New to the area. Googled “best barbershops town center” and Diesel was the first result.Called to book an appointment, but according to the attitude given by the lady answering the phone, they don’t seem to value bringing in a new clients. I was looking forward to the convenience of this place being so close to home, but I’d imagine that there are several other places that actually value a new client.Competitor barbershops clearly have an edge purely by the manner that they answer the phone.

Many years have gone by since my previous haircut. I have been frequently mistaken for a homeless man, but after my haircut with Kristin my credit score has rapidly improved into the low 800s and Im now driving a convertible, I have 2 children, the woman of my dreams and Ive recently won the lottery. 8/10 would recommend

This was my first time at this barbershop as my regular place didnt have availability. This place is nice and the people are friendly. And the cost is generally reasonable for the extent of the services offered. HOWEVER, I received the worst haircut I have ever gotten which is shocking considering I asked for the simplest of haircuts and clearly communicated what I wanted. In particular, I asked for a trim off the top (no more than 1/4 of inch) and the stylist proceeded to take off almost 1 inch of hair. I asked for the sides to be tapered and blended-in but instead she failed to do that even very well. She was friendly but I think she was so busy talking (on topics all over the map ) that she didnt pay any attention to what I asked and was not focused on my hair. Needless to say I wont be going back there, but hopefully this review will help others in the future.

This place is awesome! Very cool atmosphere! Katie did an excellent job cutting my hair (might be the best haircut Ive had in a very long time). Definitely worth every penny spent and I will be making this my new regular being a newbie in town!

Nice atmosphere and good prices for the services offered. Ami did a really great job on my fade. She was very efficient and thorough. Highly recommend, and for a bonus you get a drink and can play arcade games, win-win.

From the moment I walked in, I could tell this barbershop was perfect for me. Friendly customer service as I waited for my appointment. Asked if I wanted a cold drink while I waited; enjoyed a local craft beer. The hairstylist did an amazing job, especially since it was my first haircut in 18-months. I gave her free reign and my hair turned out fabulous. She also did a great job trimming and cleaning up my beard. Will definitely be back again.

A different experience, I will say that it was a little bit expensive($35+tip), but the service include a shampoo wash and other stuff. Also Natasha was very professional and gentle. I will recommend this place to others.

This place is top notch and so is Kristin. From the free beer to the video games, to the haircut and beard trim. I just can’t pick my favorite part. Kristin gave me such a precision cut and carried herself and the conversation so well, you can really tell she loves her job so much. I am severely disappointed in the lack of baseball bats. My son got a haircut and I am running out of weapons to defend him from thirsty females. He is 2 years old and we cant afford to support grandchildren yet. Kristin really needs to get herself together and lower her standards to avoid this problem in the future

Owner was extremely understanding and went above and beyond for my service. I received a cut, that did not turn out to my expectations. The barber was courteous and made every effort to meet my requests. I will say the cost of the shop is not what you would normally expect for a men’s haircut. When you go, get your monies worth. Play the free arcade games. Get a beer. Put your feet up and don’t rush. Make sure you’re clear on your expectations. If they don’t get it perfect, don’t worry. They will take care of you until your satisfied.

My appointment was at 3 and I had to wait 25 minutes, which is ironic since they have a huge poster touting that an appointment is a commitment, not a suggestion.. Whatever. I was shocked that a trim was $35.00 and I hated my cut... ugh. Its obvious they hire people straight out of beauty school with little talent. Over priced amateurs. Nothing worse than having to grow out a bad haircut. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Started from the bottom, now were here! - George WashingtonDiesel Barbershop is conveniently located near St. Johns Town Center, but not in the middle of all that traffic mess.As you walk into Diesel you will probably notice that the atmosphere is awesome! Each barber station has its own dedicated TV in case you are really trying to catch your favorite daytime soap or the Kansas City Chiefs beat down the Houston Texans. There are three classic arcade games that are free to play. You can try your hand at Frogger, Space Invaders, or Donkey Kong. They also have corn hole! Each patron can get a yummy beer with their chosen service, so I definitely did treat myself. You can also request specific songs to play using an app called Rockbot. I thought this was super cool!My dope barber, Brie, was as nice as could be. I opted for the Diesel Plus and Brie rocked it. She gave me a smooth and professional cut around the sides with two hard parts on the sides. I didnt want to touch the top since I am growing my fro out, so our haircut was short and sweet. The neck shave was really nice and is always one of my favorite parts of visiting any barber, but Brie did it really well. The hot towel hair wash was also really nice. I really did feel rejuvenated after. To top off an already epic haircut Brie became part machine by grabbing a handheld massage machine and massaging my shoulders. That part was really dope.I didnt need any product afterwards since I was just going home to my wife, but Brie added some moisturizer so my hair would smell great and I loved it.Diesel is the IT barbershop. I have a feeling that Diesel will be around a good long time, because it is just plain wonderful. They have taken the worst part of getting a haircut, waiting, and turned it into a strength by offering fun activities to pass your time.The service is top notch and prices are competitive for all that you get. I dont get a haircut all that often, but this is going to be my place!

Nice shop. Way overpriced. Ive never paid 55 for a bald a fade with an electric Razor. It wasnt even full service. The girl did a good job on my cut but I had to get it cleaned up 3 days later because it was not a true military fade. I appreciate them getting me in Nye but I wont be back. Plus the hair thicking shampoo the sold is 45 cheaper online. It cost me 160 for a cut, a 6OZ shampoo and 5 Oz conditioner. I feel ripped off.

She’s very thorough, professional and knows how to carry a good conversation. They provide free beer and vintage video games also. Kristin gives hands down the best head massages during the shampoo along with hot face towel, so relaxing and a nice touch. All around great place. Highly recommend.

I had a cut and shave, their full service product. It was a disaster. The haircut is terrible and they didn’t make the cut symmetric on my head and one side is like 2 inches longer than the other. The shave was even worse. They went at my neck with three different powered shavers before scratching away at me with a razor up and down up and down. I left the place with a legit fully bloodied neck and spent 10 min in the car cleaning it up so it would stop bleeding. Do not use this shop unless you know the hairstylist personally

This place is great! I stopped by another barber shop after work to get a haircut, and long story-short, it was the worst haircut of my life, I looked like a cómodo dragón. Shortly after leaving the first place, I called Diesel Barber shop to ask if they could fix what had happened. They did a great job, and were very hospitable! I would definitely recommend Diesel Barber Shop to anyone looking for a quality haircut.

Absolutely loved the haircut and beard trim from Kristin. The hot towels and scalp massage was a nice touch too. The prices are alot higher than Im used to paying but with the free beer and arcade games, it makes the experience worth it. Will def recommend and be back!

This was the first time I spent a little bit more on a haircut, to be honest, I was afraid to drop over $35 for the haircut, as I usually dropped $15-25 going from barbershop to barbershop, trying to the right people to cut my hair how I actually want it. Because I wanted to be confident in my decision in trying out Diesel, I called first and asked questions, lady on the phone provided great service by the way, she was able to answer my questions and I booked an appointment after some thought. Coming into the shop, I was well welcomed, offered a drink, I happily declined, but it’s a nice touch to service. Talking with one of the barbers, I tried my best to explain what I was looking for, I even showed a picture for reference, I explained about my past experiences with other shops and how I was never truly satisfied with myself. This was the time I probably described what I wanted with the most detail, since it was a little more expensive, I wanted to try the make the best of it, but at the same time I didn’t want to come off sounding picky. The electric razor fade was perfect, down to the scalp, nice and smooth, I was honestly happy with the first part of the cut. I explained before that in past experiences, I would have the barbers cut too low on the upper part of my sides, making my top look too long and giving off a woodpecker look, I emphasized that I wanted to keep my length on those parts, basically untouched, tried explaining that I was looking for a “tight” fade, or a quick transition from skin to hair to leave that upper part thicker, basically how I had it. While it was left a longer than what past barbers have, it was still cut short, it went more than almost untouched, I was genuinely bummed out, but it’s not like I could point that out again, because it was already too short to go back. But at least the hair wash and hot towel treatment was a very different, actually relaxing experience. Overall, the service was excellent, but unfortunately I couldn’t once again Completely find what I was looking for in a haircut, sometimes I feel like it’s me not explaining it correctly, but I always try to research what I want and plan what to say beforehand for that exact reason, still no luck. I give props to the people who work there, because they are genuinely trying to do their best and provide the best service, but that’s why I was willing to pay more, to find that haircut. At least I had the experience of going there.UPDATE: I was invited back again for a “complimentary” haircut, unfortunately I’m starting to think I don’t know what I’m talking about because I once again got the top sides and back cut too short, on top of that I was charged full price. Maybe I’m just very unlucky, but I don’t believe I’ll be returning again. I appreciated the effort however.

Ive had my haircut at Diesel many times now at Gate Pkwy location in Jax, FL. Its nice, clean and professionally managed. Each time Kristin has been my stylist. In short, she rates a 10 out of 10 on my scale. She is pleasant, courteous and her work area is pristine. She is not pushy or overly talkative. Yet shes up to having easy and fun conversation. Last, I will mention she is efficient with my time - she perfectly balances my duel needs of getting a great cut without costing too much time!

Diesel is awesome! Deanna gave me a perfect cut! She was easy to talk to, funny, and professional.When I arrived I was given my choice of drink. I had a local IPA and watched football while I waited for my appt. I didn’t sit down right at my appt time, but that doesn’t bother me (unlike other reviewers here) because it tells me that they aren’t rushing through a cut just to get to another client. The whole experience was great. I’ve never been to a dudes spa (if there is such a thing) but this must be what it feels like. $35 was well worth it.This is my new place. Won’t go anywhere else in Jax.

I’m thrilled I found this place. Kristin does a great job with what I ask. I have a few difficult cowlicks and struggle with the style. She explained the best haircut and even sold me product to help style it. Tried the eyebrow wax too and I think I’m hooked! We will def be back. Also free beer, can’t beat it!

I got a truly great haircut this weekend by Kristin. The draw that brought me in were the reviews she had online. And she most def delivered. The haircut and neck shave was exceptional. And the shampoo and scalp massage almost freaking put me to sleep. Lol. Oh and I got a feee beer too, red ale! Highly recommend this place!

They have no prices listed anywhere and threaten to call the cops when you question a price of $100 for 2 haircuts!!! Out of towers do not bother, as they a very rude and pricey. Same quality haircut as cost cutters or your local barber!!

Good service and nice employees but honestly Ive had 20 dollar haircuts that looked better than this 60 dollar haircut. its not that bad now that Im looking at but its still more uneven than it should be.

I went there for my barber Kris as he moved. Solid barber that id recommend to anyone. The owner and other employees were very welcoming and the place had a good scene as well. I love the location of the store as well. My only constructive feedback would be offer a price minus the shampoo/conditioner, hot towel & massage. If people just want to come in for the cut. I don’t think it would hurt. Just another option for people to choose from.

He did a great job on the lineup and overall cut. Been with him for a while and hes consistently provided excellent cuts. Kristin was in the shop as well and she helped create a welcoming atmosphere. The overall layout of the shop itself is unique. Ive never been in a place that offered free drinks, free vintage games AND ESPN! The experience was well worth it and I know Ill be coming back again!

Great Environment, great haircut and a free beer.

I went in to get a haircut around 6:30PM on 4/24/2021 and was turned away by the manager. She said that they were closed even though the sign says 7PM is the actual closing time. Highly disappointed and won’t come back. I’ll take my business elsewhere.
