For me, these programs are second to none. If you feel like something is missing from your training, this is the place to find answers.

I came to Rister International Martial Arts because i was interested in learning Kali. I learned of the location from a friend who is also attending classes here. I came in with no previous martial arts experience what so ever at felt completely welcome by everyone who was there. With the multiple weekly classes and many offered Saturday seminars there are many opportunities to attend and further your knowledge. Awesome instruction and a great group of people.

There are a lot of reasons to love training in this system, but here are a few: *Well structured*: When I started the Rister system almost a year ago, I had only a cursory knowledge of FMA, but I was able to jump into a more experienced group and gain a strong foundation in movement and angles, and the curriculum builds intuitively from there. *Practical*: Jon Rister cuts out the showiness of other weapons arts and focuses on techniques that are sensible, practical, and effective. I personally care more about self-defense than any kind of competition, and I appreciate that he is very clear in the curriculum about which movements are for drilling/gaining dexterity and which are intended for combat/protection. *Genuine*: Training with Jon Rister is always a pleasure because there is zero ego in his instruction. Ive attended other seminars where it became clear quickly that what the system is selling is a name or a personality, but Rister is all about the training--hes humble, encouraging, obviously extremely knowledgeable, and a natural teacher. Each time I train Rister kali, I feel like Im not only gaining skill but also growing as a martial artist, and Im proud to be affiliated with him.

Rister Martial Arts keeps the mix of traditional with modern tactics alive. I really enjoy working with these guys. They focus on the tactics and ways to combat against various opponents. The mentality is real. I had some martial arts experience before and found this to fit my interest of martial arts. There is a lot of knowledge here. Make sure you get with the guys that know what theyre doing.

Extremly talented instructor. This place is a hidden gem. This is some of the best training in Texas, much less the U.S. This is real world practical training. Literally a game changer and worth the drive where ever you are coming from.

Guro Rister’s Kali curriculum is great! I’ve been following it for a while now, and the way it progresses is very well done. He recently came to Ohio and did a seminar over the material. It was an amazing experience! Guro Rister is very knowledgeable and I highly recommend the school and his association.

Sifu Jon Rister has really opened my eyes and helped me realize many aspects of JKD, Wing Chun, and kali that had eluded my training for many years. His Vimeo curriculum has helped me study at my pace and according to my needs. I appreciate his honesty and sharing of wisdom. I look forward to many more years of training under him. His understanding and experience in bladed arts is incredible.

Went to many other schools before l found Mr. Rister. He teaches the art how it should be for real life situations that you may come across. All the guys and girls in class are like a family we all help each other to get better without judgement. If youre serious about learning a real skill this is the best place in dfw. Highly reconmended.

Only place you need to go for martial arts in Texas. With over 30 years experience with Guro Inosanto and Sifu Francis Fong as his instructors, Sifu Jon Rister is the best in his field.
