Wide space with a good variety of machines and training facilities. Clean and well ventilated.

Claire was my rep over the phone and she explained in great detail the facilities, and the memberships available before I made the trip in. Once there, the staff walked me through the facility in a friendly manner. Tons of nice equipment and their website even lists the busiest times of the day to workout. I highly recommend the Sycamore location in Iowa city, and any Planet Fitness if they are all the prompt and friendly.

Other than that, I have no complaints and this location is everything youd expect from a PF location.In response to: Our club may have implemented modified hours in order to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable gym for our PF family. No, the owner wanted to save money on labor and operating costs so they decided to be cheap and close a portion of the day. The hours literally have nothing to do with cleanliness or safety but nice attempt at an explanation.

Ive been a member for almost four years. The staff is wonderful and they work very diligently to keep the facility well sanitized and safe.

4 stars because its the best value option during this tragic time. On a normal year this would struggle to keep and maintain 3 stars. We know the planet fitness pros and cons for anyone who is looking to push for an above average look and build. Given the hours its open, the cheap price and the size of the building, Im willing to sacrifice and improvise my workout a little bit in these trying times. Im gone once things return to normal.

Seriously needs new equipment. Some of it feels like it was in a wet basement for a while.

Was crowded and fairly clean but as was said before the equipment has seen heavy use. Saw a decent amount of fit girls here, most pretty damn cute too. Caught a few of the friendly staff cleaning, always a plus.

Workers are nice but people are not. Womens bathroom is really clean. Machines or any type of equipment you need to clean before and after each use. They have about 10 TVs to watch something different and they have social distancing between each machine. I will still be coming back to work out for my own purposes to meet my goals. Good selection of equipment, not to crowded and equipment is in good condition. Facilities are clean and staff is respectful and kind. Subtracting 1 star due to them closing early on the weekends.

Compared to other Planet Fitness, this one is very outdated. I have been to them in Wisconsin, very nice. The ones in Alaska are nice also. But this one is old and tired.

I had a membership that I paid for the year as per contract. I didn’t want to renew for the next year because I didn’t use it to begin with. I call to cancel, employee tells me to email them to cancel. I do that and no response from them. I call them 5 days later and I had to resend because they couldn’t find the email. Bottom line is they couldn’t refund my annual fee of $41.00 because of the 7 day window. Tiny print on contract so it’s an oversight. Buyers beware. Another way of making a quick buck .

Kristine is amazing! She’s extremely friendly and such a sweet lady. She was very helpful with any questions I had and really made my experience a positive one.The gym is clean and there’s a wide variety of equipment to use. You never have to worry about not finding a machine to use because there’s so many to choose from.The staff are all very friendly, and the level of service and equipment you have access to as a basic member is well, well worth the cost. Definitely recommend this location!

The most archaic cancellation policy Ive ever heard of. They cant do it over the phone. They cant do it over e-mail. They need a mini essay about why Im cancelling sent to them through the postal service for their own documentation purposes. I definitely would have rejoined when I moved back into town, but such an anti-consumer and anti-convenience practice turns me off so bad that Ill never give them a dime again.

My wife and I wanted someplace close by our house, so Planet Fitness was less than a mile or so away. We are both doing the typical New Years resolution, losing weight, which is important more for me as I am a diabetic and considering weight loss surgery soon. I signed up late Sunday night, got the premium membership for the amenities PF offered, and my wife and I went on Monday to work out.Lots of equipment was available, and the 30 minute circuit room excited my wife because it looked exactly like Curves workout equipment. Tuesday, we had signed up for a tour with Josh McC, one of the trainers. He talked with us about the equipment, showed us the weight machines, and how to use them safely. He was polite, knowledgeable, and available for questions. Kristine introduced herself as we were waiting to use the hydro bed and massage chairs.Kristine is the epitome of customer service, and her attitude was bright and cheerful. She introduced us to other aspects of our membership, and was helpful with giving us more knowledge about the app, various workout videos, and other perks.I am looking forward to losing weight, and using other PF facilities if this is a standard example for PF business. Thanks!!!

Kristine the general manager is very considerate, nice and it shows that she really cares about the needs of the guests. I come in and she says hi and remembers me.I leave and she says see you next time. I look forward to going to workout. I love the non judgmental part of Planet Fitness. I love the 30 minute circuit, it is so well set up.The massage chair, tanning, hydro massage beds and other extra amenities with the $20 membership are worth paying the extra $10. Cant wait to go agian soon.

A great place to work out if you wanna lose weight and maybe tone a bit, but due to the fact that theres 4 total bars with more than 60 lbs, you can’t really do much weightlifting unless you plan on going in between 1-3 pm every day or you’re just really creative with your lifts

I absolutely love this gym! It doesn’t matter how busy they are they always have enough equipment for everyone. They have a wide assortment of weight machines, free weights, exercise bikes, treadmills, elliptical machines, and a TON of fitness training classes too! The manager and everyone who works there are extremely helpful and willing to help you with any fitness questions you have. Also, the locker room is enormous and has very nice showers that you can use after your workout. I highly recommend this gym. It’s VERY inexpensive and has a nice/no judgment type of atmosphere that any and all people can feel comfortable in :-) I love it! 😀👍

I go to U of I and it’s always so busy at the rec. I went to planet fitness to try their gym and it was easy and quick to sign up. They have a lot of equipment. And it’s not packed 24/7. They have a lot of resources like tanning, classes, massage chairs..etc. The GM Kristine sighed me up as a black card member today. She was awesome! Thanks again Kristine!

Ive been a member for a few years. During the last few months seeing a female manager added to the team of workers. Has made a big difference. Much cleaner, you feel welcomed coming in. The guy manager is awesome too.Just needed a womans touch.Thanks

I’ve been a member since it opened. Have always had a positive experience. The place is clean and well maintained. The staff and especially the current trainer is very knowledgeable and patient with even silly questions.I have about 1500 check ins. And the hydro bed is my favorite machine.

Latest line of life fitness equipment but poorly maintained. Hate it when I have to scratch myself up during a workout when it only takes a few bucks to keep things in good working order. Was told my the assistant manager that this is a difficult time since this location is coming up on its 5buear cycle for new equipment. The machines here are the latest line and just need new pads.. lets geter done management!!. Notified general manager of the issue as well.

We are new to town and new to Planet Fitness. We moved from a place where were members of an excellent YMCA and first tried the city rec centers. They just don’t have the equipment that we were looking for and parking was a huge hassle. We decided to try PF and really loved it right away. Josh gave us a great orientation demonstrating the machines and emphasizes form and starting with small steps. There are a ton of machines here for all kinda of cardio and several weight machines for each muscle group so we have never had to wait. They have a 30 minute circuit just like Cutves that I’m excited to try. Kristine the general manager greeted us our second visit and was generous with her time showing us the app and water massage beds. Everyone has been so kind and courteous and being a bigger person I really feel comfortable here - they live the “no judging” motto. People of all shapes, sizes and colors are here and just doing their own thing. I would highly recommend the black membership. My spouse and I both got one - you get free use of the massage area, free coaching and classes and can bring one free guest with you which means my teens can come with and we are paying way less than our family membership at our old Y. Check it out!

Its just good

I have taken a few classes with the trainer and he was great with taking the time to explain things to me and do so even when I hadnt signed up. The equipment is really all Ive used but it id well maintained and self explanatory if you prefer not working with others. I havent used any free weights but theyre usually busy. The gym is open and accessible almost at any hour. The aqua massage is bliss after a workout. Overall great place for a budget friendly price.

Fitness associates are helpful and friendly. They ensure all the stations are stocked and social distancing guidelines are followed.

I LOVE Planet Fitness! It is so clean...staff is cleaning in and around equipment daily. The staff is super friendly...they call you by name and give a shout out on your way in and out of the gym. Kristine even called me last week when I was sick at home and she noticed I was absent several days. I love the wide variety of equipment...makes for a chsngeup in my workouts. I, also, like the wide variety of ages, abilities, and ethnic backgrounds. Planet Fitness energizes me!

Wish I could give it a better review but month after month we were told that our automatic deposit was coming out and then would be told it did not come out but they never ever knew why. Nobody seemed to know anything about the payment ever. We were ready to find another gym. We tried another bank account and it worked for once this month.The equipment is fine and its clean

The laid back atmosphere makes it an easy gym to workout in. Plenty of equipment and people on staff to help you use it properly. Very friendly staff, too. Everyone from the elderly to teens (accompanied by a parent ) are welcome here.

Planet fitness is a good place to workout! My friend and I have been coming here to work out and Kristine is such an amazing person always giving us compliments and it makes us feel good and motivated to keep on going staff are very nice people! Overall I love this gym and will keep on coming here!

As a Planet Fitness employee in another state the status of this gym wasn’t up to par. With new management there has been a drastic change in every aspect in a positive direction. The major areas being customer service, cleaning, and accountability. Kristine has done a very good job with little time she’s been in management!

I come to the gym as a guest. Have always felt welcome. The gym is always clean and staff is always pleasant. The new GM Kristine seems to go above and beyond to visit with the members before and after workouts. Have also seen her walking around the floor giving thumbs up to everyone.

I was hesitant on giving it a 4 star due to lack of weight equipment (free weights, assisted dips, etc.), however I can’t complain with how many treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bikes there are. Quite impressive. Love how clean it is, makes me want to come back. Tanning beds could be cleaned a little better after sessions, but that’s just me being picky. Would recommend this planet fitness!!

Its cheap, as PF always is, but this location is not that crowded in comparison. Also, their equipment is well maintained IMO.

First time there ever. When I went into the locker room and went to open a locker, the door almost fell off due to damage that someone had done to it! Also, lots of dirt and tore up papers laying around! The equipment that I was using as in cable machine was damaged along with the elliptical that I used. It made me appreciate the planet fitness in Sterling Illinois that I work out in! I even called the manager back home to tell her how happy I am with the Sterlinggym and she should be proud of how well her and her staff take care of it unlike the Iowa city gym!!I would give this less than one star, but I have to give at least one otherwise it would be a negative!!!

Great gym so far. Always clean with an atmosphere of gym friendliness (generally people kind of do their own thing, but will smile). The location is what really makes this place so great. I love that I can work out before or after going to Luckys.

I love this fitness center. It is big, clean, and the staff is always very friendly. There isnt a single person working there that wouldnt be willing to help you out if you need anything or have questions. I never dread going to the gym having a membership here.

Lots of equipment and they clean regularly

This is a great place. Lots of people of all ages and backgrounds are there whenever I go and nobody seems to act inconsiderate or rude like at some other gyms. Josh went above and beyond to make me feel welcome as a new member and even brought secondary revisions to the custom workout plan he designed for me. There are always quite a few people there in the mornings, but there is plenty of each type of equipment so you never have someone standing there waiting for you to finish. Also the layout/design of the bathroom/shower/changing room/locker room is perfect for getting ready for work after exercising.

Ive always loved this gym. Ive never experienced poor service. However, I must say that Kristine has most certainly been a WONDERFUL ADDITION to your club!.... Our club!!! Shes very sweet, supportive and very knowledgable! Shes right on the ball and always with a smile!!!

The promotion is a lie.. they have hidden fees and overcharged my card causing a negative balance. Other people I know have said the same. I’m canceling my subscription immediately. No honor at all smh. If I could give negative-30 stars like they took -30$ from me after I signed up for the 20c down 10$ a month plan I would! First of all it wasn’t 20c down it was 3.35$ and secondly they didn’t charge 10$ the next month they charged me 30$ a couple days after I signed up! Such bs. Never even got to go there before all the trouble began. I would not recommend doing business with such deceit liars.

Travelling reviewer here :. Hits... Friendly welcoming staff. They recognized that was from out of town and welcomed me. Nice clean club. Not to busy at off peak midmorning weekday. Seems to be a city of cute chicks here. Nice well adjusted massage chair one of the better ones Ive tried. Nice assortment of all the typical machinesand what I thought was extra good was a really well-thought-out placement of the cleaning stations. No matter what machine I picked there was always a station within a few paces. Not like that at every location. Nice warm shower as well. Only low point... Old first gen shower stalls. Somewhat loose faucet handle. But I found them nice and clean..including the curtain. An nice club Ill look forward to stopping back.

Very affordable. There are lots of different people who go there, and sharing equipment is always pretty easy to do.Nothing over 75lbs available for free weights, however, and there isnt a bench or sqaut rack in the building, so thats kinda sad.

I’m a scrawny 23 year old who walked in having no idea what she was doing! The gym can be a scary place, but the staff here work to make the environment great! I feel comfortable asking questions and asking for help. Plus there is a lot of various equipment for anyone’s needs. Every time you come in and leave someone is greeting you. Plus the hydro massage rocks. Definitely worth the investment!

Lots of machines to get a good workout and plenty of space.

The hours arent the greatest, even before covid. Only open 24hrs on certain days. Im usually having to get up super early to get my workout in because my job makes me work long hours.

It’s a great gym, with plenty of equipment. Kristine has taken really good care of me to make sure I have a satisfying experience every time.

I enjoy the many different things they offer. It’s a great environment to be in and the staff is very welcoming!

Staff is friendly. Equipment is well maintained. Good variety. It would be 5 stars if the weekend hours were a little bit later. I also almost always have to wait for a smith machine or cable machine, but generally not too long (I think the most I’ve waited is about 10 minutes). But if you go in for anything else, you’re pretty much good to go.I always dreaded the idea of working out at a gym, but pretty much go to PF every day. It’s inspiring to see people of all ages, body types and experience levels in one place working out together.

I actually like it. My 16, year old comes along and she loves it. We really enjoy the 30 minute circuit. The only downfall is it says open 24 hours Monday through Friday. BUT closer early on Friday. I can understand the different hours on the weekend BUT at least be open until midnight on Friday. Otherwise that I would HIGHLY recommend it.

Planet fitness in Iowa city is clean and has a lot of machines. But most of all Christine and her employees make you feel wanted to help you any way they can and that’s why I give them a five stars

Ive been going here for a while, the building is clean and the staff is friendly. But what wrecks my experience is the creepy older men staring at me. Look I dont mind a glance or two but when these pervs are just straight up staring at me its incredibility distressing and Ive reported it to staff but they havent done much to help. Which is a shame sense the rest of the gym is so nice. :/

Great prices for the membership. The staff is a mixture of either very rude, or very helpful and courteous. This place suffers constantly with keeping a trainers. The manager is very rude to guests and I have seen him verbally abuse his employees in front of customers. This location also, lacks size and equipment.
