Went here after leaving my high hopes @ home. Had been searching for a good dog for several weeks so I was pleasantly surprised at the 100 + selection they had available. There were so many to choose from I had to photograph several. Long story short, not only did I find a diamond in the rough, the staff made the adoption process painless, simple and relatively quick. They were friendly, helpful, and informative. Great job all around guys!
This is a mix bag here. I appreciate their mission but the humane society is kicking their bums. The facility is nice and modern but somehow I think they get the greatest proportions of mean dogs.I took my wife and 20 month old daughter to look at dogs for adoption and none fortunately fit the bill. Some super cute cats though
I thank its great what the workers are doing for the animals. The place were clean they have a lot of dogs. We seen one if they still have him that we might come to get. Thanks for taking care of the animals.
If you adopt a per from here and it doesnt work out between you and the pet. Youre stuck with the pet until the shelter is ready to take the pet back. Thirty days isnt long enough to determine if the pet is a good fit. A lot of these pets have no social interaction, so they become destructive, and this place will give your excuses, not solutions. Just awful. Go to the humane society. Better luck there. This shelter doesnt engage with the pets to help them find a forever home. Just sad
They shouldnt assign a case number for false animal complaints from people who call in and have no justification... especially when theyre not fully investigated properly.
They were very sincere and explained everything as to how to get my dog back. I do truly feel he was taken very good care of during his short stay. Thank you to whomever was able to find him and turn him in otherwise I might of never got my dog back.
The biggest takeaway for me is that the animals are very well taken care of. For the amount of animals in the location, it is surprising that they all seem to be in very good condition. We were surprised by how busy the location was so close to closing. Even with time winding down on their day, everyone was very helpful and took the time to answer every question. Once it was our turn at the counter the process was very informative and very swift. Id definitely recommend to anyone. These little guys need a loving home.
Most of the people were nice and a few werent. The first lady that we asked for help to get one of the cats to be in the little play area with was like whenever your done with her just come find me and Ill put her back which kinda was odd. The second lady was super nice about us asking for help and told us about adoption through them. The volunteers were great and told us the ways to go through the dog areas. Some dogs were aggressive then some were so scared to even come to the door (which I dont blame them) and some were injured but on the way to recovery. Met some really nice dogs tho. They have a wide range of dog areas to check out and kitten season is in full bloom.
The place is practically new facility and it was kept very clean for both dogs and cats. Easy to adopt, very helpful nice people that work there, plenty of parking and easy to find.the pictures on thier web site doesnt really represent what the pet looks like .if you are looking for a pet its best if you go there then decided from the web site. Great place and location .
All staff were very friendly and helpful. And I was adopted by my new best friend, who will be coming home with me Tuesday. Excited and very happy about that.
I think theyve undoubtedly done as much as could be done on a city program budget. The facility is clean, staff members work very hard and are very kind. The adoption process was straight forward and as described by the website. When working through my list of possible adoptees, the staff was very honest about potential concerns based on my home situation even when that made a dog not an option for me.
They are very nice there. I have previously adopted Dogs from them without hassle. The volunteers are just wonderful and know the animals entrusted to them. Very clean yet not sterile.
Zero communication. Misleading info on all related websites. Never answered the phone, I stayed on hold for over an hour. Doesnt read emails before responding. Wasted 60 bucks driving down here to drop off some stray kittens and they refused to take them because they were too big. Theyre like two months old. If there was a requirement I shouldve been made aware of that in their answering email. Absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional.
Officer Duren was great. She contacted me the next morning following my late-night computer submission of an animal in distress. She addressed the matter professionally by contacting my tenant who had been hospitalized. My tenant requested that Animal Care and Protective Services remove her very territorial dog that was secured in the home and two dogs in the fenced yard as she lack the ability to care for them. Officer Duren carried out my tenants request in a very humane manner. Thanks so much and continue being a superwoman!
The most amazing field operators Officer Kelly was very gentle with a sick malnourished kitten end result we found it a great home immediately!! God is good! Ps officer Turner is also great but hats off to Ms Kelly!
SOME of the employees were nice, the girl with brown hair and glasses kicked many customers out, including me. I was there at 4:30 and it was packed it took a while to talk to some one and half of the dogs were owned or had a down payment and there was no sign on them to let us know . She kicked us out 5 minutes before closing (6) and told us to come back tomorrow to see the dog we had asked to see a while before. The service is unprofessional there is no method it’s random people walking up and back from the desk. The girl with the glasses was rude as hell to me and the other customers.
They rescued the dog right away love them
Adopted a pet, yet had to return due to being too old and granddaughter did not like him jumping and scratching her all the time. Very friendly yet aggressive and was told he was 5 months but by his size he was surly going to be bigger then the 40 lbs they stated, since he was already 29 lbs when we got him. Granddaughter allergic. Very clean facility and had a lot of people adopting pets when we were there. Were looking for a small dog that will not be more then 10-15 lbs.
I dropped off some donation items; my dog passed away and I had a lot of items that were used but had been expensive because it was for a large dog and I couldnt use them. Staff was friendly, adoptable pets looked happy and were tempting. Donation drop off was super easy.
Very friendly staff. Easy process.
Adopt dont shop!! Great experience with adopting my first puppers several years back. When I am ready to adopt again, I know where to go.
I love taking my dog there. The staff and doctors are very caring and loving to the pets. And helpful to the owners.
So helpful. And I donated food my own pets wont eat.
Wonderful staff. Wonderful animals. So happy we adopted from acps. The facilities are great. The people working there really care.
I walk in. I asked three questions. She answers each question with an attitude. She then tells me she cant hear me so I have to remove my mask. Finally, still standing there yet to be able to view adoptable dogs. She continues to argue and have an attitude the entire conversation for no reason. Went in knowing that I would leave with a new family pet yet leaving mad.
Emailed a request/concern during off-hours. Response was timely and very informative and helpful. Calling any city service right now seems to be a nightmare....email still exists! 😉
Great agency doing wonderful things to help our furry friends .
I went in and needed help with my dying cat and the morning emergency care unit woman was very rude. She gave an attitude the whole time and we ended up having to leave because I felt like my cat would be in mean hands. She is white, brunette, heavier weight, and about 56. Please put nicer and more empathetic people at the front.
Would love to foster a puppy but they never have any.
We were pleasantly surprised with this facilities modern building, accessible location and friendly professional staff. Its readily apparent that a lot of loving people are dedicated to the many dogs and cats sheltered here and Jacksonville is very fortunate to have such a well run and accommodating shelter! We will definitely be donating more items in the future.
If you are trying to help a stray dont bother bringing them here. I waited on the phone for literally 40 minutes just so the city could give me tons of incorrect information. I didnt really want to trap a cat and drive 45 minutes one way just to be told they arent going to help. You could fill a warehouse with the bad information they gave me. Supposedly the 630 CITY number connects to someone that doesnt work at ACPS and has no idea whats going on. Just leave the stray where you found it. I just saved you a lot of time and energy. Youre welcome.
They have more older pets than younger but I met my best friend that day. Its been an paw-some relationship ever since. 😊
Nicest people to me,took care of a stray that was hurt.best loving and caring people you would want to meet. Thank you LADIES
Very helpful and knowledgeable. Was in and out quickly.
When I went in, there was a dog that had diabetes, he had a room all to himself. We asked why this one dog was behind the counter, they said she was finishing her heartworm treatments. There They spend so much time with each individual dog and cat there. They have the most talkative kittens 2 with one eye and still such a bright & shiny personalitys! They do their best to get the seniors out first.. Ive never seen an adoption where the bigger dogs cost less to adopt than the smaller ones. They even had Christmas discounts and food to go home with the animal you adopted. My husband and I did one of their sleepovers with the dog we adopted. They worked so hard to make sure they got along. At the end they said theyd wouldnt allow Tiny (the dog we ended up adopting) to go home on the car With Sully(her new 4 legged brother) even if they seemed to be fine with each other and I think that was showed great concern for her!.. how sweet, a few employees even came out to see Tiny off, say goodbye and give her hugs!I visited on 12/9/2019 just to look, but ended up bringing home a new friend! She now gets along well with both Barkly and Sully in her forever home!
This place is the bees knees. Yall need to getchurself a baby from here
Friendly staff. Very helpful in finding my new dog.
Adopted my kitten. They do a good job, but could use lots more volunteers.
Very kind clean and quick got my puppy quickly and had no issues
My husband and I were just doing a check it out thing. The center was clean from the front to the back. The staff was professional and helpful. I think they really care about what they do. This was my first time and I was very pleased with all that I saw.
Very caring staff, over 380 dogs and cats. Go adopt a new best friend!
They did a Great job with a handling a situation that I called before
Very bad volunteers who do not want to accept animals. They beg you to take them home and were very harsh with the animals.
During hurricane Irma a black German shepherd came up. He was skinny and his puppy collar was choking him.He was a sweet dog, but had no discipline. He would not stay in the yard.At some point a stray Chihuahua came up with Admiral. New name for the shepherd.Admiral would jump up on my neighbors and thank them by stealing there shoes left outside. My neighbor scolded me about disciplining the dog, then the next day rings the doorbell and says Im going to have to do something about the dogs!I called Animal Control to pick up the dogs, and the officer gave me a ticket because they hadnt had there shots.Every animal I had at this home I bought since 1999 has had their shots.Mean spirited. No respect for senior citizens who just had pity on a starving stray after a hurricane.
Caring and loving place. Highly recommend
They harassed me at work and once I left work to resolve the problem they couldnt even answer theyre phone. That goes for the department an theyre rude officer who thought it would be nice to threaten me once I did get ahold of her. Know Im homeless she proceeded to tell me she was going to throw the book at me
This facility is amazing. Our family was in a state of panicked sadness. They made us feel better. Immediately could breathe and focus again. Thank God for staff like theirs that care as much as you do
Nice place... kinda of empty but thats a good thing. Friendly staff & clean location. I enjoyed coming and looking at the fuzzy ones.
I made a compliant about the bunch of stray cats but theyre still out here
Ive been a customer here for many years but today was special because at approximately 5:15ish, there was almost NO MEAT!! WTH??!!
Waited for over 2 hours and ended up leaving. We were the second to last people there and were waiting to see a cat and had been waiting a while when finally we asked how much longer and they said oh, well the people that were in front of you never showed and their appointment was an hour ago...I was pretty irritated because all it takes is communication. I did not end up adopting from here. Drove an hour away to another humane society and had better luck.
I adopted here and found my forever pup! I did a sleepover first. The adoption process was super straightforward and I’m very thankful for the low adoption prices
They do the best they can. Very noisy for adoptions.
They did a great job with a dog we picked up to foster last week. Much more was done from a veterinary care standpoint than we normally see when picking up a dog from a shelter. The staff really cared about his welfare.
I love ACPS. I adopted my doggo from here! Of course I picked the most anxious, scared dog, but she loves her people!! I will say, I have dropped off donations 2x since & while I dont need to be fawned over for donating, a thank you WOULD be nice. Both times: walked in, donation? Ok, put it here.. and then silence and they walk away.
There was a small line outside. Friendly service and the process was easy.
Thanks to everyone else for helping me find my adventurist dog. You can call but I suggest you just walk in and talk to them. So grateful.
We love ACPS. We have fostered for them as well as adopted from them, they truly love and care for the animals that come through there. All babies are fixed, chipped and vaccinated. Someday, I hope to have time to volunteer with them. They have lots of sweet babies there that need love and a fur-ever home.
What an amazing facility! We didnt find the little fur baby we were looking for but will be back.
Low cost services make it mush more feasible for our family to continue to foster strays. We have used them twice for pregnant stray cats they we took in and were able to have both families fully vetted and rehomed due to the affordable pricing and grant programs they offer
The staff is absolutely wonderful. Casey helped me through an extremely rough time with the my 2 girls and I am so thankful she helped me to explore the best option she felt was suited for me. This facility has come a very long way and the investment they put in their people shows. Keep up the awesome work. 👍👍
The people that work there seem to really care for, and want the best for the animals. Some animals have anxiety from the circumstances but once they get settled into your home, after a few days, you can really see how they calm down. I really recommend considering adopting a pet from here. The price is next to nothing and they give you a care package when you do your 2 week test period. They are also looking for fosters if youd like to give a dog a temporary, less stressful home, until they find their forever home.
Someone found my dog and turned her in. They say they will call you to let you know when to pick them up but they do t
Řeally caring staff. Followed up with my interest about a wounded dog. Thank you for saving that puppy
I was trying to have a dog that doesnt get along with other dogs. This is mean and thay doesnt believe me they refused the animal which is sad
Very clean and they take care of the animals, staff was super friendly. Got our new sweet dog today with special needs and they provide all medication ..... Definitely a to go place if you are looking to give a pet a new forever home. And also in the covid situation they keep all meassure to keep all save. Awesome place you can walk free around to look at all pets and take your time, if you see a nice dog they have rooms where you can spend time with them to ensure its the right dog. 10 stars
I called for information about a cat that I thought was lost, what I was told over the phone and what I actually found out when I arrived, wasnt told over the phone they only accept cats under two pounds, wasnt told cats would have to be taken to another place to be neutered/sprayed and eventually released back to where they were picked up at, I understand there are rules and procedures, but I known up front during the phone chat, I would have left the cat alone.
Nice people who seem to really care for the animals
They never showed up.. it was 4 days and no one came for the dog. So I would say dont worry about calling them.
Can’t be bothered to answer the phone f go
My mom and I adopted two Kittys from here. The ladies were so helpful and polite. Especially patient with my mom. 🙂
Terrible experience! Waited in line for close to an hour while the attendant told several people that they could not accept their cats. No option offered except listing the pets online. Did the same to me since the young cat was over 4 lbs and was a stray living in my yard. Nothing posted on website alerting people to this. If they dont take domesticated strays, where are our tax dollars going?
We needed information about getting our 6month old BullTerrier vaccinated for his license. I went in but didnt get the answer he was looking for so he went in. In a few minutes he was out accompanied by a supervisor. She was very friendly and most helpful. Since we are not really sure of Smokies exact age becase we rescued him, she said he couldnt be seen because he looked youner than 6mths to her. She gave us a coupon for 1st office visit at NoMoreHomeless Pets, where they have discounted services. The place was very clean and inviting.Rescue your next pet from there!
Highly recommend!! Best place to rescue/adopt an animal. They have so many animals to choose from. You can also have a sleep over to see if the animal fits well into your family (or with other animals in your family). The paperwork can take a while but staff makes the process as quick and painless as possible. Staff is friendly and helpful if you have any questions or concerns. :)
Great place to adopt your new baby (dogs and cats)
This is our second time adopting. Both times we were there the facility was clean. There were plenty of people around to answer questions. The staff was able to give us a good history on the animal. We were able to spend time with the animal. Both adoptions were perfect additions to our family. The staff is friendly and enthusiastic. You can tell they legitimately care for all of the animals. If your looking to afoot definitely start here. Process are really resonable and they always give you a starter pack to get you started. They also give you very detailed health history on your new pet.
My Little Bit was placed on the website and kept safe for me. He even got microchipped ! Very professional and pleasant
Love The special people who work here thanks so much for helping me rescue. God bless you all 🙂
Nice really nice the staff was nice professional and very helpful 👍🏻☺️.
I feel sure that the officers in the field are trying their best to take good care of their assigned cases to the best interest of the animal. My frustration came from the people taking my calls. I gave them my address with the unit number. The first person I spoke with neglected to note the unit number so wasted the officers time who I never met but apparently had driven by the complex looking for the lost, stray dog. I called back and spoke to a second person clearly stating the unit number where I had temporarily contained the dog in distress. She took the unit number down incorrectly and a notice of an unsuccessful visit was left 10 units away and 3 days later at the wrong address... again wasting an officers valuable time, mine and ultimately the poor animals.
I have needed these people several times for different cat, dog issues and I have NEVER gotten through to them and they have NEVER contacted me in any mattet when I contacted them by email. Waited on hold for 20 minutes just to be told 630 city is un available. Their phone number, then it hangs me up! Very, very, very sad and disappointed!!! I have needed help and they are not there!!!! Whats the name of this place again?? ANIMAL CARE AND PROTECTIVE SERVICES!!!! Zero stars!
Ive been looking for a new dog for several months after my other passed away and each time they were understanding, empathetic and more than eager to help me as much as possible. So many pit mixes in here so if you dont have breed restrictions where you live I urge you to give a pit a chance. It could save both of your lives.
We got a very sweet kitten here and the staff was great!!
