I am a beginner but honestly I really like this gym. It makes you feel comfortable to work out and there’s always help if needed. Cleanliness is on point. As a college student I love coming here before or after classes and it helps that the showers are open to use so I can clean up for class. Overall, 10/10!
After being a guest for two visits, I was pulled aside by the director, and accused of some sort of public indecency. False accusations by a director who took my statement with a grain of salt have led me decide not to be a member at this facility I greatly enjoyed in my 20s. It is the world we live in now a days that you are guilty before even being approached about the incident. Would recommend that they put better safe guards in place to protect their patrons and their privacy.
I think the facility is okay, the equipment is a bit outdated compared to other gyms. Other gyms have had their basketball court, sauna, pool, locker rooms and spa open for months now and this gym has not opened those features of the gym since the reopening. When you ask the employees about when these amenities are going to come back they say they don’t know. There should be no reason why a date should not be in place for these amenities coming back within the next few months. When really they should have already been back with the vaccine being available for everyone in the state of Indiana for close to a month now and the cases and death rate of the virus being on the decline for several months. I understand precaution although, at this point there should be no reason why none of the employees have a clue to when these amenities will be back and why they aren’t already back. Last but not least, why do I pay full membership price but get close to half of the features of the gym? That’s why they don’t bring it back because they can charge full price without paying for maintenance for the whirlpool, locker room, sauna, steam room and basketball court.
This once amazing fitness center has gone downhill after covid. I used to be a regular member from 2017 thru 2019. I decided to cancel my membership since they decided to have forever mask mandates and all the facilities such as sauna and pool closed for infinity.
I would like to give this place 4 or 5 stars but I cant. The facilities are very good, and although the layout is a bit odd, you quickly get used to it. The locker room facilities are also very nice and I never had an issue with their cleanliness. My issue comes from the staff. I have never been hagled so much in my life. There is/was an older gentleman trainer there that would constantly sit within 6 feet of my workout partner and myself and watch us like a hawk as we trained. There was also a larger female trainer that at one time yelled at me from across the track to put away gym equipment I wasnt even using. I humored her and put it away, but she yelled at me again for not putting it away in the correct location. I believe all of this was rooted in the fact that the smaller trainer that enjoys kettlebells accused me of using their gym to have people pay me under the table to train them. Yes I was a personal trainer and yes one time I invited one of my clients to workout with me and check out the gym (did not charge her for that). I understand them wanting to ensure people dont do that, but it bothered me they didnt ask me first, they simply assumed and accused. But other than that, I think the price they charge is on the higher side but can be justified if they still offer the parking pass with the membership.
Great job on the reopening. Layout and safety protocols exceeded my expectations.
NIFS: “Not Interested In Fixing Stuff” In this picture you can see spaces where TWO treadmills used to be. Well over a year ago these two treadmills broke, NIFS put signs on them saying they would be fixed ASAP. The two machines disappeared never to be seen again. NIFS apparently LIED to members when they said these treadmills would be repaired There is absolutely no excuse for these treadmills to be out of service for over a year!!!!! Fix them or get 2 new ones to replace them!! Currently there are now Two more treadmills out of service. It would not be suprising if these broke treadmills disappear and never reappear!!! At the very least, it will probably take them weeks to repair them Guess NIFS never heard of preventative maintenance for their most used machines, NIFS, you are pathetic!!!!
NIFS = “Not Interested In Fixing Stuff”This is essentially what NIFS stands for. Broken, unmaintained aerobic equipment and lackadaisical staff who are totally uninterested in maintaining and fixing equipment on a timely basis. The 4 relatively new FreeMotion treadmill are a prime example of this. 3 of these These treadmills consistently run poorly, and when people complain, the NIFS staff puts an “Out of Order, repairs will be repaired as soon as possible” sign on them. Signs are consistently posted on some machines weeks or even months at a time. Repairs are sometimes never made, instead, the signs are removed and the machines continue to run like garbage .What is just as bad, if not worse, is when staff are questioned when repairs will be made, they will either say “I don’t Know” or will say repairs will be done by a certain day and naturally, the machines are NOT repaired by that time.
Nice and professional place
Cool place and very friendly stuff, wanna practice here every single day
This is by far the best gym in Indy. Plenty of space. Plenty of equipment. Knowledgeable staff. Great gym culture. Shame free. All fitness levels and goals welcome. Clean.I love this place
One of my favorites about the facility is the large workout area with a track-and-field. The sauna is also my favorite because it recovered me after my long day of stress and makes it relaxing. Would go there next time!
Plenty of cardio equipment that few people use, and not enough equipment that many people use (Treadmills). How about start being a decent gym and purchase a few more new treadmills? How about actually replacing the treadmills that you remove, supposedly for repair service? Two treadmills were removed and NOT replaced. Equipment was rearranged to make it seem nothing was changed. A very deceptive practice.
More like 4.5 stars, but Ill round up. The price is great for non-peak membership and they have everything youll need. The Freemotion treadmills are also incredibly and the smoothest Ive ever used.Downsides are that Sunday hours end a bit early and its disappointing to see that theres a fee to rejoin after temporarily stopping membership...
Perfect place to work out👍great bath room btw
I am definitely glad I visited today for the first time and signed up for a trial membership. I will definitely take advantage of everything this facility has to offer and do a full membership.
I have traveled all over the US. and jumped in as many gyms as possible. NIFS by far is the most spacious gym with a complete indoor running track and sprint lanes. Plus the number of powerlifting and small cross fit items such as a climbing rope and tires certainly provide excellent fitness diversity. Lastly, classes such as Stevens Spinning Class and Boot Camp class provide group fitness.
I just cancel my membership because I was harass by the members of nifs and other college students . They were called me a lot of names, make fun of my physical appearance, tease me for the past of couple of weeks harass me .So I cancel my membership so Nifs You guys win, 👍👤Hope you guys feel good about yourselves.
The gym is very nice but the hours suck if you like working out in the morning. 5am opening time would be nice.
The best fitness center in Indianapolis. Unlike YMCA, they invest less in marketing, more in equipment and services. Love it! Keep it up!
So far one of the best gyms Ive been to in Indy
You can do personal, group or individual classes, and theres always some personal group challenge going on.Hard work and Fitness
This gym is awesome. Not spanking new like the downtown YMCA at Cityway, but they have every piece of equipment you could ever dream of. The group fitness classes and schedule are great. I especially love the cycle class on Tuesday with Amanda, and the Wednesday night yoga. Boot camp is also great and doesnt charge an extra fee like some other gyms. Same with TRX.NIFS has a decent amount of weights spread in multiple areas around the gym, in addition to the actual weight room, so theres always plenty of room.Only downside is that IUPUIs pool isnt included with the membership, although I think the fee isnt too much extra if you want access to the pool as well. The gym has a dry sauna and a hot tub in the locker rooms though.
So far the best gym I have ever been to..
Great work out facility for weight training. It is quite expensive for a membership and paying for a parking pass makes it a pretty big financial burden on a non-student.
Great staff and personal trainers.
Nice facility. Discounts are offered to IUPUI students.
Best gym in the city! Hands down ✌🏾️💯
Best athletic training facilities open to the public in Indianapolis
All the equipment you’ll ever need
Brilliant
