NO STARS! I rented a truck by phone 2 weeks prior to moving. Received confirmation at the time of rental and the day before we were to pick up the truck. We get to the Budget on N. Keystone in Indianapolis and the Budget employee was helping someone else. We sat down. After about 10 mins the employee looks at us and asks if we were there for a truck. After we said yes, she proceeded to nonchalantly tell us that they have no trucks. So at first I was just a little confused and said excuse me??? we have confirmation that we had a truck reserved. She said the trucks are out of service. She was not apologetic in the least. I then got very upset and said we have people meeting at our house to move what the (blankety blank) are we supposed to do? In the mean time the customer ahead of us looks at me and tells us that the same thing happened to them the day before - came to pick up the truck that they reserved for Friday and budget didnt have any trucks!!! They had to reschedule their move and as you might suspect, they were not happy with Budget either. The employee proceeded to tell me that I could try another location to see if they have any trucks. The other customer told her that she should try to find another truck for us - that was her job. The employee just ignored us and never said another word to us. I screamed that I was going to give them the worse blankety blank reviews that I can along with a few more choice words. I then had to gather myself and after realizing that this wasnt just a bad dream, stormed out the door. I have to admit I hardly ever curse but in that moment in time I had the worse potty mouth within the city limit - I apologize to the other customers in the store. Anyway, after much calling and visiting other truck rental businesses we were able to find a smaller Uhaul on the other side of town. Funny thing is that I was going to rent a Uhaul because it was closer to our house and I have always rented from them but Budget was cheaper so, I chose them. As you can see, that was a huge mistake. As they say, cheaper is not always better. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE be careful about renting from Budget. I wouldnt want someone else to go thru what we did - it just added alot more stress to an already stressful day -moving day.
Unreliable. I reserved a truck almost A full month in advance. I received a phone call 3 days before my move from someone at Budget informing me that they no longer had the truck available and we’re canceling my reservation. They offered no solutions and no alternative trucks, only a 1-800 number with outsourced support reading from a script. I’m not sure how it’s possible to reserve a truck that they don’t have unless they just don’t know how to manage their business.I called the 1-800 support number and asked for it to be escalated to find an alternate truck from an alternate location and was willing to drive up to 25 miles and delay my start time. The support rep was nice and took down my info and said I would receive a call within two hours. I never received a call. I will never use budget again and I will advocate to everyone I know to never use budget.
The worst service, the 800 number is not worth dialing as the agents only read from a script. They offer NO solutions or options. I had a 2nd rented reserved, I would rater pay the extra $200 at Penske than deal with the stress and unprofessionalism of Buget, you get what you pay for and the equipment was terrible!
Please do not rent with Budget! They called me less than 24 hours before my move and said that they had no truck for me and had zero options. Just sorry we dont guarantee that we will give you a truck. Go to UHaul. or Penske. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON SUCH A TERRIBLE COMPANY.
I dont even want to give the company 1 star... I get a truck it breaks down a mile from the location but of course they are closed had to wait 2 hrs for roadside assistance and then he didnt have the part to fix it so waited another hr. Thank God I was broke down in what I thought was a good neighbor. Then I get to my location to pack up my mother and I find out the trucks drive shaft is about to break down. Had to wait 2 days to get a truck and then it didnt get there till after 5. They have the gull to give me $75. ( and I had to complain about that) to satisfy me?! Not a happy person about this company. So if they are so busy they cant maintain their truck, they need to close because someone is going to get hurt.
I arrived to pick up the truck I reserved yesterday, and after waiting in line for about 15 minutes, the entire room was informed that there were no cars or trucks available for pick up. All of us had made reservations. My ride had already left. I had a whole crew waiting on me to show up with a truck for our moving day, and the girl just said there are no trucks, so there is nothing to be done about it... There were 13 trucks sitting in the parking lot. She said they were all broken, and just because we reserved them, didnt mean they were available. I had my ride come pick me up, and called their corporate office, and they told me that an inventory specialist would call me back in 15 minutes to two hours... Never did. Luckily we were able to find a truck at another location on our own, or we would have had to cancel the entire move day. Bizarre and infuriating.
This place is a COMPLETE scam. Rented a truck a month ago. They sent me an email to tell me they cancelled it. I tried to call, they sent me to some dude who had nothing to do with their store who just said, “yep, we had to cancel it. Nothing I can do.” What a freaking joke. Don’t use this place unless you’re too incompetent to read their awful reviews. Budget... You’re a joke.
Love the Manager here! She is so professional and does a great job! Thank you for all you do and making this such a smooth process!
The worst truck rental place I’ve ever been to! I booked a 12 ft truck online. I get to the keystone budget truck and the man tells me they only have 16 ft trucks and that’s what I have to take. We used the truck for literally 2 hours to move a couch. They took a $150 deposit which is fine knowing I’ll get most of it back. I drop the truck off and the keys in the slot 2 hours later and they’re closed. Not a big deal. 3 days later the $150 pending charge on my account is gone. No charge. It takes 2 weeks later and I’m charged $140! We didn’t even use a forth of a tank of gas. Biggest rip off of my life. The man told us it would be around $65 for what we were going to do. I don’t event want to call the store because the man behind the counter is creepy and rude. At least I know I’ll never use budget truck again.
I was just there to return a moving truck that I rented out of state. So this review is solely based on my experience for returning a truck. The transaction went very smoothly. And I was able to walk in and walk out in less than 15 minutes. I will definitely rent out with them again.
Good morning. About 2 weeks ago, I reserved a 26-foot truck on the Budget Truck Rental website and received a confirmation number. I went to the North Keystone Avenue location in Indianapolis Indiana expecting to pickup the 26-foot truck but was rudely welcomed by your manager by the name of Bobby. I say rudely welcomed because when I asked him about the reservation I made he immediately informed me that the truck was not available and that I would need to call the 1-800 number to make other arrangements. I stood there for a second because I felt the his answer was very brief and he just wanted me to leave the facility as soon as possible. As I stood there Bobby again inform me with a slightly louder tone that I needed to contact the 1-800 number if I needed further assistance and that the 26-foot truck was not available. So without further discussion, I left the location and called the 1-800 number and was told that I can receive a 16-foot truck with 200 free miles. I went back to your North Keystone Avenue location and proceeded and completed a rental of a 16-foot truck with the manager Bobby but noticed that as we were going over the contract he just told me to initial and sign the contract but didnt inform me of what I was consenting to or what I was signing. Also he did not walk around the truck with me but gave me a clipboard and told me to Circle off any damage that I see on the truck confirm the mileage and bring the clipboard back to him. There was one couple in the office at the time who had completed their rental but Bobby still for some reason chose not to do a walk around the truck with me or verify the mileage. if you check your records youll see that I have rented a truck from your company several times and have kept trucks from your company up to a month or more and paid the balance in full. I sell Surplus on eBay and Amazon and found that I needed the truck to pick up additional loads longer than expected. So I kept the truck. If there was an issue, I expected Bobby or someone for your company to call me and tell me that I would need to bring the truck back or pay additional money to keep it longer which is what happened in the past. I did not receive a call from anyone until after 13 days, thats when I received a call from your loss prevention department who informed me that the truck will be reported stolen if I didnt return it immediately. I returned the truck the next morning with a full tank of gas I cleaned out the truck to the best of my ability with the dolly and blankets it originally came with. a few days later I noticed that I received a $2,020 charge from your company. When I tried to contact Bobby this morning and have him explain why Id be charged $2,000 he told me that he was too busy to explain what was going on and that he did not know an exact time or an approximate time that he could call me back and explain what was going on but he did let me know that there was no one else in the company that I could talk to about the situation and that he was the only one that will be dealing with the situation. basically that there was no one else that I could speak to at all. in the past I have rented trucks from your company up to a month and Ive only been charged 800 to $1,000. I would like someone to please explain to me why Ive been charged $2,000 when I return the truck with a full tank of gas and no damage. I will be filing a dispute with my bank but would like to speak to either you or someone from your company and get this situation resolved as soon as possible please. I feel that the manager Bobby is not a good employee and I suggest that he should either be fired or reprimanded immediately. He is rude, brief, nonchalant, he immediately gives you the impression that he does not want to be at work and that is not the type of people that I suspect you want working for your company.
Monday morning, busy, software problem, considering all of it Mark got me out of there pretty darn quick. 15 ft truck, all was good with the truck. Return was simple, charge was correct.
At first lady was friendly, gave us a car that had been smoked in with cigarettes and weed, my kids complained the whole time about smell, I had to purchase wipes and odor eliminator just to have for 3 days, returned car to have them add extra opening charge for $200 on top of the first on return day and then the next day they ran my car for the second charge of $115. I currently have two $115 charges and a $200. Get your accounting together and for goodness sake have some accountability for when people ruin your cars. We will not be back to this location. When I called to question the charges, she talked to me like I was dumb and didnt understand the billing. Ive been renting cars for 15 years so I do understand!!
I personally love adventures, but getting a call that Budget doesn’t have the moving truck you reserved (a full week prior) just 5 minutes before you’re supposed to pick it up is not the kind of adventure you want. They couldn’t even help us locate another truck for today... I would rate 0 stars for wasting our time and apparently being incapable of leaving a voicemail.
The worst rental car location I have every rented from. Beware!! I always book my rentals through Costco Travel. On January 20th, 2020 I had reservation to pick up an economy car from this location. They were out of all cars. The rep said they had a small SUV that he could upgrade me into. I declined the offer and asked for what had been agreed upon in my reservation contract through Costco. He said he could not do it.I called Coscto they spoke with him and I thought things had gotten resolved. He made a few calls and refused to do it at the agreed upon price. Coscto told me to rent it and then turn in the receipt to them for and they would attempt to get a refund on my behalf. Long story short, I will not rent from this Budget location, nor will I book through Coscto again.
3/24/19 I believe that this location is under new management/ownership. They were very kind and knowledgeable. I would recommended this location to anyone.
Im not a frequent reviewer, so is it possible to give negative stars? Because I would rate this at a -5. I am EXTREMELY disappointed with Budget Truck Rental and will NEVER be going back.I originally rented a truck for 2 days, and I made 2 SEPARATE CALLS to ask about turning in the truck early so we wouldn’t be charged the extra day. On both calls I was reassured that “you only pay for what you use.” I rearranged my work day and had my father rearrange his so I could leave work early to drop it off for the extra day so I wouldn’t be charged. So not only did I lose valuable work time, I ended up PAYING for the truck to be in their possession, potentially to be used by another customer? In addition, let me tell you about the experience of picking up the truck. I walked into the location at 4555 N. Keystone Avenue in Indianapolis. We were the only customers in the building or in the parking lot. My father had pulled up to the door to drop my mother and I off, thinking he wouldn’t need to stay for long as the rental process is usually a pretty quick transaction. While walking into the door, we greeted your agent with a “hello,” and he didn’t even acknowledge our presence, he looked past us and said, “Do you know who’s in that car?” I said, “Yes, that’s my father who dropped us off.” He responded with, “Okay, well he needs to move because I might have other people coming.” I went outside and asked him to move which he happily obliged. When I went back inside, he said, “Name?” I gave him my information, which he asked me to repeat multiple times because he had earbuds in and was watching a YouTube video. In the middle of this transaction, he’s looking through the paperwork and DROOLED ON HIS VEST. I had to ask my mother to make sure I wasn’t imagining things. He seemed to be completely aware for the most part, but drooling on yourself while a customer is purchasing a rental from you?He then handed us the paperwork and said, “Yeah, you’re going to need to call your insurance company because you won’t know the answers to these.” I will give him credit for that, because I’ve never been asked how much “weight I’m insured for” when it came to renting a vehicle. EVER. Throughout the process he didn’t feel the need to explain why he needed this information, even when I asked him to. I called my insurance company and their response? “I don’t know the answers to those questions because I’ve worked here for 25 years and never been asked that.”When we left the building after being handed the keys, we said “Have a good day, thank you!” To the clerk and he didn’t respond because he was occupied with the video on his phone. We went to the truck and when we entered the cab it was FILTHY. The dash was sticky and covered in dust, the seats had to be dusted off before we sat down, and the floor stuck to our shoes. The back of the truck had obviously not been swept out, as that was also covered in dust and dirt.To reiterate, I called Budget TWICE and was reassured that we wouldn’t get charged for the extra day if we returned the truck within the 24 hour window. I can’t dispute the fuel charges, that’s on us, but it does seem a bit ridiculous that it cost $24 to fill up a quarter tank in addition to the $30 fuel charge.I am RIDICULOUSLY disappointed and want to warn others of this - DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - GO WITH ENTERPRISE!
I have never had a worse customer experience in my life than Ive had with Budget rental today. I set up this rental car for my boss (Confirmation 39710619US4). The location (4555 N Keystone Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana, United States-(ID3)) was completely unresponsive and did not answer their phone over 20 times. We requested a pickup, and they never showed up. My boss was finally able to get through to them, and they were rude, then put him on a hold which disconnected after 10 minutes. After multiple call-backs and multiple disconnections, they refused to serve him. Meanwhile, I could not get through to the location and was continually transferred to the corporate customer service line. The corporate service line over and over told me I needed to call the location- an impossible task, as I could not get through to the location. No one on the customer service line could offer any solution. I was continually transferred. After being transferred finally to a manager, the manager (Mark, employee number 28701) was incredibly rude and unwilling to listen to a word I said. This obviously escalated the situation. I definitely raised my voice; He continually was speaking over me not listening to a word I was saying. He kept accusing me of not knowing what was going on, when I kept telling him I just explained what was going on. His rudeness was completely unacceptable. He refused to transfer me to anyone else and refused to help me. Long story short, and over two hours of aggravation later, my boss was left with NO solution, and Budget did not even try to provide one or make the situation right. I will never use Budget again if I can help it. ~ Valerie
I wish I could give 0 stars. My husband and I made an appt and were told our total would be 103 on the website while also having us give our debit card information. Once we got there we were told it’s not prepaid and they changed our overall total to 250. We said we were canceling then and they proceeded to take 50 dollars out of our account for not giving a 48 hour notice. There was no way we could have known the price would be upped so much so we wouldn’t have been able to give a 48 hour notice. I would NOT recommend budget truck or this location. I honestly believe there should be some legal repercussions because I’ve read other comments and they seem to take out more than they should from their customers’ accounts frequently.
I booked and got a confirmation number. Then when I arrived they said they dont have any car to rent.
Horrible staff and very rude. Did not fully explain how all the insurance works and then gave me the wrong truck. Halfway through filling out the damage paperwork for the truck he tells us that he gave us the wrong truck. Playing loud rap music right when you walk in. Unprofessional and I didnt feel safe.
Horrible company DO NOT USE THEM! they will sell you the wrong products and never give you your deposit
I wish I could give negative stars.Went to pick up my rental truck. Gave the guy behind the counter my reservation number. He told me reservation number dont mean anything.Of course they didnt have my truck. I received several emails from Budget about my upcoming reservation. Not one mentioned the truck not being available. Their customer service hotline is useless. This place looks exactly like it is ran, real crappy.Fortunately, U-haul was able to assist. I learned my lesson. U-haul may cost more, but at least they hold your reservation.Do yourself a favor and avoid this joke of a rental company and save yourself some stress.
Best customer service I’ve experienced since living in Indianapolis. Great prices, great vehicles and great customer service.
This place has the nastiest trucks on the street. Overpriced to drive trucks they probably should pay you to drive. Uhaul is a better company hands down. They charged me $180 on a 4hr rental and try to charge me $27 for a dollie. This place is HORRIBLE!! period
After consistently positive experiences with Budget car & truck rentals and Budget personnel, I made the mistake of using the N Keystone Ave (Indianapolis) location for a pre-paid car rental gone bad. The place is dirty, smells terrible, and the manager/agent is rude -- seriously lacking in basic customer service disciplines and practices. Instead of calling corporate for support when a problem arose in modification of a pre-paid reservation, the only options he offered were to cancel the transaction or accept an additional $65 in charges because he didnt modify the original reservation as I specified. It was very close to closing time and the manager/agent didnt want to bother with calling corporate. I called corporate, since he wouldnt, and spoke with a reservations supervisor who advised that the change I wanted to make was simple and that the agent/managers actions were unnecessary complications -- not compliant with Budget standards and procedures. The on-site agent/manager ordered me out of the office (while another customer was still waiting) while I was on hold for a Budget reservations supervisor. The corporate reservations supervisor offered a sincere apology; and provided very friendly, professional, and efficient resolution of a simple challenge with pickup of the vehicle at a nearby location. I recommend Budget Car/Truck Rental -- but highly recommend driving a few extra miles to the next closest location to avoid the 4555 N Keystone location. Agent/manager is clearly more interested in whatever is on the screen of his phone than interacting with customers in any positive and professional manner; or if its 5:24 he explicitly has no interest in resolving a reservation issue but, instead, hes very good at looking at the clock and rudely informing a customer that the place closes at 5:30 and that the customer needs to be out by then! Wow! Really???
Budget is great, but this location is horrible. Had to call customer service twice. Very unprofessional
I googled ONE WAY pickup trucks for rentals and BUDGET showed up. I called and the agent put me on hold just to find out they DO NOT OFFER ONE WAY pickup trucks.
Very rude customer service. Dude was on his phone watching videos. Non salaat attitude so when i decided to leave the and cancled the truck. He acted like i was ready to leave but he still has my ID. And credit card. He was more Enthuse to get me out the store than actually get me in the truck. And then I get a credit card charge of $50 for canceling the truck for less than 48 hours when I order the truck the day before so didnt have 48 hours of reservation
HORRIBLE customer service, horrible business altogether. Seems to only be one female who works there, shes quite rude. The engine light comes on in the car which I saw in previous reviews, so thts a thing. The response was for ME to take the car to the airport to exchange, or call Roadside assistance and they will decide if they should come get it. Non sense and a complete waste of time and money. Go next door to Enterprise
They didnt try to charge me extra, I found cigarettes butts in the ash tray and i told them upfront when i got to indy!
Horrible customer service is an understatement. I rented a car while in vacation and drove it back home and used the after hours drop box since the location was closed. 2 days later, the car had not been checked in and I still had not received a email stating this has been closed out. I called to ask and was advised by what turned out to be the branch manager that its the day after a holiday and do I know how many cars he has to check in. I advised him that I could imagine a lot but I need to make sure that this was done as my credit card is on file and I dont want to incur extra charges. He ask what the rental agreement number was and I didnt have it. He stated im not looking it up unless you have a rental agreement number or car number. I hung with him and called the 800 number and got the rental agreement number. I went in thinking I would just be able to get a staff person to check the car in. As I am walking in, this man greets me with whats up? With a look on his face like what do you want. I explained that I had rented a car and returned it 2 days ago and it hadnt been checked in and was wondering if it could. He stated no he is busy and that i am stopping him from working by being there. The man began to argue with me and I began to walk away. He began mumbling under his breath and I asked did you say something? I advised him I will be filing a complaint and asked his name. He laughed and stated he was the branch manager. I then told him he should find another career and that he was rude and walked away. He advised me that I dont wanna know what he will do and proceeded to follow me to my car. This was my first and last transaction with budget. I never rent from budget, always enterprise, but I needed a car and enterprise was sold out. This person is nuts and I have filed a formal complaint. Word of advise, avoid this place. Go to enterprise or anywhere except this place. Also look at the reviews.....
Service was horrible, I rented a car for 2days and was charged $356. Smh the guy at the front counter customer service was really bad. I definitely won’t be going back or referring any one to them. I’ll just stick to enterprise
Had a confirmed reservation I made 11-9 for Today 11-17, when I arrived Bobby told me he did not have a truck and my reservation was cancelled by the regional manager a few days ago. I asked who the regional was and he could not provide me with the name or number of the regional. He handed me the 1800 number to call. I called and they told me my reservation was not cancelled. They input my information so someone else can call me with where to get a truck.Customer service called back a few minutes later and said they did not have a truck anywhere for me. When I asked what I should do they suggested booking with Uhaul or Penske, when I repeated what he said, that I book with their competitors and told him thanks for the advice he disconnected the call.So I leave you with the same advice: Book with someone else if you want your reservation to be there when you arrive.
Very unfriendly when you call them. They make you feel like youre an idiot and they dont have time for you.
Car rentals are OK, but you probably wont get the type of car you reserved. Moving truck rentals are really bad. They almost never have equipment for customers who reserved in advance! Go to the UHAUL ACROSS THE STREET!
This is for Budget in general (guy at this location was nice but didnt do much to help me find a solution): A week ago I reserved a car for a one-way transport for yesterday, November 24th. I show up, and despite pre-paying, no cars of the size I requested or larger were available in the entire city. I needed to move my stuff down to Georgia from Indianapolis, IN and instead, had to fly back home without my stuff because I had no way to transport my things. The only suggestions I was given verbatim: pay an additional $500 for a moving truck (Not an option for a graduate student on a budget) or dont move. Horrible service, how invalidating! I see a reservation as a contract (as Im sure your company does if I didnt follow the rules), yet your company backed out of the contract without accommodating my needs. My sister was supposed to drive down with me and then fly back, and because she already bought her plane ticket when I paid for the reservation, she essentially burned her money as well since she couldnt drive down with me.
Very friendly staff but plan to be here at least an hour to rent a truck. Very inefficient and waste of my time on Move day...
The cx services lady was rude had a attitude and seem like she did not even want to help us, time and day was 3pm 3/30/16 she should not be working cx services if she not got treat the cx the right way, I been working in cx services dealing with all types of people and I would never treat are act the way she did.....
Staff very rude nd they not professional at all. Car was nasty nd check engine light was on in the car . Will not EVER rent from Budget again. They charged my card to much nd it took 7days to get my money returned to me. Never again will I deal with them.
The car was fine, but the staff were completely unfriendly. They did their job and got me in and out, but I believe that customer service matters and they lack it. Ill probably pay more at Enterprise before renting here again.
Smells like dead people, but its convenient.
Didnt have the truck size we reserved. And I dont expect a truck rental place to be fancy and posh, but this place sort of looks like its on the verge of shutting down and boarding up the windows.
Worst customer service ever. please get friendlier people to this location!!
Corporate acct holder ordered truck on line went to pick up no truck available not even the courtesy to call and let us know horrible customer service total lack of professionalism try uhaul across street
Cant answer phones. Two thumbs down
Rude. Just plain rude. 8/5/15
I put a star because you cant put lessThe woman who attends the counter is possibly the worst person we have encountered since we have lived in Indianapolis.I put a star because is the minimun. The woman in this station pehaps is the worst person we have known since we are living in Indianapolis.
