Great shelter. Dorie is amazing and she is doing an fantastic job rescuing and find the right homes for the Akitas. I have rescued 2 dogs from her. One 13 years ago and one last year. I will continue to rescue from this shelter.

It warms the heart that there are a group of strongly-intelligent persons who are very invested into the well-being of this amazing dog breed. The team strive to help the animal and potential new owner with facts to prepare the new owner of this breed. This breed is special, and they are honest to what the animal requires for a safe environment. Trustworthiness, reliability and professionalism is what you will find with this society. Tacos, not so much, though.

I have adopted the most beautiful Akita from this amazing rescue. Dorie has dedicated her life to saving Akita’s from several states for years. She helps match the right dog with the right family. She is an Akita expert and one of the kindest people I have ever met. They’re simply the best!

Akita Rescue Society of Florida is amazing. They do great work trying to not only save Akitas in danger but to also educate people.

I have adopted 2 dogs from this wonderful organization! My first Akita was 14 years ago on Valentines Day, Dorie did her homework to make sure that she found a puppy for me because I had cats also rescues and when I brought TeddyBear home he and the cats became best friends so much so that the cats would go for walks outside with him, the reactions they would get was simply hilarious! Last year I had to make the decision to let Teddy go to the Rainbow Bridge, I was broken-hearted and not ready for another until the Memphis 9 came along and I knew I needed not a replacement but a new friend so Dorie once again saved me by allowing me to adopt Apache aka Booker an Akita mix whom just turned a year in June and I wouldnt trade for the world! I will always return to Akita Rescue for my Furbabies because I know they are well cared for and loved as if they are already home until they find their forever home! Thank you for all you do ARSF!
