sent the lease copy and waited for a final billing so that we could write a check and be done with the account.My final billing was emailed some time later. I wrote the final check out, and then noticed that the words bad debt were written on the invoice. I then called Republic because, should I ever want to open another account with Republic in the future, or worse yet, if this information made its way onto our business credit report, I did not want this information to adversely impact our company or its credit rating.Enter the dragon...again. Again I left voice mails for our Account Rep with no return call. I was called several times from Republic collectors, to whom I explained about the problem and was told only the Account Rep would be able to correct the issue. I left more voice mails with no call back. And then Friday, 09/25/15, I was finally called by a collection agency. My account had now been turned over to a collection company! I explained to the agent what was going on with the account, and that I was fully willing to pay; however, I needed to have the account closing info changed, and now that the account had been turned over to their agency, I would also need Republic to reverse any adverse collections record information, and also would need a letter explaining that our company was turned over to a collections agency by mistake, so that we would have something in writing should this event every rear its head in the future. The agency collector called me back today 9/28/15 with the bad news that Republic was taking the stance that this in fact was a bad debt!Furious, I called Republic again today. After explaining the situation yet again and telling the customer service rep that I keep leaving voice mails with no response, the customer service person asked have you tried calling their cell phone? Did anyone ever give you their cell phone number? Apparently now it is my responsibility to chase down Republics employees.The agent gave the Acct Rep and supervisors cell numbers. I dont like chasing down people who should be doing their job in the first place. If I took the time to leave voice mail, they should check it and pay me the courtesy of calling back; secondly, other that this final check, I owe Republic nothing. All I asked for was to correct bad information about our account.SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM REPUBLIC??????
