Tommy was the driver and arrived earlier than expected, gave me a lift home after towing my car to a mechanic and went a far distance to ensure everything was set and I was taken care for. I called for a tow around midnight and got to sleep in my bed that day because of him, I appreciate the work this company does and how they do their business and If I ever need another tow Ill definitely call again. 10 / 10

My son’s car broke down on base on a Sunday night and they were there within 30 minutes and took it to his house for him.My daughter was in a car accident a few days later and they responded to load her car and take it to their lot.Tommy does an awesome job. Called for a quote on a tow for my motorcycle, was informed the service could be provided within an hour. They arrived exactly exactly on time. They even went the extra mile to call ahead.Upon arrival the two gentlemen announced themselves from the business and by name, confirmed the receiving address and immediately loaded the bike.Very professional and courteous!

Service was friendly and they squeezed me in their already packed schedule which I really appreciated. The end product was great, I am no longer having any problems. My only complaint is that I brought my car, had the part I needed replaced already, and told them to replace it. But when I came to pick it up and pay, I had an $80 diagnosis fee. Which is absurd because they found the same problem I already told them and I never asked them to diagnose it. I simply asked them to replace the part. That made me quite unhappy. Especially since the warranty was already gone because I wasn’t using their parts, there is absolutely no reason they should have diagnosed my issue then charged me for it

I have been back and forth with them now for months they are really nice and professional people they are also reasonably priced however the reason for the loss of 2 stars is I had a wheel lock key in my car when they got it they changed the tire so I know they had it I had it towed from them to another friend who is a mechanic he searched the vehicle and guess what no wheel lock key he had to hammer on a socket to the locked lug to get it off ive called them multiple times and they always say they dont have it they said last time it was left in the cup holder or passenger seat but my question is why? it was in the factory tool case when it got there when it was pulled out it should be put back in when finished right now I have a flat tire on base and my car has had this flat tire for a week now because I dont have the key this is my project car at the moment I thought maybe they did put it back in the car so I searched keep in mind this is a project car so im removing the carpet back seats interior panels and yet still no sign of this super important key now I have to get the car towed to a bmw dealership so they can use a master key to remove my lugs or just try to hammer a socket on the locked lug myself which is what Im going to try to do.... I am very upset about this I get out of the military Friday 13 (tomorrow) and cant afford this bull**** the reason I still gave them 3 stars is because there nice and friendly people and when my car was left there for to long they didnt charge me a huge a*s storage fee because they cared enough to make it reasonable and for that I am super appreciative and would not be opposed to work with them again

Been using them for 14 years. I trust them, they are honest and not into creating problems so you have to come back. Being female, sometimes the other repair shops think because Im female that I dont know my way around cars. Smiths never make me feel like they dont care about me.

Despite the reviews, I had a really good experience there. My car wouldn’t start while running errands and my insurance company worked with me to select them for towing and possible maintenance. The man that came to tow my car was personable, a bit hard to understand but clearly had manners. He jumped my car to get me there versus an actual tow. When we got to the shop, the man behind the desk was welcoming, the shop was clean (as can be for an auto shop), and I was actually listened to. I have auto/mechanic experience and it was good to have some actually listen to me as a female versus just looking at my dress and trying to scam me. Battery got a diagnostic ran on it and I was shown the receipt of procedure. I replaced the battery on the spot and added an oil change. It took maybe 40 minutes for it all. During, an employee let me use his phone charger to call my insurance company, super kind with smiles. When I got my car back, it ran smoothly, my oil was brand new, battery was fresh (unsampled with no made scraping), and they even fixed my tire!I’m greatly appreciative of this place. Efficient, straightforward, and humans not robots. (The dog is so sweet, by the way!) THANKS, Y’ALL!

Extremely helpful and understanding staff. I wrecked my car and had it towed here. I work hours that don’t line up with their hours of operation. When I went to pick it up staff were extremely compliant and despite being close to closing allowed me to grab my personals and call in other tow truck to move my car elsewhere.

Towed my Marine sons car from a parking lot while he was training 1000 miles away and didnt bother to tell me until the storage fees were over $1200. I lived 400 miles away and couldnt come get it and he wouldnt be home for two months and they didnt care. The car wasnt worth 1200. They told me they wanted the title so they could sell it at auction for their fee. Some family business. I bet they make quite a nice side income from ripping off people by waiting to give notice. Its illegal in TN to not notify an owner within 15 days. I talked with another tow truck owner and he will keep a Marines car free of charge indefinitely until they return because after all they are defending our country. This is an edit to the response that I am just now seeing. The owner Donna is the one I spoke with originally. And much later when I called back (after my son had returned from training) transferred me to her son that takes care of the towing. They knew my sons story because I sent a certified letter to Donna Smith with my scathing opinion of them and she did not care! Its been way too long to get the car back. They said it would be sold at auction. Im sure its long gone by now. Dont believe what they are saying. If I am wrong, I will edit this.

I don’t know what all the bad reviews are talking about. Smith’s Auto Service was able to work my Mustang GT in on a two hour notice for a malfunctioning starter. Charged me $102.00 dollars in labor + tax. Dave even walked me back and allowed me to visually inspect what was causing the issue, a faulty stud on the starter. Moreover, they tried to save me money by tightening the nut down and verifying it would hold for some more time. But, I went ahead and had it replaced for peace of mind. Overall, down to earth business, excellent customer service, fast repairs and reasonable prices! Highly recommend.

Went to watch a football game with a friendly his apartment. Go to leave after the game there’s a sticker on my window about towing the vehicle if it’s not removed by the next day. Guess you can’t invite people over if you live here we got here at 7:30 pm for an 8pm game sticker was placed at 9:45 pm. Glad we left before midnight and the game didn’t go to overtime. Closed on Saturday and Sunday but sure can put a sticker on the window

All I had was 2 flat tires. My Insurance company already sent the money for It but they waited to 2 days to order them. Then I called to see If they were put on and was Informed the mechanic left and they didnt know when he was coming back. What kind of company Is that?

Five stars because first impressions are everything. This was my first time visiting the location with the purpose of having my vehicle inspected in order to renew my registration. All I have to say is ask for RAY! The man is though and an absolute please to speak with and full of life. There was not any sort of wait when I swung by and the inspection took a total time of one hour with the cost of $30. This has become my go to business for vehicle inspections are today’s experience.

If I could rate this place a 0 I would. My husband and I had them tow our Jeep off of base before we left for vacation. Because it wouldn’t start. They replaced the ignition coil, and said it was done. We paid $300. We took it home a day after we got home from vacation and it stopped working in the middle of the road. We had it towed back to be fixed not even an hour after we attempted to take it home. They said they ran a diagnostics test on it before they gave us the Jeep back. Well now they tried to charge us $400 more for something else being wrong. They have had our vehicle for almost a month now. I expect for the Jeep to be looked at the day it was towed back, but instead they waited 3 days to do so. My MIL called and asked why we were being charged so much now since they didn’t fix the problem the first time. Then they told us to get our vehicle out of their shop. 10/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Great service and fair prices. Ive been taking my car to Smiths for many years and theyve always done my repairs and maintenance quickly and fairly. Its not hard to look up, and compare, repair costs on the internet these days and Smiths prices have always been more than fair. Ive never had a problem with any repairs theyve made. David, Charlie and the guys always tell me whats up in advance and Ive never had one of those surprise bills you sometimes get from other places. Great, local owned, shop that does good work at a fair price. You cant ask for more than that.

This company is in partnership with apt complexes to tow cars that dont have parking permits, which in itself is fine. They told us there was an accident nearby so they decided to just swing on in the complex during the daytime and tow some cars, my grandfather being one of them. He has bad hips and legs from a lifetime of protecting our country as a marine and cant walk too well so he parked near my building when he came to visit me. He was only there for an hour and his car was towed in the middle of the day by this company, who as far as I know is only supposed to come and tow cars overnight (that is what we were told my an employee at least, but Ive seen them tow here during the day). We were told we would be charged $175 for less than an hour of having my grandfathers car in their possession but when we got there (approx 7 minutes after being told that over the phone) they tried to charge us $210. Telling us it would cost one charge over the phone and then less than 10 minutes later trying to charge us more is unethical and unprofessional. A typical towing company charges between $35-125 for a 5 mile or less tow. I live less than 2 miles from the company, so it shows they are massively overcharging people. I counted 7 cars without parking permits in front of my building (which had been parked there for hours including the short time my grandfather was there) but none of them were towed, so it just shows that not only is this company unprofessional and unethical, but they arent even thorough and they just tow cars at their discretion. Lastly, they were rude both on the phone and in person. I wouldnt use a company that is both rude and overcharges, and am disappointed that my place of residence chooses to do business with them.

‼️ BEWARE ‼️My van was towed to them through my insurance due to a breakdown and they ran a $50 diagnostic to find out what was wrong. They told me it was a coolant line and charged me almost $400 to fix it. After I got the van back and got in to drive, I noticed there were still 4 out of 5 (that were on at the time my van broke down) lights on my dash but went ahead and drove because I figured it was an electric reset that just wasn’t done— assuming they wouldn’t have given me a van that was still messed up. Went to work, then to run an errand and within 25 minutes (total) of driving my van, it was not accelerating past 20MPH and the RPM was going crazy and it was making a lot of noise. I called the place and they said to bring it back. They ran another diagnostic on it in front of me & then told me it was my transmission and ABS and that I would be better off getting a new vehicle. They now claim that there are 2 diagnostic options (which I was not made aware of) and that one would tell why there was smoke coming from my hood and the other would tell them anything that was wrong with the van. The one I was offered, I was told would be $50 and this other one is apparently $80. Apparently they can run the $80 one for free for me the second time around but couldn’t do that the first time?? Or ask me which I would like to have done? Would have been an obvious choice to check the whole van and not just one area if you ask me.I did confront the situation and was refused a refund as well as contact with the owner.Every mechanic I have spoken to since has said they more than likely saw the lights and omitted the information that it would be over $2000 just for the ABS so that they could get the most money out of me. They all say that if the van would have been brought to them and they would have seen the lights on the dash, they would have immediately called and given me options of what to do. Some even said they would have gone ahead and run the diagnostic to find out what was wrong to see if there was a larger issue that caused the line to explode. Some even said they wouldn’t have let me get in the vehicle if I had lights on the dash. It would cost me more to fix my van than what I have left to pay on it. I’ll also add that we do have routine work done on it and just took it for an oil change 6 weeks ago so it’s not like we don’t take care of our vehicle.I then went to their FB page to write a review because I was dissatisfied with my Servive and they deleted my review and made it where I could not write a review or rate them.When they deleted my review, I called and told them I would be taking it to the better business bureau and social media.I did go live on FB last week and ended up in contact with an ex-employee who disclosed that they do this to people regularly and are dishonest people looking for a quick and easy buck off of innocent people—especially military families since there’s always a constant flow of new families to take advantage of.After the company saw my live videos, they blasted me on their FB page blaming me for not telling them the lights were on and had their ex-employees, family members and family fiends all attack me on social media calling me ignorant and saying things like that I want things for free and that I’m a spoiled military wife who just wanted her 15 minutes of fame, that I’m crazy, and more. They also shamed one of their ex-employees (and not even the one who contacted me!!!) for being a dump truck driver on their social media page AND included this man’s name— not knowing who messaged me and blasted this other man’s information on social media. A pay check is a pay check and they are so wrong in so many ways in this whole situation.I also contacted Geico, AAA and the BBB.If you have to have to get a tow, do not use this company. If you need work done on your vehicle, go somewhere else. This place is full of immoral and unethical people who will take advantage of anyone they can.

He made us laugh through a tough time after being stranded on a busy road at the worst traffic hour in Jacksonville. Hes also a former Marine and treated us ( Marine Wounded Warrior) with the awesome brotherhood all Marines share no matter what. Thank you Dan! We appreciate it. Awesome service and very reasonable prices! When my vehicle wouldnt start, I did everything I could to find and fix the problem myself, but with no luck. Being a young lady, I expected a mechanic would charge me extra for stuff I didnt need, resulting in hundreds of dollars in towing, diagnostics, parts, and labor fees. I decided to try Smiths auto service for the first time and was surprised how quickly they got my vehicle up and running. I was even more surprised with the bill, less than $100 total (including towing). The customer service was awesome. There are a lot of shady mechanic shops in Jacksonville, but this isnt one of them. I will definitely be doing business with them again.

I had to replace both catalytic converters a tune up and evaporated leak. The pricing was more than fair and the mechanics were honest. I would definitely recommend them.

Charged $325 for storage fee for less than a week. Estimated work to be done was close to $800 for (2) tires and (2) rims on a car that didnt need rims. I called 3 times to find out if rims were broken and needed to be replaced, never got a call back. I did a little shopping around in the area, and found 4 tires for $250 (less than the price of 1 tire they wanted to charge a single mother). These folks take full advantage of folks who are in need of service. They are crooks! Stay away and dont use them. They forget they service a community of military income.

Smiths is a great locally owned business and towing company, I have personally known them for many years, they are very reliable in pricing and will tell you exactly whats wrong an give you an estimated price. I have and will use them again. Everyone there at either shops have friendly and great personalities., very honest.

I love these guys. The whole crew at both locations are knowledgeable and polite. They dont try to charge for stuff that your car doesnt even have like some places do. I have been using these guys for about 12 years now, and I dont take my car anywhere else if I have a choice in repair places.

Brought my car in this morning due to an issue. Came back in the afternoon and my car was still sitting in the same place. As soon as I walked in they took my car to the back. I was told they had to do a compression check. 5min later they brought my car out. Compression check takes longer than 5min. They didnt touch my car and told me I should take it to the dealership. A big waste of time.

For $25 they towed my car from my storage unit to their shop. I thought the alternator was dead in my car. However the mechanic took a look at it and found out I hooked the battery up incorrectly that was causing my battery to drain. They could have ripped me off and could have made an easy $300+ off of me, but they did not. I appreciate that and in return I will take my vehicle there next time I need it repaired

In May of 2014 Smiths replaced a catalytic converter on our mini van. It was done while I waited. The mechanic was very capable and did a great job. Being from out of state I was leery of being ripped off. This was very reasonable and far from that. These folks were very kind and professional.Thank you Smiths Auto Services.

Just another repair shop out to scam more money than a job is worth recently given price on job with a book time that is mechanics time to do job with hand tools not the air tools every shop has and my 4hr job was to cost me $545.00 with me providing the parts thats Over 136.00 per hr. RIDICULOUS

Very rude, signs were not notable at entry of food lion next to new river. Overly priced for towing almost 200 dollars for one day absolutely immoral. What average hard working man and woman can pay almost 200 dollars to get there car. People have to deal with other things in life. Never encountered a more unfair towing shop. I have buddies that have towing companies and they are in disbelief.

170 to get my car out of the tow lot with over 4000 dollars in valuables, had to sleep in streets because they would not let me retrieve anything. It was towed on a Saturday and closed the Sunday I tried to retrieve it. Just moved from Florida to North Carolina and the signs where not visible when entering shopping market from the entrance I took. Completely morally wrong

I drove all the way from new Bern to come here on a Saturday morning to have a exhaust put on my camaro SS and both of the guys I talked with were very friendly and the exhaust was put on fast and it looks and sounds great. Well worth the drive from new Bern and will definitely recommend this shop to anyone

Called for a rollback to have my truck hauled within 40 minutes they had my truck loaded and down the road. Every body i spoke with to include the operater was very respectful and pollite. I felt the price was reasonable for the distance. I would definately recommend and use the company again.

If I could give no stars I would. My fiancé used smiths at their other location and had a great time. I decided to get a 4 wheel alignment. Appointment was at 2 and didnt get seen until 2:30. Alignment was done and I drove off. The wheels were ok but the steering wheel was 15 degrees to the left. Took it back, tech went on drive with me and saw that it was wrong. He went to fix it and came back 15 minutes later. I drove off again and alignment on steering wheel was still 10 degrees to the right. I returned and he said why dont you come back onto the lift and do it with me....so I did. He threw me up in the car on the lift and I held the wheel level while he adjusted the tires again. Which is not legal btw.I finally drove off after the third time and the wheel was still off to the left. I called and asked for a refund because it had been 2 hours and 3 attempts. Manager and tech (mid 50s, missing both front teeth and sleeve tattoos on both arms) both agreed it was a me problem and that the tires were aligned and the wheel didnt matter. They insisted that my two front tires were so worn that it wouldnt allow them to align the wheel; I came into the shop with the wheel aligned and the tires were not moved. I couldnt even get a partial refund. David at the desk said I would have to buy two new front tires and then align again to which I decided to pass. BUYER BEWARE! When I told him the customer is always right he said we tried to make you happy as if I was the issue for wanting an aligned steering wheel AND tires. The vehicle is now in worse condition then it was previously.They are corrupt and not willing to meet customer satisfaction. I often love mom and pop shops for their service but this has left a bad taste in my mouth. Save your money and go to a large dealership with certified mechanics and a quality guarantee.
