I have nothing but good things to say about this gym! It is further of a drive more me to go to Genesis, but it’s well worth it in my opinion. Very professional and kind when working with you. Equipment is in great shape and everything you could ever need is there.I started working with Jon, one of the personal trainers in April and he’s honestly the best. Very knowledgeable and keeps you on track with your goals!! Great guy and has really been a blessing to my gym goals!Overall, I think the facility and staff are wonderful! You should try them out!

This is my experience... its all dealing with the locker room and pool area. We waited 6 months for the remodeling and its a huge disappointment! First thing is the floors are tile and very scary slick. I am terrified of slipping on the tile, it seems very dangerous to me. In the entry way they are still installing it. The rain and snow are going to be very dangerous with that tile in the entry way.Also a very stupid choice for lockers in the womens area. They are all half lockers, so hanging a pair of long pants 👖 is getting them wrinkled. The lower lockers you have to bend over to use them and the top lockers you cant reach to the hooks. The whole of the top lockers is a waste. Half lockers are not big enough for winter clothes and boots. Its like no one with a practical eye was present for locker room decisions. AND the color surrounding the pool is hideous, dark brown and burnt orange... to me its disgusting and such a disappointment.Theres so much unfinished so I guess give them a chance... but its got to have hot water for the showers soon I hope!

Summary: Billing issues every single month since we joined four months ago. Issues include just plain not entering your billing information, double-billing, refusing modest fee waive requests, and mystery fees charged to your account.Ive had nothing but problems when it comes to paying my bill with this health club. First, when I signed up for my membership I did not have my bank account information on me so I initially linked the account with a credit card. The very next time I came in, I brought my bank information with me and handed it over. Soon after that I had to cancel that credit card for reasons not related to the gym.Weeks went by and all of a sudden I get a letter in the mail saying the account is overdue. I reached back out immediately and provided a new credit card just to get the charges cleared (and again submitted bank account info a couple days after that) only to discover a few weeks later that my card was charged TWICE.I again raised this issue with the club as soon as I discovered it. They asked me to email them screenshots, which I did. I never heard back. A few days later I mentioned it to the manager of the Lees Summit club and even brought in my credit card statement to show the duplicate charges. He was very nice and friendly and promised hed take care of it, but again I heard nothing back after several days.In the midst of all this, the Independence club that we initially joined because it was close to our house, shut down the kids club for remodeling for the summer without any notice (and just a few weeks after we joined). This was our entire reason for joining the club: It was close to our house and the whole family could go together. No one mentioned the eminent closure to us even though we were openly discussing making our summer plans around coming to the gym as a family as much as possible.Now you might think that they would show some flexibility to the situation given all of the trouble that we had had with them so far, but nope. They refused to wave the measly $10 fee to freeze the account.Finally we froze our membership last week due to the re-emergence of COVID at one of our workplaces. I was told over the phone (rather rudely I might add) that I, possibly exposed to COVID, MUST physically come into the gym and sign documents in order to put a freeze on the account.A couple days ago, the week after officially freezing our membership, I happened to check my bank account and see they just withdrew yet another months membership fees.I called yesterday and was told they would call me right back. At this point it has been over 24 hours and no word.

Ive been working out at Genesis for a while now (started as a place for working out while I was visiting my mom in town) and I really like the facilities and the staff. Theyre friendly and professional with each visit, the other gym visitors are nice, and the new remodeling theyre doing is only going to make the experience better. Ive told my family and friends about this place and cant praise it enough!

A very nice gym and location for me! All of the people there have been amazing and especially my trainer Caleb Eades. He’s gone above and beyond to get my training schedule up and running. Even better he has helped my stay very consistent on it for several months now. I am eager to go when I have my times planned out. What I like a lot is how flexible they have been even with all of the updating they are currently working through! Keep up the great work!

I have been a member for approximately 6 months and have enjoyed every minute of it. The staff is always friendly and compassionate and like a big family. They consistently check in to see how you are doing and try their best to make each person feel supported. I joined to get my life back on track by getting healthy and my trainer, Caleb Eades, has been top notch. He is extremely professional and customizes every workout for what is best at that time while considering all injuries past and present. Caleb has helped me lose 40 lbs so far as I work toward losing another 150 lbs. He keeps me motivated and balanced. I highly recommend him for anyone looking into getting a personal trainer.

Genesis is a fantastic gym with high quality equipment, helpful and friendly staff, and all types of other resources which are at your disposal. Specifically, my trainer Jon Dandurand has been incredibly helpful in my development. He never leaves a question unanswered and is a big reason why Im still working towards my goals after almost a year, and Im as confident in myself as Ive ever been. Worth every penny Ive spent 👍

I do not recommend this gym. They will tell you all the lies in the book to get you to sign up. Absolutely tiniest pool Ive ever seen, dirty facilities and over priced. AVOID

Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming from day one. Excited to see the remodel complete. I meet with a trainer Calab 3 times a week. He has been helpful. He pushes me when I need it and holds me accountable. Hes the perfect trainer for me and am so grateful for his time.

I loved the assessment Tyler Lee gave me. But, as always there is always extra fees left out until you sign up and give them all you information. I hope once the redo everything. It will truly be worth the cost

Genesis health clubs are very inclusive. This location in independence, MO stands out from the rest though. Upon arrival as a visitor, I was greeted and treated like a valued member. Steve gave me a full tour of their facility which explained the construction. They weren’t pressuring to sign up and after the the tour I was convinced that it would be a great gym to be a part of even though I live about 40 minutes away. Can’t wait to sign up and come back.

I am visiting my family and needed a gym where I could train while in town. My brother-in-law is a member at the Independence location and I train with him, which is great. I would highly recommend the club because of the professional team and overall environment.Thank you Club Genesis for the great visit and service while I was in town.

Was here for a month for work and loved the gym. The atmosphere was perfect and the equipment is really nice. The trainers are great and incredibly knowledgeable on nutrition and lifting. Brent helped me out specifically and would recommend him to anyone!

I’ve been coming to this gym for nearly 16 years as I visit Independence frequently.I love the changes, remodeling and renovations they are finally making. It’s been a great gym with swimming, weights, basketball and classes. It’ll be incredible with the upgrades.Steve and staff have been extremely helpful.

Genesis is great and with the renovations going on it will be even better. The personal trainers are awesome especially Jon who is amazing and very knowledgeable. If you want accountability and a workout program created for you ask for Jon.

I have seen such good progress and it’s been 3 months so far!! Lexi has been great at motivating & guiding me! 100% recommend giving her a try.

The Genesis Health Club Gym in Independence, MO. was great! Even with the remodeling still going on they had nothing but professionalism and courtesy in welcoming me in. Rhonda and her staff were so nice to me & my boyfriend and even took the time to show us the remodeling plan out that will be done by October!! Being from out of state and an avid traveler who’s a nurse I always look to getting my fitness on in the best gyms in my area, and this by far was a great one! Has tons of machines and cardio to get any health fitness gym goer going. I definitely recommend this gym for any one, you will not be disappointed.

Independence location is awesome! The staff is great. My personal trainer Lexi has helped me learn a lot in the gym and I would highly recommend her if youre looking for a trainer!

Just a trucker stopping through town for a lil training. This gym is great, it has everything you would need to get a great workout. Good selection of preworkouts, and products. The girl at the front was extremely friendly, and helped me track down everything as they are going through a bit of remodeling right now. Met the manager, and he was also very friendly, and helpful. Genesis Health Club in Independence has been going through a major remodel. They continue to offer quality classes and areas for cardio as well as weight lifting.

I just got a huge nail on my tire because the construction people are not cleaning good enough Right in front of the gym two in the winter time parking lot looks like a skating ringBut as far as the gym its a great place to work out i been there for years and the management it great and the owner seems like a great guy and its putting a lot money into his gym so that says a lot a bout the guy

Definitely starting to clean everything up and looking much better than it has in years. Any chance you will actually be going back to open 24/7 again? With my hours and Im sure a lot of others, it sucks not being able to go some of the days of the week because of the change

There is some construction going on and no pool ready is the only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. I just have to talk about Rhonda S. She is extraordinary and is the reason I joined. Personality and knowledge is spot on.

Love the staffs upbeat attitude. I always get a smile. From maintenance to cleaning staff to trainers and desk staff with whom I interact with every time I’m in the club they all appreciate a smile and a good word and give back to me to make me have a great workout!!!

I love working out here it’s spacious and has a good versify of machines and options and my trainer Lexi just makes me feel confident and comfortable in what I’m doing with her, can’t wait to see more progress ☺️

After not hearing any response from corporate office after multiple emails, They sent me a prompt to leave a review. So thats why I left this review.The people who work in independence are friendly, and seem to do their best, but the company is a fraud. Look at their BBB rating. They were admittedly deceptive with their marketing (but it was really false advertising and straight up lying), the corporate office is a joke. They lied about how long renovation times have been, so the gym has been basically useless for the first 3 months...But they are the only ones in the area with all the amenities, so our choice is no sauna/steamroom/hottub/kids care/basketball..... ir genesis. So for now theyll do.

Horrible company, lied to in order to get signed up. Worst customer service. Highly do not recommend going to this gym. Not worth the $55+ a month either. Go to lifetime 100% worth the extra money! VERY deceiving company, sales reps and managers lie in order to gain clients.

The staff is super friendly, I love coming to the independence gym. Genesis is always motivating and has been the only gym I’ve been able to stay on top of my fitness and health goals. I can’t wait till the remodel is finished, this location deserves it.

I was a member of 24 hr. fitness then Genesis . I joined in 2014 in which I had a great price and I was on auto pay the entire time until my credit card expired at that time I was informed to update my card which I did but the person at Genesis never set me back up on auto pay she only took a payment out and never put me back on auto pay so I lost my discount and the prices have almost triple.I wasnt even aware that the lady never sent me back up on autopay because I never checked those things and even if I didnt go to the gym the price was so affordable I didnt care if they took out the monthly payment it did not bother me at all.I did reach out to several different managers and nothing ever became of it.I feel that was very unprofessional, I was a loyal member I also got several different families to join.Even now after several years Im still upset

Brent and his staff were great and made me feel welcome even during HUGE renovations! Plenty of (clean) machines and weights to go around. Ill be back, no question!

I signed up because its maybe 10 min from my house and I was told the renovations would only take 3 maybe 4 months I dont want to drive out to lees summit every time I want to work out genesis needs to hurry up this process or Im going to go to planet fitness

I go to the Olathe Ridgeview location after work daily. I come to the Crackerneck/Independence location on Saturday’s. I feel like this gym has little budget to fix or upgrade anything. I’m pretty sure the gym cabinets are the same from when this was 24hr fitness. The shower heads are the lowest grade possible. Broken water fountain. The employee’s are always helpful. Just needs some TLC.

Utterly unprofessional staff and unclear contract. On a month to month plan, so I thought. Went in to cancel before my next billing cycle (because I’m moving!) only to be yelled at and disrespected by both staff members at the reception when I was confused as to why I would be billed a following month. I understand contract Symantec’s, but there was no excuse for customer service like that, or lack there of. BUYER BEWARE.

I’ve been going to this gym for over two years, and they have great variety of workout equipment which is great, but overall cleanliness of the gym needs improvement.

Honestly I really dislike this club there’s always hidden fees so when you get the contract make sure you know what you getting yourself into ! Must of the clubs are even all that for the amount you be paying a month! When covid pass and the close the club they still charge and didn’t return my money just credit it for when they open ! The roof leaks when it rains. The women’s locker room is depressing. Nobody there was enforcing mask mandate. People were wearing masks but had dropped them under their chins and nobody said a word. I told front desk and they told two people in front of me to lift their mask. As soon as attendant walked away they were dropped under the chin again.The place is run down and dirty and no mask enforcement so It is pretty much a bummer.

4 stars out of 5 just cause they are under construction. Service was great and its going to be a really good gym.

Honestly, Im still pay for 24-hour 7 days a week rates from when they were still 24-Hour Fitness. Now that they close early on weekends to clean, I feel like Im getting screwed royally because of this. Open up 24/7 again and MAYBE I can make sense in paying for these rates.

Fiancé & I decided to try this gym because she wanted one with classes & options. We go in for a tour & I was absolutely not impressed. Pandemic or not this place was filthy. Not gym filthy but just not clean at all. Not to mention all the signs about covid & mask wearing but I DID NOT feel like their was much of an effort in meeting standards. Dude tried pitching his sale for the membership but honestly, if they cant show they care in their gym then they likely wont care about their members. Maybe its just the independence location.. I hope

I would never recommend this gym to anyone!!!! PLEASE do yourself a favor and avoid this gym/company at all cost. Trying to get out of their membership is like pulling teeth. After multiple emails, phone calls, and extra money that was processed over a month ago I am still being charged my monthly fee. I havent been in this gym in over a YEAR! They are only about making money and have no intentions of helping you improve your life. PLEASE DONT GO HERE!!!

I’m sad because i’ve been a member for 3-4 years and they say “mask up” but i’ll literally see employees and members not following the rule. i hate the mask mandate as much as the next person but if you guys have that as a rule ENFORCE it. it’s not hard. i do it at my job and have to tell my drivers to do it y’all should do the same. it’s disappointing that the employees can’t even follow the rules or the managers. Yeah call me karen but if you’re gonna put hella posters up do yourself a favor and follow your own rule.

Went to this gym today. Im not a member, but got 7 day free pass. Gym was very clean, young man at desk, was very polite very helpful. I was working out in a few minutes. Genesis Health Club is Awesome!! Ive been a member for 2 weeks so far. I have been welcomed by all the staff. Im on a massive weight loss journey from 410 to 215lbs. Angie, one of the personal trainers has set me up on a starting strength training and cardio training program. I lost 60lbs (currently 355) on my own before I started with Genesis. So Im really looking forward to see what lies ahead. I am very determined and I know that with the help of Genesis Health Club and my doctor I will succeed.

I go for the convenience and this facility has Water Aerobic classes.

Brent has been extremely helpful.

Went for a walk thou of the gym, signed up that day cant wait to work out here. I love the fact that it has a place for my daughter to play while me and my partner work out.

Staff does not really enforce policies of equipment use. Many members keep personal belongings on or close to exercise equipment even when they are using a different type of exercise equipment, and this is very irritating.

Genesis in Independence Missouri:The space is nice and cardio equipment is great. However, for the amount per month that is charged to its members, there is no reason that the machines and weights should be old, janky, and rusted. I understand old people who go in there to walk and swim are your base customers, but cmon. Stop neglecting those of us who lift.

The facilities and equipment are great. Genesis locations have everything you need to reach your fitness goals. You can access multiple locations, and have all the equipment needed to keep workouts constantly evolving.

Love going here! Great open space, lots of equipment, super nice staff and a great atmosphere.

The gym is clean and the equipment is well kept. The only complaint I have is related to the few, very few, who will not re-rack their weights or stand on equipment for 30 minutes talking, but you will have that almost everywhere you. If you are the outgoing type you will make some new friends. If you are the focused type you should do fine as well. You make it what it is.

When I signed the initial contract, I specifically asked for a 6-month contract because I was moving out to a different state after 6 months. They agreed to it and I signed the contract. However, later I found out that the contract I signed was for 1 year even though the sales agent told me it was only for 6 months. They made me pay for the entire year even after talking to so many customer representatives.Finally, after a year my membership was suppose to end in August, and I made sure with a customer service representative through email and phone to not roll me month to month. They agreed to cancel my membership in August. However, I was charged again in September. I emailed and called them so many times after that and never received a response. Today they tell me that I was charged for September because they didnt charge me for the month of May because the gym was closed. Genesis was closed for approx 2-3 months due to COVID and they still charged their customers.From providing false information to get me signed to promising me that I wont be charged after August 2020 but still charging me for September, its been a horrible experience from the beginning to the end.

Most all employees not wearing masks. 4 behind front desk and two didnt have on masks, two did, one of which had it below her nose. Two employees in small office talking to each other, no mask. Membership salesperson, no mask. I had to sign something and she handed me clipboard, no mask. General Mgr, no mask. Guy at table up front handing out guest passes, no mask. Myself and person I was with were very uncomfortable. I have to continue paying my membership even though I will not be going back because I just felt so uncomfortable. Was told I had to pay a fee to get out of my contract even though I have not been in 8 months due to Covid. Poor way to treat customers. Its all about the money and not the customers.

Sometimes slow to repair things. Took care of hot water issue very quickly. Observing Covid19 protocols; I feel safe. Love the pool!

The sales man was pushy told him I just wanted the price but he only had his agenda on his mind . And basically ignored what I told him when he called. The gym looks great and if I could join without some sales person I probably would they should make a online portal all sales people do is drive up prices. Not a fan.

Kept checking someone else in under my membership. FOUR TIMES in a roll i called my location and theirs, still not resolved. I don’t even live anywhere near MO, I’m from a DIFFERENT STATE AND has been trying to put my membership on freeze. The other gym member doesn’t even have the same name! This club even unfreeze my membership without my consent and kept messing up my freeze status. My billing is messed up and I’m paying for some stranger’s gym membership because of their mistakes. I don’t understand something as simple as checking the person’s name and address when they sign up can be missed this terribly. I have not had no apologies, no promises that it would be fixed. They even tagged my account for show of ID when check in, why not give that stranger a different key fob (they did find out who that was the 3rd time this happened ) Instead of causing more inconvenience on my part. Had I not like my original gym location, I would have cancelled my membership already!

Ignore the hater reviews!! I’ve been a member here for about a decade now. My family(wife & 2 kids) and I ALL go to Genisis several times a week, and Genesis has been a regular part of our lives since our kids were born. Kids Club is the BEST! It’s a place I’ve made friends and acquaintances, and I’ve never met a staff member I didn’t like. The general manager definitely cares that members are happy, the long time staff are all good people too, the front desk workers are always respectful and friendly with our children. My wife and I have both trained with trainer Angie, who is The Best Part of Genisis. She is the definition of professionalism and a great person on top of it! I love this gym, and the Worse part of my year was when they shut down for covid. Genisis is one of the few places we feel comfortable and gives us a sense of the Old Normal! People NEEEED to exercise to STAY Healthy! For everyone leaving 1 stars over covid concerns, Stay Home, and let the rest of us get some exposer to germs to build our immune systems, let us work out to maintain longevity. 5 ⭐️Stars! I Always recommend Genisis to friends and family and always will. Plan to stay a member as long as this place exist.

Pool Is always dirty. Locker rooms are falling apart. Nobody wipes down their equipment. NOBODY was wearing a face mask- staff, people working out, literally nobody, oh wait the girl at the front desk had hers around her chin. Meanwhile a sign on the door says masks required. Yikes, place is filthy and way sub par compared to the facilities at other kc metro locations. A shame that they are letting the independence location be so junky.

They have everything needed, but it needs a facelift. Its like an old YMCA. The weight lifting equipment is in good shape, but half of the treadmills have loose belts. Staff is really nice though!
