Our table had the stuffed mushrooms, french onion soup, baked walleye, ribeye, garlic smashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and sauteed green beans. Everything was so good!

We ate here twice on our recent visit to Indianapolis. It was pricey, but conveniently located to our hotel. I loved the literary cocktail theme. My husband had the Catcher in The Rye . The food was decent both times. The bread was much better our first visit. The first visit, my pasta was late in coming out. The cook had dropped my chicken on the floor and they had to remake my order. They were very honest which I appreciated. Things happen in busy kitchens.The second visit we were seated in the bar, not by choice. I preferred the main dining area. The bar area is nice, but the TV felt distracting. Not the dinner vibe I was hoping for. The food was, again, good with 2 exceptions: the salad greens in my house salad were pretty wilted. Also, the berry and whip cream dessert was awful. It was cool whip, not whipped cream and barely any fruit. I was expecting it to be petite, but it was just not the light, fresh dessert I was expecting. My husband and son both had cheesecakes, which were great except for the fake whipped topping. Overall, pretty decent food, slightly overpriced, but large portions, good flavor. Nice waitstaff.

The library is a joke in the wall that can easily be over looked. Do not sleep on this restaurant as not only is the atmosphere great the food is even better..The NY strip was cooked to perfection

We came during the last GenCon and it was great. The experience this time lived up to that memory. The prime rib is phenomenal and melts in your mouth. Indianapolis is a 2.5 hour drive, but we may have to make it to eat here again before next year!

Overall the place is nice and the food was tasty. They asked how I wanted my prime rib and I said rare but it came about closer to medium-well done but it was still edible.

For a Friday night, it was pretty quiet. Almost sure we brought the median age down about 20 years when we walked in. Went here based on a recommendation from our layover hotel, who also gave a coupon for a free dessert with dinner. Had the Prime Rib Manhattan, Medium Rare. Probably one of the BEST steaks Ive ever had. Good marbling, thick, not overcooked, well seasoned. The green beans were nice and soft, not rubbery like some places. Sweet tea was the right amount of sweet without being too overbearing. Had Lemon Tarts for the dessert. The raspberry drizzle was an excellent contrast. Did not expect to be wowed by food in Indy, but was definitely a nice surprise.

The decor is a bit off and interesting but the food is definitely good. The prime rib Manhattan was tasty and the stuffed salmon was light and refreshing. Be forewarned to get there early because they do sell out of the prime rib. I would like to come back again during warmer weather and sit out on the patio area they have.

Boss took us there for lunch. I ordered the blue sirloin burger and it was delicious. Blue cheese was awesome. The caramel cheesecake was great too.

Like the sign says Best Prime Rib in Indianapolis. (It is herb encrusted and takes 18 hours to prepare.) They also have great cheesecake. There is no dress code here so business or casual is acceptable. (They have event rooms for proms and other events.)

Great food. We had grilled and baked fish. Very helpful and attentive staff. This is more of a restaurant than a pub, in assistance and menu choices. We walked fewer than ten minutes from the Marriott Courtyard. Dinner before a flight out. Will do this again.

Simply put, the actual best Prime Rib Steak Ive ever had, ever!Sorry for simple review, Im planning on going back and trying other items to get a feel for everything as a whole, but if their steak is any indication, this place might just be my new favorite date night spot easy!Service was wonderful, decor was quite nice. Everyone is on board with their theme of a Library and the employees seem to enjoy their job, which reflects well on their service!If you are a steak person, PLEASE try it out, you owe yourself to have this at least once! We got the biggest one cooked medium-rare and had them prep it to share.- the only side I tried was the garlic smashed potatoes, but it was wonderful as well.

I am on a business trip in IND and came here just because it was close. It is FABULOUS. The iceberg wedge was the best Ive ever had. Ill never forget the stuffed baked pesto salmon. The buttery Chardonnay was perfectly paired. I may come back to Indy just to dine here.

Nice and clean, wait staff was very very friendly and the food was very good. The reason for four stars not five is I did feel that the wait staff was not attentive as I would like. It takes a minute when you ask them to bring you something. I will definitely go here again and I would recommended as a quick place for lunch. I should also mention that the burger was cooked perfectly. Its very hard to get a burger that is cooked medium and done well, great job.

I love this place! The atmosphere is very relaxing and upscale, and I love the look of the library all around you. Our food has always been great in flavor and the staff has always been very kind. I recommend this place for a great date night, girls night for drinks ( they have a beautiful bar) or company gathering! We have has our Christmas dinners here before as well. One of my fave places serving a Veggie burger that is a huge mushroom! Its amazing. :-)

Was in the city visiting for the first time. Found this place had amazing reviews and they were not wrong at all. Everything from the vibe of the restaurant, our librarian (server), the food - I had filet mignon - was phenomenal. Id go here all the time if I lived in the area. 100% would recommend to anyone visiting.

Any time where in Indy, we make sure we have dinner at The Library! The Prime Rib was delicious as always! Staff was friendly and even though we barely made it before they closed, they made us feel welcome.

First visit to The Library. Good was really good. Our group had the pork chops, stuffed shrimp, chicken parmesan, salmon, and the prime rib. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

For being such a high end place, I was not impressed. i.e. it was not bad, but it just did not meet up to its expectation

Ordered food to go from here, that’s what we got for stuffed shrimp (only 6) a thumbnail potato and some ugly cabbage after waiting for 40 mins, charged us $30 and when I wanted to complain, the boy was so rude and start yelling at us. Definitely sure that this place not worth of your time and money to spend.

First of all the elegance of the establishment was great. Nice colors, beautiful paintings, clean bathrooms, and friendly staff. We ordered the summer drinks, very good. Appetizer was stuffed shrimp, would recommend. I ordered the Chicken Normandy. Cooked well. The only bad thing was my daughter ordered the shrimp pasta, the tails were left on.

Waitress was great even though she was very busy. I appreciate all her hard work.

I’m basing my review purely on the taste of the food. I had the filet mignon, smashed potatoes, and seasoned vegetables. All the food was excellent and no complaints! The staff was VERY friendly and took care of us. Would go back to this restaurant!! The outside could use some landscaping and better maintenance of the facility outside.

Flew into Indianapolis for business. Library was close to hotel and had decent ratings. From the outside, the restaurant looked a little outdated. The main dinning room had a feel of a cafeteria. Service was good. The menu had a pretty good variety to meet different tastes. It seems like the prime rib steaks was the main star of the menu. I tried the Bourbon baby back ribs .... Little too much sauce for my taste, it overpowered the taste of the meat.

Tried this place after looking at the reviews. They lied. Their famous primerib was a sorry excuse for a roast. It was the toughest steak I have had in a long time and goes for any type of steak. My wifes steak tasted like they cooked it with seafood. Smashed potatoes tasted like cafeteria food. Overpaid by $100. Thank goodness the booze was good.

I always like coming here to eat dinner. They have a nice selection of food and drinks. Alot of people probably think its on the business district so why come here. Our waitress name was Jessica she was very nice, and made sure we always had what we needed. I ordered the stuffed shrimp for the first time which comes with 2 sides. I ordered the garlic smashed potatoes, and seasoned vegetable was carrots. The stuffed shrimp has 2 kinds of cheeses, bacon and jalapeno. The bacon is barely there which is good, and the jalapeno is not chucks. The jalapeno gives it flavor more than it being spicy.. Now here comes the issue. The Library changed their menu, and kept alot of the items on the menu. But what they forgot to do is tell their regular customers that they changed the flavor on the items. So my other half was looking forward to eating the Gorgonzola and Blue Cheese meat tips pasta dish. I dish looks the same, but the meat looks and tasted boiled not nicely seared and flavorful like it used to be. I remember tasting his dish and remember it being full of flavor and a little spicy. The meat was cooked beautifully. We asked as always for the meat to be cooked medium it was well done no pink. I asked the waitress how long has she worked there and she said 4 years. I told her we havent been here since last November. She did say they changed the dish because people were complaining it was too spicy. They also changed the French Onion soup to a smaller bowl, not the clay type pot it came in before. I also want to say that I believe the prices increased by 2 or 3 dollars. What I am disappointed about is if my other half would have known they changed the flavor of that dish he would have gotten the Beef Manhattan. Have you ever wanted a dish, and thought about it....only for it to change drastically in flavor. I also get their news letter, never was it mentioned that some of the items has changed in flavor. The shrimp dish was good, and if you like a bland pasta dish with meat then you will like it. Not bad, just not what we expected.

We love dining here, usually not very busy. Food is amazing! We get a couple appetizers and share a main course & its more than enough!

The Library Restaurant and Pub is one of those places that costs a lot of money for just average at best food. Definitely not worth paying the high menu prices for what they have to offer. Save your money for dining somewhere else that serves better food or at least costs less. Most of the food they serve is pre-cooked and the line cooks simply re-heat portions for customers as they order. And they always overcook (reheat I should say) the pasta until its almost mushy and practically inedible. The cheesecake is the one thing thats consistent and actually good only because they hired a pastry chef to masquerade as their head chef.And the decor comes across as garish and gaudy. It makes me think of an old lady that decorated her house thinking shes being fancy but it just comes across tasteless and tacky.The Library Restaurant and Pub is completely overrated in my opinion.

Tried to take my son out for a nice dinner... Sadly disappointed. A ribeye steak should be meat marbled with a bit of fat for flavor...not a slab of fat marbled with some tasty bits of meat youre being challenged to excavate... Especially if youre going to have the audacity to charge me $30 for it. My chicken Marsala was beautifully executed, however and the service was excellent.

My steak was half fat, the bread was like a brick. Had I paid for it Id been very unhappy. But I was there for a lecture and the meal was free.

Recently reopened for business. A wonderful dinning experience once we were situated in the banquet room. A shared meal with 25 hungry people. After a slow start waitstaff picked up the pace. Warm bread served with olive oil, oooo tasty ! Appetizers timely placed on a serving table for everyone to feast. Calimari, wings, shrimp, celery sticks and an array of sauces. The entrees oh my, steaks and seafood their specialty were the toast of the evening. The prime rib so tender melts away in your mouth, stuffed baked potato, green beans so tasty the garden must be in the back yard ! Also on the menu calimari steak. Yes, check it out just another tasty treat to complement your meal. Stop in say hi and enjoy a delicious meal. There is a fully stocked pub that truely will lift your spirits. Oh by the way there are renderings of books in the library. See you there.

We ate lunch there today and it was pretty tasty. The staff were friendly and quick. The side salad was really fresh and ranch dressing housemade and delicious. I got the french dip and it was good. My husband got the ribeye and sweet potato fries and they were good. My son got a cheeseburger and fries. That was standard kids menu fare (i.e. frozen patty and fries as opposed to made in-house, by no means bad) but the bun was really soft and good. Then I got and devoured a creme brulee. I put my phone in my lap specifically so I wouldnt forget to take a picture but still forgot lmao. My picture of the French dip doesnt do it justice because I ate all the meat that was spilling out and a few more bites before remembering to take a picture. I definitely will be back to try the prime rib. Maybe Ill even get a picture of it lmao.

This place is amazing! Usually never can give a restaurant 5 stars anymore but this restaurant probably deserves 10 stars! Huge portions, nice warm herb bread to start with, delicious hot food!! Believe me,you wont leave hungry or disappointed! Our waiter, Teddy was fabulous! First time there and definitely will go back!!

Pretty restaraunt that gives a definite French look. I had a vodka penne pasta that was fresh, hot, and generously portioned. The sausage was particularly tasty. My wife had chicken marsala, and it was great. This is a little higher end than I normally eat, but I felt that I got good value for the money, and the service was very good too.

I frequently order lunch from The Library and have never been disappointed. The food is always fresh and prepared promptly. You can order online and pay, making the experience quick and convenient. Not to mention the Club is huge and nicely priced, I also love the Salads.

Only reason it doesn’t get a 5th star is only 6 beers on tap, 2 local. Feel like they should have more. Prime rib was cooked excellent. Could almost cut it with a fork it was so soft 👌🏼

Super friendly and courteous hostess. Sets your whole experience by just taking a reservation. All of our meals were served expeditiously, they were delicious, and they were good-sized portions. It was our first time there and we will definitely be going back.

First time eating here I had the 12 oz New York strip steak medium rare and it was delicious came out medium-rare not heavily seasoned which is a important thing I personally will be going back to try more of their menu options it passed but I recommend this place to other people yes I would the only bad thing was the Long Island iced tea was heavy-handed other than that the meal was great

My husband and I used to come here quite regularly. In fact, over the course of the last year, we have brought at least 15 new people into the restaurant for different gatherings. We love supporting a local, small business and love the food. However, the inconsistency in the quality of service has kept us away most recently.Our first bad encounter, I failed to even take notes on because it was the first bad experience. Our server, who was in her mid thirties, had never opened a bottle of wine and I actually had to open it for her. Since we were with a larger group, we sat out in the dining room. However, this is a restaurant AND pub. Every server who is 21 or older should know how to open a bottle of wine. This was slightly embarrassing as we had four other first time guests with us to celebrate a birthday. Again, it was the first negative experience, so we let it go.The second time happened on October 31, 2017. I had stopped in to pick up an order of wings that I had called in. I waited in the lobby area and chatted with the hostess being that I had arrived earlier than the time they had projected for pickup. After about 15 minutes of waiting, she went to check on the order. At this point, she realized that the kitchen staff was unaware of an order of wings to go. After asking around, we figured out that it was the older, male manager who was preparing for a party later that evening upstairs who had gotten busy and forgotten to place the order. Working in the food service industry in the past, I told them I understood as they both apologized immensely. Since I had already paid for the wings while waiting, the manager took the receipt back to his office and was going to cancel this transaction to allow me to be refunded for waiting twice as long. He failed to ever cancel this transaction. YET AGAIN, we excused this because we are loyal customers and were trying to be understanding of the fact that they were having a party that evening.The third time was what broke the camels back as they say. This encounter occurred on February 8, 2018. Being that I work out of town right now, I had driven nearly two hours home from work to surprise my husband and take him out to our favorite local restaurant. On this particular day, we had Amanda as our server. Long story short, we waited an hour and a half to receive our food. Although our appetizers came out on time, we sat and watched as many of those at bar (who arrived long after us) received their food. I had to flag Amanda down multiple times in which she gave us every excuse under the sun ..... the food was getting ready to come out soon, there was an issue placing the order in the computer as it gave an error and she thought it had gone through but didnt (She claims this happens often and has reported to management.), the stuffed salmon takes the longest to cook on the menu (We knew this wasnt true as its your prime rib.), and lastly she threw the chef under the bus stating he always underestimates the wait time. We SHOULD have just paid for our appetizers and drinks and just left; however, she kept promising it was getting ready to come out so we asked to just have the order packaged to take home at that point. We SHOULD have looked in the box, as when we arrived home, our stuffed salmon was burned so badly it was black. We were in such a hurry to get home knowing we had wasted so much time already, we failed to look in the bag. The worst experience as a customer is to feel as though you are being given excuse after excuse and lied to, but to wait more than double what it normally takes when we were already pressed for time, AND THEN get home and our food was burnt crisp, this ruined our opinion of the restaurant as a whole. I have attached photos for reference.Look, we love your restaurant. The food is awesome. We appreciate and utilize the Loyal Rewards program. The ambiance is perfect. But you dont invest enough into your service.Loyal customers can only put up with so much before they just stop coming. We have not been back since this last experience.

Was here for a company Christmas party and I was floored. Everything from the food to the service was top notch. I would highly suggest any of their cocktails if youre in the mood. And the calamari was delicious.

Cooked to a perfect medium with delicious garlic mash!! Btw, Pinot Noir, ordered by the glass at the bar was ... you guessed it, outstanding!!

Went and ate there last night well the waiter was ok I guess our appetizers was bland and dry no flavor I me and 3 others ordered ribs well Im a cook and I know my ribs you dont dry rub ribs then cake this nasty bbq sauce on the top and my wife ordered a steak wasnt cooked right and to top it off they smothered her steak in oil and garlic and as we was eating our waiter started putting chairs on tables and rushing us out by far the worst experience in a restaurant I have ever has mcdonalds would have been alot better js this place is a joke and the food is way way over priced

Steak was burnt I was going to show pictures but couldn’t upload. And only burn on one side of the steak so it was like they didn’t even turn the meat or pay attention why they were cooking it. And the steak was supposed to be medium

A decor that pleases and good food is a winner! Delicious aged steaks, prime rib, as well as pastas and seafood. The wedge salad was excellent. Full bar and good wine list for those who enjoy spirits. We had the prime rib; mine an end cut and my companion got the 20 ounce medium rare. Both were terrific. Reasonable prices. Definitely going back.

Indy Native here. Service and food when my mom visited for my birthday were outstanding, but not pretentious. My pork chop and moms salad were generous and tasty. Go elsewhere in town and pay double, or come here and get a good meal from friendly Hoosiers. Dessert was really good, but there was barely room. Barely :-)

Wonderful dinner for the 4 of us. The place is interesting in appearance. You enter the lobby area/ hostess station and theres a pretty painted staircase and shelves of books. To the left is a pretty blue dining room and through that is a large bar area. Theres plenty of outdoor seating as well.

Ive come here for the lunch buffet during the workweek several times - it isnt the cheapest, but the food is great. They do a good job and it rotates daily. The ambiance and decor for the restaurant is a lot of fun too - nice place.

Had the fish sandwich, maybe cook slightly more than I would like, however good flavor. Their tartar sauce was not edible for me. Server was polite and professional.The hot tea was really a good tea.Cucumber salad as a side left me wanting more of it. Very light and refreshing great side with the heavier fried fish.
